Creating a CNN, Sky type news ticker

Hi,
I have a three minute video and would like to add a news ticker that will loop once during the three minutes. The ticker text is considerable. Before I used to use Sony Vegas. A video I created using Sony Vegas is at http://youtu.be/bmcXM7fE6s0 (jump to 35 seconds into the footage for the ticker at the bottom).
I managed to get credits type text (scrolling vertically) with Premiere Pro but cannot figure out the ticker. Although I've done an introductory Lynda.com course on Premiere Pro this is my first attempt at producing something with Premiere to upload to youtube and am a newbie in this product.
I would be greatful if anyone can point me to a text or video tutorial on this item.

More detailed steps:
Create a new Title (right-click in the project area, click the icon, etc.)
Set it to the sequence dimensions (the default)
Choose the Type tool (the T symbol) - NOT the Area Type tool.
Click once at the bottom-left of the screen, at the vertical position where you want the ticker to be.
Pick the font, size, color, fill, etc on the properties tree that now displays.
Click again on the small vertical box marking the position of the type box, you'll see it flash as the cursor wakes up.
Copy and paste your ticker text - it must be all on one line, so it helps to copy it from a text editor.
The text box will enlarge to fit, so it'll extend waaay off the right side of the window.
Click the Roll/Crawl options tool (the second icon below the name of the title on the panel tab, a set of lines with a vertical arrow)
Choose Crawl Left, and (usually) start/end off screen.
Click OK and close the titler window.
Drop the new title onto the sequence timeline and stretch it out to set the in/out points, and hence the crawl speed.
If you want a lower third background graphic behind the text (anything other than a plain fill), you'll need to put that in another video track beneath your ticker title - everything in your ticker title will crawl.

An abstract data type is one whose internal representation can be changed without needing to modify the source code of client modules that make use of that type. For software maintainability, it is a good idea to make a type that is subject to change or enhancement into an abstract data type. Another reason to create an abstract data type is to enforce invariants for values of the type that can only be ensured by using constructor functions (i.e. functions that return values of that type). In principle it is simple to create an abstract data type in CAL. For an algebraic data type, make the type constructor public and all data constructors private. For a foreign data type, make the type constructor public and the implementation scope private. If a scope qualifier is omitted, the scope is taken to be private. For Color, the issue is somewhat more subtle. The java.awt.Color implementation type is semantically the same as the CAL Color type. The problem is that java.awt.Color is mutable (since it can be sub-classed to create a mutable type). It is preferable for a first-class CAL type to not be mutable, so we simply make the implementation scope private to ensure that this will be the case. A somewhat less encapsulated kind of abstract data type can be created using friend modules and protected scope. For example, if an algebraic type is public, and all its data constructors are protected, then the data constructors can be accessed in the friend modules of the module in which the type is defined. Effectively this means that the implementation of the semantics of the type stretches over the module in which the type is defined, and all of its friend modules. These must all be checked if the implementation of the type is modified. Given the merits of abstract data types discussed above, it is perhaps surprising that most of the core types defined in the Prelude module are not abstract data types. For example: Boolean, Char, Int, Double, String, List, Maybe, Either, Ordering, JObject, JList, and all record and tuple types are non-abstract types. There are different reasons for this, depending on the particular type involved. For example, Boolean, List, Maybe, Either and Ordering are all rather canonical algebraic data types with a long history in functional languages, with many standard functions using them. They are thus guaranteed never to change. In addition, their values have no particular design invariants that need to be enforced via constructor functions. Exposing the data constructors gives clients some additional syntactic flexibility in using values of the type. For example, they can pattern match on the values using case expressions or let patterns. Essentially the same explanation holds for record and tuple types. Although non-tuple record types are less canonical, they do correspond to the fundamental notion of an anonymous named-field product type. For example, we want clients to know that Prelude.Int is essentially the Java primitive unboxed int type, and has all the semantics you would expect of the Java int type i.e. this is quite different from RelativeDate which is using int as its implementation type in a very tactical way that we may choose to change. One can think of a public foreign type declaration with public implementation scope as simply introducing the Java type into the CAL namespace. One interesting point here is with CAL's naming convention for public foreign types. We prefix a type name by "J" (for "Java") for foreign types with public implementation type such that the underlying Java type is mutable. This is intended as mnemonic that the type is not a pure functional type and thus some caution needs to be taken when using it. For example, Prelude.JObject has public Java implementation type java.lang.Object. In the case where the underlying Java type is not mutable, we do not use the prefix, since even though the type is foreign; it is basically a first class functional type and can be freely used without concern. For example, Prelude.String has public Java implementation type java.lang.String. In the case where the implementation type is private, then the fact that the type is a foreign type, whether mutable or not, is an implementation detail and we do not hint at that detail via the name. Thus Color.Color has as its private Java implementation type the mutable Java type java.awt.Color. When creating abstract data types it is important to not inadvertently supply public API functions that conflict with the desired public semantics of the type. For example, if the type is publicly a pure-functional (i.e. immutable) type such as Color, it is important not to expose functions that mutate the internal Java representation. A more subtle case of inadvertently exposing the implementation of a type can occur with derived instances. Scrolling news ticker? Anyone?

