I created a folder called sound fonts in USER/LIBRARY/LOGIC/SAMPLER INSTRUMENTS. I just got new sound fonts, i put them in side the folder... I didn't see them, how do I go about using sound fonts? Thanks

Yo whats up dude... That was the first thing I tried...maybe i shouldnt stick it in the folder. Should i just stick the files in the Sample Instruments foler.
Yes, that's it. I have only done that once, just to try it out. I believe that you can put them in a folder after conversion though.

  • Vienna Multi Layered Sound Fonts

Some of the more sophisticated keyboards have weighted action that uses a different sampled sound for each range of velocity. That way you get the sound of a piano played softly as opposed to the sound of a piano played normally with the volumn turned down.
Is Vienna 2.4 capable of creating sound fonts which are organized in this way and respond to velocity by switching samples? If so, are there instructions some where as to how to build such a font?
Also are there any piano fonts out there for download that use this technique?

    Hi Joseph,
Not at this time, although if other layered libraries offer VST support, there is a method for inclusion in Soundbooth.  Generally, all of these custom, dynamic sound libraries are pretty segregated.
While Adobe's own offerings are limited to the 4 or 5 dozens scores, there is an SDK available that enables anyone to create their own Scores or Score libraries.  It's our hope that more third party score libraries start to become available, and our long-term goal is to make it simpler for our users to create their own dynamics scores from their own compositions or other pieces of music.  Ideally, I'd love to offer a tool where someone could import any piece of music, we could analyze it and split it into various compositional components, then allow a user to shuffle, extend, loop, or skip those pieces as they saw fit.  Right now, we're probably a bit away from that

Sorry, I was confused by your profile signature showing "GarageBand (Mac) '11".
It is very similar in the newest GarageBand 10.0.2:
Enable Audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences > Audio/Midi.
    Create a software instrument track.
Show the Smart Controls and click the button.
In the Info panel scroll, to make the Audio Units brick visible and click the "Instrument" control.  Select "AuInstrument > Apple > DLSMusicDevice" and click it, to open the settings.
This should show you a panel, where you can select a Sound Bank. Does that show your sound font?

  • How do I create a custom sound/vibration profile per app, SMS text, phone, or email contact?

I have a Verizon iPhone 4s recently upgraded to iOS 7.  I'm an IT engineer who's on call and started a new job last week with a company that doesn't provide company phones like a blackberry.  So now I get tons of company email alerts, text messages, and phone calls both private and for work.  I always have my phone switched to vibrate to filter out the noise of generic emails/texts/phone calls, but I also need to be able to configure specific emails sent from our network monitoring servers, text messages from my teammates and alerting devices, as well as phone calls from our internal tech support to be sent with sound.  Ideally I also need to be able to configure alert options in an "On-call" profile I can switch on so that I can configure alert repeats and the most annoying noise I can find so I don't sleep through network pages..  But I still want to be able to keep the default vibrate for everyone else and everything else.. How do I create a custom sound/vibration profile per app, SMS text, phone, or email contact?  In blackberry's, you can easily create different profiles to switch back/forth and configure each app/text/phone option to either a sound option or vibrate.  iPhone seems to be all vibrate or all sound, with little to no options to mix/match the two..  If Apple ever hopes to truly capture the enterprise market blackberry has, this is the most standard and essential feature on blackberries for IT professionals..  If I have to buy a third-party app for this, so be it.  But I've been searching for hours and found nothing that creates customized sound/vibrate profiles for iPhone like this (minus jailbreaking your phone, but I shouldn't have to jailbreak a $699 "smartphone" for simple sound/vibrate/alert options like this..).

Yeah Appke wants to be like RIM (Blackberry) who is sinking fast and their devices will be door stops.
http://www.apple.com under support you can ask at their forum or you can call them. However if you call under ios7 support they may help you for free. But if not they will cost you $$$$
As far as I can tell with my iphone what you want to do is not possible. There are sites that tell you how  to make different ringtones for the device but your choices to change  sounds for email and text/sms messages are controlled unders sounds in the setting menu.  Again the manual is on your phone and online if you need assistance changing sounds and ringtones.
    Good Luck

  • Sound Fonts: How to record?

