Creating a new profile works fine at first, but back to original problem when opened again

Ok, so I've been reading about how people have had trouble with slowness using FF, and up until the past week, I've honestly never had a problem with FF. But recently, in the past week, every time I open up a couple of web pages, it slows right down and then into the 'spinning pizza wheel' so that I have to do a force quit. So after a lot of research on these help pages, I tried going into safe mode, as well as doing a full reset, but nothing helped. I then tried to create a new profile, and problem solved! Or so I thought. It turns out that I can open as many pages as I want when I first open this fresh new profile, but when I quit out of FF and then open this new profile again (using the profile manager), it goes right back into slowing down with the 'spinning pizza wheel' again, and so I then have to force quit. I can delete and recreate this new profile over and over, and I keep getting the same result - FF works fine on the first try, but close out and reopen the new profile, or my old one for that matter, and back to the original problem! Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!
BTW I'm using a 2010 Mac Pro running OSX 10.8.5 with the latest version (25) of FF

the apple guys should do something...this is a bad feedback on their part. this will drive away their costumers knowing this....is there any solution to this?

Doublechecking before proceeding. Is iTunes endlessly saying "Accessing iTunes Store"? Or is something a bit different going on?

  • Report works fine in VS2010 but simply doesn't show when published

    Problem:
Crystal Report works fine in VS 2010 but doesn't show when published to web-server, there is no error, it simply doesn't show.
    Background:
Installed VS2010 on a freshly installed and fully updated (.net 4.0 is included in the updates) windows server 2003 box with production release Crystal Report 2010. Nothing else is on the server.  IIS 6 is running.  My web-server and VS2010 is on the same box.
I went ahead and created a new asp.net 4.0 web project called webapplication1. Thereafter, i put a few controls (text-boxes, list-boxes and so on)  on the default.aspx page. Then i created a report.aspx page. This page will have the crystal report viewer on it. I went ahead and set the report up without much hassle (got how-to's from the internet).  I successfully tested my web app with the built-in testing server, the beautiful crystal report presented exactly what i asked it to. There was one recurring "Sys.Application is null or not an object" hiccup that occured every time during testing when i navigated from the default.aspx page to the report.aspx page (the page the report is on). Clicking ignore or continue  on the dialogue box that comes up because of the hiccup will allow testing to continue.  Here's a screen-shot of this recurring hiccup.
    http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq122/ricom_19/Testing-Error.jpg
As i've shown, testing went great, except for the hiccup. I now moved to setup a publish profile. Since my web-server and VS2010 is on the same box this seemed relatively straight forward. All the files went over except the report, i.e. crystalreport1.rpt  file. I solved this by  setting the build action to 'Content' in the CrystalReport1.rpt properties. I did a republish. Now i have all my files, see screenshot: [http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq122/ricom_19/Application-Home-Directory.jpg], on the web-server.
I proceeded to try to browse to my app from another computer on my network. This was successful until i tried to navigate to the report.aspx page that the crystal report is on. The the report.aspx page loaded but the crystal report was simply not on it. No errors, not even the hiccup from testing occured. Its as if the crystal report viewer was never on the page to begin with. Only when i right clicked on the page and 'view source'  did i see some remnants of the crystal report viewer.
Here is the Report.aspx page when tested in VS2010:
Here is the Report.aspx page when published to the web-server and browsed to from another computer on the network:
Details of adding report to my web app:
    1) Populate my dataset then write the XML schema, reportschema.xml
    2) Added the crystal Report to the project then used the wizard to navigate to the reportschema.xml. Of course i had to create new connection in Database expert. see screen-shot:
    3) I formatted the report the way i wanted it
    4) Added the Crystal report viewer on the Report.aspx page
    5) In the code-behind of the Report.aspx page i bound the viewer to a report document that is loaded with CrystalReport1.rpt file
    see screenshot: [http://i440.photobucket.com/albums/qq122/ricom_19/Report-Page-Code-behind.jpg]
That's it.  As mentioned, it tested fine in VS2010 but the viewer doesn't show when i publish to the webserver. I wrote a crystal report in .net about 8 years ago. Things have changed soooo much since then.
I am wondering if its a license issue? Was also wondering if it had anything to do the testing hiccup, even though research is suggestion the two are unrelated.
I've described my actions as best as i could (without getting into ridiculous detail) and have included screen-shots of relevant stages of the process. Have a look and tell me your thoughts. Thanks.

