Creating Adobe PDF on-line

It is taking me hours to create Adobe PDF on-line and then to download the file.
Why could this be happening?

  • Create Adobe PDF from Word DOCX Issue

    Good Morning All,
We have stumbled across an apparently well-known issue, which annoyingly for all concerned does not seem to have a satisfying answer.  One rather long discussion is here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4237240.  There is at least one other which also alludes to the issue basically involving Office 2010 SP1 and having the Word user template location re-directed to a network drive.  None of the suggested things have worked, and we do not want to even try the user template location on a local drive, we want a fix for what is really a fairly standard scenario.
I think we have found something new to add to the mix, this is noted later in the post.  For completeness I have also included a condensed version of events/stuff we have tried, to help anybody who reads this and may have an answer.
    Our scenario is as follows:
We recently performed a Microsoft Office 2007 to Office 2010 SP1 upgrade.  A week or so in advance of this we upgraded all those folks that had Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to X, (v10.0.0).
Within a couple of days of the Office upgrade we had reports of an issue whereby users could not convert Word documents to PDF.  Window title: Create Adobe PDF, message: Unable to open the document <path to file>.  Please check to see if you have permission for the above file.  (The user always does have rights to the location.)
All machines are 32bit Windows 7 and well capable of running this OS and these apps.
Machine patching is maintained by SCCM.
Deployment of Acrobat and Office was done by SCCM.
    The issue broken down:
Conversion of Word documents to PDF fails in these scenarios:
Windows Explorer – right click of single file and ‘Convert to PDF’.
Windows Explorer – right click of multiple files and batch conversion option.
Outlook – Convert to PDF and e-mail.  (Error message is different, apologies I have no note of this to hand.)
It should be noted that conversion of any other file format works, plus conversion of Word documents consistently works inside the Word interface using Adobe toolbar.
Not consistently a user based issue:
It usually * fails for our main test user on her PC.  Although sometimes a single file or batch file conversion will work.  However the option in Outlook never works.  (* Every so often the single file and batch conversion’s do work for the test user, there is no obvious reason as we have not applied any fixes that worked!)
Everything works fine for the test user on my PC and another PC in her department.
Not consistently a machine based issue.
The process always works for me on my machine, but fails most of the time when I use the test users PC.
The process always works for a test account cloned from the test user’s actual account.
Giving local admin rights to the test user did not help.
    Summary of things tried:
Various forum suggestions have not worked:
Deleting/renaming normal.dotm worked initially but the problem returned within a couple of days.
    Registering some Adobe DLL's: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll & C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\PDFMaker\Common\AdobePDFMakerX.dll.
The Word Add-in tool bar is enabled.
The users name and intials are present in Word options.
There are no rogue temp files in %temp% or C:\users\<user>\appdata\roaming\microsoft\word.
    Stuff we have tried independently:
Repair Office install then repair Adobe install.
    Patching Acrobat to 10.1.1 & 10.1.4.
Remove and re-install of Acrobat, including patch.
Remove and re-install of Acrobat Pro and Reader, (using the official Adobe labs removal tool), including patch.  (When products were removed Office was repaired.  Just Acrobat Pro X was installed after, no Reader.)
During this work I noticed two files in %temp% which get updated when file conversion is attempted: amt.log and swtag.log.  After Googling these files I found there may be some interesting stuff in amt.log when the process fails.  Unfortunately this has not been the case.  There is no obvious log entry difference between a successful conversion and a failure.
However at this time I started to notice files in %temp% in the following format: cv*.tmp.cvr.  Google revealed these to be Office crash dump files.  Unfortunately these files are always zero bytes long and literally contain nothing to analyse!
So after clearing out all these .cvr files I ran Task Manager, and had %temp% open in a folder.  I then tried the conversion process:
    Firstly it fails!
Secondly a zero byte .cvr file is created and usually disappears right away.
Thirdly winword.exe appears and disappears quickly in Task Manager.
You can repeat this to your heart’s content by hitting the retry button!
The only thing I can add about my PC is that I never had Acrobat until I tried installing it to re-create the issue.  So it may be that my PC having no legacy Adobe install issues, (I only had Reader previously), was less prone to whatever is the root of this issue?  The affected machines in the field have at least been upgraded from v9.
As you can tell we have found it very hard to pin the issue down.  The circumstances for a failure are not consistently repeatable.  I do think the key thing we have noticed though is the obvious crashing of winword.exe when this process fails.  As evidenced by the creation of the cv*.tmp.cvr files and watching the process appear and disappear in Task Manager.  Nothing I have read elsewhere notes this, and it seems to me that winword.exe does not like being called in this way.  This is surely very key to the issue?

