Creating a document that is 468x60...HELP!

Hi there I wan to create a document size of 468 x 60 as I want to create a flash banner advert. When i'm typing in the custom size, it it dosn't let me create this size! Does anyone know how to bypass this?

When you embed content in a webpage, like images or movies or flash files, you can explicitly define what size it appears. What you need to do is export a movie that is some even MULTIPLE of 468x60, then, when you embed it, set it to display in a area that's 468x60.
Do a google search for embed and flash and that should give you more information.
UPDATE: I did the search for you and found this at the second link.
embed src="somefilename.swf" width="550" height="400"
For this line on your webpage, you will change width to 468 and height to 60.

When I tried to open the document the next day, a dialogue box told me I needed a newer version to open the file. The information provided stated the new app would cost $19.99 and the customer ratings are quite low. Why can't I open a previously created document in iWorks, regardless of the version. This is the first time Apple has demanded that I pay for a new version to open existing documents.

I am with Peter on this issue. Additionally, if you installed the latest IOS Pages (v2.01) on an iPhone or iPad and opened a .pages file on iCloud that was created by Pages ’09 v4.n, or IOS Pages v1.7.n — that document is now in the new .pages file format and only Pages v5 on OS X can open it.

Is it possible to create a document that imports various template pages?

I have about 7 different indesign documents (job descriptions for various company positions), each with around 15 pages. They each use some of the same exact same pages as each other, but have pages unique to them between the identical pages. So although they have exact same pages, in one doc it might appear on page 7, and in another doc it might be on page 9.
I would ultimately like to have the identical pages each be a 1 page template that i can update, place the template pages in their appropriate places in all my documents and have all 5 documents register when the template updates.
I'm hung up, though, because it seems like you can only create templates on a document level and not a "page" level. I tried placing one of the 1 page templates in one of my documents, making a change to the template and seeing if my document would alert me that the template has been updated. no such luck.
any help with this issue would be appreciated. this would save me a lot of time updating identical pages in all these documents. Thanks!

Instead of templates, think in terms of Placing one file inside another.
With CS3, you can Place an Indesign file inside of another Indesign
file. That way you can make a single-page document, save it, and then
Place it on page 7 of Document 1 and page 5 of Document 2. When you go
back and edit the source document, it will change in Document 1 and 2.
If you're on CS2 or earlier, you can do the same thing, only slightly
less conveniently, with PDFs.

Trying to create a document that's an email invite with an embedded link

Well the subject just about says it all... But here goes, I need to create an invitation to a new website. This invite will, I'm sure be forwarded manytimes over. That's why I'm trying to embed the url into the image and everytime I drag the doc into applemail it just comes up as a document icon and won't let me control click view as (it's greyed out) Any direction on this one.

I think it's more a problem with Mail but with Pages.
Pages documents are so-called packages, i.e. folders that contain several files necessary for Pages. That's why you see the icon: Mail tries to send the document as an attachment (and will even zip the document).
Mail by default doesn't allow you to create HTML-mails. You can find a description how to create a newsletter with Pages in this posting: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2538151#2558882. Just adopt the steps to your needs.
Another alternative would be to install the Mailpictures bundle for Mail. The advanced preferences option "Show options in compose window" will allow you to use raw HTML in your message.

Creating form document that stores certain fields in a local database

Hey guys, here is what I am trying to do :
We have these credit form that we use at my company that are used to request bank and trades references
What I would like to do is create name/adress/fax number in a standard form, that actually keeps the data somewhere and creates us a trade/bank database
so let's say some other client has the same trade reference, our user can just type in the name of the trade (lets say TRIBAL) and the info comes up automatically (adress/fax)
I know I might not be really clear in my explanations but i'm trying

You mean the marketers list has to be preloaded when the page loads itself the very first time. For this to work, you need to make a jdbc call before the page loads and set the marketers list in the request or session.
For eg in your jsp where you want to display the marketers name dropdown, you can add,

Creating a document & making it accessable on the web using a link.

There is an issue I want to address to the forum. I don't want to clutter up my posted topic with an entire page of information that is rellevent to my topic. How can I create a document that other Apple Discussion members can view it using a link? Where can I "put" it so that it's accessible?

Most any ISP you have will give you storage space, then it's easiest to ftp it to your storage, then post the URL like this...

I use TransmitX, but other free ftp APPs exist like Cyberduck. If you vist your ISP's site it should tell you jow to do it... if not post back with your ISP and I'll help further!

Showing Broken Font while creating new document

Hi.
While our user is creating the new document, BO is showing the broken Font like ㅁㅁㅁ.
This is not for all users, but for some users.
We've tried to re-install the JAVA, but it is still the same.
Is there anyone who know how to fix this?

