Creating a "ribbon" style menu with Muse?

Is it possible to do a scrolling thumbnail "ribbon" in Muse? I'm trying to achieve the effect of having a small window that has several thumbnails in it that the user can scroll through to change the target. If not, how do we get that as a requested feature for Muse? It would be insanely useful, and I know a lot of other users would want to use something similar.

Hi Julia,
I understand that I can tooltip over them, but what I'm looking for is something that will allow me to do something like this example on the main page for Lionsgate.com. The functionality I want is to be able to present the player with a menu of thumbnail buttons which will change a main display, very much like what you illustrated above. What is different, however, is that I want the user to be able to SCROLL a list of thumbnails which are contained within a menu window. In this way, if I wanted to have links to twenty or fifty or a hundred buttons/thumbnails, I can present the player with only a few at a time without completely cluttering the interface. They can use arrow keys to scroll up or down through the available thumbnails. It's a very common interface, and Apple uses the ribbon idea as part of their main interface.
Long story short, is it possible to replicate this with existing Muse widgets, or does someone know of a not-too crazy way to do this?
Thanks,
Neal

    Is there a way to create a drop down menu with an automatic answer dependent on what is chosen? An if-then statement perhaps?  I am looking to add over 100 drop down options and would like to have a message automatically pop up depending one which option they chose.  Thank you.

    Hi,
    You would use the skip logic to conditionally show form items based on the selection within the drop-down menu. Here's a link to a description of the feature in our help documentation:

  • Can you create a custom dvd menu with Premiere Elements 12?

    I am giving this software a trial before deciding whether to buy. Is it possible to create your own custom DVD menu? I understand that you can "download" a template and customize it to some extent. But the customizing does not seem to allow you to delete or add elements, like graphics or menu buttons. I want to be able to delete graphics/menu buttons I don't want, as well as add or subtract buttons as I need for each project. Or, I would like to create a menu from scratch.
    Is either method possible in Premiere Elements? Thank you for any assistance.

    Thanks for the reply.
    You can go with a one main menu set up and use main menu buttons. But, note that there are typically far less buttons on the main menu than on the scene menu. One maneuver is to switch the main menu with the scene menu to gain a buttons per page advantage. That is done by reversing the file names of the main menu .psd and scene menu .psd.
    At the editing of the .psd level, there is also the choice to add more buttons per page to a scene menu and create text or thumbnail scene buttons.
    One of the principles to keep in mind...no one movie in a multi movie Timeline can have its own Scene Menu page.
    Of concern....you should have more flexibility than
    In any case, I have discovered that I can edit the templates and then bring them into my project. So long as I save them as the same name, Adobe Premiere Elements doesn't realize that anything has changed.
    Are you following any one of my blog posts. If so, please let me know which one so I can focus in where you may be overlooking some detail. It is best to work with copies of the original and place them in appropriate folders in the directory structure. In doing that I give the user created menu a new name to distinguish it from the original.
    And, in versions 11 and 12,  I do not like to save user modified menus in the Online Folder. I prefer the location where the disc menu installed with the program is located. See blog posts.
    If your customization does not require the opening of Layer Sets in the Layers Palette of the .psd file (happens under certain plans), Photoshop Elements can do the .psd edit job for you, and you do not have to go to Photoshop CS or higher. There are Photoshop actions that might be used in Photoshop Elements to open Photoshop Layer Sets (as found in the disc menu .psd files), but I will not get into that right now.
    Please review and consider. And, then we can go into more details.
    Thanks.

  • Create clickable and scrollable timeline with muse?

    Sometimes I see these amazing timelines on websites.
    This is an example:

    Does this mean that it is not clear how to do this, or is this impossible to do?

  • How do I create a vertical side menu with its own styling separate from the horizontal bar above it?

    Hello.  I need assistance in styling my side menu.  I would like for it to  have a different style than the horizontal bar that is above it.  I would like that the side menu have a black background and with white text vertically aligned to the left.  But I would also like that the mouse's arrow to turn into a hand when it touches the letters instead of during the entire width of the background.  When I began styling the text, everything aligned fine until I added the links in html code.  When I added the <a> tag and created a link to another page, the text goes from the left to the center of the black box.  And the entire width is a link rather than just the words.  To correct this, I tried renaming the div tag containg the menu.  I tried renaming the ul tag.  And I tried renaming the li tag and changing the declarations.  None of these ideas worked.  I thought about changing the <a> tag in the head of the document, but that didn't change the styling either.  I also tried creating the black background by inserting a black box as a background image with the links over top of the image.  It didn't work.  I would appreciate your assistance.   I will supply the coding if anyone is interested in looking at it.  Thank you.
    Nora.

