Creating a new calendar

After installing the update that finally brought back the Calendar feature I was really looking forward to create the yearly calendars for christmas.
Unfortunately I have to say that what I faced so far is no way matching what I consider the Mac experience.
1
The first calendar I created I'm trying to delete because there were issues with pictures overlapping.
However after closing and reopening iPhoto it resurrects from the dead. Again and again..
2
When trying to create a new calendar it ended several times being the first one mentioned above
3
The standard layout for a new calendar has overlapping pictures on the January page for every new calendar that I try to create.
When trying to change it by selecting a different layout on the page it only get's worse.
All this makes the feature unusable an unreliable for my purpose.
For me the lesson learnt is that I will wait for the first service pack before upgrading to the next version. Thought this was only valid for other environments.
Any help appreciated on solving point 1 to 3....
Many thanks in advance!

If Keith's suggestion doesn't work try this:
Backup the library and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

  • How do I create a new calendar for the current year, using last years calendar's birthday's/photos and comments from the lower pages?

Each year for the past 5 years I make a family calendar and send copies to all he family members around the globe.  I hate that I have to recreate all the birthdays and special occasions from scratch, and re-drag all the photos onto these dates, in the lower half of the page of each month on the new calendar.  How can I create a new calendar for the current year and port all of these photos/comments into the new calendar from last years calendar, to save having to redo all this work!!  I am not talking about the upper half page of the photos only...I am referring to the calendar page of each month.
    Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open iWeb so you see your original site in the left hand pane. Use the File->New Site menu option to create a new site. Give it the name you want.
Now select a page in your original site and type Command+D. That will duplicate the page. Drag the duplicate page down to the new site and rename it as needed. Do that for the other pages you need in the original site.

  • Is there a way to create a new Calendar that replicates all events

Is there a way to create a new Calendar that replicates all events from a subscribed calendar ? Mobile Me is great but my most important Calendar is technically in the "Subscriptions" category so it doesn't get pushed to me iPhone. I want to create a new Calendar and have it just automatically copy all the events from the subscribed calendar and keep up to date with that one.

    lincolnroadjeff,
I subscribed to a Holiday calendar that I also wanted to be published, and the only workaround that I found was to export the calendar, delete the subscription, and then import the calendar.
This obviously will only work with a subscription that is not often updated/subject to change.

  • Can I create a new calendar in ICal on my iPad?

Can I create a new calendar in ICal on my IPad?

Tap and hold a file. When it starts to shake, drag it on top of another file. This will create your folder. By the way, you can't create any nested folders (folders inside of folders).

  • How can I create a new calendar on iCal iPad 2????

I need to create a new calendar on iCalendar from my iPad 2? The app doesn't have the "new calendar" button like the Mac version.

Wait until iOS 5 is released on wednesday, then you will be able to create them directly on the iPad - from http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html#more :
Add, rename, and delete calendars directly from your device.
Until then you can only add calendars by syncing :
You can sync calendars from applications such as iCal on a Mac, or from Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 on a PC. (On a Mac, you can sync calendars with multiple applications. On a PC, you can sync calendars with only one application at a time.)
    or
In Settings on iPad, turn on Calendars in your MobileMe, Google, Yahoo!, or Microsoft Exchange account to sync your calendar information over the air. If your company or organization supports it, you can also set up a CalDAV account

  • Unable to create a new calendar

I'm unable to create a new calendar in iCal. If I open the File menu, and hover on "New Calendar", it doesn't display me any options. Nothing happens! See screenshot below:
Anyone have any ideas? I mainly use Google calendars, but I'd like to add a local calendar on my mac.
    Regards,
    Joost

    Fix:
Open iCal preferences, disable all Google calendar accounts. Now I can create a new calendar "on my mac". After creating it I can turn the Google calendars back on and the local calender will stay.

How do you create a new calendar.  I have ver 4.3

I believe this is a limitation of iOS 4. I think it was added in iOS 5.
You have an iPad 2. You can update to iOS 6
    Connect your iPad to iTunes:

Scroll down to the update using iTunes section

  • Ical won't let me create a new calendar, unless it is left "untitled."

When I create a new calendar in iCal, I can't name the calendar what I want (unless I leave it as "untitled"). However, color coding still works.
Please advise. I am running the most recent software as of today: OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
    Thank you.

  • Downloading iCal file on iPhone and creating an new calendar to add it under?

I am trying to download an iCal file on my iPhone and add it to my calendar on my phone. I was wondering if I can create a new calendar within my iCloud calendar on my phone and add it to that, instead of it automatically adding to my normal calendar, rather than having to go home an do it on my Mac?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I wrote a little ePub on this subject, it is available at www.sk-america.com/products/
If you are not in the mood for that brief read, all you need to do is set you calendar up on any device and sync them all using iCloud.
But, for $0.99 you can have pictures and text that show you how to do it... (shameless plug, I know, but hey, we all gotta eat...)
If you have difficulty, just email me back [email protected]

  • I want to make the date on my iPad 2 ios 5 colorful, but i don't know how. How do you create a new calendar, and how do the colors change?

I want to know how to creat a new calendar and change the colors of my other events.

To change an event make a new list of calendars.  Go to the specific calendar you want to change (e.g., "All Day") and then go to "edit", "get info", and change the color.

You may create own calendars for special purposes as e.g. Sport's, secret events, hobby's and so on.
As iCal allows to share calendars, you want eventually not share family events to others or if you manage a circle you may only share the "Homebrew" calendar with them.

  • Create a new calendar in mountain lion

How do I create a brand new calendar for someone else using mountain lion?

I mean the calendar app that comes with Mountain Lion. I have my own calendar with many entries.
Another family member would like their own calendar. I have tried to create new and all of my entries come up on the new one. I want a fresh blank calendar.

  • Want to SAVE Old ical, and create a NEW Calendar???????

    Hi there,
I am a school teacher and I used ical a lot this year. However, this September, I have a whole new bunch of courses.
Is there a way, to 'save' my 2005-6 calendar (with all my course due dates, all colour co-ordinated etc), and to create a totally new calendar?
Every time I click on 'new calendar', it just creates another blank box under 'calendar', but my old ones are just above it.
Does this make any sense? i'll see if I can do a screen capture shot. In the meantime if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated
    thanks

    Hi George,
You would be well advised to back up all your data regularly.
About to backing up iCal specifically as an archive of events, there absolutely is no reason not to do this annually.
As to how you organise your calendars, this depends on many factors including how many different types of class you run and if they can sensibly be divided into groups.
Group calendars are intended to define groups of calendars and moving calendars into groups should not affect the colouring of the events. An advantage of groups is that you can show and hide all of the sub calendars in one go.
Take a look at iCal Help (in iCal's Help menu) for more info.
    Best wishes

  • My imported Google calendar has collapsed, and when I try to create a new calendar, thunderbird don't accept the location, copied right from the Google calendar

One day my Google Calendar in T'bird wasn't able to sync and I couldn't do anything, so I have deleted the calendar and started to try to create a new one (which would be the same as the old). I have followed the steps of description, but when I have tried to copy the XML location of my private calendar (from Google Calendar), the URL has received a red frame and the Next button has been inactive.
I don't know what the problem is. I have tried the ICalendar, but it wasn't good, I couldn't edit the events, just saw them.

    Thank in advance

see http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/lightning-and-caldav.html at the very minimum I think you will need to modify the hidden preference mentioned there
