Creating a NICE vignette

Hello all,
I am trying to create a vignette on part of my footage, but whichever way I set it with the vignette filter and however smooth I am trying to make it look, the "border" of the vignette is always quite visible and it's kind of obvious that it has been added in post.
Does anyone know how to create a nice vignette that doesn't look like it's been added on purpose?
Thanks.

Hi(Bonjour)!
Try to set a lower percentage for mix value in vignette in filter tab.

  • Want to create an oval vignette in photoshop elements 10 with transparent background for printing w

I am fairly new to PSE and I want to create an oval vignette in Photoshop Elements 10 with transparent background for printing on white paper using MS Publisher. Using the white background on inverse selection makes a slight line impression and either it should have a defined "frame" or nothing.
    Appreciate any guidance.

Try with the Elliptical marquee tool:
On the tool's option bar set feather 25-40 px (experiment)
Drag out the Ellipse to embrace the object
Go to Layer>new>layer via copy, or CTRL+J
Your selection should fade out as a vignette and be surrounded by transparency
Save this layer via File>save for web, select PNG-24, and tick "Transparency"

  • Create Virtual NICs of a Teamed Interface

    Dear All,
I am building a Hyper-V Failover Cluster.  I have created a team (two physical nics) which I plan to only use for Cluster Communication, Heartbeat and Live Migration.
    I have following questions:
    1.  How to create virtual NICs out of this teamed interface and assign them to respective networks?
    2.  Do Cluster Communication, Heartbeat and Live Migration Networks have to be on different subnet or they can be part of the same subnet as well?
    3.  In both cases that is same subnet or different subnet, how would networks be assigned?
    Thanks in advance.

    2. list them,
    3. unmount any teaming,
    4. list them again and
    5. mount two teaming of 2 NICs
NIC model is Emulex OCl11102-F-X Virtual Fabric Adapter 2-port 10Gb
Please advise if you can help me.
Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

Ok, I have already started looking for something like this.
And could find some interesting posts.
I posted this one trying to have someone helping me creating it or just modifying any that already exists.
Or I'd appreciate any tips, i.e. how to handle the Emulex particularity.
    Thanks anyway!

  • HOW do I create a NICE enlarged image in a window EFFECT? CS5

Maybe a long unnecessary title but I'm not sure how to describe it, and I can't find an example at the moment.
Basically, I would like to create little image thumbnails which when clicked on bring up an enlarged version of the thumbnail. Basic I know, but rather than just having it load up in a pop-up window like you can do with behaviors in Dreamweaver, I would like the enlarged image to appear in a window which expands out from a small rectangle/square to a large rectangle/square (kind of like an animation) and THEN the image appears in this lovely display window.
    How is that done?
Maybe I haven't explained this very well. In the meantime I will have a look and see if I can find an example to better explain what I mean.
    Thank you.
    Ian.

You're looking for a AJAX "Lightbox" style script. These are quite common these days, and started with the original Lightbox JS script. They've since evolved into related projects like Thickbox, FancyBox, Lightbox 2, etc.
Here's a round-up of the different available scripts (plenty more are out there if you Google "lightbox script"):
    http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2007/05/18/30-best-solutions-for-image-galleries-slideshow s-lightboxes/
    The way these work are:
You place a script or two (sometimes your lightbox script and the jQuery JS package) in a folder on your server
You then link these scripts in the head of your document
You add your thumbnails to your page, and link them to the larger images
You then add some type of attribute to each thumbnail, such as a class like "lightbox".
When you click the thumbnail, instead of getting the larger image it triggers the lightbox script. Most all of the scripts have either instructions on setting them up, or a demo where you can view the source code. What I used to do is download the script, which almost always has a demo file in the download package, and open that up in Dreamwevaer to reverse engineer. It's not as complicated as it first looks.

  • Created a nice flyer in Pages, but printed requires CMKY format...help

I have created a flyer in pages and was about to send to the printers when i discovered they insist on CMYK format with 250dpi.
If i export the flyer from Pages to PDF it seems to create an RGB file, which is the wrong format.
does anyone know how i can sort this and get the correct dpi?

Unfortunately OSX's level 1.3 .pdf export does not support transparency, has a 72dpi rasterisation setting and muddles the PDF-X specification.
There is also no bleed, trim box, crops, slugs, spreads, spot colors etc that you normally require.
You can try and edit the ColorSync filter responsible. I have been partially successful at that but not to the 100% solution that would have me at all recommend using it.
This is the "inconvenient truth" of the "platform built for designers" that hasn't been for nearly 10 years now. Apple does not even warn its customers. Its staff and marketing in fact do exactly the opposite and encourage them to believe it is all easy and just works.
All you can do is avoid Apple's "solution".

