Creating a flashing background

Hi,
I'm trying to work on a music video and I'd like the background to 'throb' in time with the music.
Basically, I just need it to alternate between a white and a black background in time with a few bars of the music. The 'Dip To White' effect is just what I need except, of course, that it only 'dips' -once-. I need something that will repeat.
My current noob solution was to create a transparent clip and populate it with 'Dip To White' over and over and over and over. It works, but it's tedious in the extreme.
Ideas? Is this a job for AE? If so, can someone give me a hint where to go -there-? (Me heap big scared of AE!)
THANKS!
---JC

Hunt,
Several people, on different fora, have looked for plug-ins, or processing programs, that will basically "read" the music, and then adjust things automatically to do similar to what you want, up to moving Lighting Effects. To date, I have never heard of such a progarm, or plug-in. To my knowledge, it's by hand with Keyframes.
After Effects has a bulit in effect that does "sound level to keyframes". The keyframes can be used several ways, like "linked" to any effect and make that "go with the sound. Way too much to go into now, but it is possible to "read" the music (level always, but could be frequency "sensitive" with sound-preparing and duplicate layers) with no additional plugin in After Effects.
There are also two plugins from Trapcode (sold by Red Giant Software, www.redgiantsoftware.com) that will interact with sound.
The very best one that can both read levels and generate keyframes from selectable frequency ranges has the name " Sound Keys". Quite an helpful tool it is!
The other called "Form" can also interact with sound, but will do that "to its own benefit" (meaning interact with its own effects).
Yes, it takes some time to get into After Effects and plugins, but that time can very well be the "life saver" for you one of these days.
Two silly examples:
(I can't show what I have made for my clients, so... anyway, sometimes I'm doing some silly stuff in order to test out things)
Made with After Effects 6.5, here was the new animators for text and the sound to keyframes to be tested:
http://www.norumprod.com/video/intro.mov
Made with After Effect CS3, turned out to be a silly story "muted firefly", well, mostly to test some stuff in Trapcode Frorm (the aftershake):

Dag
EDIT: Oh, these two examples were made with VERY little "by hand" keyframes.

  • Saving Flash 7 SWF created in Flash 8

I understand from experience that viewing Flash 8 SWF files
on the Flash 7 Player results in text not showing up. The Flash 8
text is obviously superior, but unfortunately, a major contingent
of my viewers are too afraid, too naive, or their systems are too
messed up to upgrade their Flash Players from earlier versions.
Obviously, to solve the problem, I can save the SWF as Flash 7
backward compatible; however, I am more than disappointed with the
results of this solution. The main problems with this approach is
that the text looks week and the bitmap alignment is no longer
perfect when trying to intermingle my flash content with existing
    background content.
Please someone help me with a better solution by providing me
with a list of parameters that need to be in place so that my Flash
7 files created in Flash 8 look more presentable.

    > Peter, as for a list of parameters, I mean precisely
    what options should
    I
    > check off in the Flash 8 export movie dialog box when
    saving Flash 7
    compatible
    > SWF.
There seems to be come confusion here. It's not a matter of
    'checking off'
options, rather of publish settings. In the 'Publish
    Settings' dialogue,
under the 'Flash' tab, 'Version', select 'Flash Player 7'.
    the important
thing is not to use any *features* that depend on Flash
    Player 8 - these
include (but are not limited to!) filters, any of the new
    text rendering
options (custom anti-alias), any of the new Classes (geom,
    filters, display,
    external) etc etc etc.

Again, you are a bit confused I think. Obviously they will be
    different than
if published for FP8 - that wasn't my point. What I said was:
    > > If you are publishing for Flash Player 7, your text
    and bitmaps will
    look
    > > the same as
    > > they would if yo uhad created the content in Flash
    MX2004.
So, using Flash 8 to author but publishing for FP7 will look
    the same as
using Flash MX2004 ('Flash 7') to create your content. You
    are saying your
bitmaps shrink "compared to when exported normally in Flash
    8" - I never
    mentioned publishing for Flash 8.
    > Hmmm, the exported Flash 7 text (generated in Flash 8)

Well yes, of course. You said it yourself - you have exported
    for FP7 -
playing it in FP8 won;t magically make it look better! For
    that, you would
    have to *publish* for FP8.