The "Sys.Application is null or not an object" issue is known, submitted for a resolution and documented in KB #1528503. Unfortunately the KB search has been down the last couple of days...
However, the issue is limited to compile time and does not affect a completed application.
Re. the viewer missing. Sounds like the viewer directory did not get created or configure correctly. Before I get to that. You mention:
"I proceeded to try to browse to my app from another computer on my network."
This bring up the question: If you run the app right on the app server. e.g.; not a client computer, does the viewer and report come up? Is this issue isolated to client computers on the network?
I suspect that the issue exists irrespective of which computer you try to see the report from - but that is an assumption. If the assumption is correct, see [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50aa68c0-82dd-2b10-42bf-e5502b45cd3a] article on configuring the viewer. The article does not have CR4VS2010 documented, but you should be able to guide your self using the article. I think the pattern will be obvious.

  • Firefox thinks Adobe Flash Player is not installed. It is and works fine with IE. Also fighting Firefox crashes when opening. Running system 7, 64 bit.

Firefox works in Safe mode. Narrowed the issue down to plugins. Don't have an Adobe Flash player plugin, but do have Adobe Acrobat and Windows Live Photo gallery (which I'm considering suspect).

There are two versions of Flash, the ActiveX version for Internet Explorer and the Plugin version for other browsers like Firefox.

I just created a new profile/user on my MacBook Pro. My pointer/mouse on my trackpad. It works fine in my older user profile, but when I go to the new profile my mac will not respond to clicks. The Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap. The problem starts when I log out of my main profile. I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly.  Should I just delete the new profile and try again?

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Firefox will not open and my profile name changes, after I creat a new profile it works until I try to open again

Firefox version 16.0.2 was working I have used FF for years. A few days ago it started to run very slow opening web sites. Then this morning when I tried to open it I saw a progress bar that looked like the kind I see after an update has been applied but FF never opened.
I rebooted my windows 7 64 bit and tried again, nothing FF would not open and I got no error message.
So I opened the profile manager and only found a default profile not the one I created last year with my name. I created a new profile and browsed to my old profile folder. FF opened and ran fine until I closed it and later tried to open it again then I kept getting an error box telling me that FF had crashed and asked if I wanted to send a report and restart, I did but no good it still would not open.
I ran the profile manager again and found my profile had changed name to a bunch of numbers. I delete that profile but kept the folder then made a new one and that worked. I shut it down again and once again I get the We're sorry error box.
By the way I had set the profile manager to open when FF loads and it is not opening so the problem is before it gets to that command.

First I already have my view set to show everything so that is not the problem.
But I just tried opening "Computer" from the start button then type in profiles.ini in the address bar and hit enter. The profile manager opened with my profile listed. I selected it and hit start firefox and it opened as it should.
I closed it again and tried to open it from the shortcut in my task bar and I got the Sorry window.
But then I tried to open it from the short cut you get when you press the start button and program list and it work!
I went back to my desk top and tried the short cut on the desk top and it worked.
So I deleted the short cut on the task bar and created a new one and it worked.
I rebooted the computer and tried again and the task bar shortcut works and has the right profile.
So it seems that the problem is that the short cut was corrupted and was causing the error that caused the program to fail to open.
I had no idea a shortcut could do that. In the past I have had short cut stop working but never do what this one did.
I still have no idea where the profiles.ini is.

AIR give you classes to detect an on-line or off-line status, it's in
this way for the sake of flexibility for instance what happens if you
only what to sync  data only on Saturdays at 2 am? If it were done
automatically that'll be a problem. And it isn't so complicated.
You can download the SalesBuilder from AIR examples at www.adobe.com/devnet/air
it's an application that does everything you have in mind.
I don't understand your question abou file types.
An AIR app can communicate with almost every backend served tech
    CF, .Net, PHP, RoR.

