Creating a simple score for a short video piece?

It is not clear to me how to create music in Soundtrack Pro 2, or even if Soundtrack Pro is capable of doing this. (Is there documentation about this? If so, I have failed to find it.)
As a result, I decided to switch to GarageBand and use the provided Final Cut Pro content. Unfortunately, each time GarageBand attempts to access an apple loop from the Final Cut Studio content, I recieve an error "The audio file "filename.caf" has a 0 bit format and can't be used."
Counterpoint to this, all of the GarageBand content is hi-lighted in red and inaccessible. Is this normal?
Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

That is, you're going the Browser (in the lower right corner of the interface) in STP and navigating to the Apple Loops for Garageband folder (which on my system is Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand) and you're not able to import files?
Not necessarily related, but switch over to the Search tab and click Setup... and make sure that the above folder for the Garageband Loops is being indexed. If it is, you should be able to access GB loops when searching.

i follow the instruction exactly as stated in the tutorial
and test the fla file, it worked perfectly well when i open the swf
using the macromedia flash 8. Everything look fine. Nothing is
changed except the url is changed to "rtmp://localhost/videosource"
in the xml file.
after i publish the file using the setting: access network
only, i try to open the swf and html file from the folder, the
thumbnail did not appear and there is no way i can click on any
videos. What i see is only the list, and there is no response from
the flash media server 2. All the files is in the same folder.
Anyone please help with this problem???? thanks

The Flash authoring environment is a trusted environment and
so you really
need to test in the actual deployment mode which loading an
swf from the
hard drive is not a valid deployment unless an installed
Flash player is
available outside the web browser which you would have as you
have the
authoring tool and your users will not.
Use a browser with
http://yourdomain.com/yourmovie.html
to do final
debugging.
In this regard you may need to debug the movie while running
in real time
mode in a web browser with
http:// A technique to trace I suggested is to
create a temporary TextField perhaps named out_txt and send
trace message to
it such as out_txt.text += "My Trace Expression".

Creating a Dynamic Playlist for Streaming Flash Video

Hello,
I have been trying the tutorial given by Lisa Larson in order
to create a dynamic playlist for streaming Flash video files. I
have realized some of the FLV files that I have downloaded from
internet don’t show in the thumbPlayList and cannot be
played. But once I convert them back to WMV and the use the Flash 8
Video Decoder to convert them to FLV file everything works fine.
Any idea or suggestion why there is such a problem?

I just finished reading the Creating a Dynamic Playlist for
Progressive Flash Video (

tutorial, and it gives a pretty good overview, however I would like
to be able to add the ability to stop and start the video as well,
and the tutorial doesn't really explain how the embedded video
works. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished, or at least
know where I can find information on how to do this.

Create a simple quiz for Muse?

I've discovered how to create a simple quiz with Flash and import this into Muse. It works well enough, although I need to recolour the stage (background) of .swf when on my Muse page.
The quiz has multiple choice radio button, a timer, a running and final total. Works fine as an interactive Flash file, put I know it will have limitations.
If I want to create an alternate layout for tablet, I suppose the .swf won't play in iOS. I've used the CreateJS toolbox within Flash, but the result when Published (in Flash) plays in the browser immediately from the first to last frame, even though there is a stop on frame 1. Also, I wouldn't know how to import this code into Muse. I've tried opening the .js file in Dreamweaver and copying and pasting the code into Muse, but this just copies the text and has no functionality.
I've also considered Adobe Captivate as a means to creating a simple e-Learning site.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am also searching for a way to make a quiz and place it on a muse website.
I am thinking about using the form functionality to create a simple test. Also maybe creating a something in edge.

Trouble with Creating a Dynamic Playlist for Progressive Flash Video

Hey There,
I have been working on building a flash video player and are
trying to incorporate the Dynamic Playlist for Progressive Flash
Video. Everyting is working expect the thumbs are not appearing.
Instead, on each row of the list it says " type function". The list
is populated with data b/c i can navigate it and select a video to
watch, just the thumbs are missin.
Any ideas how I can get my jpg thumbs to appear?

Simple editor for Apple TV video?

I'm looking for something simple for editing video for the Apple TV, just to chop off the ends and some interior segments (eliminate commercials). The editor that's part of Eye TV works very well for this, I can control on a frame level where the cuts are made, then export to Apple TV. But I've been having trouble finding a similar solution for other video and there seems no way to get non-Eye TV recorded video into Eye TV that I can figure out.
I've tried iMovie 08 and iMovie HD, ugh. I don't want a project that takes hours to process on import from H.264. I've tried MPEG Streamclip and it doesn't seem to give me the fine-grained control I'm looking for. Maybe QuickTime Pro? Anyone have any other suggestions? I guess I'm looking for something that's got simple splicing/cutting, not the more elaborate stuff iMovie does. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think QTPro would be an option as even with the MPEG2 plugin I don't think you can edit muxed audio/video and you just end up with a silent video. May work for other formats though.
Part of the problem is likely to be the fact that most compressed formats do not store every individual frame, but store key frames and 'delta' data indicating the change from the key frames. Many editors snap to the key frames when editing which doesn't give you that perfect control. I've got the EyeTV software but never really edited with it.
There was Windows software by a company called Womble that allowed single frame MPEG editing; I suspect there's a Mac solution I'm not aware of.
Might be worth saying which formats specifically you're trying to edit apart from those EyeTV recordings.

