Creating a "hula hoop" around someone

I'm using CS4 on an iMac. I have a photo of a woman. I need to creat "swooshes" or "hula hoops" swooshing around her. I can't find a good tutorial that will show me how to do this. I am then cutting her out to import her into an illustrator file, so the hoops need to have hard edges. I'd like them to look 3D, if possible. Is there a good tutorial for something like this out there? Basically, I want it to look like she's spinning without actually having her become blurry.
Julie

If anyone is looking for a great idea for a website, then a central index for all the really great tutorials would fit the bill IMO.  A small thumbnail of the end result hot linked to the tutoral page.  I have seen a great tut a while back, but can't find it now.  I think it was Planet Photoshop.  Anyway, this tutorial goes a step or two beyond wrapping hoops around people.

  • How to draw an ellipse (hula hoop) around a person's waist?

I need to draw an ellipse including arrows around a person's waist to show the direction of exercise movements.  I don't have a graphics program as this is a one off project.  Is there a way to do it with Photoshop CS5 or is there a plug in I can use with CS5?  Someone on the internet referenced the stroke tool but I haven't been able to use anything with the ellipse tool.  It needs to look as if the person was standing inside the ellipse (wide line) sort of like a hula hoop with arrows to show the direction.  Thanks for any ideas.

    Hello there!
Here are some steps so you can see what to duplicate at home:
    1. Create a eclipse shape.
    2. Change the Fill to nothing, then the stroke.
    3. To transform the ellipse, Press Command+ T.
    4. Select the Eraser tool. Erase the portion of the ellipse that interferes with the woman.
    5. You can see below the portion that i removed so it appears that the ellipse is surrounding the woman.
    6. To create the arrows, I just selected the pen tool, and adjust the fill/stroke. Draw a arrow on the stroke of the ellipse.
    7. You can see the arrow I created below. I then duplicated these shapes (Command-J) and spread them around the ellipse with the Move tool.
    8. Below you can see my finished product.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • Is there a way to use Premiere Pro CC's new mask tracking with a red circle around someone?

I know how to do the face blurring, but just wondering if there is a way to put a red circle around someone or something and track it using the new mask tracking on Premiere Pro CC?
    Many thanks in advance!

Yes this is the fix.  I was getting frustrated over this issue.  I use Dreamweaver across two minitors and the palette locations were resetting back to the main monitior where the app was.  This unchecking and a quick log out and back in fixes the issue.  Thank you!

  • Creating a manual "trap" around a vignette fill?

I need to create an manual "trap” around a vignette.
I am finding that the “Trap” feature in Pathfinder isn’t working for this, and so I would prefer to do it by creating a stroke around the shape.
Two screen shots are attached. I have highlighted one shot with the area in black to refer to the area I am attempting to affect.
My difficulty is finding how I can create the stroke which has the same colour values as vignette fill.

Since CS6 you can put a gradient onto a stoke. You can also offset the path. With either method you may want to tweak the gradient to match the original values.
Object >> Path >> Offset Path, then manually adjust gradient to match.

You should also ask this in the iPad forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • I am in desperate need of help figuring out how to create intricate cut marks around artwork to be made into stickers in indesign.

Hi everyone! I am brand new to InDesign, took a beginner's class on it, bought a Mac, ready to dive in. A friend of mine offered me an amazing opportunity to be the "middle man" for her sticker/magnet distributing business. She already has the artists and she does the printing and distributing (obviously) my job will be to create the cut marks around the artwork to designate where the printer blade should cut.....I have tried googling and you tubing, but my terminology is clearly severely lacking. ANY SORT OF ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!!! Thank you so much

Here's a method for creating a contour line in ID that might work in many situations to create the die line you'll need:
Place the art, then copy and "paste in place" so you have two stacked images.
For this type of art it's pretty likely that there is a strong edge contrast, even a transparent background, so there's a good chance you can make a decent clipping path. Select the top copy, go to Object > Clipping Path > Options... and set it to detect edges (turn on the preview). Play with the tolerance and threshold sliders (lower numbers are likely to work better) until you get a path that matches the shape to your satisfaction, and set an Inset Frame value if you want to chop off part of the art (not likely) or enter a negative value for moving the line away from the art (very likely). When you're happy, click OK.
Object > Clipping Path > Convert Clipping Path to Frame, then double click on the art inside the newly shaped frame to select the content (or use the direct select tool) and delete it, leaving the frame and the other art behind it intact. Apply a stroke to the contoured frame, colored with a spot color assigned to die lines (die lines are always a spot color so they are on their own plate all alone), and set the stroke to overprint.
Group with the art and you're done.

  • How can I create a white border around figures that are in an image? (CS 6; examples+image included)

    Hi,
I have CS6 and am wondering how to create a white ("comic style"?) border around figures in an image, as in the examples below. I don't wish to include the black shadow of the border, just the white part.
    Examples:
Here's the image I'd like to alter, making a white border around the outline of all five figures:
I researched for quite a while but could find no instructions. It would be very much appreciated if someone knows and would be kind enough to share the technique! Thank you.

If you make the image a layer (opposed to Background)...
You could Select the blue with the Magic Wand as Semaphoric says, then fill with white.  Then choose Select - Modify Selection - Contract, and mask or delete the remaining pixels.  The Contract operation will give you a nice border the size you choose.
For extra credit, you could use Refine Edge to make the selection more accurate.
Click to see the image  against a dark background.

