Creating a portable library based on playlists in itunes

I have a very large library which of course brings down the speed of itunes.  My wife is a fitness instructor who makes a few playlists a week, and it thoroughly frustrated.  Is there a way to create a second library that contains music files only from the playlists in her itunes?  This way, she can add music to this second library as she needs it (from the primary via a windows search or purchase from itunes itself), and have a responsive itunes programs.

  • Is it possible for a academic department to create a digital library of movies purchased on iTunes for classroom use?

All faculty will have a iPad in hand by June 20.  I was approached by a teacher asking if there is a way to create a digital movie collection for a department.  For example, if a teacher purchases Hamlet to show his classes, can another teacher use that same account to show Hamlet to her classes?  The movie would be viewed in the "physical" classroom.

Your assumption that instructions will work every time without facing errors is excessive in my opinion. I never observed a daqmx task simply stopping responding to commands: every time it happened, an error condition was raised explaining the misbehaviour.
I would add some error checking where you are manipulating the daq board and look into the informations the error message gives you.

  • How do I duplicate the exact playlists from my iphone 4th gen to my new ipod 4th gen 64gb?  So far I've created a new library for it, duplicated all the apps, books

I'v been using an iphone 4 (16gb) for a year now, and have just got an ipod touch 4gen, 64gb.  I created a new library for this, and most of what I have managed to transfer everything onto the ipod touch.  However, although all my music has transferred, the playlists have not.  Do I have to transfer them manually?  That is, creating every playlist again, which would be a nuisance since I have 48 playlists and almost 250 pieces.  All the music have been bought from itunes.
What I plan to use the ipod for is mainly for books, magazines and itunes U podcasts.  Most other apps and music will be the same on both iphone and ipod.  Both are under my same apple id.  Please help, 'cos I've been searching for an answer on the internet and can't really find one.  Everything else has transferred expect the playlists.

    - Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Is there a way to create a library of playlists in iTunes

I have recently created a number of video playlists and I'm wondering if there is a way of creating a library of these playlists.Secondly is there way of adjusting the brightness of videos without downloading third party software.

Playlists in iTunes are stored in the main database iTunes Library.itl. They don't exist as a separate class of files. You can use File > Library > Export Playlist... to export individual playlists in various formats. These could be imported into another library if all of the required files of the playlist were on the same paths. In general however there is no need to export and reimport playlists to iTunes. Simply Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy so that the entire library, or any individual files, can be restored if needed.

  • After creating a new playlist in iTunes, how can I add my entire music library --at once-- to the new playlist. I want to download all my music from Icloud at once on my Macpro

After creating a new playlist in iTunes, how can I add my entire music library --at once-- to the new playlist. I want to download all my music from Icloud at once on my Macpro

You have two separate questions here...
To get all your music into one playlist, select Music in the sidebar and click the Songs view at the top. Then, highlight all the songs and drag them into your playlist.
I don't know if it's possible to download all Purchased content (or do you mean iTunes Match content?) at once; try a few Google searches.

  • HOW DO I CREATE A 30GB SHUFFLE PLAYLIST FROM ITUNES LIBRARY TO FILL MY IPOD

is it possible to generate a playlist lets call it, that is like a shuffle playlist but able to fill an ipod? where would i find the command like, " fill ipod randomly from itunes library"? wouldn't it be great !! just hook up the pod and have it filled with random songs from your library. every day you could have a new playlist, but a really big and different one.
    g4 power mac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Just create a new Smart playlist.
Limit it to 27.5GB at Random.
Also, set it to My rating is not One Star.
Rate songs you do not want on the iPod to One star.
Connect the iPod & select it as the Source.
Go to the Music tab and set to Sync only this playlist.
To change the music, select this playlist in iTunes.
Select all songs and press Delete. It will fill up again at random.

  • Creating playlist in itunes frome the ipod library?

The title says much what i want to do. Is there a way i can juste take all the songs in my ipod (the songs are still in my itunes library) and put it in a playlist on itunes on my mac? because i'm returning back a new defect ipod and i want to keep the track so i can just easily put them again in my new fonctionnal ipod?

When you connect the iPod, you should see your Summary page... it has a picture of the iPod, next to its name, serial number, software version, capacity, and format. Down towards the bottom of this page is a section entitled Options. Below this there is an option that says "manually manage music and videos." Is this option selected?
If so, iTunes is expecting you to manually click and drag songs to the iPod. If you'd rather iTunes & iPod match, you can uncheck this option, as well as the one that says "enable disk use" and then click Apply. This should make the two match.
If this option is not selected, check to make sure the songs that are not transferring to the iPod play in iTunes.

  • Why is iTunes 11.1 asking me to create a new library every time I open it?

Every time I open iTunes 11.1 I have to load my library file manually...it does not just open automatically.  It asks if I want to create a new library or load a previous library each time I open the application.   I fixed permissions on my hard drive but it does not seem to help.  Also, Safari is acting strange...when I click on a link in a page it downloads the HTML file instead of opening the new link.  Lots of quirky stuff happening!  Had to restore my HD last night from Time Machine...still acting weird.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Problem with ratings-based smart playlists in iOS5.

I use ratings-based smart playlists to organize my music.  For example, a typical smart playlist will include all songs from a given genre rated 3 stars or better.  Playlists work perfectly on PC/iTunes and iPad (and used to work perfectly on iPhone/iPod before iOS5), but on iPhone 4S (iOS5) and iPod touch (iOS5), only the lowest-rated songs show up; higher rated songs omitted from the smart playlist.  However, I also always have a playlist that has the higher ratings.  So the songs are on the iPhone/iPod, but just not in all the correct playlists.  Anyone have help for me?  Thanks.