I should also add that there are no error messages appearing on screen when we have a failure, and nothing is logged in any Windows event log.
I have done lots more searching since first reporting this.  Lots of people have this issue going back to last year at least with Office 2010 SP1 Acrobat X.  No answers or fixes out there apparently despite being promised to some people who have done a bug report.
This is really not good enough.  I have reported our scenario as a bug report earlier today.  Hopefully I will get a proper fix, then I will gladly pass it on.

  • How to Permanently Hide the "Creating Adobe PDF" Dialog

When the default printer is set to be the "Adobe PDF" printer and an application creates a print image, the distiller (I presume) displays a dialog entitled "Creating Adobe PDF", with a "Hide" button.
How does one make the default to NOT show this dialog?
    Thank you in advance.
    Windows 7/Acrobat X Pro

This removes the "Creating PDF" box, but also seems to remove my ability to rename the documents. I need everything to perform exactly the same (including the rename and save to a specific directory), but I don't need Acrobat telling me it's creating a document as "Print to PDF" already tells me that. Thanks, though!

  • "Creating Adobe PDF" task will not close  H E L P

"Creating Adobe PDF" task will not close after I print a .pdf document. I am running Windows XP Professional with Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional v 8.1.2. It doesn't matter what application I print from, this window stays open in the background. I have to minimize the window in the windows task bar, then restore the window, then click hide on the window to get it to close.
Please help me, I have searched for a solution, but nothing seems to be out there. I can't be the only one having this problem.

Has anyone had any luck resolving this issue? I had the problem for a long time and then it went away, I believe after I reinstalled Adobe because the updater had stopped working. Recently the issue began again, primarily with printing to PDF from Explorer. It seemed to start after a recent Microsoft update, so I am wondering if that was the culprit, though even if it is I have no idea how to correct it. When I can catch the "hide" button on the dialogue when it first launches the "creating adobe pdf" task, it sometimes closes itself. I have also noticed that it seems to re-appear on every OTHER print to PDF. I am running Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, Version 8.2.5 on Windows XP Professional and Internet Explorer 7. Anyone? Help?

  • No Create Adobe PDF button in Microsoft Word 2000

    Hi,
I recently purchased and installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 and am working my way through Adobe Acrobat Classroom in a Book. I've learned there should be a "Create Adobe PDF" button in Microsoft Word (and Excel, etc.), but there are none in mine. If I use the Adobe PDF printer, an untagged PDF will result.
I'm using Microsoft Word 2000; is that version too old to support the addition of a Create Adobe PDF button within the application? I've also recently installed Omnipage and buttons for that application installed in Word with no problems.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • "Create Adobe PDF" Problems

    Hello!
I would appreciate some help with the Create Adobe PDF function..
When i right click a MS Word file and then choose "Convert to Adobe PDF" i get an error saying:
    Create Adobe PDF
Unable to find "Adobe PDF" Printer or "Acrobat Distiller" printer.
Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?
    Yes     No
I ran the installer (Yes) and put the cd in. Afterwards i restarded the computer and tried again. But the same error pops up.
Does anyone have any clues on how to get this fixed?
    ANY help appreciated, tanks!!

  • Printing Issue - 'Sticking' at Point of 'Creating Adobe PDF'

Installed XI Pro and have a few problems.  First is....
Adobe (for lack of better description) 'sticks' at the point of Creating Adobe PDF.  The printing never progresses beyond the 'Creating' dialog box (the computer doesn't lock).
The image below might help.  Have crossed this in Excel and Word but probably an issues in other software.
    Thoughts??

    >> There is no doubt that using Adobe Creative Suite
    has HUGE advantages.
    >> It does
    >> everything that Freehand used to do (the past tense
    is deliberate - it
    >> surely
    >> can't survive forever), and a whole lot more... plus
    more and more.
    >
    > This applies partly to Illustrator not to whole CS
    including InDesign
    > and Photoshop.
Did I miss the point or what? Anyway it is a bit strange to
    compare
    FreeHand with CS package.
There are still many things that are difficult to do with
    multiple
programs that could be done just in FreeHand. Although
    FreeHand has quite
poor body text controls (there are layout program like
    options but they do
not really work) making for example a book jacket was more
    simple and
faster. This is simply because area text in Illustrator is
    very slow and
buggy as hell. Even the amount of text in the backcover can
    take a lot of
time to adjust. Not to mention that Illustrator reflows text
    in random
paragraps while making changes in just one.
I could use InDesign and import all the images and graphic
    but that would
    be even slower.
Like said I use Illustrator a lot and kinda like it
    sometimes, but the
bugs are driving me nuts. Some of the bugs, still not fixed,
    appeared in
    version 10!!!!

