Creating a cresent shape illustrator.

I have been assigned the task in creating a logo with a cresent shape moon in a logo.
I did it in photoshop but realised that for scaling it wont work in printing on materials in the future.
I needed a clean cut look.
So right now, I have my logo made in illustrator.
My background is currently white. I didnt realise it usually means transparent in illustrator. im a newbie in this program.
I have 2 circles one is black and one is white. I have black circle on bottom layer and white one on top. I moved the white few cms to the left to leave an arc which is black because of the first circle behind.
however, i want to delete the white circle but then the black shows through. I tried pathfinders mode but nothing worked.
Also, in the end, this will be printed white on a black glassy background so should i just make this white now or will the pdf version of the logo be able to change the color to whiteduring the printing.
any advice.
thanks

this might help. you need both objects selected.

  • Create a funnel shape in Illustrator CS6?

    Hello I am trying to create a funnel shape in Illustrator that is divided up by levels. For example a funnel shape with six different levels. I have uploaded an example, when I have tried to use an image trace to get the basic shape the lines aren't sharp they are often bumpy and not straight. Anyone have tips or a how to create a sharp funnel image? Thanks a lot!
    Miles

    Half of the cross-section. Like this:
    This was all done with filled shapes. If you want the inside to be all the same colour it would probably entail using stroked shapes.

  • How do I use shapes I create in Adobe Shape?

    All the shapes you create with Adobe Shape are stored in a CC Library.  This means you can access them in other desktop, mobile, and web apps.  Detailed instructions below.
    How to access your shapes in Creative Cloud
    Desktop: In order for this to work, you must have the most recent version of Illustrator and Photoshop.
    Open Adobe Illustrator on your desktop.
    Open the Libraries panel (Windows > Libraries)
    Your shapes should be present in your Libraries.  If you don’t see them there, select the libraries drop down to see if you saved your shapes in a different library.
    Now, you can drag the shape onto your canvas.
    At this point,  you can continue working with your shape, by adding editing.  Or, you can simply save the file.  Of course, after you save it to your desktop, you can email, post online, etc.
    Mobile apps:
    Open Adobe Illustrator Draw and open a drawing.
    Tap the Shapes icon to open the Shapes menu.
    Tap a library name to view the shapes in the Creative Cloud Library. Tap Change Library to select another library.
    Select your shape by tapping on it.
    Active Slide or Tocuh Slide. You can use Adobe Slide or Touch Slide to place the shape on the canvas. Access Touch Slide by tapping on the circular icon at the top of the menu bar.
    Place the shape.  Once you have activated Touch Slide, you will see a light rendition of your shape on the canvas.  Simply double tap on the shape outline to stamp the shape in place.
    Web:
    Navigate to https://assets.adobe.com/
    Select the Libraries menu item (left menu on the page)
    Select the desired library (if this is your first time using Libraries, you will only have one).
    This page provide a preview only.

    Shapes created in Adobe Shape can be modified in Illustrator or Photoshop and saved as a separate file. However, your new file will not be updated in Adobe Shape.

  • When creating a rectangle shap, how to manually set dimensions

    I am creating a rectangular shape with the tool (U).
    How can I manually set the dimensions (height and width).
    I know I can see the dimensions with the info button in the right side bar, bug I want to edit those values.
    Is this possible?

    You can set the dimensions before using the rectangle tool in the
    tool options bar (fixed size).
    Or you can change the dimensions after, by using the move tool or Edit<Free Transform Path
    and entering the dimensions in pixels (px) in the width and height boxes.

  • How to get rid of the properties tab popping out when I create a new shape?

    Hi! I am having a bit of trouble getting rid of the properties tab that pops out everytime I create a new shape in Photoshop CC.
    Are there some settings to stop this from happening? I have my space strictly organized, as most of you probably, and I need to close it each time I create new shape... so it's frustrating.
    Thank you!

    After you draw out a shape, then go to the Properties panel fly-out menu and uncheck Show on Shape Creation

    Is it possible to create box plots in illustrator? If yes, then how?

    You draw them manually. There is no built-in functionality. AI simply sucks for any kind of diagrams.

  • How do I create a barcode in illustrator

    Hi,
    How would I go about creating a Barcode in Illustrator?
    I used to work in Corel Draw where it had the option of creating a Barcode, now I am uncertain how to do it in Illustrator.
    Thank you for your help!

    Sandra,
    I am afraid Illy is the wrong one to ask to create hyperlinks.
    How about saving as a PDF and create the hyperlink there?

