Created moving banner but it comes with skins

Hi,
There doesn't seem to be an option (DW8) when importing a flash video without it coming with some sort of skin.
I created a movie (banner across the top of my site - 460 x 120) with Movie Edit Pro and converted it in flash to an .fla file. This part allowed me to choose skins = "none" but when I imported the fla movie into DW it only gave me choices of different skins without a "none" option.
I don't want a play button for my scrolling movie banner obviously. How can I remove the skin? Keep in mind - I'm much more gui than coder, but I can figure out a few things.
Thanks,
Luna13

Thanks again Nancy.
I understand about the off button... have a link on creating one and how to place it near or on the animation?
Also can you explain rhe difference between the swf vs fla usages? Why would I prefer 1 over another?
I can see now that an swf must not need skins so i guess swf is a plus for creating moving banners vs fla.
First of all, to clarify the file extensions.
FLA - that's the Flash source file, and is created and edited in Flash
FLV - that's the Flash video file, I think that's what you meant to say in your original post.
SWF - the published file from Flash, and many other programs have the ability to export content to this format.
You're getting into an area where you need to Flash to create the FLA, publish to SWF - then you have complete control of attached FLVs, skins, buttons and anything else you neeed.

  • IFilter for Windows 7 64-bit -- does it come with Reader, or is download required?

I'm setting up a new Windows 7 (64-bit) system.  Windows Indexer shows PDF file types as selected for indexing, but says "Registered IFilter is not found".  I looked around and apparently PDF IFilters for 64-bit Windows used to be separately downloaded but now come with Reader (says this page:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2611).  I have the latest Reader (9.3.4) installed, yet apparently Indexing can't find the IFilter.
What should I be doing to get Windows Indexing to include PDF contents?

I have not been able to get the iFilter to work on my Win7 Pro x64 laptop.  The official response I got from Adobe on Sept. 21, 2010, was that it has not been tested on the Windows 7 platform.  I even bought the Acrobat 9.x Standard upgrade to my version 8 and it didn't help.

  • Nokia N95 'comes with music'

    Hi
I've recently bought an 8gb N95 on a contract with Orange, from phones 4 u.
I downloaded the Nokia comes with music application on my PC, and attempted to register my mobile.
It asked me to enter the pin number that came with my phone, in the 'comes with music leaflet'.
I do not have a 'comes with music' leaflet.
Does this mean I cannot get access to free songs?
It was the main reason I bought the phone!
    Thanks a lot
    Laura
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You presumed wrong. If you wanted the "comes with music" version you needed to ask for it as not all retailers sell it.  The nokia website shows both versions of the N95 8GB.
The N95 8GB has been available for over a year now but the "comes with music" package has only been available for a month or two.  Most retailers don't sell the "comes with music" version due to it being an older model and more expensive than the standard version.
They won't be able to give you the pass code as the "comes with music" version is more expensive (approx £50) to cover the music licenses.
I believe the only network that is doing the "come with music" version on contract is 3.

I have recently purchased an IPad Air. This comes with "IPhoto" as well as it's usual photo App. I do not have a Mac, instead I am syncing it to my windows PC. Is there any way of actually moving a picture around, (arranging photos in a single album), in either of these apps???? They claim to be able to "Organize"  or "arrange" Photos, but for the life of me I can't figure out how......could you recommend any apps that actually allow someone to move individual photos around on an IOS Device.

No, reordering within folders and albums is not supported. the yare arranged automatically by date. I found this, but I have not used any of the apps besides iPhone. You might check the descriptions to see if they do what you need.

  • I have a new macbook air that comes with iMovie '11 but not iDVD.  There seems to be no way for me to burn a DVD.  What can I do?

How can I get my project onto a DVD?  Why doesn't the computer come with iDVD?