I can get the sound fonts to play in Garageband player but the song sent to iTunes the instruments defaults to the software instruments? And while we are at it is it possible to convert sound fonts to software instruments?
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Using SoundFontSynth and load a sf2 file and apply it to a midi track, depending on the sf2 file they seem to vary, GB plays the ihe instrument but when the song is sent to iTunes the new instrument either is changed back to the instrument applied when the midi file was loaded or doesn't play at all.
Since I first asked I tried another sf2 file and it worked the amended instrumentation played. For somone new to this it is bewildering but I am keen to learn.

  • How do i fix sound font fail for audigy 2

all of the suddon my sound stopped working and my diagnostics say sound font fail. how do i fix this problem?

I had the exact same problem updating the drivers for my Audigy 2 Platinum EX, but I think I managed to solve the problem. This was quite awhile ago, but I think I remember how I got it to work.
First of all, which update did you download? The "Digital Rights Management" driver update was the one giving me that problem, and this was after installing the main drivers and programs from my Audigy 2 CD. But, I think the reason why it gives this message is because you need to install one of the other driver updates first, then install this DRM update. Look under the driver details and it says the following:
    "<EM>Requirements</EM>:
Microsoft? Windows? XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 </LI>
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series internal audio device </LI>
<EM>EAX 4.0 ADVANCED HD Driver Patch Update for Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS (released on 29 March, 2004) installed, or Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update (released on 29 July, 2004) installed</EM>."</LI>
Strangely enough, it appears this update requires you install an older driver update first (EAX4DRV_AUDIGY2__84_50.exe) then afterwards try running the Digital Rights Management update.
I think this is right, but I'm not 00% sure.

Have you tried importing them into the EXS 24 ? Assuming the process is the same if you're on Logic X, its just a matter of putting the soundfont files into the ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments folder and the EXS converts them when you try to load them - its explained properly in the Software Instruments manual (EXS24 section), but its very quick and  easy. It might provide a decent alternative.

  • Created a custom sound. How to save this "instrument" as a preset in Logic?

I have created a custom sound using the ES2 plugin and I have added some effects to it. How do I save this new "instrument" as a preset? and can I chose what folder to put it in/create a new one?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chuck

If you want to save an instrument patch together with plugins and so on, you should save it as a channel strip.
Use the channel strip menu at the top of the channel object. There is a defined directory for user channel strips, but you can create folders within it and organise your channel strip settings as you like.
These settings will show up in the channel strip menu, and the media browser too.

  • How Can i Create my own sounds in Garageband?

I know how to take songs and create them into ringtones for my iphone but i would like to know how i can create a simple sounding text messaging notifier from garageband. Anyone have any ideas?

I just imported an mp3 into Garageband.
I sent it to iTunes via the "Share" menu.
Once in iTunes, I chose "Create Ringtone."
I got a message saying "You Can Convert Many Songs Purchased from the iTunes store to ringtones."
    So what is the secret?

  • Upgraded to Yosemite, lost all sound fonts

I recently upgraded my OS from Mavericks to Yosemite. Everything was going well-ish after the upgrade (generally slower than Mavericks, which is annoying) until I noticed that some instruments weren't making a sound in a Garageband composition. Turns out my sound banks (Library > Audio > Sounds > Banks), where my sound fonts are stored, are now empty. I've checked both Libraries, under Macintosh HD and "User", but no sign of them. I've searched using Spotlight and they're nowhere to be found.
This is pretty frustrating as I've spent a long time gathering sound fonts for use on various projects, but they've all been removed in one fell swoop. Thanks Yosemite.
Anybody else come across this? Am I just unlucky? I'm hoping this is the only chunk of files to go missing after the upgrade! I guess time will tell.
If you're thinking about updating, copy your sound banks folder to a safe location first!