Anyone know of an iMovie plugin that creates a decent scrolling news ticker? As in a lower-thirds CNN, FOX, CNBC, etc style- Stupendous Software has one, but it's pretty simple, and Slick doesn't seem to have anything apparent. I could probably use LiveType with FCP, but I'm looking for something that'll save me some time.

This is a dynamic project. If it is constantly checking for
news and then displaying it, this sounds like a good place for some
spry framework.
It is advanced but you can do it. Go to:

Also www.lynda.com has a ton of courses that will help. It is
a subscription site, but if you really want to learn, it is worth
trying for a month for $25, and if you like it you can do a yearly.
You can really pack a lot into that one month though.

VF11 wrongly created with RV Doc type and with not clear status.

Hi All
Issue: There are 2 billing documents which were created(VF01) in March are canceled (VF11) in May. Cancel document is saved with a message (No automatic clearing of billing document XXXXXXXXX) and message diagnosis saying that u201CThe Automatic clearing of billing document and reversal is not possible. This may be, for example, because the line item update is deactivatedu201D
In the SD document flow cancel billing document is created and it's posted to accounting with Document type RV(which is not configured in the billing types) and it is in not clear status.
2 Sales order types are ZNRC(No Rebate u2013 Credit)    second is ZCR (CM Req With Refer).
Order Type : ZNRC , Billing type :ZG2, Cancel billing type :Z5, Accounting document in billing type for ZG2: is DG and accounting document in cancel billing type Z5 is :(_) blank.
Order type: ZCR Billing type :G2, Cancel billing type :S2, Accounting document in billing type for G2: is DG and accounting document in cancel billing type S2 is :(_) blank.
      FI document type Not maintained in the cancel billing type configuration because this should be determine by reversal document type DA which is maintained in DG document type from FI side. It will be triggered in VF11)
The above configuration is working with the order created VA01,billing VF01 and cancelling VF11 done in same period. If the order and billing done in old period and canceling(VF11) done in current period than FI document creating with RV document type and with not clear status in the document flow.
I reviewed similar issues with SAP Note and with below explanation:
          "There are 2 procedures that are possible when Vf11 is posted.
          Old Procedure - An FI "Reversal" document was created that was not connected with the orignal.
          New Procedure - A Real FI reversal was carried out with clearing."
In this case, our system is following with new procedure except above mentioned orders created in previous period and and canceled in current period.
My Questions are: How the RV document is getting triggered here? why the cancel document (Reversal FI Doc) is not clearing?
     Appreciate your answers or suggestions.

I referred SAP note 1259505 and 339928. But initially we thought of none of the symptoms mentioned in the SAP note are matching with our issue. Then we contacted SAP online support and they suggested checking one SAP note (Mentioned above).
Our system is following new cancellation procedure, but itu2019s failing only for some few documents.
Finally we identified several reasons for the issue. One is profitability segment in the billing document and cancelled document is different due to some changes in segment assignments. Another one is consolidation- consolidation document does not exist in the billing document list but it is getting created in Canceled document (VF11).(Consolidation postings are switched off some time back and now itu2019s on)
After some discussions it is decided to include accounting document type (Reversal) in cancel billing types to avoid default RV document type in canceled billing document accounting document. And non-cleared documents need to be created manually in F-32.

How to create an External Content Type with SQL Stored Procedures Parameters and query it in a SharePoint App

Hi,
I'm new to SharePoint 2013 I want to be able to query a MSSQL database from a SharePoint App I have tried to create an External Content Type (ECT) which is produced from a MSSQL stored Procedure, this procedure has several parameters which are needed to
filter the data correctly. From here I want to produce an external list which I can then query from a c# SharePoint app. If I leave the filters in the ECT null then the list is of course empty or if enter a default values the results are limited
for the app to query so are no good.
I want to dynamically pass values to the ECT when querying from the app, is this not possible. Should I just be returning everything in an external list and then letting the query in the app filter the data, this seems inefficient?
Is this the best way to do this or should I be doing this differently?
Please can someone point me in the right direction.