I'm not exactly sure where this question should go so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place. At this point in the class we are learning about if/else statements. The text provided was written by a collaboration of the teachers. In the course material
for the if/else part they show us examples using numbers. Then the course also shows us a video to help us better understand (it doesn't. I'm not the only student having problems on the online course.) by giving us an example using bool to show if a statement
is true. Now our actual assignment is what is confusing me and other students. The assignment is to create a program that asks a question such as "Is this class hard?" and it should have three different responses depending on what you type in. If
you type "yes" it would respond "Oh no! I'm sorry you're having problems!" if you type "no" it would respond "Glad to hear!" if you type something random it would say "I'm sorry. I didn't understand. Please respond
with either "yes" or "no"." I'm not exactly sure how we were supposed to know how to do that from the course material provided and it's stressing me and other students out. Any and all help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your folder having administration rights.
some folders property is read only... so check by right clicking on the folder and the properties.

Best format for emailing short videos

I want to email short edited videos of the kiddo to family and friends but I want it to be the best quality possible to send in email format. I'm in the process of testing different formats to export to but thought I'd ask for tips.
Also, should I not necessarily be looking for the format to come directly from my FCE export or should I be compressing it in some way. I have MPEG Streamclip but am not familiar with Compressor.
Whatever advice you have is much appreciated.

Hey, UTube seems like the best bet, but it sure takes time. Yahoo email has a 10mg limit. That ain't much video. But look, I was on Limewire the other day and I haven't really returned to check this out, but it seems to me Limewire is into peer to peer file sharing in more ways than music. It caught my attention because I have been looking into distribution of video press releases to television stations and not too keen on the traditional ftp route -- too many steps. If I could simply send out an email with a Limewire "search for" title, I might be in...I wonder? Anyone on this?

Anyway, you would need to know when the movie has finished playing.
On a Flash Media server, there should be an event just for that.
If you are not running on such a kind of server, make yourself a cuepoint to listen to, at the very last frame of the movie, so your app knows when its time to offer the replay functionality. You can insert cuepoints in a movie when you are in the Flash Video Encoder options.

Creating a custom player for live streaming video

I have live streaming video set up where I use the Flash Media Encoder to send the live stream to a Flash Media Server. Then, the Flash Media server packages this stream, and sends it to whatever websites requests it via the url. I know how to create a Flash move or even asc file, and then have Flash generate the html for that saved movie so that I can embed it in a web page and play it. But in the case of live streaming video, there is no pre made asc file or movie to reference. So I need some help about what I need to do to play live streaming video in a flash player embedded in a webpage, that will also have some custom action script for controlling playback and other things.

About a half-hour after making the changes I outlined above, and long after I closed the active Safari window, noticed that my MBP was uncharacteristically hot. Extremely hot!
Opened Activity Monitor and saw that Flash Player was still running (?) and using a tremendous amount of system resources. I then quit Safari altogether. Within moments, the heat began to subside.
May be something you want to keep an eye on...

Creating a simple Template for multiple images

I work for an online company, and we deal with displaying multiple images on our site. I've been just cropping sets and just droping them in a file and organizing them that way, but I was wondering if there is a faster way of doing this in Photoshop with Templates maybe? but it needs to be easier and faster than the process I'm using now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't comprehend what your doing now. Photoshop is not a file editor however it can create files that have more then one image. Perhaps you could describe what you want to do. What is a set, what is in the set, how many images in a set is that number always the same how do you want to crop do you have some layout in mind some size requirement?

Hi, Can someone please give me steps to create a formula for 2 KF or redirect me. Do I need to create a formula variable? I just need to add KF1 + KF2. I RClicked on KF structure in columns and i can see only structure elements and formula variable. I don't see my KF. I am in netweaver 2004s.

No it isn't new in Netweaver 7.0.
Left hand side - > Keyfigures - > Calculated Keyfigures - > Right Click - " CKF "
You shud see keyfigures existing on the Infoprovider & other RKF's , CKF's existing on the query under "Available Operands "
When u create a formula ( which is local ) u may not see the keyfigures which doesnot exist in columns - u shud hav the keyfigures in the Columns to use them in the formula - u can use in the formula & to avoid them on the report jst hide em.

Easy way to create DVDs from several hrs of short video clips frm digicams?

Didn't know which group to post this to. It's a 'consumer' need but I need expert insights. I have several years of video clips in iPhoto, taken on consumer digicams and iPhone. I want an EASY way to get these strung together for burning to DVD primarily as my fail-safe backup since I don't want to trust hard-drive backups for this important family footage. I'd really like some kind of batch program or drag and drop so I can just select a bunch of files, either from the file system directly, or in iPhoto, doesn't matter to me, and shazam the program ideally knows how much can fit on a DVD, strings them together, and burns. I don't need transitions or any custom arrangement of the clips. I can know their chronology from file dates so that is close enough. I have Final Cut Express if that helps. I'm willing to spend up to $100 or so if necessary. I can also write shell scripts or Apple Script if that helps. Thanks!

What you really want to be doing is backing up the your iPhoto Library file located in your Pictures folder in your .
I recommend an external hard drive, but if you really want to use DVDs there are applications (like Toast) that can span across multiple DVDs.

Create a Smart Folder for Movies without Video Podcasts in it

I'm trying to create a smart folder of just movies and not video podcasts. I have tried all different ways, but since you can't make a Kind "is not" something, it is posing a problem. I have tried holding down the option key and clicking the plus button, but that doesn't seem to help either. So with that, does any one have any suggestions?
