Creating album from 72 dpi images

Hi,
I would like to create an album from images that are only 72dpi. However, these images are very large some are over 3000 x 2500. When placing the images into the album, I never get a warning sign indicating too low of a resolution. But, I'm still concerned with the quality I may receive if I go ahead with the images that I have. Anyone have experience with printing images at this dpi but at a very large canvas size? Am I going to see any pixelation?
Also, I heard it was good idea to make your images a little brighter since print will always appear slightly darker, is this true?
Thanks for any help in advance.

What is it that you want to do? an album in iPhoto is a logical group of photos and there is nothing about an album that cares about phto size or can give you a warning
Are you trying to make an iPhto book? if not what are you trying to do?

Again we need to know what you are doing - in iPhoto books these photos will successfully print without a warning up to 16.667" x 13.889" - larger than any photo available in iPhoto books

Once again what are you doing? What size is "very large". Generally you will not have noticeable pixelation with prints that are 180 dpi or greater.
Also, I heard it was good idea to make your images a little brighter since print will always appear slightly darker, is this true?
If you are making an Apple book I would not recommend trying to second guess the printing - almost everyone who had not overly modified their photos has been happy with the books they have received

  • PSE9/Win 7: Create album from resized files?

    I use PSE 9 on Windows 7.
I used File/Process Multiple Files to resize a large number of my images.
Now all of those resized files are in one Windows folder.
They have the same filenames as the original files.
I'd like to bring those resized files back into PSE and create an Album out of them.
Is there any way I can do that without getting lots of duplicate entries in my Catalog?
If I rename them I think I'll have a similar problem because they have the same tags saved in them
    as the original do.
I resized them so they would fit on my iPad. The album is a very easy way to get them to
    the iPad via iTunes.
Thanks for any help or advice.

Well, I used Process Multiple Files to rename all of the files. All of the files are in one folder in Windows.
7,480 jpgs that take up 1.43GB on Windows.
So I imported that folder into PSE. Along with the keywords in those images.
Then I created an album from that set.
I used iTunes to Sync the PSE album.
It sent the 7,480 photos to my iPad and iPhone.
But on my iPad the Photos now take 6.5GB. And on the iPhone 4.5GB.
So that's a bit strange. I talked to Apple and they are looking into it.
I think it has something to do with the 'iPod Photo Cache' folder that gets created.
I think that folder keeps copies of the images that are optimized for each iOS device.
But why it needs to increase the size by 400% seems odd.
I use the Smart Photo Album app on the iPad to work with my photos.
It reads the keyword tags. And allows a search refinement somewhat like Organizer.
I think once the files are on the iPad/iPhone I can actually unhook that folder from PSE.
I've got my Photostream folder set up to be Watched by PSE Organizer. So any new photos
I take with the iOS devices pop up in PSE for me to tag, etc.
Now I need to create a Smart Album for all the pictures that have not yet been sent to the iOS devices.
And I may not have to do that if I just take pictures with my iPhone/iPad.
So this is interesting and does seem to be working out.
I love having all of these pictures on my iPad.

Use an app like PhotoSync.  It will retain your album structure when you transfer photos to your computer.

  • Trouble creating album  from My Pictures Folder

I'm trying to create an album from the My Pictures folder under the My Documents folder.  Within MyPictures I have several years worth of pictures organized into different folders.  I would like to basically import the folder structure into an Album.  I can import all of the pictures but they're not organized in any useful way. I don't want to have to reoganize 5 years worth of pictures.  I've been using Picassa and thought Photoshop Elements would be nice to have.  Picassa easily organizes the pictures according to the folder structure I already have.  Is there any practical way to import my folder structure into the album?  If not I think I wasted my money on Photoshop.  Thanks, I'll keep trying but for now I've gone back to Picassa to edit my pictures.

If you have PSE7 or later (not sure about PSE6), you can set the album name when you import photos from a folder. Its in the photo downloader, under advanced options.
An even simpler way to "recreate" your folder structure is to use Folder Location View (Alt-Ctrl-3), although there are some bugs that affect the operations of Folder Location View on occasion.
But ... the point of the Organizer is not to duplicate your folder structure as albums, or to organize by folders. If that's all you're going to do in the Organizer, I wouldn't bother, as it seems like a waste of time to me -- import, set the album name, and when you're all done, you have the same structure and have no benefits that you didn't have before in the folder structure. The Organizer is not a file browser, as Picasa is.
However, if you plan to create these albums, plus use the more powerful tools in the Organizer: (tags, captions, notes) you will have a much more powerful organization of your photos. These tools allow you to organize your photos in non-hierarchical ways (folder organization must be hierarchical). If you want all of your pictures of Churches, regardless of which folder they are in, you click on the Church tag, and you've got them all. You really can't do that in Windows, or with your folders duplicated into albums. If you are going to use these tools (along with your albums), or use the Organizer to make creations, then great, its probably worth your time.

  • Corrupt image formatting when creating pdf from embedded visio image in MS word

Hello, Using Adobe Acrobat 9 standard and trying to create a PDF file from an MS word (version 2003) document.  PDF file created is fine except for an image (embedded visio diagram imported into word).  When created in PDF, the image is missing many of the diagram labels, and other text boxes are in the wrong font and wrong location.  I don't know if it's my Adobe Acrobat or MS Word settings that need to be updated.
    thanks, NB

    Dear fellows,
the problem is still present.  My system:Windows 7 32-Bit Prof, MS Office 2010 Prof, Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1, Vision 2010 Prof, all updates installed.
Problem #1: Even the latest Acrobat X 10.1.1 version causes Visio 2010 to start with error messages, origin: the Acrobat Add-In.  Therefore I de-activated the Acrobat Add-In, again, as in the past.
As I design grafics with Visio 2010, I mark them in the active Visio window, copy the marked parts and then insert them into my Word-Document.  So far, so good and as I want it.
The (still present) problem: I can produce a PDF file using the "save as Adobe PDF", but the Visio drawing is incomplete and corrupt.  E.g. arrows as line endings have disappeared.
PS: But using Adobes PDF printer sets the embedded Visio drawing correctly!  But using the printer one looses some features of the "save as Adobe PDF" command.
    Well, probably one day ...
    Regards,
    Rückenlehne.

