Hi all,
I am trying to import a .wmv file into FCP using Mac OS X, I dont usually do this, i usually capture my own footage but its bit of a home movie for a friend which they shot on there own small camera, but when i bring in this file it comes up with the Created by Flip4Mac Trail, www.flip4mac.com. across the footage in the viewer, it doenst show this when i open it normally in Quicktime, any ideas?

Yeah, the free F4M puts the watermark on stuff until you buy the license, but there aren't any free apps to convert wmv. Visual Hub is a little cheaper, but doesn't have as many features.
The only other thing, that I have not tried myself, is the conversion site HERE. Supposedly, it's a free thing, but I dunno whether there are any limitations.

If the message that is displaying is "Network connection timed out", disable any Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the comptuer or check with the company that supports the product on how to modify it to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet.

Save project created with trial version in Captivate 5.5 with license

I have a project created with Captivate6 trial version. Now I have a license for Adobe Captivate5.5. The content of my project with Captivate6 will expire when the trial period is over and will not be accessible. I cannot open the .cptx file with Captivate5.5. How can I save my work from the trial Captivate6 to the licensed Captivate5.5? This is the last day of my trail version. Please help as soon as possible.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
I'm so sorry, but there is no backwards compatility beteen 5.5 and 6. You cannot copy slides, objects from 6 to 5.5. You can try to export what is available in the Library, some objects you will hopefully be able to reuse in 5.5. But the project will have to be recreated from scratch.

Created files in trail version now having issues using file in CS3

Hi Everyone,
Hopefully someone can answer my question. I don't have much experience with Dreamweaver, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I downloaded the free trail version of Dreamweaver CS5.5 and starting creating a new site with it. My trial version has ran out so I would like to finish the files using the Dreamweaver CS3 that I currently own. I'm able to open the files and move things around. However, when I went to the draw an new AP Div, I draw the box and it just disappears. The new div labeled #apDiv 7 shows up under CCS Styles panel but I can't get the actually box to show up on the screen even when changing the attributes on the #apDiv 7 under the CSS Rule Definition Box. I can create a new document in CS3 and draw an AP Div just fine. I'm just not sure why the files I created in the trail version are not allowing me to add this element to the layout.

First thing.When you post a question here it helps immensely if you post a link to the page or the code from it if it isn't online.
Working strictly in APDivs is hardly the way to build a page/site anymore. As you have seen it isn't easy or functional.
In the CSS panel there are attributes listed for the APDiv and should show the positioning X and Y as well as the width and height. If you go into your CS3 preferences, there is a tab for APDiv dimensions and location defaults.
But as I said, APDivs are a pain because you constantly have to adjust margins and padding to make them work with the content inside and stay where you want them, and when you're dealing with monitors between 1024 and more than 2300 pixels across, a page full of APDivs can become scattered all over the place on a wide screen browser.

Hi azza675,
ExportPDF converts PDF files to Word and Excel formats (and several others). What you describe, sounds like you're trying to convert a file *to* PDF. Did you ever start a trial of Acrobat, perhaps? (Whereas you can create PDFs with Acrobat, ExportPDF doesn't let you convert files to PDF.)

How to create a breadcrumb trail

Hi Captivaters,
I am trying to write some eLearning content that basically allows you to drill down into further detail at the end of each slide.
So, for example I will have one slide that introduces some concepts and does some animation, making images appear and then disappear over, say, a 3 minute period. At the end of that slide, I present some buttons that allow you to jump to slides that offer more detail on specific subjects that were covered in the slide.
I have created the infrastructure to do this in Captivate and it works well .. except ...
I have created a 'Back' button on each of the 'child' slides to allow you to go back to the 'parent' - which would then allow you to drill down to some other child.
I am using an Advanced Action to store the Current Frame in a variable before jumping to the child slide so that the Back button on the child slide can use that variable to jump back to the end of the parent slide without having to go through the whole 3 minutes. This is working.
Now I want to extend this because the childs themselves can provide links to more detail with them ending up as parents.
I basically need to create a breadcrumb trail and to add and remove the last frame from the list when I go forwards or backwards through the course.
I have hit a brick wall at the moment.
For my 'Back' button I need to do something like this:
LastFrame = [code to return last entry from BreadCrumbTrail]
BreadCrumbTrail = [code to remove the last entry from BreadCrumbTrail]
rdcmndGoroFrame := LastFrame
-- BreadCrumbTrail is currently just a comma separated list of Frame numbers that gets appended to every time I click a button that goes to a child - I couldn't find a way of creating an Array variable 8)
One specific question would be whether it is possible to use operators like 'Substring' in value clauses. If that is possible, I could probably work it out myself.
Is there some command reference somewhere? Is this ActionScript? (Sorry .. I am a complete newbie trying to run before I can walk

What size still images work best for iMovie to create a book trailer?

I'm trying to create a book trailer using still images and text in iMovie. I purchased some 280px images from gettyimage and find they are too small. When viewed on a full screen the images are degraded. What size still image works best to make a book trailer in iMovie that will be posted on You Tube. Thanks in advance. I am an iMovie newbie.

iM supports a max. export resolution of 1920x1080 pixel ..
if you need to add Ken Burns effects, res should be, of course, higher..
no such thing as 'dpi' with video, only absolute pixels count ..
due to the many conversion processes happening on import, processing and export, care for as less compression as possible for the imported files ..
this YT-demo is done in iM09 with some pics from my Lib, native res of originals is ~6Mpix/~3MB size/jpegs ..

