Creating a flat .zip file on a MAC

Can someone please tell me how to create a flat zip file using my MAC. I control-click the files and choose compress and it puts them in a folder. Basically, I want to know how to select many photos and compress all of them into a zip file but then when one clicks on the zip file to open it it DOES NOT open another folder with the pictures in them, but rather just opens the pictures. PowerSchool only accepts flat zips.
Thanks!

You might try using a different utility. Or download the utility iTweaX - CNet Downloads or MacUpdate. Open and click on the Misc tab of the Tweaks menubar item. At the bottom click on the button labeled "Archives." This will install a new System Preferences item from which you can alter the behavior of the built-in Zip utility.

  • How do you create an AcrobatXI zip file in windows 8.1?

How do you create an AcrobatXI zip file in windows 8.1? from acrobat.com docs?  Sorry Not sure what community to ask this in this community?  The email provider I was using didn''t seem to want to accept it through Adobe Send the first time and since Adobe Send ends January 6, I am assuming a zip file is preferable..  I thought I had seen an Adobe Zip file somewhere but haven't been able to locate it. Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Sherrie L,
Adobe Send is Adobe's current solution for sending large files. (It's Adobe SendNow that's retiring soon.) Can you tell us what trouble you were running into using Adobe Send?
There isn't a special version of Zip files for Acrobat, but you could reduce the PDF file size if you have Acrobat. Or, in Windows, you can create a Zip file by choosing File > Send to > Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

  • How to create a split zip file?

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to create a split zip file using only Java?
Lets say I have a file that compressed has a size of 10MB and I need to split it into small files of 1MB each... and then be able to open and uncompress it using winzip or any other compressing tool.
I know how to create a zip file using java.util.zip but I cannot split it...

Import e-mail into numbers Mac Pro 10.10.2 Yosemite can not open the zip file with data, names, addresses. Jerry

    Jerry,
Numbers cannot open a zip file.  drag the zip file to the downloads folder or the desktop or where ever you like.
Double click the zip file.  This should "unzip" the file (that is it will uncompress the file).
then, hopefully, there is a Numbers file in the resulting files.  double click the numbers file

  • How to create a proper ePub Zip file on the Mac

I need to zip my iBook content with two critical requirements:
    1) the first file must be the "mimetype" file (my ZipIt utility wants to reorder files, alpha, by name, rather than retaining the order that files are added into the archive).
    2) that first file must NOT be compressed; the remaining files are to be compressed.
I did find one discussion on the web that says that the Applescript below will do it ... but I don't know applescript syntax and when I tried to create a script file it did not like anything that I substituted between the quotes.

Apple did eliminate them, yes, but the Mac OS (and most apps) still support the use of fonts that are contained in font suitcases. These include fonts such as Garamond, Lucida Sans, and Handwriting Dakota.
What I'm not sure of, however, is the ability of iOS on the iPad to handle fonts suitcases. Likewise, I have a feeling that the EPUB standard would frown upon .epub files that contain resource forks.  Such files may (untested) work on Apple devices, but would almost assuredly trip up other eReaders.
The most likely solution to the problem I've encountered is to extract the font data from the resource forks and create new data fork only files that contain the fonts I wish to use.

  • How can I read a PC created disc of dbx files on a Mac

I have a backup of my old e-mails on disc which I created on a PC (as .dbx files).
I now need to refer to the e-mails, but I no longer have a PC.
All guidance I have read appears to require the use of a PC to convert the .dbx files to .mbx before they can be read on the Mac.
Does anyone know of a way of directly reading the disc on a Mac and accessing these files please.
    Many thanks. Bigtrev

Only Pages, Preview, Pages for iCloud beta, and Pages v2 or later on IOS 7 can open native Pages v5.2.2 (.pages) documents. Sending a Pages v5.2.2 document to someone without Pages v5.2.2 is futile.
If you are using Gmail or Dropbox, you will need to right-click on that Pages document, and then choose compress from the contextual menu. You can then attach filename.pages.zip, because it appears as a single document, and not a folder.
Pages v5.2.2 has a Share button on the Toolbar. Providing your document is already in iCloud storage, you can Send a Link to iCloud via the following:
The Share toolbar icon also allows you to Send a Copy to Email, Messages, and AirDrop. This will present you with the document export sheet, the same one you get if you chose to File > Export To menu item, as the alternative.
If you are sharing document content with an MS Office user, then the document you want to send them is either a Word .docx, or .doc. If they want just a read-only view of your content, send a PDF, for improved cross-platform exchange.

  • Is it possible to create a local zip file then upload it to server?

