Creating a restricted key figure in BI7 reporting

Hi
I am creating a restricted key figure globally in BI7 query designer, whenever I try to restrict Calender Year /Month, an error message pops up showing:
Runtime error '457' (This key is already associated with an element of this collection), when I click ok another message opens
Runtime error '429' (Active X component can't create object)
and finally Microsoft VB runtime error
Automation (The callee(servernot server application) is not applicable and disappeared; all connections are invalid. The call may have executed.
I am working in BI 7, SAP gui 640 what could be the problem in BI 7???because the same thing is working in BI 3.5 environment.
Regards
Indraneel

Hi Indraneel,
Try to look for the patch level you are using for SAP GUI, it should be level 14. If lesser than this apply and check. And always disable VB macros.
Assign points if helps.

  • How to Create a Restricted Key Figure in BO Webi Report

    Hi Experts,
Please tell me How to Create a Restricted Key Figure in BO Webi Report.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Rafi

    Hi,
    1. Define a new measure in the designer.
    2. In the select clause give the reference to the key figure on which restriction to be applied.
    For example
    @Select(Key Figures\Number of Records)
    3. In the where clause, give the MDX expression for the filter to be applied.
    For example
    <FILTER KEY="[0PURCH_ORG].[LEVEL01]">
    <CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="InList">
    <CONSTANT CAPTION="HAS"/>
    </CONDITION>
    </FILTER>

  • Steps to create a Restricted Key Figure

    Hi,
I am trying to create a  BEx Query and want to create a Restricted Key Figure.
    I am using BEx 7.x.
Please help me with steps to create a Restricted Key FIgure.
    Thnaks and Regards,
    Shreyas Shah

    Hi Shreyas,
Please find the step by step to create a restricted key figures.
Procedure for Defining a new restricted key figure:
    1. In the InfoProvider screen area, select the Key Figures entry and choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
If a restricted key figure has already been defined for this InfoProvider, you can also select the Restricted Key Figures entry and then choose New Restricted Key Figure from the context menu.
The entry New Restricted Key Figure is inserted and the properties for the restricted key figure are displayed in the Properties screen area.
    2. Select the New Restricted Key Figure entry and choose Edit from the context menu (secondary mouse button).
The Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box appears.
You can also call the Change Restricted Key Figure dialog box from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.
You make the basic settings on the General tab page.
The text field, in which you can enter a description of the restricted key figure, is found in the upper part of the screen.
You can use text variables in the description (see Using Text Variables).
Next to that, you can enter a technical name in the Technical Name field.
Underneath the text field, to the left of the Detail View area, the directory of all objects available in the InfoProvider is displayed. The empty field for defining the restricted key figure (Details of the Selection) is on the right-hand side of the screen.
    3. Using drag and drop, choose a key figure from the InfoProvider and restrict it by selecting one or more characteristic values. See Restricting Characteristics.
You can also use variables instead of characteristic values. However, note that you cannot use the following variable types in restricted key figures for technical reasons:
Variables with the process type Replacement with Query (see also Replacement Path: Replacement with Querys)
Variables that represent a precalculated value set (see also Details)
You can use these variable types to restrict characteristics in the rows, columns, or in the filter.
    4. Make any necessary settings for the properties of the restricted key figure on the other tab pages. See Selection/Formula Propertiess.
    5. Choose OK. The new restricted key figure is defined for the InfoProvider.
Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks
    Sachin

  • How to create Calculated/Restricted Key Figures in AO

    All,
In our project we are consuming Bex Queries for AO Analysis. In these  we have lot of calculated/restricted key figures. In bex we can restrict 2 characterstics to one Keyfigure, So can we able to create calculated/restricted KF in AO
    Regards,
    John

    Hello Tammy,
We are having a reqauirement in which we have 5 Bex queries built on the same infoporvider and we are trying to consolidate all the 5 queries to one single generic Bex query or two. So in AO we would like to consume this query and build different AO workbooks to meet all the old 5 queries requirement.
So as part of this process, I would like to know can we create calculate/restricted KF's in AO , that way i can make a better decision to create them in Bex VS AO.
Thanks for your inputs in advance.
    Regards,
    John

  • Restricted Key Figure in Crystal Reports

Hi Gurus, I have to implement the Restricted Key figure logic in Crystal reports. I am able to filter the data at a report level but I need to filter the key figure with a particular characteristics. We try to implement this logic with subreport but client is forcing us not to use subreports. Please help me.

    Hi,
you should make the restricted keyfigure as part of the BW query and Crystal Reports will leverage it.

  • Create restricted key figure with navigation attributes

    Hi,
I need to create a restricted key figure using attributes of 0BP_COMPET.
    On my report is :
    Competitors (0BP_COMPET)
    Quantity
Active Competitors = Expiry Date of Minority Status greater than or equal to system date
Inactive Competitors = Expiry Date of Minority Status less than to system date
Note : Expiry Date of Minority Status is a navigation attribute of 0BP_COMPET and system date is generate by variable 0DAT - Current Calendar Day (SAP Exit).
How can i apply the formula?

  • Creating Restricted Key Figure

    Hello all,
When creating a Restricted Key figure do we need to drag and drop both the key figure and also the characteristic?

If you are creating a Restricted key figure by right clicking on the 'Key figures' section in the Infoprovider panel to the left in Query designer then you need to explicitly drag both key figure and then all the characteristics on which you want to restrict this keyfigure.
On the other hand if you are restricting a existing key figure in the Columns section,  then you just need to drag the characteristics.

