Creating a div just for mobile/tablet displays

I have a video set to autoplay on a site....it is an advertising video with no sound, so it's not intrusive.  I added controls for mobile and tablet users, however I am finding that it is not ideal.  So instead I would like to create a div that only mobile/tablet users see which contain all the same info in a small jpg instead.  I thought that by simply creating a div called "fluid col3mobile" and then changing my css so that mobile and tablets only had that div defined it would ignore the div called "fluid col3" and point to the graphic instead of the video.  However, I am finding that that is not working the way I imagined.  What is a better way to accomplish my goal?

do you know if there is a way to make the account private on youtube?
You can't have it both ways.  Either you post to YouTube and share your content with the world or you don't.  If you want exclusive control over your videos, you need to find better web hosting. There's no excuse for tolerating sub-standard hosting with so many companies to choose from.

It is possible to use multiple iPads in my own enterprise and to create an app just for my restaurant not in appstore???

    Yes that's completely feasable.
Actually there is another way to install apps ad-hock that i was not aware of (this does not require the devices to be attatched to the Mac with the SDK and project, it can use any computer or distribute via your LAN:
    iOS Developer Programme:Ad Hoc Distribution
With Ad Hoc distribution you can share your application with up to 100 other iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch users. Through email or by posting it to a website or server, users can download and install your app.

Just wondering if I should do anything different, to create a version for use on mobile devices, such as phones.
As it is now, my site works (except for the one piece of flash), but it isn't a "true" mobile version. Is there anything I should or can do?

Like Weebly, Google Sites is a free web-based website builder accessible from any internet connected computer.

You would have to switch from iWeb to Google Sites, i.e. rebuild your website in Google Sites. A non web-based app that's "mobile friendly" is Freeway:

  • Can we create a SAP report for all messages displayed inRWB

    Hi All,
We are planning to create an SAP report (in XI or R/3) which will display the status of all the messages in the XI adapter engine. I wish to know if this is possible and if yes, then can someone throw some light on it.
    <b>Scenario:</b><u></u>
Inbound XML messages are coming to XI from legacy system and finally are sent to R/3 from XI.
In R/3 and XI we have SXMB_MONI or SXI_MONITOR to see the overall status of the message pipeline.  However if there are some adapter issues, the messages are stuck in the adapter and never get shown on SXI_MONITOR. Only way to see these messages is through RWB.
So can we create a report in R/3 or XI which displays such messages stuck in RWB  .
    Appreciate your response on same.
    Thanks and regards
    RK

alerts can be triggered for RWB errors also. So when it is triggered there will be an entry in tables related to alert. from there u can read and make use of it in a table. there are workaorunds which we need to explore. to read the text from sxmb_m,oni there are f/n mod aviable...not able to get one but can be found in debuggin

  • Created a Document : Waiting for moderation - Status display will be a good addition

    Hi SCN Support Community,
i had created a document a week ago, Since this is my first attempt to give back to the community , I am very impatient about when this will be published ( as its under moderation). I understand from the FAQs of Pre-moderation section that we have volunteers to moderate content and it takes roughly 3 days. I also understand that there is no way to check the status of my document till i get the relevant notification. However i feel it will be really helpful if we have in the portal where we can atleast see the status ..doesnt matter if it says "Under- Moderation" (there might be a reason why scn has opted away from this , if there isnt any, why not .
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Can the DPS software create windows 8 apps for Dell tablets?

I have been challenged with creating windows 8 apps and collateral to run on Dell devices. Does anyone know if this is possible using the Adobe DPS software?

Yes, but you’ll need a pro or enterprise account and the devices will have to be Windows 8.1.
If you go to the Windows store on the device you’ll be able to download the Adobe Content Viewer.
Not every feature works yet so keep an eye on things. Check out Adobe Inspire magazine on Windows 8.1 for an idea of what’s possible.

  • How to create an online fillable form for mobile devices, tablets and smartphones.

How can I create "online fillable forms" for Mobile devices, tablets and smarphones?
I already created an "online fillable form" with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for PCs and MACs but this form can not be filled using mobile devices, it can only be downloaded.
    Thanks.