Windows 7, unfortunately, does not creat crash reports that are very helpful, so we pretty much need try guessing games to find the cause.

Can't create Word Document report - need help

Hi,
I have been trying to create a report using a word document. I downloaded an example from ni.com that has Export_Info.vi. When I try to run it I get this error:
Error 1003 occurred at Open VI Reference in New Report.vi->Export_Info.vi
I traced the error back to New Report.vi which is a VI that comes with the LabView package. There is a Open VI reference that when it tries to open Word_Open.vi gives an error. So for some reason I can not open Word_Open.vi without an error, and it comes with the Report generation office library.
Does anyone know what could the problem be?
I tried reinstalling everything and i still keep getting the same error. This makes it impossible to create a report now.
Any help would be VERY appreciated.

Yes I have it installed. When I went to open up Word_Open.vi it opened with an error and it said that the property was not valid.

Pages doesn't save to Word it Exports to Word .doc so there should be a .pages copy on your Mac.

Proof Colors doesn't change the file's color management, it just lets you see what the color values would look like if they are printed unchanged on different output devices. If you want to actually convert the color from one CMYK space to another, it's probably better to do that in Acrobat—Tools>Print Production>Convert Colors.
There's very little difference between Fogra27 and Fogra39—Fogra27 allows more total ink 350 vs. 330.

It sounds like you may want to create a form field in your PDF file, which your sales personnel can paste text into. You can use either Acrobat or Adobe FormsCentral to create PDF forms. For instructions, see FormsCentral Help | Create a form or Acrobat Help | Forms.

Hi Marc,
it is currently not possible to check for values in other tables within different repositories (main tables).
If you want to check for values in flat lookup tables, use the "Fields" menu in the expression editor. You will get sth like this:
IS_NULL(Category.Item)
whereas "Category" could be a lookup table (flat, hierarchy, taxonomy) and "Item" a field in it.
Checking across qualified lookup tables is only possible in a very restricted manner.

HELP! Random errors creating SAP documents via Add-On.

We have a very odd situation. Our add-on has been running for 4 years. During this time, we've made several enhancements. In the last couple of weeks, users are getting random errors during the code that posts SAP documents. The error doesn't occur creating the same documents everytime but the error message is always the same. I cannot get the add-on to crash in the development environment. Furthermore, once a crash occurs, the users can immediately try again and the document will then be created successfully so it's baffling. We thought we'd tracked it down to the fact that when restarting a users Windows session, we were retaining the user profile files that SAP creates to store the SQL Server settings. We found that the problem went away once we started deleting these files upon logout, but, the problem just got less frequent, it didn't completely go away. Here is the error information:
Error: The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))
Source: Interop.SAPbobsCOM
Stack Trace: at SAPbobsCOM.FieldClass.set_Value(Object pVal)
I should say we've also uninstalled and reinstalled the DI API but that didn't help either. We are running SAP 2007A SP01 P05 with users logging into Windows Server 2003 via Citrix. Also note, this error is only occuring with documents being created through the add-on, no crashes occur creating documents direclty through SAP front end.

I have the exatly the same situation at Customer, only in 2007A version.
The Addon has been developed for 6.5 and was running perfect in last 4 years. After upgrade, the users got the random messages. and the user try it again can sucessfully post the documents. Only at this company.
There is no citrix, and virtual server, onyl W2003 (32bit:) behind a firewall. (MS SQL 2005 SP2)
In my sample, and your error message is the common: YOu got the message when you are using User Defined Field in marketing documents.
I have found a note about change "coding" of update of User Defined Fields, it was not helped.

Instead of the above syntax, you should use the following:

In Small DB-s i was unbale to reproduce this issue, but in that specific customer (>40GB) i always trouble with this.
My experience,
- that i have created some custom indexes over marketing documents, and the error message was not appears in frequently.
- changed 32 SQL Server Memory Allocation to EWA, the error message was not appears in frequently.
I think this is an SQL server issue.
I am intrested in the solution, SAP Support Center was unable to find any solution for this issue.

Creating Long Document: Seeking help getting started

I am a newbie trying to create a book. I was wondering if someone could confirm my first steps so I can get off on the right foot. After quite a bit of reading, watching and trying, here's what I understand I need to do:
-create a new document
-import my text
-create styles for my paragraphs and headings
-save as a template
-create more documents with that template
-put all the documents into a book file
-etc.
Just to get me rolling, am I missing any crucial steps or elements here, or do I have the basic flow correct?

Yeh pretty much it.
One thing - I'd firstly import my text to a blank document in InDesign and then use File>Export and choose RTF, then I'd place that RTF file in the layout document.