Can I create a movie trailer using still photos from iPhoto library

I am wondering whether I can create a movie trailer (like Epic Drama for example) using still images / photos from my iphoto library instead of using movie clips.
I have found out how to import photos in a normal project but I cannot do the same for a movie trailer project.

You can do this.
The trick is to convert your trailer to a project.
First, I would suggest going to the Project Library view and selecting your trailer. Then FILE/DUPLICATE and give the duplicate a name, like (Original Name - Backup).
Then, with the trailer selected in the Project Library, click FILE/CONVERT TO PROJECT.
Your trailer is now a project and you can add stills and use all the capabilities of iMovie.

Error while posting a sales order created with reference from contract for

I am posting a sales document( Type: WA) created with reference from contract document( type wk2) for delivery. The item category in the sales order of the Item is WAN. On posting this document for delivery I am getting the error as "Item category WAN is not defined". Please help me out how to resolve this issue.

I think its value contract releated error,
You suppose to check material item category group through T.code-MM02 into sales2 tab and maintain VCIT,
and do item category assignment through T.code- VOV4.
plz.maintain like that,
WK2 -          -VCIT-         -           - WAN(contract item category),
wk2 -          -        -VCTR-          - WAN((contract item category),
you should also maintain same against your standard Sales Document type and for Standard Item category into VOV4,
WA(standard docu.type) -VCIT-                             -                -TAN(your standard docu.type item category),

Same problem here (no graphics in header or footer) and the problem has been reported months ago. It is another bug/feature lost when Apple moves from 09 to the iCloud-compatible versions. Complain to Apple, you may have better chance than me and they may finally listen to their users....

is it possible to include SVG`s to a pdf report, which is created with FOP?
I read something like Batik....
Does anybody have any experiences about that?

Thank you, CtDave, for your speedy reply and for the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' knowledge base article. Word 2000 is one of Microsoft's masterpieces - by disabling 'autosave', the application is totally stable, does not require 'activation' by Microsoft. Acrobat 9 enables 'saving' of interactive .pdf forms, a most valuable feature and one much appreciated by anyone completiing such forms. There must be more to this issue than 'incompatibility', because I can create a test Word 2000 document, hyperlink a valid URL, convert to .pdf with Acrobat 9, and the hyperlink works fine in Acrobat 9. When I attempt to do this using a much more complex Word 2000 document, embedded with scores of hyperlinks, these links fail to work following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 9, but work fine following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 6. I can then use Acrobat 9 to open the .pdf created with Acrobat 6, and successfully edit any of these fully functional hyperlinks using the 'Link tool'. I don't know who prepared the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' article (AF1908DCd01) - no credits were cited, and I'm far from certain that this authentically belongs to Adobe's knowledge base. So I appreciate your sharing this information with me, but I cannot say that my question has been definitively answered. PDF created with LiveCycle will not display

All the other PDF links in the email work. However, the document created with LiveCycle give me this error in Firefox. I have made all the updates according to Firefox for Adobe Reader and Java. Still receiving this. Any suggestions??? I can see it in Explorer but not firefox or Chrome. Not everyone that will get this particular document will use Explorer. Unfortunately, I need a fast answer.

Well, since I fixed it in Chrome, it works for me. However, my partner beside me doesn't have Chrome and he gets the same generic screenshot that I had earlier, even though we made the changes in his Firefox. We're baffled...... The interactive form is the only form we can't pull.

When placing a PDF created with Distiller, I only get Crop and Media as import options -- I need it to crop to the Trim! PLEASE HELP!

I'm having a MAJOR problem placing PDF files in InDesign CS4...
When I try to place a PDF that has been created in Distiller, the ONLY import options I can choose are CROP and MEDIA. I need it to crop to the TRIM, but that option is grayed out. The PDFs I'm trying to place were created in-house, and converted from Post Script files to PDFs using Distiller. We use PDF/X-1a equivalent settings when creating our PDFs.
If I export the file as a PDF and then try to place it into a CS4 file, I am able to select Trim as an option.
ALSO, if I open the Distiller PDF in Acrobat and then save it (without changing anything), I am able to select Trim as an option. A workaround I have found is to open all of the PDF files in Acrobat, save them to my desktop, and then save over the ones I need to place. Here's the problem with that: I work for a publishing company, and need to place hundreds of ads for each issue of our publications, and it adds a lot of time if I have to go and re-save everything just to be able to place all the ads.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I need to get this figured out so we can use CS4 for all of our publications again. -- We've gone back to using CS3 until I can get this figured out...

Thanks for the reply, but my PDFs all have trim boxes on them. If I try to place the same PDF in InDesign CS3, it gives me Trim as an option. Also, if I open the PDF and save a copy to my desktop, I am able to select Trim as an option when placing the PDF, and I didn't change anything about it.
I've been trying to see if it's something with the Print Preset settings I'm using, but I can't find anything that seems like it would affect how InDesign would read the Trim area of the PDF.
I've attached 2 PDF files. One that was created with Distiller, and one that was exported from InDesign CS4. The Distiller one doesn't show Trim as an option in CS4, but the exported one does.... but they started out as the same ad. Ugh! Help me please!

Set Maximum size for a subpanel created with splitter bars in LV8

Does anyone know how to set the Maximum size for a subpanel created with asplitter bar? If I show one cluster in the subpanel and use the scroll bar to scroll, I can see more (blank) area than I want. I just want the user to be able to scroll a cluster within a subpanel while the cluster is larger than the view area of the subpanel. I don't want to let the user scroll outside the cluster.
