I am the Product Manager for Adobe CreatePDF app on iOS that we launced recently. We have recieved some questions and concerns from users on the app functionality and behavior on various forums for CreatePDF. Throught this post, we have tried to answer the most common questions and concerns . What can I do with Adobe CreatePDF?
CreatePDF can be used for converting common file formats into PDF files. The file formats that can be converted into PDF include:
·         MS Word (docx, doc), Excel(xlsx, xls), PowerPoint (pptx, ppt)
·         Adobe Illustrator (ai), Photoshop (psd) and InDesign (indd)
·         Images – JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIFF
·         RTF (rtf), Text (txt) and WordPerfect (wpd)
·         OpenOffice (odf, odt, odp, ods) and StarOffice documents (sxd, sxc, sxi, sxw, stw)
Are there file formats not supported by CreatePDF?
Any file format that is not listed above is not supported and hence cannot be converted to PDF using the app. Please note that the current version of the app (v1.0.X) does not support Pages, Numbers, and Keynote file formats for conversion to PDF.
How do I convert a file to PDF using CreatePDF?
The CreatePDF app works using ‘Open In’, an iOS feature for sharing files across applications. To convert a file to PDF using CreatePDF, you have to select ‘Open In’ in the app in which you have opened the file. If the file format is supported, you will see CreatePDF in the ‘Open In’ list. Select CreatePDF from that list to start conversion. If the file format is not supported, then CreatePDF will not appear in that list.
What are the Apps that support ‘Open In’?
There are a number of apps on iPad and iPhone that support ‘Open In’
·         Mail app supports ‘Open In’ for attachments (for limited file formats)
·         Cloud storage app like Dropbox (for limited file formats)
·         Office apps like Office2HD and Documents To Go
·         And a host of other applications
What about Apps that do not support ‘Open In’?
There are also apps that do not support ‘Open In’. If you are using one such app for viewing/opening a file, then you will not be able to use CreatePDF to convert it into PDF; even if the file format is supported. Some common apps on iPad and iPhone that do not have ‘Open In’ are listed below
·         Photos
·         Safari (Browser) for Web Pages
·         Mail for some file formats like Images
·         Notes
·         Contacts
Can I convert Web Pages to PDF using CreatePDF?
The current version of CreatePDF app (v1.0.X) does not support Web Pages. We plan to add this support in the near future. However, you can use the app to convert a file download from the web on Safari to PDF using ‘Open In’ from the browser viewer.
How do I convert Images to PDF using CreatePDF?
You can convert an Image to PDF by opening it in an app that supports ‘Open In’ e.g. SugarSync for iPad. Currently the Mail app on iPad & iPhone does not support ‘Open In’ for Image attachments.
Can I open PDF files using CreatePDF?
The CreatePDF app helps you to convert a supported file to PDF. After conversion you can also view the converted PDF file in the app. But, you cannot open an existing PDF file using this app via ‘Open In’ (CreatePDF will not be listed in ‘Open In’ since PDF is not one of the supported file formats). You can view a PDF file using the iOS built-in viewer.
I have opened a CreatePDF supported file format in an app that has ‘Open In’ but I cannot see CreatePDF in the ‘Open In’ list?
Try scrolling down to see if the app is somewhere below in the list. If it is not there, then it could be because of the upper limit on the number of apps that can be shown in the ‘Open In’. So, in this case it is possible that the upper limit is already reached and hence CreatePDF is not showing in the list. You can uninstall/delete a few of the other apps in the list, then you should see CreatePDF in the list.

CreatePDF is a PDF creator application. You can use it to create PDF files from the supported file formats. It is not an application for opening/viewing PDFs or PDF portfolios.

IOS Remote Desktop app and computers connected to SBS 2008--can't get it to work

I can connect directly to the server without a remote resource in the IOS app.
But I'd like to be able to connect to computers in the office like we can through RWW. RWW works fine, but not from my phone. (Yes I can connect to the server and take over computers from the phone but I don't want other people in the office to log
into the server first!).
I can never get the remote resources section in the app to connect. I usually get "Unable to locate any remote resources for the URL". error in the resources section. I've tried a simple "https://remote.domain.com", "https://remote.domain.com:987",
etc.
We have a self-signed certificate. I can't think of anything in the server setup that is anything other than normal.
I can do direct connect using "Remote Desktop Connection" in windows 7. In the remote desktop server settings I just put remote.domain.com and "Ask for password (NTLM)" for the login method. Then on the general tab I have just the
simple computer name and the domain\username. That's all I had to setup to get that to work.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you setup RD Gateway server in your environment? Are you trying to access the RWW through it?
On server side you can choose “Bypass RD Gateway server for local addresses” under RemoteApp manager and check the result.

What happened to the createPDF mobile app.

I can't find it in the app store anymore and links to it on the adobe website lead nowhere. Has this been discontinued? Any alternatives available?

Never got a response so I bought Office Suite Pro 6 from the Google Play store. It goes on sale every now and then. Picked it up for 99 cents. Has in-app converion of word to pdf (ie, not cloud based). Works fine and pretty good Office app too. Hope this helps.