    I can post a link to the page.  But I will need to upload it.  It will take a day to show.  But after I wrote to you.  I began working with creating additional a:link styles.  I was able to create a shortened clickable area of one the words in the vertical menu.  Your advice reinforced what I have learned.  The following code shows that I started to make different styles of the a:link for each word on the vertical menu.  I think that this will work.  To indicate the different a:link style I used bold letters .  Thank you very much.

  • Is it possible to create a pop-up menu with sub-headings

    I am trying to setup a pop-up menu in Number that would give me the ability to first create subheadings, that I can then enter my selection list in.
    Example:
    Subheading 1
         eg 1
         eg 2
         eg 3
    Subheading 2
         eg 1
         eg 2
         eg 3
    Subheading 3
         eg 1
         eg 2
         eg 3
    I did try to search for a solution to this, but nothing came up that I recognized quickly.  So, I'm hopeful that someone out there in the Apple community has a quick work-around for acomplishing this.
    Thanks,

    Strictly speaking this i not possible.  You could precede each entry that is indented with a space to make the menu appead to have sub entries.

  • Creating two-level dvd menu with Elements 9

    Hi,
    I am trying to burn a DVD (and later on Blu-Ray) using PRE 9. I can burn using a provided menu-template.
    However, I would like to create a two (or multi) level menu for the disk. I would like to make the menu
    look like this:
    Play all
    Year 1
    Scene 1A
    Scene 1B
    Main Menu
    Year 2
    Scene 2A
    Scene 2B
    Main Menu
    Year 3
    I would like to burn DVD and Blu-ray disks with such menus.
    How can I create such menus using Premier Element 9?
    Thanks!

    I am not clear on what you mean by a "two level DVD menu".
    Premiere Elements disc menus come as a set of main menu and scene menus. But, it is possible to have the menu situation present with one main menu.
    Apparently you want to have a Timeline of multiple movies, have the viewer select the one to watch first, and then, at the end of the movie selected, have the viewer taken back to the main menu. That all can be accomplished for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc with the placement of stop marker at the end of each Timeline movie (except the last one). Each movie could have a scene marker at its beginning which will trace to a scene button in the scene selection page. But, there is a sacrifice in doing this. This scenario does not permit for a functional "Play All".
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/09/pe-dvd-menu-navigationplay-all-loss.html
    In addition, the above is not applicable to AVCHD format on DVD disc or Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc (with stop markers) because the players for those discs do not support stop markers.
    Please review the above and then we can discuss the matter further.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    A lot of the information you need is in Adobe's scripting guide http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_scriptingReference  Also there is a very useful Adobe guide to Calculations and Scripts (and while it is for version 6 it is still very good because of the way it is laid out) http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/tips/CalcScripts.pdf
    The Javascript could be used in the Layout: Ready event.
    For italic font:
    if (...some test...)
         this.font.posture = "italic";

         this.font.posture = "normal";
    For bold font:
    if (...some test...)
         this.font.weight = "bold";

One will be background layer, the other grayscale overlays to map colors (these examples should start you off I think)

  • Creating a DVD Style menu but to play on a media player?

    Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but guessing it's the right crowd to ask This may be a really dumb question, I've done a quick search online but struggling for a solution/direction?
    Task:
    1. I need to create a menu system to play on a media player connected to a HD TV. As it's likely more reliable, less time consuming to make and more portable than DVD (including the player itself).
    2. So, I still need to be able to have a menu/chapter system to access the media I have created. Basically, same as a DVD but playing a file on a Media Player connected via HDMI to any widescreen HD TV.
    I have seen a cheap media player that plays a broad range of files like TS files etc, so know accessing some ripped DVD's menus using the media player's remote maybe possible? But I want to create everything from scratch. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Notes:
    a. I'm creating projects in Final Cut Pro x/Motion and can use Encore (now that DVD Studio Pro is dead). I have Compressor too.
    b. I'm not too clued up about compression, but I ideally want to export out of FCPX in the best quality and does it then matter about PAL/NTSC, can I keep everything better quality if I'm not having to compress it to author it to DVD.
    It seems like a weird void area because DVD is slowly dying, whilst I have the need to continue having that same experince of the cool menu/chapter system? Hmm! Hope that makes sense? Long Day!

    Thanks so much for your reply! Yea, this is what I've researched so far, but I'm looking to try not compress to MPEG2. Smaller text looks pixelated when saving to DVD.
    I noticed that Encore outputs BlueRay and can save out as a folder, but not sure how this works from the standpoint of how the media player would treat it?
    I'm really surprised I can't find any articles or workflows relating to different ways of doing this? Guess I'll have to go it alone and report back if nobody has attempted this?