Sorry but I don't quiet understand. I thought AIR did the updating
automatically? I didn't realise the developer had to program the
logic of how the updates take place?  Is it a case in most AIR apps
that when online the app updates the server and once every intervel
(of however long) the local SQLite DB is synced to the more updated
server DB. Then when offline the developer has to sense that the app
is offline and store a log manually of the updates without any help
from AIR itself, and then update once it comes online again?

Can AIR link to anything more than a database on the server side

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox not working, instructed to create a new profile, said it would save old files, restarted firefox, all old files seem to be gone? Can anyone explain?

I was having issues with Firefox opening. I opened my Safari browser to troubleshoot and after looking for solutions to Firefox not opening, I opened the firefox profile manager. The directions instructed me to create a new profile and then delete my old one (and save old files). I did that and then upon restarting firefox all my bookmarks, history, passwords etc. were gone. When I looked at the folders in my profile file, they all had creation dates of only a few minutes prior. Did I lose it all? I followed the instructions, I don't understand where all my information went.

Did you use the Profile Manager or did you use reset to create that new profile?
A reset tries to import some data from the old profile and then moves the profile to the desktop, but if you use the Profile Manager then you need to copy that data yourself to the new profile.
If you've deleted the old profile before making sure that your data has been recovered then you've lost that personal data.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

  • I had to create a new profile in Firefox and now, I can't access important data such as bookmarks which I desperately need.

After two days of not being able to open Firefox, I found an article on this website which suggested that I create a new profile. I followed the instructions (which never stated that I should first backup Firefox or my old profile) After creating the new profile, Firefox is once again working fine but, I am unable to access important data such as bookmarks and history.
I have followed several suggestion on this website but, I am still unable to find my old profile content.

As long as you did not uninstall Firefox and remove personal data, your old profile still should be in the same location. Depending on how messed up it was, here are two options:
'''(1) Use the profile manager to start Firefox up in your old profile and create a fresh bookmarks backup.''' If it didn't run, this won't be useful.
To start in a different profile, Exit out of Firefox and start it up from the Start menu, search box, using
    firefox.exe -P
Your old profile may have a name like default.
Then you can create a fresh backup or export of your bookmarks (or both) to a neutral location (e.g., the Documents folder). These articles have the steps for creating these files:
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]] (note: does not preserve tags you have assigned to bookmarks, if any)
Exit Firefox, use the profile manager to return to your new profile, then you can either restore the bookmark backup or import the HTML file. The difference is that a restore completely replaces whatever exists now, while an import adds to what you have now.
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
    * [[Import Bookmarks from an HTML file]]
    Success?
'''(2) Restore an old bookmark backup.''' Firefox creates these files regularly, but it might not be perfectly complete.
To access the old files, I suggest starting from your current (new) profile folder. You can open that from within Firefox using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window showing your ''current'' settings files. Using the address bar of that window, click up to the Profiles folder level and then double-click into your old profile folder, then into its bookmarkbackups folder. Copy the latest backup file to a neutral location (such as your Documents folder).
Back in Firefox, try to restore the older backup. Note: this will completely replace your bookmarks in this profile, so if you have saved new bookmarks you want to save, please perform the optional steps in the following list:
    * Optional (preserve new bookmarks): [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
    * [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]] - use Choose File to go to your Documents folder to get the old backup
    * Optional (add new bookmarks to the restored set): [[Import Bookmarks from an HTML file]]
    Success?

  • I tried creating a new profile to fix my firefox crash issue as well as reinstalling it, is there anything else I can do to fix it?

When I try to open firefox it immediately crashes and says "Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts." There is no crash ID. I tried to submit a report yesterday, but received no email that it was received. I do not know how long it normally takes for a response. Anyway, I have Windows Vista. I tried reinstalling firefox, which did not work. I followed the steps of creating a new profile and did not try to bring any of my saved settings over to the new profile. Firefox opened, but when I tried to go to comcast.net it immediately closed and came up with the same exact crash error.