    Hi
What's even worse is that Mac Book Air - Do not have any DVD-station at all !
You need a DVD-burner. There are external USB-connected ones.
You need DVD authoring program as iDVD or Roxio Toast@ or Burn (free)
    my General notes:
If there is no iDVD on Your Mac (and it's not on newer Macs as Apple discarded it) then You need a program that can do this.
Your Mac can burn CDs and DVDs (if it has a DVD-burner) - BUT DVD as Data-DVDs not as Video-DVDs - they need a program to be encoded and STRUCTURED as such.
    • iDVD is part of the boxed version of iLife'11 and can only be bought outside Apple as on Amazon and e-bay
    • DVD Studio pro - Part of FinalCut Studio Pro bundle - this to has expired and can only be bought second handed. (High price and tough learning Curve - but best ever done.)
    • Roxio Toast™ - Not as elegant as iDVD - but has many other positive additions (I like it as 10-Pro incl BD-component) (now version 11)
    • Burn - only free alternative I know of on internet. Very simple - Just for doing a plain Video-DVD
    Burn http://www.digital-digest.com/software/Burn.html
only You can buy from Apple is
    • FinalCut Pro-X which also can burn to DVD but without any nice themes.
    AppleMan1958
You can also buy Compressor from Apple for $50 US. It will also create DVD and BluRay but without the nice themes.

  • Created site in IWEB 08, works on Safari but looks different with Firefox?

I created a site with Iweb 08. I used Safari as the viewing browser and was happy with how the site looked. I then used Fetch to FTP the folder to the web server. When viewing the page on the server with Safari it was great, but when viewed with Firefox it was all frigged up. I didn't try it with Internet Destroyer cause personally I don't like it. I then published the page folder to Web.Mac.Com. The site works great on both browsers when accessed through web.mac.com. Is there something missing when accessing the site on my original server? My thought now is to remove the site from the original server and just bite the bullet and fly it on web.mac.com. Appreciate any thoughts

I think part of my problem was trying to move content made with Dream Weaver into IWEB. My site was made with Dream weaver originally. I pasted it into IWEB, thinking it was possible to do. It was to a point. I had to redo all my links and buttons and so on, but the pictures and text content seemed to look fine. After somewhat completing the site I published to a folder and used Fetch FTP to move the site to the server I was using. That is when i got the different looks in different browsers. I then published to the .mac server as I had a 60 day free trial. Low and behold the site looked good on the 2 browsers I have on my new IMAC. I switched over to the Windows side of the IMAC and logged into the site with IE 7. It looked good there too. So I ended up going with the .mac account to host the site
www.unitedpuett.com. I then had to redirect from Network Solutions, my registrar for the site, so when the address was typed in it would direct to the .mac server. This was another chore but was solved easily by
    http://networkcreators.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=492224%3ABlogPost%3A50148
It all seems to work as it should.
On another note, i read that Microsoft was releasing IE 8 beta. The big change was they were finally standardizing their browser to match all the others when opening pages.

No, there is not yet a way to do that. Albums created on the iPhone cannot be synced back to the mac.
You might try other ways to send photos back to the mac in a structured way, depending on your IOS version:
You could use Journals instead of albums. If you share a Journal, you can see it on your Mac.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3152

  • I need to write a paper for class. I have a MacBook Air but feel like I don't know what to do to create a document such I did with Microcoft word (Office). I am new to Apple.

I just bought the MAcBook Air but need to write a paper. I don't know how to create a file or document.

    You have several options--some free.
You can buy Office 2011 for Mac ( http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products )
Your computer should have come with iWork that includes Pages, an Apple word processor. It can create Word-compatible files. http://www.apple.com/mac/pages/
You can get the open-source (donationware) LibreOffice. Reads and writes Office files like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint: http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/

  • How does apple want me to create a DVD to play on my DVD player from iMovie? iDVD did not come with my iMac.

I have created several home movies in imovie and am now ready to burn them to DVDs that family members can play on their DVD players. How am I supposed to do this? iDVD did not come with my imac. How does apple want us to do this? Thanks.