I have to agree with Ken.  Even if you manage to get Flash into the page background (no small feat) people won't be able to interact with it. That's usability problem #1.
#2 Flash is a dead web technology because the world's most popular mobile & tablet devices cannot see Flash content.  So you're alienating a lot of people before you've even begun.
Depending on what your Flash file contains, you might want to switch to a responsive jQuery image slider like the ones below.
    ResponsiveSlides
    http://responsiveslides.com/
    Cycle 2
    http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle2/
Or, use Adobe Edge Animate instead of Flash. Edge Animate outputs to HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript which are supported by all modern devices except IE8 and earlier.  For tips on making Edge Animations adapt to screen size, see the following link.

  • Best way to put flash background on website?

    Hello,
I am very new to both after effects and flash and need some help with a few things.
I am trying to put a flash background on my website that will loop over and over.
I created the file in after effects but understand that it is best to export to flash to keep file size down.
I have tried exporting from after affects using F4L, FLV, and XFL and always seem to get a file size of 2-4 MB.
My video is only 8 seconds long and I exported at half resolution so I am unsure why it is so large.
How can I reduce the file size?
When I import F4L and FLV to flash and then export as an SWF file, the file does not work on my website(nothing shows). It seems to only work when I import as an XFL and then export as an SWF.
Also, how do I get the video to loop? Do I do this in flash or in the object tags in my website?
If anyone could please help me out that would be much appreciated.
Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

Don`t export to flv from after effects, instead choose png.
You will end up with having your pictures rendered as file001.png....file200.png.
Create a  new fla press ctrl+F8 (on PC) and then import the first of the files (file001.png) to the stage. Flash will ask you if you want to import the rest of the animation as well.
Now from the Library you can drag your new created symbol (with the png loop) on stage. Publish it as swf.

  • Flash Background Issue

    Hi,
I created a flash application that is dynamically displaying xml feeds from content partners. This flash application has a black background and will be called and displayed from the C# windows application. The issue is sometimes when our application loads the flash swf file, the background color turns white so the text being displayed are not readable anymore since they are white. This intermittent and I am using flash cs 5 actionscript 3. Before I was relying on the stage background but after I saw the issue, I already used a solid background container like (vector, png, gif, or jpeg).
Any thoughts why this is happening?
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi, Ned.
Thanks for the reply. I don't think it failing to load the xml file as the content is being displayed but just not been seen since the text and background are of the same color when this happens.

  • Flash background animation

i've been looking for a way to make my flash website include
a background animation whicjh runs independantly, meaning it will
    be uneffected by scene switching.
my main flash movie has been published to run in the center
of the browser, leaving large margins depending on resolution.
what i want to do now is make a background animation which
fills the browser, however the visibility of it 'wont' be effected
by resolution, it instead will be clipped.
to give an example of what im trying to do, please look at
this website and check out how the background is represented:
    www.projectiva.co.uk
the only solution i can think of (but dont kow how its done)
is to create a second flash movie with a fixed but large size
running in the background whilst the main movie uses a transparent
background. im just guessing this is what they did on that site.
    any ideas?
    thank you

    Hi Lee Tempest1,
Q: I have created a Flash animation that I wish to use as a background within iDVD 6.
    A: You don't. It's not recommended in iDVD6.
    This may help:
Preparing QuickTime movies to work with iDVD
If your video-editing application can export to QuickTime, you can create movies that you can add to your iDVD project. iDVD supports most video or image files supported by QuickTime.
QuickTime movies smaller than the standard DVD size of 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL) are scaled to fit the DVD window, which may decrease the image quality.
For best results, in the QuickTime export settings of your video-editing application, choose NTSC-DV with a frame rate of 29.97 or PAL-DV with a frame rate of 25. Choose No Compression for audio and set the sample rate to 48 kHz.
Not all QuickTime formats can be added to your iDVD project. For example, MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files, QuickTime VR movies, and movies with sprite or Flash tracks cannot be added.

