Creating a sitemap
I am trying to create a sitemap for submission to google to
be crwaled etc etc. What is the simplest way to do this. Remember I
am a numpty and instructions are best in short words with shorter
sentences please.
Many thanks
Doug
Easiest way that I have found is to get this extension and
let Dreamweaver create it for you. Then just open the file and give
it a once over after its created

How to create a sitemap for Apple Wiki server?
Since the content of a Wiki server is very dynamic, can the server generate a site map automatically?
If I manually created a sitemap, where should I put it so that it will show up in the root of my site?I have created a DSN in a web server (a Public IP machine) that is mapped to a Oracle DB.
In my Excel using VBA coding, with the help of RDO object I will call the DSN in the Web server using the connection string like "DSN=ORS;UID=SDATA;PWD=SDATA;"
This is working fine and in this case the client machine doesn't need Oracle client to be installed or any TNS entry.
The user can run the Excel report by clicking a button and the click event connects the DSN in the web server (through its URL) and routes to the mapped DB and fetches the quried data.
Please note that the above DSN is created based on Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver.
But the issue is using the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver I couldnt call the SP with Ref Cursor.
When I searched in Internet I came to know using the provider oraoledb.oracle we can call SP that uses REF CURSOR.
Now my question is what is the driver name that I can use to create a DSN to make use of the provider oraoledb.oracle for calling the SP with REF CURSOR from Excel VBA coding ?
Appreciate your prompt reply.
Thanks & Regards,

Creating a sitemap late in the game
I've created an entire site using a single template and about
7 pages. I've been told that the site map is how search engines
find your site info. What is the best way to create one for an
existing site? Is there a better way to make sure search engines
find the site? I have registered the site with three of the major
search engines but it still doesn't show up.This Site Map Generator does it all (xml, text, html and ror)
- up to 500
pages.

Problems creating a sitemap in DW CS4
Hi everyone,
I enabled view site map for my version of Dreamweaver CS4 and when I select "map view" I get a dialog box that pulls up that says:
The site map cannot be built due to one of the following reasons:
-A home page hasn't been specified.
-The specified home page doesn't exist
-the home page is outside the root folder
Select a home page by clicking the manage sites button.
I tried making altering things as I saw best but it still isn't working. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or not doing?
Thanks!
ashmicIn case I wasn't clear I'm trying to make a site map of the existing pages I've made for a site. I'm having no luck.

Getting Error while Creating Sitemap using SitemapGenerator 2.1.1

Even i referred No Navigation Pages Created in Common errors(page no 32) in the Endeca Sitemap Generator Developer's Guide Version 2.1.1 but still didn't get the proper solution
Plz let me know ur inputs/sugesstions.
Thanks in advance,
Chetan KumarThe other errors ("SEVERE: Error in Writing ... links: null") imply a misconfigured Sitemap Generator. I'm sorry that there's not a better error message and diagnosis, but it seems that the Sitemap Generator swallows the real error and only attempts to print out the exception message (which in your case is 'null' -- not very helpful). Looking at the application, you could get an error here under the following circumstances:
1) The Sitemap Generator cannot write to the intended output files
- Make sure that the directory implied by the <INDEX_FILE> configuration setting exists and is writable by the user executing the Sitemap Generator.
- If no directory is written in that setting (e.g. <INDEX_FILE> only contains a file name), then the Sitemap Generator will attempt to create the sitemap in the current directory.
- If that file already exists, then make sure that file is readable and writable by the current user.
2) The Sitemap Generator cannot create proper links for those files.
- Check to make sure you have valid entries in the corresponding files (<SEARCH_TERMS_FILE>, <STATIC_PAGES_FILE>, etc.).
- Check to make sure you have valid template files (<TEMPLATE_FILE>, <URL_FORMAT_FILE>, etc.).
As a general though, you may want to just take the initial Sitemap Generator configuration (unmodified, as is) and run the Sitemap Generator against this configuration. You can then start to tailor the configuration files for your application. (NOTE: you'll need all of the files in the conf directory.) -
I was asked to create a sitemap for one site and I had to do it the hard way. I had to upload the site, went to an online xml sitemap generator, generate the xml file and upload it.
But I was wondering whether DW has an option to generate an xml sitemap of the site offline?
Thanks,I use this on-line tool:

Sitemap for google from page created with Adobe Muse
"Can anyone help me with submitting my site to google.
I realise adobe muse automatically creates a sitemap.xml file, however I am not sure how to submit this to Google?
Is there a way to upload the sitemap.xml file into the muse sites' root folder.Hey there,
I had to edit your post because it was being flagged as spam by the system.
You never need to go into that hidden admin page, you already have your sitemap.xml generated. To register your site with google you need to use google webmaster tools.
Google for that and read up on how to use it. Note - To set the site up use the meta data version to put on your site. -
I hope someone can help!