  • "Creating Adobe PDF" slow (from Microsoft Word to Acrobat X)

Since I installed Adobe Acrobat X, whenever I print to PDF, it takes me a really long time to create a PDF.  I have a simple 8 page Microsoft Word doc and several minutes later, it is still creating the PDF.  Any clues? Fixes?

I had adobe updater running in the background.  When I turned that off, printing occurred instantly.

  • Print/Create Adobe pdf problems

I have always been able to create a pdf of any page that I was viewing on the web or on Microsoft word.  I tried it again today and I am getting an error message.  I print the page and select the Adobe pdf as the printer.  Normally, it would ask me to rename it and to select the location I would like it saved.  I am now getting a message saying "Invalid Adobe pdf printer properties, Do not change spooler settings.  Please select Print directly to the printer option from the Advanced window."  I never changed my options so I am not sure why this would pop up suddenly.  I even try to change the setting like the message said but this ends up doing nothing but giving me an error message by the printer icon on the bottom of my screen.  What can I do?

    If you get this:
    Invalid "Adobe PDF" printer properties
    Do not change spooler settings.
Please select "print directly to the printer" option (from Adobe PDF printer properties "advanced" tab)
    Try this:
Find the Acrobat printer in Printers.
Right click on it and select Properties then the Advanced Tab.
For me, "Spool print documents..." was selected.
The Fix:  Deselect "Enable advanced printing features".
    Click OK.

  • Can't create Adobe PDF printer on Win7 64 bit

I'm running a newDell Optiplex 990 with Windows 7 64 bit in a large company. Our IT guy just installed CS6 and everything seems to work fine -- EXCEPT - when we go to Devices and Printers/Add printer, there's no Adobe PDF driver (are they still called drivers?) to install as a printer.
We've reinstalled/repaired Acrobat Pro 10 several times and it still doesn't appear. We've never gotten a message indicating a problem.
I've done a lot of searching on this forum and elsewhere and found what seems to be the answer for many people which I'll copy here. Please note that when we get to bullet #4, there's nothing like Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) to select -
    Manually install the PDF Printer
Click Start >  Control Panel > Devices and Printers
    Select Add a printer
    Select Add a local printer
Check Use an existing port and select Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down.
    Click Next
    Click the Have Disk… button
    Click the Browse… button
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF
Select AdobePDF.inf from the list, then click the OK button
You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next (you may need to try this numerous times to find the correct Converter from the list that works with your version of Windows)
Name your printer, e.g. Adobe PDF
Follow the rest of the prompts and your PDF printer should now be installed correctly
Two additional details that may be significant:
    1. We dug into the folder mentioned in bullet #8 but there wasn't an Xtras folder. I have a similar system at home and was able to find the Xtras folder. I copied that and placed it into the same spot on my work PC but no luck.
    2. Our IT department is rolling out Viewfinity in order to lock down PCs from users installing "stuff". The IT guy who did the install was logged in as an admin but still was unable to install Adobe PDF.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Unable to create Adobe PDF

I have started receiving failures when trying to make PDF files. The failure I receive say"Unable to find Adobe PDF resource files. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode? • Adobe Update creates Adobe PDF (Copy 1) printer?

    Hi,
I hope someone can help - I installed CS5.5 earlier this month. Everything was working fine.
I recently accepted a prompt to install the latest update. It installed successfully but suddenly I had two PDF printers - a new printer named "Adobe PDF (Copy 1)" was installed.
I had various setting already set in my normal Adobe PDF printer so I tried to delete "Adobe PDF (Copy1)" and that when everything went wrong. It would not let me delete it and then I could not use any of my Adobe PDF printers (I usually print to them from InDesign).
I ended up having to clean my entire system of any adobe products and re-install. (on advice from Adobe)
Well the exact same thing happened again - I accepted another update and again a "Adobe PDF (Copy 1)" appeared. I am too worried that I will have to re-install the enture suite again so I am leaving this one where it is.
Has anyone else got this problem? Or know what the cause/solution is?
    Thanks

Thanks for your response but in the thread you recommended : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/791587 the only successful repairs have been done to Windows XP. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit and there still seem to be users having problems with that.
I am going to wait until someone with the same configuration fixes their problem (perhaps you have?) before I try this as I cannot afford to have my PDF creation down at the moment.

  • How to recreate the Create Adobe PDF printer queue (Mac)?

I have tried deleteing the files in /Library/Printers/PPD Plugins (nothing was there) and /Library/Printers/PPDs but when I go to repair the Acrobat install from the Help menu, I only get the option to recreate the Safari plug-in. There doesn't seem to be any option under Distiller. So how can I recreate that print queue, short of reinstalling from scratch?

That's one way. Another is to use the Save as Adobe PDF from the PDF box at the lower left of the Print window.