I have the same question. I was fixing to buy it but for some reason the App store says its not available in the US. Anyone else have a response?

CreatePDF is not working

I am VERY unhappy with your app. All I tried to do is create a multi-page PDF out of images. I have not created a single PDF with it and would like to return your app.
PS: Apple does not provide refunds anymore. If I tell them in Itunes there's a problem with an app, they send me here, stating that you are in charge of the refunds now.

I can easily prove that I have purchased the app through my iTunes account
with this mail address and then you can refund me directly, since apple
does not do that.
or i can give you the next bad review...
which i don't want to do.
so please, work with me here. i k ow you can do something.

Automaticly sync photos from iphone to shared folder on windows server 2012 r2

Hey,
I'm making photo's of cars for a company and we got a server running locally. I make photo's with my iPhone and i used to use dropbox for auto syncing pictures with the dropbox cloud and access from my pc.
Since dropbox is too slow and we got a server running with big amounts of storage i want my iPhone to sync with my server instead of my dropbox. i already got a shared folder and a network drive for this.

How do I use mobile link to view documents on more than one device?

I have documents on my iPhone and want to send them to my iPad using Mobile Link. How do I do this?

For this you can simply upload the doc to files.acrobat.com and send the link to the recipient via Adobe Send.
Anyone having the link would be able to access the doc.
Alternatives would be Google Drive or One Drive.

Adobe AIR skips Flash Player security sandbox

When I installed the first Adobe AIR Showcase demo, I felt
curious about how will it install itself from inside Flash Player
sandbox. So I clicked "install", and it really installed something
on my own \Program Files ! without my confirmation
How can it be possible, I thought Flash Player had a sandbox
but it looks as it adoble is able so skip it.
If it is publicly available (and not a backdoor), I could use
it to install some ActiveX controls my web application needs to
interact with Excel.
I checked the flash player 9 security pdf document, and it
looks as it flash documents should not be able to write anything to
my local disk.

Adobe AIR and Adobe´s About Flash -site?

I encountered a strange thing while checking if I have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed.
When I go to About Flash page (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) I instantly get the following notification on separate window:
"Adobe AIR
Something went wrong trying to install this application.
Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair and then try again."
I´dont have Adobe AIR installed on my computer. Notification shows up with Firefox and Safari and only when I´m logged in as an Administrator. My operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.
My questions are 1) Has anyone else encountered the same thing? 2) why does About Flash page communicate with Adobe AIR?

Could not start program with Version 8.0.25010

After I updated version 8.0.25010 I could not start the program and screen shows a warning " NtlmWebAuthException:2"

If possible please try to reinstall and then check the result. Apart from that, have you make any changes related to connection setting on server side? Have you provided RD Gateway address or you are connecting directly?

Problems converting Wrod doc (2007) to PDF with Adobe Acrobat 8.x

I have been trying to save a word document (2007) to PDF. If I open Acro
bat and try to do it there by selecting a file I get a message that says unexpected error - no details. If
i try from Word, the file appears to process but there is no document.
I see nothing on line that answers this question.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. While I can't help with your Acrobat question (you're not in the Acrobat forum, but rather in the Acrobat.com forum), I can tell you that there are two online services that can do this conversion for you:
1. Acrobat.com (www.acrobat.com) is a service for creating and sharing files, as well as web conferencing;
2. Adobe CreatePDF (http://createpdf.acrobat.com) is a service solely for creating PDF files from existing documents.
I would recommend either of those services to you for creating PDF files from your existing Word documents, as well as from image files and other text files (for a full list of supported documents, please see http://createpdf.acrobat.com/faq.html).
For help solving the Acrobat problem, you'll probably want to re-post your question to the forum on the Acrobat User Community site: www.acrobatusers.com/forum

If you are really running iOS (on an iPad or iPhone), you are probably asking the wrong question. IOS CreatePDF

Using the new iOS CreatePDF app on iPad....
How can you convert an InDesign document from the iPad? There is no way to get the "Open in CreatePDF" command when selecting a .indd document either in an email or elsewhere on the iPad. Same question about others format like .Ai & .PSD and all mentioned in the announcement.thanks!

On another page (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3904202) the prod mgr says clearly that it is supposed to currently support those files. I would hope that would be updated.
More importantly, though, I just want to say: What the heck is Adobe thinking?! This is a $9.99 app that apparenlty not only doesn't do what the product manager (and itunes store) says it does, but also doesn't appear (from user reviews) to work well at all. But the worst part is that even the product manager says that if you want a good PDF viewer, you should buy one of the third-party apps!
Umm... hello? Adobe? Remember when you told us that PDF was ubiquitous and that we'd always be able to use Adobe Reader on all major platforms? You released an iOS app that converts word docs to PDF and you don't even let us view PDF files we already have?
Yes, I know you can't push the Flash player or even the ability to play scripts inside PDFs. But come on, folks! At least give us a decent PDF reader for free, like you do on Linux, Mac OS, adn Windows.
