Creating a sub-bass (electronic music, house, techno)

Hi all, I don't mind if I need to get a plugin to do this but I'd love to be able to effectively make sub-basses in various forms.
Ones that rumble under the track/over the kick drum/replace the kick drum, ones that sound warm and melodic etc.
I doubt there are any hard and fast rules but any tips will be greatly appreciated. I was told that you can create a sub-bass by starting off with a sine wave then tapering off at the end... something like that! Not sure what instrument I would use etc.

That's not really a Sub Bass in that track (not in the classic sense). I'd argue it's actually a soft bass guitar of sorts played in the low range with a glissando which gives it that nice boooom sound.
And no, the Sub Bass plug in is not an instrument. You can only use it to add/enhance frequencies to other sounds.
The trick with proper sub-bass is to keep all frequencies around it clear so that it has room to breath... otherwise you're not going to hear it. Certainly compression will help too.
So in conclusion... if you want real sub (like classic jungle sound), then it typically is done with a simple sine wave (EXS24) and some shaping. But a similar though more rounded sound is still going to be bass instrument of sorts... depends what you have access to (there should be something in Logic though).

Basic home electronic music recording setup?

Hey guys, I decided I want to start recording electronic music, not necessarily professional, but I want to create electronic music similar to Deadmau5, Tiesto, and Skrillex. It doesn't have to be limited to progressive house or dubstep.
ANYWAYS, here's what I have so far, equipment and software wise:
-Macbook pro
-Logic Pro 9
and that's it. I need to know what the bare essentials are I should buy, for instance I know i need a MIDI keyboard, I am looking at a keystation 61es for about $100 on craigslist, nothing special. Is there anything else I need, either hardware or software wise? Also, would logic pro 9 be my best bet for recording progressive house music, or is there something more practical?!

You can buy any music software on the market.
It really doesn't matter.
The thing that makes good (or bad) music is you. The tools are just tools. If you have it in you, you'll get it out no matter what you use.
There's actually a good argument for the process of denying yourself the typical devices used to create media of your favorite genre. If you do that, it will force you to innovate and, hence, be more creative than your peers.

Basic Equipment for Electronic Music Production

Hi Everyone,
This would be my first question here so please be warned of my inexperience. I just would like to get some advice on what kind of gear is recommended for electronic music production. By that I mean:
Do I need an audio interphase if I wont be connecting any hardware?
What plugins should I look at that would work with my MBP and Logic Pro 7.2?
Which learning tools should a newbie get?
I currently have the last two items mentioned as well as M-Audio BX8s with a SBX sub, M-Audio O2 as a controller, and that's pretty much it. Your advice is much appreciated.

Absolutley get at least 1GB RAM. Good Monitors/Interface. As far as Plugins go, the dynamics are the ones IMO which need the most upgrading. You get EXS24 and a large Library to go with it, as well as many synths. Logic comes with a huge soundset. You should be the judge as to what your tracks are missing. Logic's plugs alone will be able to do amazing tracks. If you are new to this, learning how the synths work (programming them well) and getting your mixing and arranging in place is the priority. Logic's sounds should keep you happy for at least 1/2 year, by then you'll have a good idea as to what you are looking for. Ask alot of questions, theere's alot to learn. Another place Logic doesn't really get far into is Synthesis which requires a good understanding of math (FM, Additive, etc)- the advanced types of these synthesizers are not so common today. FM was very popular but it is more than many people care to get in to. I use FM all the time though.

Creating A Sub-Mix?

I am pretty much a novice in Logic 7.I know that it is possible to create a submix(the same tracks in the song with a different master effect) of the current track that I am working on. This is my objective:
I have 4 vocal audio tracks and 8 Midi Instr. Tracks. I want my tracks in an 8 bar long low pass/next door sound type effect with Reason Flatblaster as the into and I want it to fade/or transition the same tracks into the original sound for the rest of the track. Is it possible to create a sub mix and not have to bus each track into the effect and automate the level of effect to transition. Also if i can create a sub mix, do i have to copy my original tracks and if so how do i do it?

Unless I need to save screen space or processing power, I will build a sub mix using the busses.
So I want to filter the drums, and automate the filter over time:
- Send the output of the drumtracks to stereo bus 1
- Add the filter plugin to the bus
- Add the bus to the arrange window
- Automate the plugin
Or
I want to get a better perspective on my mix, it's all too much and I'm confused.
- Create 4 to 8 busses
- Assign the outputs of my various elements to stereo bus outputs
- - bus 1: drums
- - bus 2: bass
- - bus 3: atmosphere
- - bus 4: keyboad
- - bus 5: backing vocals
- - bus 6: lead vocals
- Mix the buses to get better imaging, and leveling.

I am back with an update. I turned off Match on both the ipad and the iphone 5. By doing so I was able to sync my Iphone and ipad to itunes and store the music on my devices rather than the slow streaming. So far this has fixed my problems with the iphone I have all my music, playlist, most of the album art and so on. But the ipad is a different story. I have the music and artist but not one playlist I am sure Apple will have an upgrade soon that will address these issues they are usually very good about this.
Now have any of you experienced another problem that has existed as long as I have used faces in Aperture.
I have over 200 faces and they are organized a-z problem is I have this going on A-Z folowed by a few that start over A-Z followed by another few A-Z and again a 4th time A-Z. Imagine how difficult it is while I am showing someone the great features of my iphone, ipad and imac. Which I do talk highly of all the time. But how do I explain that even though their name starts with a or b or what ever they are not important enough to me to be in the first list of A-Z or even the 2nd or 3rd list of A-Z someohow they are in the 4th section of the list!!!!
I have managed to get the Imac to fix this but for some reason the IOS devices do not. Any ideas?

Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.
Sync.

Also, you can add a New Folder button to the Finder's toolbar by opening Finder, going to the View menu in the menubar, selecting Customize Toolbar..., and dragging the New Folder icon to the toolbar in the Finder window. Then it's just one-click for new folders wherever you want them.

Please check ULS log for more useful information when this error occurs.
Please also check if this issue could be reprodued in other libraries, if not, you can use the new library instead.

Garageband Keeps Creating a folder in my MUSIC folder

Everytime i open Garageband, and Logic Pro. It creates a folder in my MUSIC folder entitled Garageband.
I Save all my projects, bounces, samples, sounds, etc in a Projects folder on my desktop and I do not see the need for this folder. Is their a way to direct it elsewhere, or stopit fromhappening all together?

I'm pretty sure that folder is going to be made no matter what but you can direct garageband to save your file to any location you want. Select save as and the window promts the user as to where to save the file. Just select the location you want.

vi. Once the PS Structure is created, save and activate the structure.

This has been going on for a couple of days. I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference. Any advice, please?

Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
HD/ Library
and
HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

Creating a Sub Cost Centre

Does anybody know how to create a sub cost centre. As in a cost centre which is part of/under another main cost centre.
I would be really greatfull if anybody can help.

You could use a statistical Internal Order for lower level analysis of a Cost Centre.
We use these for our Schools.
Each School has one Cost Centre eg: E10030
And then many Internal Orders which represent the departments eg:-
ECAT10030   Catering
EENG10030   English Dept
EMAT10030   Maths Dept
Some Schools have over 100 Internal Orders.
Validations ensure an Internal Order is always used with a School Cost Centre. No posting can take place against the Cost Centre alone.
Substituions enter the related Cost Centre for an Internal Order when creating a document.
The Cost Centre is held against the Internal Order in its Master Record.