  • Tool to create a nice navigation bar

    Hello all,
    As mentionned here:
    http://allaboutiweb.com/index.php/2010/11/some-css3-tools-to-help-iweb-users/#co mments
I would like to do: +Well my new menu is CSS3 based. Of course I would love to include more in that menu. Here is my dream menu:+
+Far left: An arrow that point to the previous page+
+Left: Google translate menu integrated to my main menu+
+from left to right: my menu in CSS3 (the one I have is not bad)+
    +Right: A Search box for Google+
    +Further right: My “Tell A Friend” button+
+Far Right: Another arrow to point to the next page.+
+Is it possible? I’m sure it is! Have I find the perfect tool to do it? No not yet! Am I capable of getting it done? Well, may be, not sure on that one.+
+Finally, Tom, thanks for this entry, I might find something I could use to achieve my main Goal in IWeb.+

Anybody knows a good tool (preferably free, but I'm willing to pay a small fee for it)that will allow this?
    Thanks
    Thierry

I may have another issue: Search box from Google. About a month ago my Adsence was cancelled by Google for some obscur reason that I still not fully understand. Well it took my search box with it. If you try the site: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/Home.html you will see the search box on the bottom left, try it with the word "Tiger" well it return a error message. I play with Google search for a while and found another search feature that does not involve Adsence account, it works but I must do the search and get the result on the same page, the Result page for now: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/results.html
Well, let me tell you, I do not like it. If I do not find a way to incorporate this search box in my nav-bar and be able to redirect the results to a different page I'm kind of stuck...
Sorry, just trying to voice my frustration to people that will understand me.
    Thanks for listening

  • Creating a nice text in the custom oaframework page.

    Hi,
I was trying to write some text in the page. The text is in different paragraphs, different fonts and has headings and underlines. So in a page, i tried using different items, regions but couldn't accomplish my requirement.
What is the best approach of doing this?
    Thanks in advance.
    PK

Typically, text font is written per Oracle Standard. They call it the Standard Look and Feel for OAF. You could probably go into your UIX page and make manual updates to the XML code. Give it a try and let me know how it works.

  • I Want to Create a Nice Logo for my website?

    This is my blog:ehowitsdone.blogspot.com
Visit my blog and i have used a temporary logo there named How To?
Please help me make it better, like adding pictures to the logo.
First you need to understand the niche of my blog and then recommend me how i can edit the logo, you know like add a photo of hammer so it gives a realistic look and would make my blog look better and people would be able to understand the purpose of my blog easily.

I don't have a blog, but if I did I think everyone should visit it to see supercalifragilisticexpialidocious design and uber-stupendous-megatastic logos.
No actual content, mind you, but the logo would be good.

  • Creating a vignette in Premiere Pro CC 2014

In another thread, I was criticised for the way I chose to create a frame vignette in Premiere Pro.
I've always created a vignette using the circle effect on a transparent video layer, inverting it and applying a feather.  The result can be made fairly subtle if you choose, and the vignette I use the most looks like this (applied over white video so it can be seen easily):
As someone rightly pointed out, the effect isn't GPU accelerated, and with the arrival of Premiere Pro CC 2014, there's a new way to create a vignette using masks, i.e. create a Black Video layer, under Opacity click the ellipse mask, stretch it out to fill the frame, invert it, apply a feather, etc.
The problem is, I cannot find a set of parameters that create a vignette with this new method that approaches the look I am after.  This appears to be mainly because the mask feather is applied to the entire frame and not just to the circle shape of the mask.  That means you end up with a vignette that looks something like this:
Notice the black blobs in each for the four corners.  Also notice that the feathering is being applied to the vignette from the outside of the frame as well as from the inside, i.e. the black blobs are feathered towards the edges of the frame as well as towards the inside.
Of course, you can crank up the feathering to try to remove the blobs, but then the result is that the centre of the frame is now grey:
I've tried using Mask Expansion to push the blobs further out, but the feathering is still applied to the edges of the frame, so you end up with something like this:
Looking closely at the corners (although it doesn't seem to show up very well once saved as JPEG), the vignette goes from white gradually to grey, then starts to head towards white again.
Does anyone think they can find a set of parameters for this new method that recreates a vignette similar to my original?

