Creating 10gAS report server cluster

Please guide us to create 10g Report Server Cluster
version 10.1.2.0.2
platform RHEL-4
Regards,
Achyot

Hi ,
There is no need for setting up a common mapped drive as cache. You can specify their own individual cache directories
* Server does duplicated job check in this server first
* If it did not find, sends request to all servers in the cluster
* If a server in the cluster has duplicated job, the job will be sent to that server to fetch the cached output
So there is not need for common mapped cache directory.
I read the note you mentioned. In the common settings required for cluster-members mentioned there, I could not find "cachedir" (If that is why you put a common directory) . Some settings could be different in cluster members.
Thanks

  • Is there any way to create a VMvmare server cluster?

    Hi,
I have two machines which don't support install ESXi, these machines are running centos 5 with no X and I installed vmware server 2.0.
My question is, is there any way to create a vmware server cluster like is possible create in ESX?
I know in ESX once you create a cluster, the resources are increased since resources are added. Is there any way to do same thing with vmware server 2.0?
Also is there any other option for my machines, I don't want to install X since the machines don't have much resource.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the COmmunit - With VMware server each environment functions independently and there is no way to pool resources as you can with a DRS cluster - and remembering even in a DRS cluster the VMs swill only run on a single host at a time as they would in VMware Server machines/
Also just because it is not suppported does not mean you will not be able to create a VM with an unsupported OS -

  • How to create the Report Server tnsnames entry

    Hi
I'm trying to integrate Oracle Forms with Oracle Reports and the document says that I have to know the tnsnames.ora entry for the report server. In other versions it was created automatically but in 11g there is no configuration. How do I configure this?
    Regards,
    Néstor Boscán

In 11g in the opmn.xml the environment variable TNS_ADMIN is set for the reports servers; in addition to the "normal" location under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin you have to add a tnsnames.ora in $INSTANCE_HOME/config if memory serves (just take a look in the opmn.xml for the exact location)

  • Unable to create a reports server to test web.show_document in Forms 10.1.2

    Hi all,
In Forms 10.1.2 DS, I'm trying to use the web.show_document built-in to 'generate' a report from a .jsp file. This JSP file was created by wizard through creating a report object in the Object Navigator. The code I'm using from a push button is as follows:
    web.show_document('http://<hostname>:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=<dirpath>\Sales.jsp&userid=<username/password@connectstring&server=<server_name>'
As far as I am aware no 'reports server' has been created so I've tried the following command in a dos window:
    rwserver -install <server_name>
but this just raises an 'alert' indicating that I should consult an installation guide to setup and install the server. So my questions are:
    (1) Is what I'm trying to do supported in DS?
    (2) What installation guide should I consult?
Any information on this would be gratefully appreciated,
    Kevin.

    Hi Inol,
Thanks for the response. I agree with the comment about exposing user details, I'm just doing a bit of experimenting at the moment! I tried to do what you suggest in terms of changing the URL but whether I reference the server or leave it out, the subsequent browser session seems to hang and then eventually I get a 'Page Not Found' response. On using the URL 'http://127.0.0.1:8889/reports/rwservlet/showenv?', I get an 'Access Denied' Error Page. Is there something additional I need to set up with regards to Reports to get this to work?
    regards,
    Kevin.

The problem we are having when the second member of a cluster is down the report server component complaints with somw internal error...

    3. Connection factories target: admin server; JMS server target: admin          server
              > -> Potential drawback - The MDB has to maintain a queue connection with a
              server
              > that is not part of the cluster. (Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
              I'm
              > not sure if this introduces extra time taken for the MDB to receive its
              messages
              > and for it to send the processed messages to the queue.
Admin server is not supposed to participate in the cluster. I wouldn't
deploy anything on the admin server.
I think my personal preferene would be connection factories to the cluster
              and use distributed destinations.

  • Want to Create a Report Server Kindly Help?

    Hello Everyone,
My name is Sarmad and I am a student of BS(Software Engineering) in 5th semester now. I have assigned a project on 'Oracle Report Server'. My instructor requirements are that it should generate 'Matrix Reports' and i have to use Oracle Database 10g XE. I have researched a lot on Internet and found that following tools are necessary to make a report server on Oracle for Win 7 32 Bit OS:
    1. Oracle Forms and Reports 11g for Win 7 32 Bit
    2. Oracle Web Logic Server 11g (10.3.5) for Win 7 32 Bit
    3. Oracle Data Base 10g XE for Win 7 32 Bit
Therefore, I installed Data base first and then i installed Web Logic Server and integrated my Data base's sample DB HR within the 'Data Sources' link present in Web Logic Server's Administration Console. Connection test went successful for Web Logic Server and Database. Then i installed Oracle Forms and Reports for Development mode and it also installed successfully on my system.
Now the issue is that i want to integrate Oracle Reports and Forms services with Oracle Web Logic Server. I don't know how to do that and also i don't have any idea whether i may need any further tools or these are enough to generate reports as i think that there should be some Report Layout builder so that data coming from Web Logic Server should be presented in that layout i.e. Matrix Layout.
Kindly help me out in this and guide me through.
    Thanks!

    hi
I am not saying wrong about this question but how can you expect some one to give the code..if you any doubt in terms of logic or if u need any clarification on the functionality how the element behave, the people around here would definitely help you out...
But straight forward asking the code i believe you might not get the correct answer sometimes..Narrow down your question so that people around here could help you out if they can

    Hi,
I have tried to create and start a new reports server instance using the following method:
1- Creating the report server instance:

Any ideas as to why the reports server instance cannot be started?
I have tried rebooting the server many times and have recreated other reports server instances but with no luck.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Chris

On Windows this is caused most often by the temporary directory setting.
Change the temporary directory to some fixed directory writable by anybody, e.g. "C:\temp".
    Change this in:
    Registry entry: hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\key_<oashome>\REPORTS_TMP
<oashome>\opmn\conf\opmn.xml: search for environment variable TEMP (under ias-instance)
    Good luck!