How to create a people picker type metadata in a document set?

Hi folks,
I want to create a people picker type metadata in a document
set (it has some content types and it resides inside a library).
So please help me knowing steps for creating it.
Our web application is using classic based authentication therefore I want to retrieve the names and groups in people picker column from Active Directory.
Also, the document set library for which I want to create people picker metadata did not had document set before and documents where saved directly in content types as well as the metadata that now we are making as people picker was before of type Single line
of text.
So, whether after creating it of type people picker, at the time of moving documents into document set, it will create problem? If yes,than of of what kind and how can it be resolved?

From your description, I know you want to add a people picker column in a document set, then add this document set into a document library.
If you want to add a people picker column in a document set you should create a document set first. After creating a document set, you can follow these steps below to add a people picker column in a document set: click Site Actions -> Site Settings -> under Galleries section, Site content types -> find the content you want to add people
picker column -> under Columns section, Add from new site column -> Name and Type, enter your column name and choice Person or Group -> OK.
If you move documents into document set, it will keep the current properties. You can edit properties to change the document to another content type which is contained in the document set.
In my case, DocA is the content type of the document library, Document and DocB are content types of the document set.

You have 2 potential solutions in your case :
1- Sub-class TextNullable class of Framework and add your methods in the
sub-class.
This is the way Domain class work. Only Nullable classes are sub-classable.
This is usefull for Data Dictionary.
The code will be located in any partition that uses or references the supplier
plan.
2- Put your add on code on a specific class and instanciate it in your user
classes (client or server).
You could also use interface for a better conception if needed. The code will
also be in any partition that uses or references the supplier plan where your
add on class is located.
If you don't want that code to be on each partition, you could use libraries :
configure as library the utility plan where is your add-on class.

GenericArray add-on) with the "QuickSort & List" sample on my personal site

Your question about "utility classes" brings up a number of issues, all of
which are important to long-term success with Forte.
There is no such thing as a static method (method that is associated with a
class but without an implicit object reference - this/self/me "pointer") in
TOOL, nor is there such thing as a global method (method not associated
with a class at all). This is in contrast to C++, which has both, and
Java, which has static methods, but not global classes. Frequently, Forte
developers will write code like this:
result, num : double;
// get initial value for num....
tmpDoubleData : DoubleData = new;
tmpDoubleData.DoubleValue = num;
result = tmpDoubleData.Sqrt().DoubleValue;
tmpDoubleData = NIL; // send a hint to the garbage collector
in places where a C++ programmer would write:
double result, num;
// get initial value for num....
result = Math::Sqrt(num);
or a Java programmer would write:
double result, num;
// get initial value for num....
result = Math.sqrt(num);
The result of this is that you end up allocating an extra object now and
then. In practice, this is not a big deal memory-wise. If you have a
server that is getting a lot of hits, or if you are doing some intense
processing, then you could pre-allocate and reuse the data object. Note
that optimization has its own issues, so you should start by allocating
only when you need the object.
If you are looking for a StringUtil class, then you will want to use an
instance of TextData or TextNullable. If you are looking to add methods,
you could subclass from TextNullable, and add methods. Note that you will
still have to instantiate an object and call methods on that object.
The next issue you raise is where the object resides. As long as you do
not have an anchored object, you will always have a copy of an object on a
partition. If you do not pass the object in a call to another partition,
the object never leaves. If you pass the object to another partition, then
the other partition will have its own copy of the object. This means that
the client and the server will have their own copies, which is the effect
you are looking for.
Some developers new to Forte will try to get around the lack of global
methods in TOOL by creating a user-visible service object and then calling
methods on it. If you have a general utility, like string handling, this
is a bad idea, since a service object can reside only on a single
partition.
Summary:
* You may find everything you want in TextData.
* Unless you anchor the object, the instance will reside where you
intuitively expect it.
* To patch over the lack of static methods in TOOL, simply allocate an
instance when required.

File created with Document Content Type will not be saved back to Sharepoint library

Recently some of our users, after upgrading to Windows 8.1 with Office 2013, intermittantly are not able to save files created using document content types template back to sharepoint library. Instead the location is set
to their local storage. The same templates used by Windows 7 users with Office 2010 are working fine. Setting the SP sites as Trusted location in IE and Clearing IE Cache did not help. Adding the SP site in Word Trusted Location did
not help. Any suggestions how this can be resolved is appreciated. Thanks.

