Creating a keychain password item to handle these discussions pages' login

how?
I thought i did it right.. it is real straight forward, so i am a little confused.
i used the URL from the "login" link at the right side from the main discussions page, used my username and entered my password.
it does not appear to work.
help? anyone doing this?

Hi VC,
Thanks for reply.
Already i tried clearing cache, it is working fine for all other items but not clearing the cache of LOGINNAME and PASSWORD item.
Also written separate process for clearing the cache of LOGINNAME and PASSWORD item but no luck.
When you select the save password prompted by the browser in CHROME , that time it is not clearing the cache of USERNAME and PASSWORD item. but same thing working fine in MOZILLA.
When i am changing the PASSWORD item to textfield that time cache is getting cleared for LOGINNAME and PASSWORD item.
so, i found issue with the PASSWORD item (when we are going with save password option promted by browser - Chrome)
so,please suggest me how to handle the PASSWORD item .
Thanks and Regards,
Jitendra

  • Tried to create a SUDO password- can I undo these commands?

    Hi,
I read that if I created a SUDO password, I could use a root session to finally unlock my system preferences, which were not unlocking no mater how many times I entered my password or rebooted my computer. So I went into terminal and tried to create a password, but it wouldn't let me type one in. Long story short, I ended up with this....
Last login: Sun Mar 16 12:08:06 on console
    My-Names-MacBook-Pro:~ myappleid$ sudo passwrd root
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

Can I undo any of this? Have I totally screwed up my computer, and if so, can I fix it? Also, can I eventually create a sudo password/is there another way I can unlock my systems preferences (I tried robooting several times, and also could not find the file "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.HIToolbox.plist" to delete)?
Thanks for your help! Fingers crossed!

    Hi Niel,
Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to know I didn't mess anything up. I tried what you suggested, but it isn't letting me type anything in for the password. Do you (or anyone else for that matter!) have any suggestions for how I might fix this? Thank you!

  • Snow Leopard Created New Keychains

After the SL upgrade I now have two additional keychains in the sidebar besides the standard login, system and one other that I created for account passwords. Both of these new keychains are the same and are my user name for my account on this computer. Both of these are empty since I haven't created anything to be stored in them. Has anyone else seen this and do I need to keep these? I've run keychain first aid which repaired a couple of things but those remain. I'm not having any issues with these keychains or anything else that I can tell so I could just leave these as they are but I'm still curious.

  • TS1544 I never accepted to set up a keychain password when I was setting up my Mac. Now I'm being prompted for a password! It's rendered my Mac unusable.

I didn't accept to creat a keychain password when I was setting up my Mac, a couple of months ago. Now it's prompting me for one, & has as a consequence rendered it unusable?!

Bought new at WalMart.  With initial set up it asked use existing or create new apple id.  I chose create new.  I don't remember if it asked there for the email address but not a password.  It did ask for a birthday (they are both younger than 13).  So the home screen came up.  Went to settings>icloud>apple id and password.  I chose get a free apple id where it said they were too young so I used my husbands and my birth years for each girl.  So I still havent set a password entering the apple id's then chose forgot password entered the email and chose reset by email.  I tried by security questions but it couldnt verify the birthdays.  If it matters, their emails are attatched to an iPhone and an iPod but with my apple id.

  • HT5622 keychain password

I do not know my "keychain password." Two windows continue to appear on my laptop, "Messages agent wants to use the "login" keychain" and "com.apple.iCloudHelper.xpc wants to use the "login" keychain"... What can I do to get these messages to go away?  The iCloud keychain is turned OFF on both my ipad and my iphone.

The keychain password is the same as your login password, unless you changed it.
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Keychain password request on login

When I log in (admin account) I am asked for my keychain password. I'm not sure why?
When I enter my password (my login password) I am told that iti is invalid. I looked in the Help (a bit!) and it said the keychain password was the same as the Login password. If that's not the case, which password would it be as I haven't set any others up. Have I??
    iBook 1.42Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Your keychain password is usually the same as your login password, but it doesn't have to be. You can manually set the keychain password to be different, or in some situations it can become "out of sync".
Have you perhaps had to reset your password by booting from the install CD? Or have you logged in to another admin account and then used Sys.Prefs to change the password of the account that now has the problem?
In either of the above cases the login password will be changed but the keychain password will not. In those cases the keychain password will still be the original password it had before the change. So you might try using a previous password when prompted by the keychain to see if it works.
If you can discover the keychain password, then you can use Keychain Access to change it's password to match your login password. Then it will unlock automatically when you login and you'll stop getting prompted.
I suppose it's also possible that the keychain password may have become corrupt in some way. If this is the case you may be out of luck.
If you can't get the keychain unlocked after attempting any previous passwords, then you'll likely have to simply delete the keychain and let the system create a new one (which will be created with your login password).
In your home folder, go to ~/Library/Keychains and drag "login.keychain" out of the folder. Then logoff and log back in. This should create a new empty keychain for you and it should be "in sync" with your login password.

  • Having Problems with my keychain password!

I had just changed my password because I had forgotten the original one and decided to update and install the new version of Mac OS X. Now it is asking me for a keychain password and it is getting annoying. I know the keychain password should be the same as my login password but when I enter my login password it says invalid password. What should I do and can I get rid of this keychain thing?

The password would be the same as your old login password, which you say you've forgotten. If you don't know the password, the only option is to delete the keychain and start a new one. Use Keychain Access (in the Utilities folder). Follow the instructions for "Delete a Keychain" in Help.

  • How do i stop Mail asking for Keychain password?

I have my Keychain set up with a password.
I'd like to allow Mail access to the relevant parts of the Keychain WITHOUT needing me to enter my password all the time.
    How do I do it?
So far I've gone into Keychain Access, found my mail (IMAP & SMTP) passwords and added Mail to the list of applications to always grant access to, but it's still asking for my password.
Could it be due to my @me.com email? If so, what do I need to grant access to as I can't see any specific IMAP/SMTP me.com passwords.
    thanks,

  • Since i downloaded mavericks  my computer keeps asking for l? ocal items keychain password. What is that

Since I downloaded Mavericks my computer keeps asking forLOCAL ITEMS KEYCHAIN PASSWORD. What is that? It wont allow access to my computer without it!!

My guess is all the issues are probably related and fall back to malware.
AVG is probably correct in identifying malware. So I suggest you try some cleaning tools other than Emsisoft .
    ones I use (all of them one after the other until I find one that can cope) are;
    Roguekiller http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/
    Malwarebytes anti malware Free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/var2/confirm/
    ESET online scanner http://www.eset.com/int/home/products/online-scanner/
So first create a clean boot in Windows using Microsoft's instructions https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 and then run the anti malware applications.
My outside looking in guess is that malware has set itself up as an internet proxy and is is downloading copies of itself and other malware, blocking some mail port as times as downloading more malware is more important, and probably breaking your tivo as well..
Try the malware programs first. If that does not work I will try and talk you through some logging to see what is happening.

    Hi, nportillo,
The next time you attempt to reach Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.  Do not choose the obvious - you have already established that path is not working.  Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.
Skype is aware of problems reaching their customer service unit via the website, however people are getting through.  I have flagged your report for follow-up by those to whom I report.

  • I'm having a problem with keychain password, I never created Oneida

I Just ordered a new laptop and it is asking me for a keychain password which I have never created.  can anyone help me?

I don't think you provided a login password when you setup the computer. Your Apple ID is not your password, but it can be used to change a password if you configured that option during setup. You need to assign a login password. This should also become your Keychain password.

Should this not resolve the Keychain password request please let me know. Write your password down and store it somewhere safe in case you forget it.
