Creating a line separating columns?
I need to create a 4 column table for my website. However I
don't want a table where the outline is visible, instead I need to
create a separator separating the columns. Here is an examples of
what I mean.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/
I need something similar to the gray lines separating the columns.
Or is there a way to make the outline of the column invisible
except for the right side?
Thanks.

Give your <td>s a class name (as below) and use some
css (as below)

Vertical line separating columns?
The answer to this question is probably so simple it's embarrassing, but I can't seem to figure out how to insert a vertical line in the gutter between columns in a document. I think Pages will be great to work with once I master a few of these little questions. I don't want to have to go back to MS Word or WordPerfect!
Welcome to Apple Discussions
You will have to insert a line: Insert>Shape>Line. Then in the Metric Inspector rotate it to vertical and in the Graphic Inspector set the point size to adjust the thickness. To place more of them, duplicate the line (Cmnd D) and drag to the next gutter. I, too, wish there were an automatic way to do it.

How to use a vertical line as column separator in Pages?
I have a two-column document (a questionnaire) in which I'd like to have a thin vertical line separating the text columns for the sake of clarity. I've tried inserting a floating line using "Insert Shape" but it doesn't appear to like living between the columns. I see these column separators quite a bit in published multi-column layouts, so I figure that I'm not completely crazy. Can anybody offer a suggestion?
Charlie PerdueThanks... that did it! I had (mistakenly) assumed that once the line was "floating" that it wouldn't interact with the text any more, so that I didn't have to worry about the whole "wrap" issue.
Thanks for the quick response. -

Hi Friends,
I am trying to create a Line Chart based on CalMonth, where I want to show no. of SalesOrg denoted by different lines separately according to their monthly sales.
Please help.
Regards,
JatinHi,
To create chart this is the process..
1. Before you begin publishing a chart, you need to specify which chart type ( Line chart in your case ) you want to display. You can determine how the data provider is to be built by using the class of the chart type.
2. Select an existing query or design a new query with which you can generate a suitable view of the data, that is, a suitable data provider.
3. Start the publishing process and create a new Web item of type Chart.
4. We recommend configuring the properties of the chart Web item as follows:
○ Expanded hierarchy nodes should be hidden.
○ Totals should be suppressed.
○ If you want to swap the data providers in the chart, you should assign the Swap Display Axes property to the chart. The columns and rows are then swapped automatically when the chart is generated. You do not need to change the view on which the chart is based.
5. When you edit the chart, the Web Application Designer or Web Application Wizard first shows the default setting, that is, a column chart.
○ Firstly, format the chart using the wizard so that the most important settings and the number of displayed data series and data points correspond to your data provider (see also Formatting a Chart Using the Wizard). Assign the required chart type to the chart and format the chart as required.
○ All chart elements that you can format are displayed in the list of properties on the right of the screen. You can modify the properties as required here.
Also go through these links.

Though I have imported the following JDK parsers in the code , the Oracle's SAX parser is taking other inside the application server and throwing the above error for an xml , which is absolutely alright.
import javax.xml.parsers.ParserConfigurationException;
import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser;
import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory;
Please let me know why this happens? Is it a known bug in the OC4J 9.0.4.2?
Thanks and Regards

If you have used the SAXParserFactory.newSAXParser() method to get a parser, the documentation for this method says "Creates a new instance of a SAXParser using the currently configured factory parameters.".
So you might get a different parser in a different environment.

Creating multiple Line Graph having common values..

XML Document to String - Line Separator problem
Im facing a problem with line separator while converting a Document object to String.
Scenario: I get an input XML having line separator say \n (hex: 0A).
When I create the output XML using Transformer, the line separator is still \n.
I have a requirement which makes me convert the transformed Stream into a Document.
When I try to get the String/bytes from the Document, my line separator is now \r\n(hex 0D0A), which is my systems System property line-separator.
I want to keep the line separator same as that was in input string. So, if the input has the separator has \n, output should have the separator as \n and if the input has it as \r\n, output should have the same.
i.e. my hex output should match the hex input.
Any pointers in the direction are welcome.
Thanks in advance.Can I infer that the parser has changed my document
line separators when I load it into a Document?
If yes, is there a way to prevent that from
happening?I don't really know. Since the XML recommendation says that a parser "MUST" do line-break normalization, I would expect that it does. And I wouldn't design systems that use specific non-XML-approved line endings as a feature, either. -

How can i remove the line between columns?
I'm laying out poetry and I only want one column--even in landscape mode. But in landscape mode there's still the line between columns that cuts through my text. I've tried dragging the line, clicking on it and deleting it. When I click on it two Xes appear on the top and bottom, but they don't appear to do anything.
I did a little more reading of threads and now I understand the approach.
Go to View/Layouts and click on any of the layouts which appear on the left. At that point you will have access to the full page template and may make any and all changes you wish.
Keep in mind that some elements will be locked requiring an Arrange/Unlock command before you can eliminat them.
In the end it will be very easy to create completely customized layouts, including background images, rules, etc. etc.
Good luck with the poetry. -

I wont to create a line chart using a a PL/SQL script. If is possible, i wont put this script inside a report created using Web DB, as an action that it must run after the show of the report html page. Is possible to make that? what i can do?
Thanks a lot!
nullPL/SQL has no graphical capabilities whatsoever. However it is possible to represent values like this
X A ----
B --------
C -----
012456789
Y
in which for each row (the X axis) a substr() of the value '----------' is created using a value from the query (the Y axis).
Is that clear? Let's try an example. To print graphically the lengths of a column:
SELECT col1 as "X", substr('----------',1, length(col1)) as "Y"
FROM your_table;Not very pretty I grant you. But if you want pretty you'll have to use Oracle Graphics (now part of the Developer toolset) or java.
Good luck, APC

Hello
I am writing a tab limited file which gets its data from a string[][] array . When i try opening the file its messed up with square blocks in notepad and looks great with wordpad. I do know that Unix has '\n' as the line separator, whereas windows has '\r\n' and mac has '\r'.
The problem is the file is created on unix system, but its opened on windows or mac systems. Does anyone has a suggestion how can i fix this. I did tried using 'line.separator' but that doesn't help..which is obvious since it uses the unix separator.
Please let me know if anyone can help
I am writing to the file using PrintWriter
thanxisn't there a way just to know whats the line
separator used in the original file?The following will check out the line separator of a file..
final public class TestSeparator{
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception{
java.io.BufferedReader br =null;
int k=0x0,temp=0x0;
try{
br =new java.io.BufferedReader(new java.io.InputStreamReader(new java.io.FileInputStream("TestSeparator.java"),"UTF8"));//file and encoding are arbitrary
while((k=br.read())!=-1){
if((temp==(char)0xd)&&(k!=(char)0xa)) System.out.println();
if(k==(char)0xd||k==(char)0xa){
if(k==(char)0xd) {
System.out.print("r");
if(k==(char)0xa) {
System.out.print("n");
if(temp==(char)0xd||k==(char)0xa) System.out.println();
temp=k;
}//end of while
System.out.println("");
}finally{
if(br!=null) br.close();
}