  • Real People but Flash background

Hi, I have a question but really don't know if it related to
Actionscript tho, hope you guys can help me anyway. I created an
office background in flash by using the drawing tool in flash, now
I have a video with a real person working in an office, I wanted to
import the video to my flash office but only the person without the
real office background. I'm not sure if you know know what I mean
but if you've seen some crazy flash site b4 you may see real ppl
working in a hand drawn background and such. I really wanted to
know how to import such video.
    thanks

You will need to shoot your video on a Chroma Key back
ground, either solid Green or Blue. Then in a video editor, you
must remove the Green or Blue backgrouind using the Chroma Key
feature of the video editor. What you have left then is the people.
Then in Flash export your office background (that you developed) as
an image. Import this image into your video editor, then import the
video into the video editor and set it as an overlay, you will have
people with your office background behind them. Save the video!
    I hope this helps...

  • How can I create a single background image for a BorderLayout?

I can create a background with an image file for the individual panel (North, West, Center, East and South) in a BorderLayout, but I've been spinning my wheel for a long while now trying to figure out how to create just one background with a single image file for all of these panels?
In my application, a panel may contain various buttons, a listbox, a group of checkboxes, a combo box, or a canvas. Even if I used the same image file, when the panels are finally put together, one can clearly see that the end product is the result of a lot of patch works.
Hope someone has an answer for this. BTW, I'm using AWT because it works with existing browsers without the need for a separate Java plug-in.

  • In Flex 3 how to Stop and Replay .swf animation created in Flash

    Hi
I have an animation file that is created in Flash (I think
CS3). In Flex if I import it inside a SWFLoader or if I import it
as an Image. It plays once and stops. Then I can not replay it. I
also can not pause it when its playing.
I have tried few things based on help and code available in
the Web to of no help. I have tried to convert the swfLoader
instance to a movie clip like so to stop
    var c:MovieClip = swfLoaderHeaddress1.content as MovieClip;
    c.stop();
    <mx:SWFLoader x="53" y="116" width="206" height="255.3"
    visible="true"
    source="assets/animations/curatorial/ZoomHeadress_2nd.swf"
    id="swfLoaderHeaddress1"/>
    It does not work.
I have not created the .swf animation, I am not sure how it
is done. I belive it may not be using any ActionScript as I know
the artist who created it does not know ActionScript. Does
something need to be done inside the Flash to support the stop and
play? Or is there a way to restart/replay stop a .swf animation in
Flex 3 no matter how (and whether or not its developed using
    ActionScript) its developed in Flash?

One way is she has to add some AS code to the animation, or
    you can do it yourself.
In swf there must be something like this:
    var connReciever:LocalConnection = new LocalConnection();
    connReciever.client = this;
    connReciever.connect("fromFlexToSWF");
    function myFunction(parameter:SomeClass):void {...}
    And in Flex:
    var connSender:LocalConnection = new LocalConnection();
    connSender.send("fromFlexToSWF", "myFunction", [..args]);
The other way: in case with just play/stop there is a way to
resolve this by using that Flex Component Kit (or maybe "Flex Skin
Design Extension", i do not remember), it is something like she
just adding labels to animation frames then she exports it with
Flex Kit and then you can work with it like with an object with
    "states".

  • Emailing Invite created in Flash doesn't work

I created a flash invite for a client and cannot get it to deliver correctly through email. I've tried everything that I have found here and it won't show up in some of the emails that I have tested. (mine is the only one that works). I then tried exporting the flash to a gif but the quality is really poor. Any way to correct that?? I can't believe that this so complicated. Is there a piece of code that I am missing? Can this even be done successfully? The last animated invite I did was in photoshop and was nearly as complicated as this one and didn't want to mess with it.
Help. Client is getting anxious, and if I have to rebuild in Photoshop I need to get started.

