Creating a fancy DMG in Mavericks OSX (publishing from Flash - AIR) Images failing to change

Hello, I was hoping that someone may be able to help?
I have found numerous tutorials and step by steps guides for making/designing a DMG's but they seem to be failing for me in later stages of applying fancy artwork.
I have worked out how to make a new disk image
the content inside works and the icons work once the air/mac installer has worked it's magic - ie has installed the application on the desktop
I cannot change the icon and image when I bring the file information up on my screen/ I can't make it fancy - I'm needing to make the complete package with all of the artwork.
Basically when I attempt to drop the PNG into the icon in top left, the file is replaced with the default png image instead of the png I dropped onto the position.
Any ideas?
Please note, if you have any tips on this so I can make a bespoke DMG with imagery, icons and all of the rest of it for a professional look please help.

That's easy.
2 methods:
1. Change the Startup Disk in System Preferences, then restart:

The 1st mehtod is the quickest, because you don't have the additional step of choosing the drive. Plus, whatever you have selected in System Preferences becomes the default startup drive.

Just realised CC by default dont have such player as option to publish for... Problem is, that a lot of big ads publishers like google adwords doesnt allow swfs in player higher than 10.1... So basically i have a huge problem... Why Adobe has to be so ignorant towards the needs of their customers? "If you dont upgrade flash, you wont be able to open higher versions of .fla files", if you do upgrade, you wont be able to publish in lower players version"... You make my proffesional part of life miserable, you know that? :/ I bet most of flash usage is for ads, so why not checking what publishers demand and maybe consider not removing it from your software?
That just ruined my schedule and deadlines are collapsing on me. Thank you very much.

If you open the swf file in text editor:
The first 8 bytes of any SWF file are not compressed, the rest of the file could be compressed (or not) by zlib compression.
1st byte: 'F' (not compressed) OR 'C' (compressed).
2nd byte: 'W' always.
3rd byte: 'S' always.
4th byte: version number (09 means this file is targeted at Flash Player 9 and so on...)
5th to 8th: Length of entire file in bytes

Rejected amazon appstore due to air url - published from flash pro with amazon selected

We were just rejected from the amazon appstore due to the AIR url:
The link to Adobe AIR in your app needs to be updated so that customers are taken directly to the Adobe AIR app page on the Amazon Appstore. -- The Download URL is http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.adobe.air
We published via Flash Pro CS5.5 with Amazon selected, and when you install that APK on the device without AIR installed you get prompted to get AIR. The 'Install' button gives you the intent menu for Web or Amazon, clicking amazon just takes you to the amazon appstore home page rather than directly to the AIR page.. How do we fix this?

Could you please check the URL for AIR in: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5.5\en_US\Configuration\Android\Markets.xml" and confirm that it is set to the following:

The Mavericks on the Air is probably machine specific since it came pre-installed, so it wouldn't work on your computer. See if your friend will let you access the App Store, where you can sign in using your Apple ID and download the installer. You can use this free program to copy the installer and update your computer.

Swf published from Flash Catalyst not playing in Flash Player

Hi All,
I have 2 issues which I'm not sure may be related or not.
- I've created a project in FC but when I publish it to .swf it does not open in Flash Player. It plays in Chrome but Flash Player 10 gives a blank screen.
- I have FC 5.5 and I want to make the project scale according to the browser size. How can I do this? I have checked the Resize option but when it open in Chrome it just cuts out all that is outside the browser screen area.

I can not recall the minimum Flash Player that is required for Flash Catalyst. I suspect that your version of Flash Player is too low. Chrome auto-updates to the latest version, so that is why it works in Chrome.

How to create an action that will crop two sections from one scanned image?

I'm trying to create an action that will automate the process of cropping the left and right pages from a series of two-page book scans.
I tried to create a 2 step action which first crops the left half of a scan (by setting the left margin to 0in and the right margin to 6in) and then the right half of the scan (by setting the left margin to 6in and the right margin to. 12in), however when executing, only the left half appears to be cropped.
I imagine this is due to the fact that once one side of the initial scan is cropped, the other side disappears.
Is there any way around this?

Help! When I publish from flash my swf gets cut at the bottom

I'm pretty new at Flash and I have been trying to solve this for the last coupleof days to no success. When I publish to html in flash my movie gets cut at the bottom which it really can't.
Is there anyway to resolve this?

The reason that I wanted to see the two screenshots was so that I could see the difference. I wanted to see what part was being cut off. In any case when I look at http://www.actualinteriors.com/full_uk.html and http://www.actualinteriors.com/full_uk.swf, I see the same thing. I don't see any part of the Flash movie being cut off in the published html page.
What browser are you using that you see the movie cut off?