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it, and how do I install it?
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband (and are prepared to pay for the considerable bandwidth usage) and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud, YouTube, Facebook, whatever) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. Some purchasers of new iMacs have reported that if you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone to Apple, they may send you a free copy of iDVD. Stating that they would return their brand new Mac unless they received a copy of iDVD worked for some, but that is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple.
Also, you can complain bitterly via Apple’s Feedback link, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between burning DVDs and distributing home movies by other means. You may feel that Apple should not dictate how you destribute family videos or photos to distant relatives and friends, and should not assume that every user is prepared to pay for the excessive bandwidth usage charged by ISPs for huge downloads from the App Store:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or that comes with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. As there is no satisfactory substitute for iDVD Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD 7, i.e. iLife version 9 onwards. You should also do this if you plan to buy a new Mac anytime soon, as stocks of iLife that include iDVD will not be available for ever.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast, which is the best software for burning anything but again does not offer the flexibility of iDVD.
It is worth noting that the version of iDVD 7 included with iLife 11 only includes themes from iDVD 5-7. If you want all the older themes you should buy iLife 9, which has the same version of iDVD 7 but with all the themes, and none of the iDVD 7 updaters available from Apple Downloads contain them.
Currently the only certain way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
    https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-21006826-20751 4/Installer001.jpg
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
    https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-21006826-20748 0/Pacifist001.jpg
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
But even though you can still buy iLife 9 or 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
When you try to install iDVD you may see a notice come up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March 2012, because Apple have withdrawn the license to it can no longer be used.
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After installing iDVD reset the time back to the correct time on your Mac.
You may be to use able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  Just click on the Continue button and it should work as expected, but for some it will not continue unless the date is  set back.
    Additional comments:
Apple has clearly indicated in the newest iMacs, Mac mini and Retina Display MacBook Pro that it plans to phase out optical disc drives as soon as possible across the board, providing an external USB drive as an option for users who need one but which is not universally compatible with all Macs.
Users increasingly have fewer opportunities to use optical drives, as the bulk of third party software is now available as a digital download either directly from the vendor or through Apple's App Store. but not all. Apple also sees digital distribution as the future of music and movies, as exemplified in Apple TV, which has never included an optical drive.
The company has never supported any new HD optical disc formats on its products, including Microsoft's ill fated HD-DVD or Sony's Blu-ray format, despite initially being involved in the Blu-ray standardization process. Instead, Apple has put its resources behind developing increasingly higher definition audio and video formats that it can distribute electronically through its own iTunes Store.
And if you think Microsoft are any better, their latest Windows 8 operating system will not play DVDs, or burn them, unless customers buy an extra upgrade, the company has announced:  http://www.gizmag.com/windows-8-no-dvd-playback/22443/
In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that. Flexibility and intuitive use of a computer seems to be a thing of the past.
The latest anorexic iMacs do not even include a CD drive (or Firewire)! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of optical media - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Partition my HD with Lion but it comes up with an error"

I'm trying to partition my HD with Lion but it comes up with an error" couldn't modify partition map because file system verification failed.
i have verified permissions and repair them all check out good. Any ideas?

    Ok try this.
Get a copy of your users file data folders (Music, Docs etc) off the machine onto a storage drive and disconnect it.
Do this in addtition to TimeMachine or clone backups, you need to have two copies and TM drives are not quite as easily accesible and can get corrupted.
1: Boot into Recovery HD (hold command and r keys down) and use Disk Utility to First Aid >Repair the drive, see if that works if it can't repair the drive, you have a more serious issue. If it does repair the drive, do it again until nothing is repaired.
2: Next use Disk Utility to Erase Free Space with Zero option on the Macintosh HD partition, this will map off bad sectors as DU will check the file it created for errors.
(#1 and #2 here fixed my issue trying to create a  partiton when DU failed.)
3: Try to create your new partiton again, I suggest you use the BootCamp software partitoning portion as it's drop dead easy and you can later use Disk Utility to change the format from MSDOS to something else, like OS X Extended for installing OS X or whatever format you require.
Or by Windows 7 installer which will change the format to NTFS for boot Windows in BootCamp.
    Drives, partitions, formatting w/Mac's + PC's
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
If DU doesn't repair the drive, next create a Recovery USB following these instructions and option key boot off of it and run Disk Utility on the entire drive to repair it.
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
If you can't repair the drive, your going to have to use Disk Utility on the USB to Erase with Security Zero Erase, (that's one step from the right selection), the ENTIRE drive (select the drive makers name and size on the right).
This will rebuild your partiton map (which can only be done booted from a external source) and fix your entire drive of bad sectors.
Now use the USB to reinstall Lion and Recovery from Apple's servers, you will need your AppleID and password,  plus a fast relaible Internet connection.
Next install your iLife by reading here
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Install your programs from original sources and create accounts with the same name, then return files from the storage drive you made earlier.
You can read about bad sectors on hard drives here
Reducing bad sectors effect on hard drives