    Hi
I'm developing a Flex app where I need to allow users to upload a potentially large number of text files, and it makes sense to zip them all up before uploading.  I don't want to force users to have manually zip the files first but I'm guessing there are security features that prevent me doing it the preferred way.  Is that the case or does anyone have any alternative suggestions to accomplish the same task?
    Thanks

    Thanks Zombiecook
I've done very little server side scripting but wouldn't the ability for server side PHP to create zips on a local hard drive be a massive security flaw?
Googling suggests compress & upload within Flex has been requested for years so I'm surprised there's no automatic support for it yet.  I'd much rather develop in Flex but the lack of this single feature may mean that I have no choice but to opt for Silverlight instead, which is a bit frustrating.

  • DPS App Builder - Can't create ipa or zip files

    Hello,
    I'm following this guide : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ppcompdoc/Step_by_step_guide_to_dps_se.pdf
But I'm stack on page 55 between number 6 and 7.
The program download my files, and change for this message (FR sorry) :
So it look like it finnishs to download successfully and I think try to compute files.
But quickly, I get this error (where I'm currently stack) :
If I try to translate it, it should be somethink like :
-> Not enough ressources for the "sheet" (?) of thisapplication. To fix it, delete the "sheet" and create a new one in the Folio Builder Panel, and then try to rebuild your application.
I spend half day to fix links and update all the project as I was guessing this error will be a wrong indesign file link.
I can also try to recreate an application, but the error message is (for me) more that you don't know what to do and do not want to lost another half (or full) day just to pop the same error message.
I was already make kind of the same app on a friend account and do not show this error, so if someone already seen it or know how to fix it, it will be really nice.
In the wait time, I start to rebuild all the app from start and let you know if something change.
    Thank you.

Sorry, look like my post number 4 was for my second thread.
Anyway I fix it by log out Folio Builder in Indesign and log in again.
BUT I'm still stack on the picture on main post.
AND it is for sure with my new app, made from start, add page per page.
On this new app, the Adobe Content Viewer works fine on Desktop and iPad 3.
To help a bit, I make a Google translate of the massage :
Resources are insufficient for the sheet of this application. To solve this problem, remove the sheet and create a new one using the Folio Builder panel, and try to rebuild your application.
As I now understand, it is maybe just one indesign file to doesn't works, but which one ?
And my book is a translation of an other one (my first one) that work perfectly without trouble. I just change some page as it was French specific.
If someone can help me and save my deadline
    So desesperate.
    Thank you for reading.

No, it doesn't. You are being faked out by the Unarchiver tool. It is creating that folder.
I want to click on the zip file and just have the photos pop out. No folders, I want it to be a flat zip file. MacZipIt isn't working for me on 10.6.4. Any other thoughts?

  • Convert to ZIP file

How can I reduce the size of an 8MB file in order to forward it by email to another recipient?
Online Acrobat.com retrieval won't work for this person  - I HAVE TO email it as an attachment.

    HI vwi admin,
I'm sorry that Acrobat.com wasn't an option for your recipient. Typically, your operating system allows you can compress files and create more manageable .zip files. On Mac OS, for example, you select the file in the Finder, and choose File > Compress <filename>. Here's some information about compressing files on Windows: System requirements | Acrobat.com

I am currently extracting data from a table and creating a flat file which is read later to create a compressed (zip) file.
Is there a way that I can create a zipped file in one step (i.e. directly from the table data)? I am trying to reduce the number of file i/o hits in my appication.

Is there a way that I can create a zipped file in one step (i.e. directly from the table data)?Yes. Instead of doing something like:
    FileOutputStream fout = new FileOutputStream("flatfile");
    // write using foutdo this:
    ZipOutputStream zout = new ZipOutputStream("flatfile.zip");
    zout.putNextEntry(new ZipEntry("flatfile"));

  • ZIP file created in OS X won't open correctly in XP

    Hi there,
I created a ZIP file of a 196MB folder (full of pictures) in OS X using the right-click, "Compress." When a friend tried to unzip this file in Windows XP, the only file inside the archive was a 0KB file titled _MACOSX. The ZIP file itself was still the correct size, but it was essentially 196MB of empty space. When I open the same ZIP file on my Mac, everything appears as it should,
Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

You're right - my friend was trying with the built-in XP ZIP support.
I'll have him try one of those programs. Thanks.

  • How to open a zip file of photos on Mac Book Pro when it cannot find or fix alias

I do a home photo editing business.  One of a my clients sent me a disc that she zipped to compress because there were a lot of pictures on it.  When I try to open it on my Mac Book Pro I keep getting an error message that it cannot find alias and what program do I want to use to open it.  It also gives me an option to "fix alias" but it doesn't seem to work.  What am I doing wrong?  Why can't I open zip files on my Mac Book Pro?  I should probably mention that the client also uses a Mac Book Pro and her pictures were in her iPhoto before she zipped them on a disc.
    Thanks for your help!!!

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it.  I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go.  I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it.  My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue.  It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking.  It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above.  I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes.  It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me.  She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.