    Hi George,
I gather from your reply that I won't be able to create "online fillable forms" for Mobile devices with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. Correct?
If Adobe does not have another software similar to Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, would you please suggest me any other means of creating "online fillable forms" for Mobile devices?
Would you think that an HTML developed form would be a fair substitute for the PDF fillable forms that I use for PCs and MACs?
    Thanks,

  • Dreamweaver CC fluid grid, can I change the position of DIV's based on Mobile, Tablet, Desktop view?

    Hi all,
Currently working on my first Dreamweaver CC fluid grid / responsive site. I want to optimise the pages layout for Mobile, Tablet and Desktop.
I can see that I can hide individual div elements by adding "display: none;" to the mobile media query code in the CSS.
I am wondering am I able to change the position of DIV's in relation to the order of each other some how using a similar way?
Eg I have a webpage design for desktop like.
    Title
    Nav
    Description
    Buy Button
    Photo
On mobile I'd like to be able to bring that Photo up towards the top of the layout eg.
    Title
    Nav
    Photo
    Description
    Buy Button
I was hoping those up and down arrows you see in the Dreamweaver CC interface was going to some how make the changes to each view Mobile, Tablet, Desktop, but all that is doing is moving the position of code in the HTML amoung each of the main DIV sections.
Or am I at the point where I will need to create a seperate page for mobile only to make a layout change like this?
    Any help would be great

    Hi Complexity,
I have got some further info, and if I have lead you astray I am sorry.
I don't think you can change the order of the divs in a responsive layout in DW CC.
However, you can arrange the divs to sit under or beside each other differently in each of the layouts, for pc, tablet or phone.
You can also switch divs off and on in each of the layouts, having them display in one size screen and not in another.
So what you would need to do is to create a couple of nav divs, if you want a nav at the top of one type of screen and one at the bottom. You could duplicate the content in both of them and switch one on in one layout and one off in the other.
    I hope this helps!
I am doing my first layout for a client using DW CC responsive layouts. I have done two test/hobby sites already.
It is a bit of a mission learning it but I am getting there.
I do find it interesting that most people recommend using other programs to do responsive rather than Dreamweaver's fluid grid layouts. I don't think many people are using it yet.

    Mary

  • Site examples of using css to design for smartphone, tablet, projection

    Hi,
Can anyone recommend a site that uses css to design for different platform using css. Not a standalone mobile site, but one where the existing site uses jquery to show the sites differntly.
I saw a video of it using cs5.5 and it seems to be the way forward, but would love to see how others designed/structured their sites to use this technology.
    Cheers
    Dave

    Hi
The best place to view demo's regarding the jQuery mobile framework is the official site at - http://jquerymobile.com/. But remember designing and building a site specifically for mobiles, (tablet/mobile/cell devices) is no longer a completely different process to a normal site and all smart-phones can now display a normal desktop web site as good as a desktop pc, (and when it comes to html5/css3 even better).
The use of redirects for mobile devices is now an old outdated recommendation, and is the equivalent of saying to any tablet/smart-phone user, "Use IE7 or go-away", so unless you are mainly targeting pre-2008 devices do not bother, (Google and similar do this because they are covering 'all' devices and present a very simple page design which convert to mobiles without much difficulty). It is now a more widely accepted method to use media-queries to display a link to a mobile specific site, that is hidden on larger displays.
Do not get hung-up as some do on this site with the iPhone, it is only one of the devices that must be targeted, and is not even the most popular having a smaller market share than Android powered devices, (I personally use the iTouch, (which has the same web capabilities as the iPhone) and the Samsung Galaxy S2 for my personal testing, then SDK's and 3rd party testing services for other devices) a popular blog with many links that is specific to mobile development is - http://www.visionmobile.com/blog/.
With regards to testing on mobiles, you do not require a iPhone specifically, and if you are on the mac you can download the SDK for accurate testing, (but then what does one do for all the other devices?) and the true mark of a professional, (which I do not claim to be, my clients may, but I do not, and anyone saying they are whilst 'insulting' others must be viewed with suspicion, as inter-personal skills are also part of any designers/developers necessary skills) is knowing that you must test on all popular OS's and devices, (similar to browsers, and just testing on the iPhone is like just testing your site in IE8 and ignoring everything else) so for setting up a local testing suite see - http://www.mikebrittain.com/blog/2010/01/31/browser-testing-for-mobile-web-applications/, and/or you can also use a 3rd party service such as - http://www.deviceanywhere.com/.
For a number of tutorials on using CS5/5.5 for developing mobile site see, - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/mobile-web.html.