  • Building a new Cube Vs Restricted Key figure in Query - Performance issue

    Hi,
I have a requirement to create  a OPEX restricted key figure in Query. The problem is that the key figure should be restricted to about 30 GL Accounts and almost 300 Cost centers.
I do not know if this might cause performance issue in the query. At the moment, I am thinking of creating a new OPEX cube and load only those 30 GL Accounts, 300 cost  centers and Amount. and  include OPEX  in multiprovider in order to get OPEX
    amount in the report.
whats the best solution - creating OPEX restricted key figure or OPEX cube ?
    thanks,
    Bhat

I think you should go for cube as all the restrcited key figure are calculated at OLAP runtime so it will definitely affect the query performance. There are a lot of costcenter for which you have to restrict it so definitely during the runtime of query it will take a lot of time to fetch tha data from infoprovider. Its better that you create a cube with the restrictions and include it in MP.It will definitely save a lot of time during query execution

  • Restricted Key Figure Column heading text missing

    Hello,
I created a restricted Key Figure in a BEX report and dragged this RKF into the columns tab. when i execute the report , the column header text for the restricted key figure is missing. The values are fine, but the header column text  for that KF is missing. any help?
    Thanks
    justin

    Hi Justine...
I think u r doing something wrong..........Either u can create Global Restricted Key(Infoprovider level) or Local restricted ket figure(Query level)..........If u create Global........then  in the left pane............Right click on the Keyfigure >> New restricted Key figure...........to create in the Query level..........In the context menu>> choose Edit........... or select the heading of the Rows or Columns directory
and use the right mouse button to choose New Structure..........In both the cases....there is a Description Field........u hav to write the description there............U can change the technical name also.........then save it........
May be it is a temporary bug............just come out the query..and again reopen it......

I am involved in developing a Restricted Key Figure.....which included a key Figure (Counter) and Resctriction on a CHAR of Data Type DATS.
In the Restriction i want to include all the records that are not assigned any date
When i include # in my restriction it is not working..please advise on how shall i proceed
    Thanks

    Hi,
    create new Restricted key figure.
in Restricted key figure, drag key figure Counter and drag date on which you want to restrict and right click on date and select
'#' value and save Restricted Key Figure and drag that keyfigure into columns. and execute report.
check the data in the cube / DSO with  the given selections date has ' # ' values and data should be available in report as well.

  • Displaying Restricted Key Figure Based on Fiscal Year

I'll try and explain my problem.
We have created a query using the CCA cube. We created 3 restricted key figures each with a different budget plan version. They are called 'AB' ,'PB' and 'RB'. When the user runs the query it will show planned values out for 5 years. So for example right now we are in Fiscal year 2006.
The problem is that 'AB' is only valid for year 2006, 'RB' may only me valid for 2007 and 'RB' may only be valid for 2008 - 2010. They use a different plan version for different years, If I place all three columns on the report I get zeros when the plans are not valid. Here is what I would like: When the fiscal year changes somehow select the correct restricted key figure to show and also adjust the text to reflect the fiscal year.
Its like my variables are dependent on the fiscal year displayed.
    Any help would be great.
    Rick

    Hi Richard,
Have you tried out the Suppressing Zeros options in query properties...if the whole column is blank for a particular year, you should be able to suppress it. Click here for more info:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1e/99ea3bd7896f58e10000000a11402f/content.htm
You can use text variables in the RKF description to reflect the year for which the data is being displayed.
    Hope this helps...

  • Restricted Key figure - Displaying as normal number instead of currency

    Hello,
I'm creating a restricted key figure using 0AMOUNT which of course is currency, however in the cube that I'm using 0AMOUNT is used for both Dollars and Quantities.  The problem is 1) it is always displaying a $ symbol in front of the key figure and 2) it seems when I try to create a calculated key figure and try to add the 0AMOUNT to another 0QUANTITY infoObject I get an error (I'm presumming because I'm trying to add a number to a currency infoObject).
So my question(s) are 1) Can I format my new restricted key figure to always display as Quantity even though it's a currency info object
and 2) Can I do a calculated key figure adding a Currency InfoObject to a Quantity infoObject?
    Thank you very much!
    -Patrick

    1) For your first question, u don't to have the currency dollar displayed for the restricted 0amount instead you want the unit of quanity.?if you want to do this, you could make use of Excel's format options i.e go to
format-->.Style->Select the stdBexInput item and make the appropriate settings.
    2) You can use NODIM() function to add two different keyfigures.

  • Currency Translation Key for Restricted Key Figure

    Hello Everyone,
I created a Restricted Key Figure and want to assign a currency translation key and the field is greye out.
How do you assign a currency translation to a restricted key figure?
    Thanks so much,

    Hi Colleen,
Did you first assign the Currency COnversion Key (box on left). Then the Target Currency box will be enabled.

  • Currency Translation for Restricted Key figure

We are in BI Content 351 and SP6. In the query, I create a restricted key figure for an amount KF, assign a currency translation using a conversion key and target currency, give a technical name and save. Everything is fine. However, when I drag the RKF to query column, the currency translation disappears. Has any one seen this before? Any pointers will be appreciated

  • Restricted key figure as a selection screen

    hi
in my fs they gave selection screen and restricted key figures are same things?
can i use this restricted kf as a selection also?

    Hi,
If u are talking about 'selection' vs 'restricted key figure: -
Restricted key figure is the selection that u create globally and are avaible for all queries which are built on the multiporvider on which u created your restricted key figure.
when u right click in ur query desinger row or column and create a 'new selection'  that also basically is a restricted key figure -b ut available only locally within that particular query.
whereas the globally created RKF will be available to all queries on that info provider.
And 'selection screen' will show all variables u have set as 'ready for input' . it will ask for user to enter the value when query is executed.
    hope it helps
