Creating a Link on the Column Heading
Good afternoon,
I know with reports, you can create a link for each cell in the report attributes section. My question is it there's any way to create a link for the column header without hard coding it into the query that generating the results.

If you are using the classical reports, you have the option of creating column header using pl-sql block which will be dynamic. Thanks

Infinite loop creating new page due to column header overflow.
i am getting an error and some pages "Infinite loop creating new page due to column header overflow. " --
using report builder 9, i have a fairly simple report - that contains 4 subreports.
for some pages i get the error - it seems if there is more data than would fit on 1 page.
smaller pages work fine.
the subreports are all simple queries and dumps....
containing page header, column header, detail sections.
page header has just a text bar of the name of the section.
column header has the field names
detail section has the data - 1 row for each row in the recordset.
nothing i do seems to change getting "Infinite loop creating new page due to column header overflow. " on a page with more than 15-20 records returned.

Changing the Column Header and Hiding the Column dynamically???
Hi friends..
I'm new to OBIEE field. I'm working in a OBIEE project that requires to dynamically change the column header, and dynamically hide the column depending on the prompt value.
I know we can dynamically change the table header using the presentation variable but I couldn't do that same thing with column header.
I searched some forums that suggest to use java script for this purpose but I'm not able to do the same also. If anyone had same issue before please help.toony, I'm not sure it's possible to do all that you want exactly the way you want, but here are some ideas you can pursue.

As far as dynamically hiding a column, I don't think you can do this, but since you don't provide any details on how the PV is supposed to hide a column based on the value, are you talking about hiding a column for one PV value and another (different) column for a different PV value? Or are you talking about hiding one column when a PV has certain values and displaying it when the PV has a different set of values?
I have managed to create both scenarios via a work-around, but the procedures require some writing so I don't want to put both. Please detail how you want your PV to "hide" a column or columns.
P.S. I don't think column selectors will do the trick for you. Basically column selectors work like this: Say you have a report using Sales Region ID, Region Name, and Sales. Now let's say you want the user to choose if he/she wants to see annual sales, or quarter sales or weekly sales, etc. The column selector view would allow you to put the various columns (Year Sales, Quarter Sales, Weekly Sales) as an option the user can select. Once selected, the sales figure will change for the time period selected. For an example of how this is done, check out the section in this "Oracle by Example" link.

How can i bring the column heading downloaded in excel sheet?
hi all,
I am using FM SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT to downloading populated internal table data into excel sheet by using filename type rlgrap-filename.
Now I need the column heading(field name) for downloaded data in excel sheet.
pls tell me how can i merge the col heading with data perfectly. Is there any FM fulfills this requirement.
pls give me a suitable approch.

How to change the column heading as the column changes
dear memebrs,
Take an example fo the table EMP. I need to create a report whose parameters are the table column names. so depending on the parameter(which is the column name) the report o/p changes.
so i am dynamically selecting the table column names and getting the o/p. The problem is when the column changes the heading of it in the report o/p is not changing.
we have to use format trigger for this, but i am not sure what code should we write in the format trigger of the boiler plate text of the column heading , such that it changes in accordance with the input which is nothing but column name.
for ex: If i choose EMPNO as the parameter then my column heading should become Employee Number and so on.......

sandeepyou can use a formula column of datatype character and of any width needed instead of a boilerplate text for the heading name.
In the formula column you can write code like below
IF :P_COLUMN_NAME = EMPNO THEN
return('Employee Number');
ELSIF :P_COLUMN_NAME = SAL THEN
return('Salary');
END IF;
where P_COLUMN_NAME the name of the column selected dynamically(i.e. the parameter). -

Are you saying you are not able to create an object by value (select: statement) as sysdate and put it onto the headers of your report? You can use the add_months() function on the object to add the numbers of months you wish.

This is Raji. I am doing the below UWl customization in the UWL. did struck some where.
I want to add the " Manage substitution link " in the UWL header page.I have added the" launchSubstitution manger " reference action in the" default view" of the XML configuration file.but not sure the "manage substitution rule " link is not appearing in the UWL table header.
in the same way i have added the "refresh" action . but that refresh link is appearing.
pls find the screen shot and the XML config file.

ALV - format the columns header
Hi all,
ALV list, created with FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLA, has the yellow background of columns header line and it's fine. When I view ALV in Microsoft Excel format, by pressing the corresponding icon, in the Excel file the color background of the first row (containing the header of the columns) is dark gray. The contents of the header cells are difficult to read because the background is too dark.
My questions are:
1. Can change the color of the column header of the ALV, to have the lightest color in Excel format?
2. Can be written in bold text in columns header of the ALV, to have the text in bold in Excel format?
3. Can write the header columns of the ALV (created with FM, non object oriented) in multiple rows, rather than one line?

SerenaYou can change color and text format in excel, when you change excel template.
You can export it in layout change, tab view and select excel and then choose sap_mm.xls (with macros).
rewrite macro for customer exit and import it back to system, then you can make it default. -

Currently working on a requirement where i need to sort the report by clicking the column header. Can anyone please help me on this.
Suppose i have 3 colums deptno,dname,sal fields in my report. if i click deptno column header, report has to sort by deptno.Like that i need for other columns also.

You can sort the fields using method suggested by Cauvery. However if you would like to have Ascending/ Descending sort order control at column header, then would require to implement few additional steps.
First do the sorting of field using the way suggested by Cauvery. Once sorting is done, right click on the column name and select the option ' Bind Sort Control'. You will see the sorted field in the window. select the field and click ok.
Now you would get 2 arrows on column. If you click upper arrow, fields would be sorted in Ascending Order and if you click on down arrow, it would be in Descending order.

does anyone know if it is possible to create multiple links to the same file using iWeb without the program automatically making multiple copies of that file in the published output? It seems that one file is created for each link.

How to sort data in descending order when user clicks on the column heading

I have a report called "Top customers", which shows the top customers for a specific product line. It displays the customer name and one column with the total amount spent in the period for each product line. By default, the leftmost product line is sorted in descending order.
If the user wants to know who are the top customers for another product line, they simply click on the column heading to sort the list by that column.
The problem is that when you click for the first time on a sortable column heading, Apex sorts it in ascending order; you need to click on the same column heading again to sort in descending order.
Is it possible to change this behaviour and sort the data in descending order in the first click? So the users don't have to click twice...

Take a look at Anton Nielsen's answer with regards to hiding a column and displaying its value instead of the sortable column.
Asumming the following simple report query:
select product,sales
from <table>
Change that into:
select product
,sales*-1 as reverse_sales -- Select this one as an extra column
,sales -- Hide this column
from <table>
In your report column attributes (of column reverse_sales), html-expression, type #sales#. It then displays the normal sales. However apex will generate a 'order by 2 asc' for the first time. The '2' will refer to the sales*-1 value: sorting it asc, is the same as sorting sales descending...

insert Editor.
select button.
then button will be only in the top most row.
