Creating a separate Itunes Account when one already exists

Please help!
My wife and I have sharated a MacBook for the past 4.5 years.  At that time, we have always shared an Itunes account.  Recently, we both have new Iphones and decided to make two different accounts for us.  This has caused many problems.  On my MacBook we have two computer accounts.  We have two seperate Itunes accounts as well.  This is worked out fine... until we recetly bought an IMAC.  Everything that I have purchased on my personal Itunes account has transfered to the IMAC through the home sharing.  Whenever I go to plug in my Iphone or IPAD the IMAC asks me to delete and sink the IMAC stuff instead of doing a transfer.  The apps and songs that are on my IPod and IPad were purchased on my wifes Itunes account.  I want them on my account.  Also, this wont transer to my account when I plug them into the computer.  Is there a way to get this stuff onto my account on the IMac?

You have to creAte 2 separate accounts and to get the music over you have to use an old I pod with lots of memory space then take music into iPod then log into the Luther account and import music!

  • How do I create a new iTunes account when I already have a dysfunctional iTunes account that Apple can't seem to bother fixing?

Apple has no idea how bad their I.D. system is because they have an auto response set up that means they can stay totally uninformed about it unless you are willing to pay $59 for a one-time help service call.  I only want to load up my $25 iTunes Gift Card, and to pay $59 for this is not an option for me.  The problem is when I try to change my password, the email notification goes to another email address, not the email address I filed with Apple when I opened my account and there is nothing in my account setup that allows me to change this.  Apple apparently does not want me to purchase or use an iTunes Gift Card, because I won't use it until Apple fixes this problem they have with their system and everytime I try to get support I get an auto response that is of no help at all; the account password change notification still goes to an email address that is not mine.

I have experienced the exact same problem. There is no good solution to these poorly designed and overly complex login protocols. After unsuccessfully trying to retrieve my password or change my password  I finally set up a new email account, a new Apple ID and a new iTunes account.
I know it is not a good solution, but it worked.

An account means an iTunes Store account which is an online service.  Do you mean that, or do you mean a library on a computer?
iOS devices can only be synced to one iTunes library at a time.  You can sync that iPod to your account but it will wipe everything currently on it.
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201253 - detailed example: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18860187#18860187
If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202
I could post another 2 pages of stuff trying to cover every possible scenario.  It would help if you let us know exactly what you want to do.  Are you trying to sync just a few songs (like giving them to a friend which is something iTunes is deliberately set up not to do)?

  • HT1660 How can I maintain two separate itunes accounts on one single device without erasing either set of data?

How can I maintain two separate itunes accounts on one single device (iPhone 4) without erasing either set of data when syncing with itunes?

    Hi,
Depends on what you trying to setup but for purchases, you can roll down at the very end of the iTunes/AppStore pages to logout of your current account and then login into a different one.  Then your purchase will be billded to this new account.  Everything will sync as you used to but in order to use the purchased content in iTunes or other devices, you will need to authorize them (you can have up to 5 devices authorized for an account).

  • Hi, Can anyone tell me if you can have two separate itunes accounts on one laptop?

Hi, Can anyone tell me if you can have two separate itunes accounts on one laptop? If so can you please let me know how I set this up. I already have my itunes account loaded on and have another on a separate hardrive that I want to be able to use on the same laptop. many thanks.

Are you meaning 2 different accounts or 2 different libraries?
Launch iTunes with the 'Option' key held down and follow the dialog as to which library you want to open.

  • How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone? Can this be done?

How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
    Kindest Regards,

You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

Can I create a 2nd iTunes account on one PC that caters for two seperate devices for different people?

For what reason would you do that?
Simply connect the device, select the content desired to sync and sync.
iTunes remembers the sync profile per device.

We have one family PC running Windows XP and two kids who want totally separate iTunes accounts. (I guess there's no common ground between Metal and R&B.) Can anyone help an old dad pretend he's a computer-literate genius in the eyes of his teens? Thank you in advance.

  • Is it possible to run two separate iTunes accounts on one ipad2?

Okay, here's the deal.  I have one Ipad 2 that is shared between work and family.  I have a work account for itunes but I would like to use a separte account to make my own purchases.  Is it possible?

Yes, it is. As a matter of fact, you can use as many account as you want.
First, you have to create your own iTunes account. You can do so on your computer or on your iPad.
On the iPad, go to the settings > Store > tap on your Apple ID > log out > connect > Create a new account
    Now you can use both.
To switch between accounts on your iPad, go to the settings > Store > Sign in / sign out
Then you can make your personal and professional purchases on the AppStore or iTunes Store.

    I would not recommend it.
Any reason you want two accounts?

  • How to separate iTunes accounts on one Apple ID

When my wife and son each bought an iPhone 5, I put my Apple ID account on their phones so they could purchase apps. At that time I just had a plain ol' dumb phone.
Last November I purchased an iPhone 5S to use on my company's account. Of course, I used my Apple ID account to purchase apps.
Just for clarity, their phones are on Verizon and mine is on ATT.
This caused various issues so I created Apple IDs for each of them, although I don't know if my son has ever logged in with it.
My wife took her phone to Verizon to try and get help and was told that we need to disassociate their phones with my iTunes account. He admitted, though, that he's not an iPhone expert and suggested we call Apple.
I'm guessing someone has dealt with issue and may be able to

    You're welcome.
That means the same shared Apple ID is being used by iMessage on their devices. You can have a different Apple ID used for the iTunes and App Store and one for iMessage and FaceTime. You are seeing iMessages only which is by design when using the same Apple ID for iMessage on multiple iOS devices and Apple computers, not all text messages as in SMS/MMS.
They can log out of iMessage with the shared Apple ID at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select the Apple ID and at the menui window that appears, select Sign Out. They sign back in with their Apple ID to register their cell phone number with their Apple ID email address. The same with FaceTime on each device.
