Creating a font shadow/outline

Hello!
I am VERY new to Adobe Illustrator and I am trying to recreate my company logo so as to save it in a higher res file type.
See attached.
The font is Melanie BT Roman, but I cannot figure out how to create the shadow / outline effect.
Any help is appreciated!

That is true but if the text is live then there is of course no align to the outside.
And there is not real reason the Amray1981 should have to outline the text.
1. select the text with the selection or direct select tool
2. Go to the Apperance panel and from the flyout menu select New Stroke and make it white.
3. then drag the new stroke below the characters item in the appearahnce panel
4. give it a sufficent weight to give the look you want actually it has to be twice the measurement you want to show.
5. Go to the Effects>Stylize>Drop Shadow and make your adjustments you're done
BTW there are two items in the Effects menu that are called Stylize you want the one on top.
In order to drag the stroke under the characters item in the Appearence panel you place the cursor to the right of the stroke weight and click and hold and drag.

Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro: Cannot find or create the font 'Arial'.

I have two workstations both running Acrobat 8.1.2 Pro, both have the font Arial installed and working just fine in other applications.
I have a pdf file from a customer which opens fine in one workstation, the other workstation gives the following error and shows all text in the pdf as "dots".
Cannot find or create the font 'Arial'. Some characters may not display or print correctly.
I've Googled "Cannot find or create the font" and find this problem has been reported in Adobe forums and elsewhere in several previous versions of Adobe Acrobat. Nowhere is the problem resolved... most responses suggest the font Arial is not installed which is not helpful as the Arial font is indeed working fine in other applications.

I am having the same problem Sam is. I only see dots in my document and received the same error mesage only I was using a different font. The font is installed on y system and usable in other documents.
I tried to change the font (dots) to a different font but received an error messge stating the change could not be done because the "chosen font and the font encodings in the document differ and could not be resolved"

Xcompmgr draws trailing shadow outlines without the -f flag

I have been fiddling around with xcompmgr, and so far its been pretty cool, i like being able to see through my terminals and fading effects were cool for a while, but i noticed that after long periods of use it would start bashing X and i would get weird stuttering till i killed it. Ive read that this has to do with a memory leak in xcompmgr's fade option.
Basically i want to get rid of fade, but whenever i turn it off, i get weird trailing shadow outlines. In addition to the trailing shadows i also get shadows on my terminal that i have set as part of my background (which makes it look quite ugly).
Is there anyone who knows how to fix this trailing shadow problem short of turning on fade effects?
I have an nvidia geforcego 7700 if that helps at all.

Edit: actually an alternative composite manager for openbox would be fine too, i just want my transparency and shadows with no troubles

How can I create a 3D cube outline?

Hey everyone,
I've been trying to create a 3D cube outline like in the image below:

I want the outline to be hollow so I can place another 3D image inside of it.
Can somebody please help me? I've been looking for tutorials everywhere but can't seem to find an answer. Thank you in advance.

Start with 2 squares (with the Rectangle tool) for the front and back facets.
Use the Line or Pen tool to connect the corresponding corners.
Select all 6 objects and Group. You will notice that the outer corners are not right.
So with your cube selected press Cmd/Ctrl+5 to make a guide of everything.
Now with the Pen tool click on each of the 6 outer corners of the guide cube and close the path by clicking where you started.
Then do the inner lines with either the Pen or the Line tool. Group.

Apart from SE73 i think that you have to create a new print control, which will probably contain the name of the font in hexadecimal code. I am not very sure of that but you can find the following SAP note a bit helpful...

You would like to use a new font on the printer.
Solution
General advice:
1. This procedure can be used only if the desired font is available on the printer (that is, installed on the printer itself, installed via font cassette, resident in the printer via softfont download or, in case of device type SAPWIN/WIN, installed on the Windows PC) and can be called with a short printer command (max. 29 bytes). This printer command is maintained in the print control.
Solution procedure:
1. The original SAP printer type used previously must be copied to a customer printer type with a name starting with Z... (see Note 3166 for reasoning behind this). The function "Utilities->Copy device type" from transaction SPAD (spool administration) is used for this.
Example: HPLJIIID is copied to ZHPLJ3.
2. A new print control SFxxx must be maintained for device type Z.... It contains in most cases the printer control commands for setting the desired font. To find out what this printer command looks like, refer to the printer manual and the print controls SFxxx already contained in printer definition Z... . A certain amount of knowledge of the printer language is a prerequisite. The xxx numbering of the SFxxx print controls is arbitrary.
NOTE: The exact contents of the SFxxx print controls depend on the SAPscript printer driver used. For information on this, consult the CD documentation ("Basis system administration printer handbook") and the field documentation (F1 help) for input field "Print control" in SE73, Printer font maintenance.
Printer driver HPL2 (PCL 5 printer):
SFxxx must contain the PCL 5 command for character set and print selection. CAUTION: As of Release 4.0A there are special rules which apply if the flag "Scalable font" is activated.
Printer driver POST (Post script printer):
SFxxx must contain the name of the Post script font, for example "Helvetica"
Printer driver PRES (Kyocera PRESCRIBE printer):
SFxxx must contain the PRESCRIBE command "FONT xx:" for font selection, for example "FONT 42;"
Printer driver SWIN (Windows print via SAPWIN/SAP1pd):
SFxxx must contain the Windows font name. CAUTION: As of Release 4.0A special rules apply if the flag "Scalable font" is activated for the printer font.
Printer driver STN2 (Target printer):
SFxxx must contain the complete command for the selection of the
character set, the increment, bold and italic print and font.
Print control SFxxx is defined for device type Z... in transaction SPAD under the heading "Print control for device type". Example: print control SF900 for device type ZHPLJ3 with replacement text (i.e. printer command)