You don't need to have your photos and music in the cloud. Mine aren't. I have my libraries on the computer.
If the iPhoto app came with the computer, then it is probably not in the App Store under your purchases unless you purchased a newer version. If you have it on your iMac and didn't upgrade to 10.10.3 yet, check the version on it. Version 9.6.1 is what you need. If it isn't, update it. Then copy it to your laptop.
If you don't have the new Photos application on the computer with 10.10.3 running, then something didn't update properly. Search the drive to be sure it isn't there. If you can't find it, then you might try running the combo updater here:

  • Creating new system barcode font on SE73

    Hi all...
I'm trying to create a new barcode font based on BC_C128B...
I created a ZXXXXXX with the same attributes...
In the form i put the ZXXXXXX in the codebar field of my char format.
When I run my program and print, i can see the actual characters instead of codebar.
But when i change the barcode to BC_C128B, it prints the codebar correctly...
    What am I missing??
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
In addition to creating the new system barcode, you need to also create the print controls that contain the actual commands that are sent to the printer in the used device type.
    i.e. SE73 -> Printer Bar Code -> <Device type>(e.g. HPLJ4000)
In here you have to add the barocde that you created via the 'Create' icon. You can create the ZBC_C128 barcode within the device type and assign two new print controls. e.g.
    Device type          HPLJ4000
    Bar code             ZBC_C128
    Bar code prefix      SBP99
    Bar code suffix      SBS99
Then you need to fill the print controls SBP99 and SBS99 with commands similar to SBP21 and SBS21. these commands tell the printer to switch to the barcode font.

  • Looking for GM sound fonts..

    hi...
i think i finally understand now, i kept trying to use my yahama psr keyboard to play every midi file i downloaded becouse it sounded better then the xf-i but i couldn't becouse the drums kept sounding wrong.
now i understand that there is midi and there is General Midi and only GM format would be portable acroos my sound card an keybaord.
now i know i can use sound font banks to upgrade the qaulity of the x-fi midi, BUT, i also know, that i need to use GM compatible sound fonts, so where do i find these? and how can i load them up correctly?

Okay, I figured out what the problem is. It's not really the fonts, it's the encoding. Urxvt (and xterm as well, for that matter) seem to fail to load any fonts with the encoding required for ANSI art.
If I call urxvt with the -fn flag or specify URxvt*font in .Xdefaults and want to use a font that ends in -ibm-cp437 or a vga font like vga11x19, I get either one of the following errors and urxvt reverts to the fallback font that does not support ANSI art.
urxvt: vga11x19: cannot deduce encoding from font name property "", ignoring font.
urxvt: -monotype-courier new-medium-r-normal--17-120-100-100-m-0-ibm-cp437: cannot deduce encoding from registry/encoding properties "ibm-cp437", ignoring font.
urxvt: -monotype-courier new-medium-r-normal--17-120-100-100-m-0-ibm-cp437: cannot deduce encoding from font name property "ibm-cp437", ignoring font.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • What are so good setting to make vocals sound good on garageband?

i was wondering what were some good setting on garageband to help make my vocals sound good?

This is a quick-and-dirty setup for vocals.
    Two disclaimers:
    1. Even a "perfect" mix for one context will be the wrong mix for another. This is *only* a workhorse configuration and no more. Edit it to taste.
    2. Other people may give you a "basic" template to work with which doesn't resemble this one at all, and both can be good. There's no one way to do this, so be open to all input.
    - First, get a new track going. Make sure the inputs are set as they should be and the monitor is on.
    - Go to the track's "edit" tab.
    - Set the noise gate at an appropriate level. This might take a little bit of trial and error, as setting it too low (obviously) lets in hiss and setting it too high will block out quiet dynamics and the tail end of long notes. Experiment with it, as everyone will be different.
    - Turn on Compressor. Set Threshold for max, set ratio for max, set attack all the way to the left (fast) and adjust gain to taste.
    - Turn on Visual EQ. Use the high-mid band to add a little bump (about +5dB in the 2500Hz range). Then use the treble band to add a bit of "air" (about +5dB in the 12000Hz range. Depending on how it sounds you may want to play with the low-mid and bass bands to taste.
I find this is good for vocals that are buried in full-band arrangements (add reverb, echo and short reflection reverb to taste) and also for podcasts.
    Hope this is helpful.