  • HT4436 I don't see the point of having to create another email account - could someone explain the thinking behind this please?

For iCloud syncing there are a few items that require a new iCoud email address to be created (eg. Notes and email), whilst the majority of other options do not require this.
My question is simply why do these items need yet another email address to be created?  I would have though the Apple Id would have been sufficient to hang everything together...
If someone could explain the thinking behind this please I will hopefully be more comfortable with it and probably more likely to start using these features!
    Thanks in advance!

If TCP port 25 isn't open, then SMTP services won't work.  That's the port that all SMTP servers use to communicate amongst themselves.    (Sure, you can change the port your SMTP server is listening on, but you'd also have to change the port processing on all of the other SMTP servers around — and if you did manage to implement that change everywhere, the local network folks would likely just block the new port for the same reasons they blocked the old port.)
If you have a public static IP address and have correct forward and reverse translations — host domain to IP address, and IP address to host domain name — then you don't need and very likely don't want to run your own DNS server.
More to help you learn how these pieces fit together and not something I'd expect you would need given you have a public static IP and public DNS here is a detailed DNS server configuration article for OS X Server; enable Show All Records and it applies to Server.app on 10.7 and later.  If you have questions after reading that, I can certainly answer them and also update the article to try to reduce the confusion or answer the question.
Your host didn't have valid reverse DNS, so you'll want to get that cleared up, and you'll want to get the port blocks cleared, or work with the local network folks to set up a relay through one of the existing mail servers.

  • Can you create a web page for someone and then send it to them to use on their computer with a different iWeb?

  • Creating a text box for someone to type in to.

Please can someone direct me... I need to create a simple
text box within a flash movie, which will allow the web user to
type information into. The information does not need to be sent
anywhere (i.e. is just for their own use), we just require the user
to them be able to print out the page, with the text box contents.
    many thanks

use INPUT as text type instead of STATIC

  • How to create a square box around a word or character

L.S. I am looking for a way to create a square around a word or character like in the exemple. Can indesign do this? And if yes, how? Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry about that Peter. I am new at this. This is the image I was talking about. I also found an old post (2008) in the indesign google group.
    https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/adobe.indesign.windows/ojCr0qI2GBI
It says inthe 2008 post " . . .  there is no 'border' support for character styles." I was wondering if maybe in CS6 there is a way to achieve this?

  • Best way to create frame with stroke around a paragraph?

What is the best way to create a frame with a stroke around text? I
always thought it was with an inline frame, but now I see that trying to
put the cursor in the text is very difficult because the frame blocks
the cursor. Is there a better way?

    Thanks guys.
What I was doing was putting the anchored frame in an empty paragraph
above the paragraph that needed the box. The problem was when I tried to
put the cursor in the text the anchored frame blocked it. Why is an
anchored frame on top of text?
The easy solution would be to cut/paste the text into the anchored frame
(which would be similar to Ole's single cell table idea). I didn't want
to go this route for two reasons:
    1) I don't want to cut and paste every paragraph.
    2) I didn't want the story to be broken up. I wanted it to be one long
flow of text. It makes tings easier just in case the paragraphs have to
    break across two pages.
Jongware's underline/strikethrough idea is another good one, but I don't
like the idea of putting in all those extra characters.
What I ended up doing was using paragraph rules. I set the rule above to
1pt larger on all sides than the rule below so it looked like a box with
a stroke. Of course, the problem with paragraph rules is getting it the
right size. I wrote a script that calculates the size of the text and
sets the rule size the correct amount.
Of course this still has its problems when the boxes need to break pages...

  • Creating an outline/stroke around a graphic

I have a small graphic with a width of 170 and I simply want a 1 pixel stroke to be on all 4 sides of the graphic. I selected the whole graphic and it creates a selection around it, though how do I now turn that selection into a stroke?
    Thanks!

Select the graphic, then go edit>stroke and enter the details in the pop up window

  • Create a white border around round object

    Hi there,
I am a relative newbie to photoshop - I am trying to create a border around a logo that has rounded edges. I have used to stroke tool and it creates the border. However, when I try and save it and use it it still has square edges.
How do I get rid of the square edges and make sure that you only see the rounded border?
    Thanks!

Images are created with square pixels and so all image formats are either square or rectangular.
What you need to do is create a transparent background for your round logo with border.
Then you need to save it in a image format that supports transparency. (hint: jpegs don't support transparency)
Quick way to do this is double click the background layer in the layer panel to unlock it. (assuming you only have 1 layer?)
Then select the area outside your logo that you want to make transparent and hit the delete key.
You should see a checkerboard pattern. This pattern is only to to show you that this area is transparent, it won't print as a checkerboard.
It also depends on how the image is being used as not all applications support transparency.

  • How to create a boundary/outline around a hand-drawn item for laser cutting

    Hi!
I'm really new to Illustrator (having moved from CorelDRAW) last week and I'm really struggling!
I've got a laser cutter and the idea is to hand draw something, scan it in and then vectorise etc using Illustrator. However, I'm unable to create a boundary around my drawing once it's been 'expanded' so that the laser has a line to follow and cut.
I hope I'm explaining it so you can understand?  I know that this is the 'boundary' tool in CorelDRAW...
    Thanks in advance!
    Sarah

AI has no boundary tool. You have to manually draw/ create an outline that encompasses the artwork so it can be cut. To that end you can use any means you deem suitable from combining duplicates of your existing artwork with Pathfinders to manualyl re-drawing sections...