  • Combobox or Dropdown list not working in AIR 2.7 for Mobile Applications

    Hey,
I want to use combobox or a dropdown list in my app for Mobile. It is coming properly on the screen.but when I try to select the thing from the list it doesnt gets clicked and the new value is not getting displayed on the dropdown.
Previously I was using older version of AIR.but now am using AIR 2.7.
So is AIR 2.7 creating a problem???
    Thanks in advance.
    Ronak Shah

ComboBox and DropDownList don't work on mobile devices.  It has to do with the differences between touch interfaces and mouse interfaces.  You'd have to extend / modify the components a bit and I would recommend creating custom skins optimized for mobile devices.
Or you can just use the ones I already optimized:  https://www.flextras.com/index.cfm?event=ProductHome&productID=21

  • SUGGESTION TO ADOBE: PLEASE CREATE A PROPER FORUM FOR SUBSCRIPTION AND BILLING ISSUES

I think and many will agree, that it is about time that Adobe would create a forum just for subscription or billing issues.
There are so many people looking for help that taking this issues to a specific forum, would help in reducing the signal to noise ratio and keep a focus on specific topics. Yes, Adobe should fix these issues and I am sure they are being address but creating proper channels would speed up support, from Adobe staff and from people that, for crazy reasons, volunteer here.
I try to help, but sometimes just the Creative CLoud forum is like a raging river of people looking for help and if it was divided in some topics, it would be a great help. So:
    - Create a Creative Cloud membership and Billing issues: It is about time
    - How-to and technical issues are still well served by the topics.

    Hi Luis,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
I completely apprehend your point of view, the billing issues deal with credit card information which are highly secured information, there is only one authorized group taking care of billing issues.
Regarding Invoice issues, please feel free to raise it here, we do try to resolve them at the earliest.

  • Creating a site for mobile devices

    Good morning,
I have a number of questions relating to the creation of a
site for mobile devices. My client has given me the assignment to
re-design his current website, and to also create a sub-site
suitable for mobiles. I have spent a number of hours looking around
on the Internet and trying to gain a better understanding of these
issues. Still, a number of questions remain. if you can give me any
additional understanding, that would be great.
    Question 1:
Is my understanding correct: I basically need to create two
sites, one for the wide-screen browser, and one for the mobile
browser? I can direct visitors to the mobile site using a CSS or
javascript link - if their browser identifies them as a mobile
    browser?
    Question 2
Mobile devices come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and
versions. PDA\s and iPhone's have different screensizes and
resolutions that smart--phones, which in turn are different again
from older and simpler phones. Should I design a site for a number
of different types of phones? That would a huge amount of work...
    Question 3
I also own Device Central, an App which I should think is
very useful in this situation. But I fail to understand it! OK, so
I can see what my photo or website or flash file looks like on my
Nokia N73 - but I am not designing specifically for that phone. I
also want my design to look good on all the other phones! My client
needs a website that is not tailored to one phone, but to all
    phones.
    Question 4
And why does Device Central not have profiles for the iPhone?
I would think it is popular enough to warrant its own profile... (I
post this from the Netherlands, where the iPhone is not carried
yet, and so I have only ever held one in my hand). Is this because
the iphone can see regular sites just fine?
    Question 5
How does Dreamweaver help me build a mobile site?
    Question 6
My client wants to show video on his website. In fact, that's
what this website is all about: showing sports-videos from high
profile sporting events. Which video-formats are most suitable?
    Question 7
Do all mobile phones support flash? Or only a few? Or none?
It seems to me that a flash website would allow for more creativity
    in the design.
Thanks for any help you can give. Any resources you could
point me to are also very welcome...
    Sincerely,
    Rogier Bos