    What I Learned...
It seems there is no simple way to do this. So this is what I did, I exported the swf as an animated gif. It wasn't great but it worked in "most" emails but not all. Because of the that we went with a traditional, "click here" to view your invitation email. We considered using constant contact or a similar program that would embed the gif, but the client didn't want to have to enter all the email addresses. I decided I didn't want to spent the time to rebuild or use the png files in Photoshop.
This isn't something I will be recommending to future projects. It's just to dicey making sure that it works in every email format.

    -DK

    yes you can
when you create a job using SM36,there is a option for start condition

  • How To Create A Website Background Video In Adobe Edge ?

    Hello,
I have video file in my computer SSD drive and i want it to play as background on my web page (page that i am creating).I did try to follow this video:
How To Create A Website Background Video In Adobe Edge Animate Using Edgehero - YouTube
but i cant follow 100% what he is doing.
Guide that i did try to follow is at this link: How To Create A Website Background Video In Adobe Edge Animate Using Edgehero - YouTube
Steps i do in Adobe Edge Animate CC
    1.) Create New
2.) i click + sign under section Library >> Scripts >> Add JS File from URL...
URL that i am adding is: http://www.edgehero.com/edgehero.js/1.2/edgehero_1.2_min.js  (URL is taken from site: Edgehero.js )
I add this link: http://www.edgehero.com/edgehero.js/1.2/edgehero_1.2_min.js to box that occures after i click on Add JS File from URL
3.) I go to Edgehero.js and from there i scrol down to section named as Media - Html5 video / Html5 audio
and i select from there this:
    there is a code:
// this will set the video as background of the div/rectangle
    backgroundvideo_1 ='movie.mp4';
// put new edgehero.js variables here
4.) I go to Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014 and right click on project and select Open Actions for "Stage"
and then i click on + sign and select creationComplete
    This will open Stage window
there i will copy this code:
// this will set the video as background of the div/rectangle
    backgroundvideo_1 ='movie.mp4';
// put new edgehero.js variables here
5.) Then i click on ++ sign under library >> Video
and i add video from my computer SSD drive.
    Video is named as video3.mp4
Now i eddit the code in Stage window (See above)
code will look after editing like this:
Then i change under left side px to %
6.) Then i copy backgroundvideo_1 from Stage Code:
Then i select Rectangle Tool and mark the area  (white box) and i click on small C icon
And the box that occures i type there backgroundvideo_1_mp4 autoplay
now when i use ctrl and enter i only get gray box that does not play video.

  • Error while creating TO in background

    Hi Guys,
I am getting error while creating TO in background using Transaction code LB13.
The error is "No batch input data for screen SAPLSTXBC 0100" this is the screen which comes after saving a TO. Here we can give the printing details. If we are doing the TO in foreground with same transaction the data for this screen comes automatically. but in background it is showing the error.
So help me in getting rid of the problem.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Manasa,
What is your source for creation of CVC? Are you trying to create CVCs from infocube?
Could you try out the following to identify the root cause?
In the create CVC (/sapapo/mc62) variant, uncheck the check boxes for all the 3 checks at bottom of the variant, and also uncheck the "adjust time series objects" checkbox.
Come to "selection condition", and select one or few CVCs from your source (Infocube, or flat file, whatever).
Then try to run the job, which should only create one or few CVCs as per your selection criteria.
If you are able to create CVCs in this way, that could mean that you might be having some issue during some check or generation of time series. Delete the created CVCs and again try to create them by activating the checks one by one.
If the above helps in identification of the issue, then it might be possible to attack and resolve the issue e.g. special character, etc.
PS: You could also try the "load to worklist" option to try to identify the CVC having issue. There you can specify one or few CVCs to be created in one go, and this might help in identifying if there is an issue with a certain CVC.
    Thanks - Pawan

    Hi Sa'ad
Its been a little while since I used Web Analysis but I remember that there are issues if you have more than 1 dimension in rows or columns. What I cannot remember is whether it automatically shifts a dimension to the page or whether as you suggest it just doesn't display.
Pie charts can only display data from two dimensions (1 rows, 1 columns), you can filter using dimensions on pages. If that doesn't give you what you need then I'm afraid you need to stick to a different chart type.
    Hope this helps