  • Creating spot color in Illustrator CS4 js

    Hi,
    I need to create spot color in Illustrator CS4 with js, with assigned name and color values. Here what I have:
    myColor = myDoc.spots.add({name:"FOIL", colorValue:[10, 0, 100, 0]});
    But it comes out as process instead of spot and the color is not assigned.
    Thank you for your help.
    Yulia

    the add function has no parameters, you have to add them after
    addSpot ('FOIL', 10, 0, 100, 0);
    function addSpot(name, c, m, y, k) {
        try {
            swatch = app.activeDocument.swatches[name]; // if swatch exists....
            addSpot (name+='1', c, m, y, k); // ...add 1 to swatch name
        catch (e) {
            var newSpot = app.activeDocument.spots.add();
            newSpot.name = name;
            var newColor = new CMYKColor();
            newColor.cyan = c;
            newColor.magenta = m;
            newColor.yellow = y;
            newColor.black = k;
            newSpot.colorType = ColorModel.SPOT;
            newSpot.color = newColor;
            var newSpotColor = new SpotColor();
            newSpotColor.spot = newSpot;

  • Can I create a site in Illustrator and then import it into Muse?

    Can I create a site in Illustrator and then import it into Muse? If not, why not?

    No, you can't and it kinda defeats the purpose of Muse altogether. Thats like saying, "Can I use Muse to create vector graphics for designing logos?" Or, even simpler " Can I use this hammer to unscrew this picture hook in my wall?"
    Muse would import that AI file as an image only. So, you would have one big picture and no functionality to any buttons, menus etc.
    I would suggest that you try downloading the trial version of Muse. If you could/would design a site in AI ( despite it being an unsuitable tool ) you will find Muse just as easy to use. If you are proficiant in Illustrator or InDesign, Muse's interface is very familiar and uses similar techniques.

  • Creating Reader Spread in Illustrator

    Hello all friend
    i have a quick question to Understand the "Reader-spread", My Client asked to create 12 page Calender for 2015, and they specifically ask me to create a file in illustrator as Reader Spread, i never did that, so i need your Expert help to understand about Reader-spread and Printer Spread,
    please and thanks if i can get the example.

    As Larry said, a reader spread is just two pages as it would be visible in the final produced booklet (a printer spread is how the printer needs to print to have the pagination be correct after assembly of the book). I'm not sure exactly what they're looking for, but I'd interpret it by creating one artboard to contain both left & right pages, setting up guides for margins, center of spread, etc. Then duplicate this artboard for the rest.
    But if all they want in the end is a PDF or EPS file, I'd be tempted to just do it in InDesign and export as such.

  • Why do I get an error when creating a custom shape

    I have a student version of Photoshop CC  and it seemed to be working just fine until I had to create a custom shape. When I try and create a custom shape I receive the following error.
    Did something go wrong during installation or am I missing an addon??

    Before you draw the shape with the Pen Tool set to Paths, ensure that you have the Path Operations set to either Combine or Exclude
    Looks like yours is set to Subtract, which will produce a program error when trying to define a custom shape.

  • ----- Is it possible to create this mask shape effect in FCP X?

    I've been playing around with some masks in FCP X, but I cannot figure out how to create this effect..is it possible?
    I am interested in creating a mask shape where I can use it to identify something on the screen inside the shape with the surrounding area darker.
    In FCP 6/7, I used to just add a slug on top of the clip, add a mask shape, tweak it, invert it and lower the opacity.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you.

    in FCPX no masks nor additional tracks needed:
    select the clip
    in the Info board, select the Color Correction
    there's a built-in Mask tool - select that
    switch on the Color Board, here comes the trick: …
    you are allowed to select WHERE the correction is applied: inside or outside the mask
    (in my German interface Innen/Außen)
    drag down the general exposure
    there are handles to define size, shape, position
    you can drag the outer circle (no handles) to define blurr gradient
    you can even animate that highlight by key-framing it ....
    with the same tool, you can e.g. apply super-fast some simple 'grading' such a 'CSI Miami-style Blue Sky':

  • Creating a Gradient Shape

    Some time back I asked how to create a gradient shape in FCPx.  I appreciated the answers, but none of them were clear to me, and I have not yet been able to pull it off.  Wondering if anyone is interested in making a short tutorial showing how to do this?  I am simply after a rectangle that has a linear or radial shape using color point values on the gradient as required, preferably values that can be eye-dropped from elsewhere on the screen.
    Thanks!
    Geoff

    Probably the most general way to do this would be to create a generator in Motion, but...
    Here is a way you can do that, using only content already available in FCP X.
    In this, I will use the "Shape" and "Gradient" generators.
    1) Place the Gradient in the timeline and adjust as desired.
    2) Place the Shape generator ABOVE the gradient. Set the fill to white and turn off the Outline in the generator part of the inspector.
    3) Click the video tab of the inspector and under Compositing set the Blend Mode to "Stencil Luma"
    4) By now you will have the shape filled with the gradient and the rest of the frame black.
    5) Select the shape and the gradient and hit option-G to turn this into a compound clip. This will confine the blend mode set above so that it does not affect any clips that lie below the shape and gradient, maling them visible behind the shape.