Changing Admin user that was created at time of install of OSX to Standard

I have a Mac with an admin account the one that was created at the time of installing OSX 10.4 and I am trying to change that user to a standard user. I have made another admin and have also another standard user. I evry time I tray to change the admin user and turn off admin rights the box is grayed out.
What is up with the first user that is created at the time of installing the OS? Is that a user that cannot be changed? How can I change its privileges to standard user?

I have tested this on a few different Macs. I have found some that I can get the admin right away form the fist Admin the one created at the time of installing the OS. Others I am still puzzled to way I cannot change the fist account to a Standard. In all cases I have 3 accounts 2 admins and one standard. The times that I could change the account I was logged in the standard account.
Is there a work around to get an admin account to have the same permeations as a standard account when the admin box in users is grayed out?

Mavericks has a different way to create a USB thumb drive installer where the Install OS X Mavericks.app file is used instead of just the InstallESD.dmg file. So, if you have the full installer file (Install OS X Mavericks.app) around, hang onto it. You can use DiskMaker X 3.0.3 to create the Mavericks USB thumb drive

Cannot open eps files on maverick oSX with CS6

I cannot open eps files on maverick oSX with CS6. AI and FW just hang and need to force quit to continue.
I have tried using FW but no success. I can open old files but no new ones (existing on my computer) since upgrading to Maverick on a Macbook air.
The files will open in Photoshop (as raster) and are able to be placed in ID.
No Plugins in AI or FW.
Latest Java update.

If you can't open them, but place them, then the files might have been created with a newer version (like CC) or they might just be (partly) corrupt.
You can try and create a new Illustrator file and place the EPS in it (embedded).

Salve, sono titolare di un abbonamento CC da quasi un anno e mi trovo veramente benissimo! Ieri sera finalmente ho deciso di aggiornare a Mavericks il mio OSX del MacBookPro e, prima di effettuare l'installazione dell'aggiornamento, ho pensato di approfittare dell'occasione per fare un po' di pulizia nel HD… ma ho evidentemente e soprattutto inavvertitamente cancellato PhotoshopCC e quando si è avviato il nuovo S.O. ed ho lanciato l'applicazione Creative Cloud mi ha chiesto di aggiornare i due software che avevo installato precedentemente… cioè Lightroom e Photoshop… solo che ha scaricato l'aggiornamento ma non trovo più il programma… non so cosa fare, non posso neanche disinstallarlo ed installarlo di nuovo perché il Photoshop proprio non c'è più.
Come posso fare per risolvere questo problema?

Creative Cloud and Mavericks OSX

I recently purchased 2 new iMacs with Mavericks OSX. InDesign is super slow, it takes forever to complete the most simple tasks. Photoshop is slow too. SO PAINFUL!! It takes way too long to create or edit projects. Both computers are custom ... built with Mavericks, so unfortunately downgrading the OS is not an option for me. Is there anything I can do to get things back to normal and running smoothly? Please help!!!

InDesign "appears" to be working better since installing the 9.2 update. However, the update has created a new problem – I can no longer print to my printer. Initially it appeared to be a problem with certain fonts or a linked image. I tried printing a document that I printed just prior to the update and printed it with success. I then created a new document, retypeset the information using the same typeface and the document printed with success (copy and pasting same text into a new document did not work). After about an hour or so, I was no longer able to print anything at all!! I cannot print emails, the document I printed just before and right after the 9.2 update. I tried updating the OS from 10.9 to 10.9.1 in hopes it would resolve this new print issue caused by the Adobe CC 9.2 update but I am still unable to print.
Note to self ... DO NOT UPGRADE during your busiest time at work! I thought updrading during a 2 week window of holiday downtime would be enough time to sort out most or all the kinks. However, in all my years of graphic design, I've never upgraded computers, operating systems and new software ALL at the same time. Talk about SENSORY OVERLOAD!!! I have 2 weeks left of my busy season and I'm trying to keep a positve outlook, but fast becoming anxiety-ridden with all of these obstacles and three time-sensitive deadlines due in exactly nine business days.
I am not a computer expert, so I have a great appreciation for the wonderful and informative posts made by those who particpate in Adobe's and also Mac forums. Has anyone run into printing issues since installing the Adobe CC 9.2 Update?
Another important detail / hence not an expert ... I am not exactly sure how my printer has been working with my new Mavericks OSX iMac. Xerox has not released a driver update for the Phaser 6180 yet, but somehow it has been working just fine over the past 3 weeks.