Those "edge effects" (where "the vignette goes from white gradually to grey, then starts to head towards white again") are caused by the way that Gaussian Blur handles intersections of the mask with the edge of the media.
So "making the mask larger then the frame" (as suggested by Ann Bens) unfortunately won't work because this causes the "edge" to be inside the mask, which is the problem.
But you CAN make the frame larger than the sequence dimensions, and thus avoid these edge effects altogether by using "Motion : Scale" to scale the media (your Black Video Layer) to (say) double the size of your sequence. Now you can create a mask that doesn't hit the edges of the frame, and thus produces no edge effects, and so feathers smoothly all the way out to the edges of your sequence.

  • NIC teaming creates packet loss (Windows 2008 R2)?

I'm experiencing some packet loss to all of our VMs that we didn't have before we made some changes to our Hyper-V implementation (Windows 2008 R2). Most of the VMs also run 2008 R2 - with 3 that run Server 2003.
The host server is a Dell R610 with three 4 port NICS - two Intel quad port gigabit and a quad port Broadcom.
We us the individual ports of the Broadcom for host management and live migration - no problems here. We use the Intel cards for both iSCSI and VM networks. Calling the two intel cards “A” and “B”, and the ports P1-4 we've used AP1, AP2, BP1, BP2 (ports
1 & 2 of both Intel NICs) for iSCSI connections, and we've created a NIC Team with AP3, AP4, BP3, and BP4 (ports 3 and 4 of both Intel NICs). The team type is "Virtual Machine Load Balancing". We then created a Hyper-V switch based on this team
for use with all of the VMs created on the host. (as a side note: prior to implementing the NIC team, we just had 4 Hyper-V switches, one associated with each of these 4 ports.)
The 4 ports of the NIC team are connected to two different Cisco SG200 switches - AP3 and BP3 are connected to switch1, and AP4 and BP4 are connected to switch2 (in an attempt to maximize redundancy). The two Cisco SG200s are simply connected to the rest
of our network - each to a different switch within the subnet. There is minimal configuration done to the SG200s (for example NO
link aggregation); spanning tree is enable however.
My question is: can the network cables be connected to different switches (as they currently are) and if so is there some configuration piece (either on the switch or within Windows) that I'm missing?
What are the options here if this configuration is incorrect? The packet loss is in the range of 0.1%, but we've had odd spikes where a VM was essentially unavailable for a brief period (a few minutes) then returned to "normal" (0,1% loss).
Pinging a device (like the SG200 itself) or another physical server (for example our domain controller or the hyper-v host itself) results in essentially 0 loss; maybe one or two packets during the course of a 12 hour ping (this was the “normal” ping
response to VMs before we created the NIC team, so I’m quite sure this has something to do with it).
    Thanks in advance!

I believe when utilizing the Virtual Machine Load Balancing the ports must be connected to the same switch, stack, or chassis as the arp for the MAC could move.  I believe, although I could be wrong, that the outages you see is when the machine "moves"
between ports and the arp being updated between the two switches.
I believe you are looking for switch fault tolerance teaming which will allow for the failure of adapter, cabling, or switch which will achieve your goal of maximum redundancy.  This is achieved via spanning tree on the switches, which you indicated
    is already configured.

  • PSE7, creating vignette, where is oval marquee tool?

.I previously used PSE3 for photo edting.  I now have PSE7. I am trying to create a "classic vignette effect" as described in Scott Kelby's PSE3 book, pg 300-301.
purpose of this effect is to  highlight the baby inside an oval with soft edges and blur everything behind the main subject.   While clicking on the marquee tool I find no circle or oval tools, just  squares and rectangles. I need a tool  to draw an oval space around my baby's face.  Under the marquee icon there are sqaures and triangles, no circles or ovals. Could you further direct me in this technique using simple directions?  I appreciate your responses!

Barbara, thanks so much!  That's just what I needed.

  • Why do vignettes ack differently?

I've noticed that the "lens correction" and "post crop" vignettes act differently. I mostly split tone my images, and while the "correction" version makes my sepia go to a nice rich warm tone on its way to a warm black (ie it takes whatever tone is there and makes it darker), the "post" version goes to dark gray on its way to a neutral black (ie it darkens and desaturate). Even if I try each on an original uncropped image. Why the difference?

The graduated filter is only a "shape" away from being able to be used in the manner that people are wanting. If the color and exposure controls that are on the graduated filter could be added to the post crop vignette, that would be perfect for me. Either that or the ability to create my own vignettes using the brush...but unfortunately right now you can't save brush strokes as a preset to easily apply when you want.
So in the meantime, I have made my own vignette presets using the graduated filter...ganging them up around the border of the image. Its not perfect but it gets the images close enough to where I want them with the least amount of effort. Ultimately, I wish adobe would add the same graduated filter controls to the post crop vignette.