I'm having the same problem-- my "Smart Playlists" don't seem to update. I created a new smart playlist with a single artist, and nothing comes into it-- so if I make one just for artist=devo, for example, no tracks come through despite their being hundreds.
I also employ smart playlists on my podcasts-- so when plays=1, it disappears from the list. These are not updating, despite my making no changes to them other than upgrading to iTunes 10.
My "recently played" list DOES seem to be updating, and I don't understand why I'm seeing this despite making no changes.

  • How come I can't add a song to my playlists in itunes match? Is it me or itunes match? It keeps on coming up with a message " iCloud playlists can only contain songs from your iCloud music library. If you continue, the playlist will be removed from iCloud

How come I can't add a song to my playlists in itunes match? Is it me or itunes match? It keeps on coming up with a message " iCloud playlists can only contain songs from your iCloud music library. If you continue, the playlist will be removed from iCloud and will only be available on this computer"?
You must surely be able to add and subtract songs on specific playlist?

I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file.   This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings.  Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus.   That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.
Good luck!  The tech support person at Apple is requesting that a knowlege-base article be written about this.

  • Itunes or icolud created a ton of the same playlist and now its on all my devices (iphone, my pc itunes, and i pad) how to i get ride of the efficiently?

While on vacation I tried to create one new playlist, but for some reason my ipad decided to create thousand(s) of the same one, and since I have icloud they created were on my iphone, ipad, and my itunes library on my pc,  now have and so many of the same playlist that I cant even count how many there are, but my best estimate in in the thousands. The worst part is now all of my devices with itunes are running slow, and if I click on the playlist it will run slow, and eventually works but not like it used to.
I've tried deleting them on my iphone or ipad, but to delete one takes about 10-15 seconds and it would take me about a month to do it this way. I tried deleting them from itunes on my PC but it is even worse doing it that way, it just freezes and since the names are all the same I can't even tell if there being deleted.
I have tried selecting more then one of the same playlist in itunes but it doesnt work.
Has anyone else ran into anything like this? I know it might sound kind of minor but I used my playlist all the time and now I'm scared to even click on them because it just starts this long, annoying waiting game.
    Help!

  • How can i create a playlist in iTunes and have the playlist show up on iPhone 5

I painstakingly spent a considerable amout of time creating a playlist in iTunes on Windows, and now when I sync my iPhone, and open the Music app, I do not see the playlist at all.  When I select 'On this device' in iTunes, I can see the playlist listed, but a large number of the songs are greyed out, and do not play in iTunes.  These are simply songs I selected from my iTunes library into an iTunes playlist, and I sync'ed my iPhone saying transfer only selected playlists, etc, and now the playlist does NOT show up on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I have no use for iTunes Match and know little about it - but do you not need a computer in order to subscribe to iTunes Match? From where would the OP upload his music?

  • How to create a new library for my wife's iPod

    Hi all,
I've been trying to get the right answer to this for a long time, but I seem to be continually coming up against very complicated solutions that are too intricate for me to actually try.  I hope someone will have the knowledge (and the patience with me!) to help.
My wife received an iPod as a gift from the Mayor of San Francisco.  It came pre-loaded with a bunch of songs about "The City by the Bay."  It's a Nano, so it doesn't have iOS 5, the iCloud, etc.
    So I have two questions.
    (1) I have my own iPod, iTunes account, and my own laptop.  My wife only has a work laptop so she can't load iTunes onto it (which would make this very simple).
    (2) I would like to be able to create a situation in which:
    (a) She can create her own library on my computer.  Her library would include a lot of music from my library (but not all).  In other words, I want to move some music from my library to her library, both of which are on my laptop.
    (b) She can sync her iPod on my computer.
    (c) She can load all the San Francisco music into "her" library.
Is there a simple way to do this?  I don't want to do the "separate playlists" variation because that's not how I want to run my own library.  I want that to remain as crisp and clean as possible.
In short, probably creating a new User account on my MacBook Pro, is there a way that I can "give" her a few dozens of my LPs, but then have pretty separate syncing experiences?  As I say, I've read a million different treatments of this, and they all seem more complicated than I'm ready to do.
    Thank you!!!!

Or could I just plug her iPod into my computer and "manually manage music"?  What if it's somehow already set to "automatically sync"?  She would lose the music that's already on her iPod, wouldn't she?

  • I use multiple libraries with itunes - should I create a new library for a 2nd iphone

I use multiple iTunes libraries to manage multiple devices from the same PC.  I'm purchasing an iPhone 6 and currently have a library for my iPhone 4.  Would I create a new library for this new device?  Also, to restore all content to my new phone, Will this restore be done from the existing iPhone 4 library?  Is this process documented?

I can't address specific issues regarding iPhones, but in general you can manage multiple iDevices from a single iTunes library.  The test approach is to maintain one or more playlists for each iDevice you use, and configure the latter to sync only from the relevant playlists:
This article: Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device - Apple Support documents Apple's guidance regarding transferring content from one iOS device to another.

  • Creating a new playlist in iTunes 9 - crazy

When I create a new playlist in itunes 9, my song list disappears, and a window replaces it that tells me how to drag songs into the playlist I just created. What??? Even after 20 new playlists created, this window comes up offering tutorials. (100 milion people using iTunes, and we all need a tutorial on dragging songs to a playlist?)
So each time I have to go back and find the song I wanted to drag to the new playlist in the first place.
Anybody know how to turn this annoying behaviour off ? I sent it in as a bug to Apple feedback.

It is irritating and I haven't found a fix. However, if you select a song in your library and use the File > Create New Playlist from Selection, you don't get the window. You new playlist name is already highlighted so you can type a new name for it. And iTunes 9 has fixed the problem with not being able to create a new playlist from selection unless the selection was 2 or more songs. Now you can do it with only one song.