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not save office file back to the SharePoint Document library.
It may have to something with your Word Settings. When you click new and it opens in MS Word, word treats it as unsafe because perhaps it is not saved. To make it work:
Go to Word (2013) -> File Menu -> Options -> Trust Center -> Trust Center Settings
-> Protected View Tab -> Uncheck "Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations" (2nd option)

If the issue persist, you can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

OWS-00102 Reason for not creating a custom Java type: simple or mixed conte

Hi ,
I am generating the java proxies from a WSDL file in Jdeveloper and I am getting the below warning.
WARNING: OWS-00102 Mapped {http://xmlns.fmr.com/systems/dev/aar/requests}ViewRequestStatusResult to javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement ViewRequestStatusResult. Reason for not creating a custom Java type: simple or mixed content is not supported.
I have tried using Jpub as well, but it does not work as well.
I am very new to JAVA and It seems some java code needs to be created. can any one please help me how to resolve this issue.

You can only remove the 'Warning JavaScirpt" is by creating a special application folder script for the 'app.response' method that uses the 'trustedFuncton' to suppress this security warning. Then in you form, you will need to test for this function and either issue a warning about the missing function or run the 'app.response' code and live with the warning. Each system will need the special application folder script installed on it.

This works fine and I would like to include some dynamic content into this script. Either some page iteme content or even some query results. My java script knowledge is quite "skinny" so I got to ask how to do that?

I just came across your thread.
Just replace within
var marqueecontent='This is where my text goes.'...
the: "THIS is where the text goes." with: &P1_text.
and you can manipulate the text dynamically.
Ofcourse you hv to create the item P1_text and shortly after you keyed in s.th. and push "Enter" - then the data is in the Session (look at Session in Developer bar).
After "Enter" the ticker/marquee works with your data.
Alternative 2:
Define in Application Attributes under Static Substitution Strings a "GLOBAL_ITEM" with a value: say: my News - then replace &P1_TEXT. by &GLOBAL_ITEM. (beware of the '.' after the item !!! it has to be there !!
Alternative 3:
Work with a table:
A)Define a table called "NEWS" with the fields News_id, text, active_inactive - work with sequence..
B) Define form and report for data entry. In the form go to the item "active_inactive" and modify iot to be a radio-button with LOV : STATIC: Yes,No
C) still use the item P1_text and in the attributes of the item go to "Source" - select "SQL-Query" and key in:
select text from news where active_inactive = 'Yes' - modify the P1_text item as "hidden"
--> now you can manage your news and just the "Active" news are shown.
Advanced: make sure, that only one record is active !!

No option to create a .Mac account type

I've noticed that I no longer have the option available to create a .Mac account type. Only IMAP, POP and Exchange are available. This used to work ok, but since I had some mail problems a while ago and I was deleting the plist files, etc, and re-installed mail, this option has now disappeared.
I have again deleted the mail plist preferences file, but the option to create a .Mac account is unavailable.
I do have access to my .Mac mail by setting it up as an IMAP account, but I miss out on .Mac specific features, such as being able to select my alias addresses to send from.
Does anyone have an idea on how to restore the .Mac account type option?

Reinstalling Mail is rarely necessary or appropriate to solve a problem. It certainly cannot fix anything that could be wrong with the data stored within your home folder, for example, and may even introduce new issues if not done properly.
In particular, system updates often include updates for applications that are part of Mac OS X, such as Mail. As a result of having reinstalled Mail, you may now have a version of that application older than what corresponds to the version of Mac OS X you’re running. Or it could be that you’ve removed the AccountTypes folder from /Library/Mail/ (not to be confused with ~/Library/Mail/).
Since you did this because of some other (unspecified) problems, verify/repair the startup disk first (not just permissions), as described here:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:

After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk and back up before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

Creating numeric limit step types

Hello,
I'm new in TestStand and I'm trying to create my own step types.
Right now I need a step type that reads the voltage from one channel on my MIO board and reads one Digital IO from my DIO board.
I was able to create one step type - run VI and EDIT VI (to choose the channel), but my problem is that my step type is not a numeric step type (so it is not returning a value) and I don't know how to change it!
1. Are there these kind of step types (DAQ) available anywhere?
2. How do I set the type of my step type (I think the ones I'm creating are allways action step types and not tests)?

Hi,
The easies why to create your NumericLimit type is to select your step type and right mouse click and select create useing then select the NumericLimit type.
This will create a new step type combining your step type with a Numeric Limit step type.
Before you start just rename your step type to someother name by just appending "_1". Then when the new combined step type is created. You can then rename this step type to your original name and easily delete your "_1" named step type.