conclusion from godaddy:
Search engines are not pulling up your other pages on your website because it is created with javascript.
the content on the pages, (photo gallery, My Recipes/Blog, History, Friends) need to be formatted to HTML, PHP or CSS. No search engines (google, Yahoo, Bing) can crawl//analyze webpages built with javascript.
See if Apple allows iweb to create the pages in HTML format and ask how to make those changes.
I spend more then 1 hour on the phone with them but we didn't find the solution...
please i need help because like this nobody can rich my website...
www.chefdiego.com
thank youThe part of iWeb pages that give the search engines problem is the navbar. That's javascript based. One way to get around that is to create another blank page in the site that's not included in the navbar.
Add a text based navbar in that page with just the other pages in the site.
Also you can use that page for creating the sitemap for Google at Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator.
Have you let Google know your site exists? This website describes how to get it recognized: Get your iWeb website found in search engines like Google Yahoo MSN and Bing.

Sitemap generator(s) aren't working correctly (I think)
Hello,
I followed the lengthy link yesterday that started out as "meta and Google-ing" which then morphed somehow into "best sitemap generator." Following suggestions from Varkgirl, James Tseng and others, I got registered and verified by Google. Thank you for that. It went smoothly and quickly.
I also followed the forum discussions about creating a Sitemap and, based on the recommendations, I tried two of them. First I tried http://www.sitemap.com/Default.aspx recommended by Varkgirl on 11/21/06. It seemed to work fine and downloaded a html page on my desktop in a matter of seconds. I dragged that onto Fetch and "Put" it to the server (ftp-dom.earthlink.net - with whom I have my primary email service. Getting a new website up on Earthlink was, happily, very easy.)
What I got back from SitemapDoc SEEMED incomplete - just the Home page was shown. I fiddled with ""edit existing map" and nothing happened that I could see. (I'm open to the idea that it's me, not the software.) I dragged the icon from the Fetch webdocs window in to the trash.
Then I tried another website generator that had been recommended by Rebecca as the super dooper one - xml-sitemaps.com. I did that because of her high praise and, also, because of a comment James Tseng has made in a 11/02.06 response to Tormance saying "...the sitemap.xml file. (Emphasis on the ".xml" file - thinking that maybe that xml was better.)
While I've read the definitions of html and xml ,I don't know the difference except that they are both markup languages for websites.
The xml-sitemaps.com sitemap page - downloaded to my desktop - showed the correct total number of web pages - 11. I should say that I chose to download the sitemap to the desktop and not to use iDisk. Perhaps that's part of the problem that ensued. I grabbed the sitemap.xml icon on the desktop and dropped it on to the Fetch webdocs page/window and clicked "Put." Fetch started to upload and all seemed to be fine. Initially I recognized page names, artwork names, Haiku lines from the new website. I got very nervous when it was still uploading after 25 minutes and I saw, among dozens of other files and folders, "Acobat Reader 5.0 sitz as Stuffit X Archive" (nothing on the website I created used compressed material), "Reader .pdf binary data," SVGA GMG carbon raster lib.sitx as Stuffit X archive," and, most scary, the beginning download of a file titled "passwords...." It looked to me as though it was uploading my entire hard drive - like something from a great 60s or early 70s movie, "Collosus the Forbin Project." I stop the Put at that point and trashed the sitemap.xml file.
Your suggestions are most welcome and appreciated.

Is there a technical reason - other than the practical reasons of backup and storage - to use iDisk to house my website? I currently have it in a desktop folder. In my original post I asked if not storing the website on iDisk might be part of the problem in not being able to create a sitemap.
Thanks.

Where do I put my sitemap?
Hi,
I've created a sitemap for my website (www.jims-jaunts.co.uk) http://web.mac.com/rimmerpaula/iWeb/ using xmlsitemaps.com - http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/details-web.mac.com-rimmerpaula-iWeb.html
I've dragged & dropped it into the following location; iDisk > Web > Sites > iWeb > Jim Rimmer

I've tried moving the site map around to different folders but I get the same message. I'm doing something wrong!

I am using a website called www.xml-sitemaps.com to create a sitemap for my site. I am a bit stuck to what to do after i have typed in my domain and its come up with lots of different links. Do i just save my sitemap.xml file next to my web pages in dreamweaver then and upload it into my servers public folder?
Also say i add a new page to my page in the future, do i then have to make a new sitemap or do something else?
Google doesnt seem to be indexing my site and i heard making a sitemap MAY help.
thanks in advance.Upload your sitemap to the same folder as your domain name home page (index.html).
Go to Google Webmaster Tools.
http://www.google.com/webmasters/
Set up an account if you don't already have one. Tell Google where to find your XML sitemap.
NOTE:http:// WWW.domain.com is NOT the same as http://domain.com. Use whichever is applicable to your site.
Once indexed, any new pages you add should be findable through the links on your site.

Business Catalyst Help | Add a sitemap
This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/create-customize-sitemaps.html
There is no sitemap.xml link any more only under the old system. BC generates this automatically.
In terms of the sitemap module that renders a list of items in a ul li format on a page this is under the site manager.
As with anything you see on the BC it also all depends on your plan.