    I'm trying to install a A WLS(11.3.2) and Forms/Report 11g (11.1.1.2 bundle) on a Linux RedHat 5.5.
But when the configuration tools of Forms/Reports is trying to create the reports server I got the following error:

  • Configuration Manager 2012 R2 - SRS Reporting Services not configuring Report Server

    Hi all,
I am running stand-alone primary site and remote (shared) SQL 2012 SP1 on Windows 2012 R2 Standard. Remote SQL server is currently hosting multiple instances and Configuratoin Manager is running on a custom instance. SCOM databases also co-exist on the same
SQL environment (different instance with SSRS installed & running perfectly).
After setting up the Reporting Services role on Configuration Manager environment,  srsrpsetup.log & srsrpMSI.log states installation is successful. However, when monitoring srsrp.log file, we encounter the below message -

    Steps taken so far -
    1. Switched reporting services to run from local system account to domain account.
    2. Created new Report Server database on our instance and reconfigured Reporting Services to this DB.
    3. Un-installed and re-installed Reporting Services role in Configuration Manager
    4. Un-installed and re-installed SSRS on Configuration Manager (dedicated) SQL instance after removing Reporting Services role in CM12.
I have referred couple of links on forum and none seem to help resolve this issue.
Let me know if there is anything specific I missed out from my end. Appreciate any assistance.

It seems that Reporting Services for SCOM and SCCM cannot co-exist on the same server (it sounds like a bad idea anyway)

  • 2Gb Temp Size Limit / Reports Server

    Hi everybody,
We are experiencing a problem with Reports 6i Server (NT) that bugs when the size of the tempfile generated to create the output (in our case : pdf) equals 2Gb ...
My question is : is it a reports server bug ? And, if so, do you know if it is corrected in 10gAS Reports Server ?
    Thank you everybody ...

    That is
Bug1309259 - ELIMINATE THE 2GB FILE SIZE LIMITATION FOR TEMP FILE SIZE
and is not fixed yet (in 10g).
    1) If this is critical to you, and you have a support contract, you can try escalating the bug with Oracle Support.
    2) When somebody else reported this for their particular report, how it was solved was that their particular report was tuned and optimised and this issue was solved. (So you can also try tuning your report and SQL queries)

  • Reports Server 6. installation problem on NT

    Hi,
I am trying to install Dev2k Reports server on NT4, SP3. I created the Report server service, configured it to start up service as my user account.
The starting up of the service fails. In the ORAHOME/Rerpot60/server/*.log file I keep getting the 'Daemon failed to listen to port.' error message. I simply have not got a clue, what may be the problem.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

  • SQL 2012 R2 - SSRS with the Report Server Web Service URL, can't access

    Hello:
I am installing Dynamics CRM 2013.  When I am on RS Configuration manager; I am running into the SSRS (SQL 2012 on Server 2012)SQL issue, can't access the
    http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or
    http://servername/:Reports web pages
The database server has SSRS native mode installed, it is using a domain account for the service credentials.  This account also has permission to log on a service in the GPO
Account is a domain admin and is a local administrator
SQL server is 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2012.  User base is less than 60 people and they have SharePoint 13 on the same SQL server.  Server more than enough resources.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks..Dan

    Hi DCas1,
According to your description, you could not access
http://servername/:80/ReportsServer or http://servername/:Reports web pages from Reporting Services configuration manager, SSRS in configured in native mode and the account you used is a local administrator.
In Reporting Services, URLs are used to access the Report Server Web service and Report Manager. Before we can use either application, we need to configure at least one URL each for the Web service and Report Manager. If we are using the Reporting Services
Configuration tool to create or modify the URLs, we can accept the default values for a URL or specify custom values. When we create a report server URL, we must specify the following parts: Host name, port and Virtual directory. In order to improve the efficiency
of troubleshooting, I need to ask several questions:
Since the default URL is http://<computername>/reportserver, did you type the URLs manually? or the URLs configured in Reporting Services configuration manager are
    http://servername/:80/ReportServer and
    http://servername/:Reports?
Could you provide detailed information of error log(default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)?
For more information about Configuring a URL, please refer to the following documents:

  • Weblogic, Forms and reports 11g - help with report server

    Hi Everyone
To start with i'm very new to forms and reports (3 months!!!) so my question may sound a bit silly.
At the moment we have 10 apps using forms and about 6 of them using reports. All the reports get run from the forms. We are upgrading forms and reports from 10g to 11g and the dev teams are not willing to recode the forms to pick up ENVID's etc. i have 1 reports server running and have configured to run one of the apps reports but my question is how do i get the other apps to run under that report server, can this be done.
I have thought about creating a report sever for each app but not sure if this is best practice and a bit over kill.
Would i be wrong to create a report server for each app.
    Thanks
Edited by: Zantie on May 11, 2011 2:27 PM

    Hi,
If both apps are using the same middle-tier home, then forms built-in run_report_object should submit reports to the this url. i.e <protocol://<mid-tier or LBR>:<port>/reports/rwservlet?. Assuming you are using the in-process reports server no need to specify reports_server parameter. Also if the envid is missing, you can move all the .rdf or .rep files to the default reports server directory $mid-tier_home/reports/samples/demo directory.