     size      ...
(Font size 1/10 point, for example 240, for printer drivers that support scalable fonts, 000 is entered here)
     bold      .
(X if bold type, otherwise blank)
     italic    .
(X if italic type, otherwise blank)
     CPI       ..,..
(number of characters per inch (CPI)
If font is not a proportional font (for example HELVE,TIMES),
for example 05.00)
     PrtCtl 1 SFxxx
(Refer to field documentation (F1 Document) for exact meaning. The name of the 2nd created printer control is normally entered here.

If the font is a proportional font (HELVE or TIMES), an AFM file that contains the width values for the individual characters in the font must be entered under "Printer fonts" in SE73. Direct maintenance of the AFM data is done from the list of printer fonts with Menu "Edit -> fontmetric using a menu function. To do this you place the cursor on the line with the newly created printer font and choose "Edit->Copy fontmetrics" on the menu. If you have created, for example, a new printer font

you can copy the metric of

Releases before 3.0A do not have this menu function, and you must manually copy the AFM files from the group box to the new printer font via the XX.XX function in the AFM editor. Then the new AFM files can be checked for correctness (Menu "Fontmetrics ->Check") and saved.
As of Release 3.0 it is possible to establish a link to the fontmetrics of another device type or to a default (all characters with width 500) instead of copying the fontmetrics explicitly. You can check the correctness of the complete font definition in SE73 in the list of printer fonts with the function "Edit->Generate font def.".
4. As a final step, the device type of the output device used must be changed from the SAP original to the new printer definition Z... in transaction SPAD. This is done in SPAD under the heading "Output devices".
Example: printer LP05 previously had device type HPLJIIID and is now being given device type ZHPLJ3.

Can I create default font attributes in mail like on the Mac?

Is there any way to create default font attribute on the iPad for Mail specify, but anything else as well? I haven't been able to find a thing.

I guss you figured it out, but I already did the screen shots, so I'll post anyway.
Once you have your simple font templates created, it's just 3 clicks and a select away ( okay 5 clicks total ).

Removing font shadow on pie charts in Numbers '09

We are using TINA backup solution and windows 2003 backup is failling with VSS error.
For testing purpose we initiate a system state backup (or any file backup) with the help of windows 2003 ntbackup.exe and found it is failing with below error.

After getting this error we check Shadow Copy provider and writer health and fond it is fine.

Next I check Shadow Copies details from volume properties (right click on C or other drive then select properties then click on Shadow Copies Tab) and found it is showing the same error code..
From this error it is clear that the issue is inside the registry hive and due to junk hive shadow copies services not able to working properly.
For me the server have two disk we check disk signature at MBR and found the disk signature was.
Signature disk 0 : 9351912b
Signature disk 0 : FDFBE035
But at registry we found lot of nonexistance signature. Which indicate lot of junk valu inside registry.
Now how can we resolve this issue?
It is very simple just delete the registry key “volume” (registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\STORAGE\Volume”) and reboot the server it will “Volume” registry hive automatically.
Note:
When you remove registry key it is showing error unable to delete, then please right click on it select permission then take ownership and assign full permission to your login account.
Please be careful when you delete registry key because system can fully crashed if you delete or modify wrong registry key.
Your can take a backup of the registry key by exporting.

Creating a Font From Symbols

Hello:
I am looking to create a Font in OS X. I want to make it from a symbol I have in multiple forms (pdf jpeg, tiff, etc) How would I do this?
The reason I want to is so that I can insert the symbol into an iMovie via a Title. I think it might work.

I am having a similar problem on my machine. I was using Word 2008 and I created a PDF inside Word.
I am opening the file on the system itself and I am running Windows 8.1. I am using Version 11 of Reader.
When the PDF I created (my resume) attempts to open, it says: cannot find or create the file Times, Bold. Some characters may not display or print correctly.
However, the entire Reader keeps freezing and will not allow me to open or test print the document. Also, it is not displaying any of the Bold Times New Roman Print. Can you please help? Thanks.

Nothing will look as good as doing it by hand, so unless there were a lot of text, I'd do it that way.