  • Can't create outlines from a placed image?

I'm using illustrator and I placed this image:
    http://i500.photobucket.com/albums/e406/Aelvir/G2_zps95ce8124.png
and no matter what I do, it won't let me select "Create Outlines".

I suspect you're imagining the Create Outlines command does something more than it really does. It is most typically applied to live text to turn it into shapes, and doesn't do much else. It simply doesn't apply to image content. In fact, whenever you see it disabled, that indicates it can't be applied to the object(s) you have selected.

  • Createing album from Calendar

OK - newbie here. I just went thru a few thousand pictures and picked out 275 for my best of 2006 photos to make calendar for mother and also make DVD and photo book.
Unfortunately I did not create an album first and all of the pix are in a calendar folder. I cannot seem to select them all to copy to a new album. Looks like I may have to copy one at a time to the new album??
Please tell me there is a better way.
    Thanks in advance!

    SigV:
I'm afraid that's just what you're going to have to do. There's no way to add a keyword to those files to group them later. It's a shortcoming of iPhoto. Be sure to post a user suggestion at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Creating mobile me album from smart album

I've created a smart album of approximately 450 photos (my 5 star photos) from an original album of about 2,000 photos. When I try to publish a mobile me album from my smart album of 450, it includes all 2,000 photos and won't let me do it. How do I do this???

OK....I just tried working with an album that didn't have stacks, and I'm having the same problem. When I try and make a separate album, or mobile me album, with just the 5 star photos, it automatically includes all of the photos when creating the album. So I don't think that is always the problem.
Selecting a subset of images in an album and making a new album from just those images works as long as there are no stacks involved. Where did the images in the album come from?
Do this select a project that has no stacks in it. Note the number of images displayed at the bottom of the window. Select half note the number of images selected. Make a new album from the selection. How many images in the album?
Now in that album select half again and make an album, Again how many images in the new window?
I'm betting you still have stacks involved in this somewhere. You really need to step back and try the steps I've outlined. Start with a project with no stacks and see what you get.

Open your iPhoto Library, go to that particular album and verify that you can view the full sized version of each image by double clicking on them.  Report back with the results.

  • Am I crazy?  Creating new album from slideshow

It seems a bit strange, but i cannot figure out how to take an existing slideshow and create a new album from it. One of the more powerful features of the newer iPhoto is to take an existing album and quickly view full screen slideshow (including image file names), and to remove images from this mode.
I can't fathom then not being able to create a new album from that newly created slideshow. I must be wrong about this. Please, tell me that I'm wrong and that there's a simple way to do it...

Hi chris, there is no "create new album from selection" when you have a permanent slideshow. Others have asked and it might be a good feedback for iPhoto.
As a workaround you can select all and go to Photos/My rating and give them 1 star, or two or whatever. Then make a smart album whose "rating" is "whatever star/stars you chose. Now you can select all in the smart album and create an album from that selection.
In the future, start off with "on the fly" slideshows. Add and/or subtract the images to make it just right. When you are happy with the slideshow, then make it into a permanent slideshow. Now you will have the album and the permanent slideshow from that album.

  • IPhoto 2011. Created an album from different cameras (different filenames), placed pics in order in album but want to export into new folder on desktop in same order. Can I number the pics within iPhoto to reflect that order, or simply export in order?

iPhoto 2011. I have created an album from different cameras (different filenames), and placed pics in order in the iphoto album but want to export into a new folder on the desktop in that same order. Can I number the pics within iPhoto to reflect that order, or simply export in order?
    Thanks!

File -> Export, and note the options under File Name
    Another way:
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Acrobat 7.0.5 for Windows -- Problem creating a PDF from a TIFF image

I have a user who is attempting to create a PDF from a TIFF image using the Adobe PDF print driver (Acrobat 7.0.5). His computer is a 3.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM. His operating system is WinXP Pro SP2. The TIFF file he is trying to convert is about 2000 pages long. Is this even possible given the hardware and resources I've described?

Sorry, I should have been more explicit...The TIFF image is a multi-page image and is stored in a database here at our office. The user has a proprietary (internally-coded) viewer that's used to open the image from the database, and there's no way to save the image locally. The user wants to be able to search within the image, so he converts it to a PDF. Ordinarily, this works very nicely, but this is his first time trying to do it with an image of more than 1000 pages length.

  • Creating pdf from clipboard does not import images or formatting

Creating PDF from clipboard works perfect in acrobat X however in acrobat XI no images are imported and the text just defaults to times roman font. My wife uses acrobat for her craft patterns and copies from the web all the time with no issues in Acrobat X. She tried it on Acrobat XI and it just looks like garbage. The text is there but the images that were copied along with the text are not. I have examples that she did using the exact same clipboard in both X and XI.

    Bill@VT wrote:
I guess I must not understand how you are transferring the items to the clipboard. Is the browser the same one you used with AA X?
Yes, I used the same browser (Chrome) with AA X and AA XI.
    Bill@VT wrote:
When I did it with AA XI, I used the mouse (on a PC) to select the text and figures in my browser and copied that info to the clipboard (ctrl-C on the PC and I assume similar on the MAC).
Yes, the procedure for copying info to the clipboard is similar for a Mac and a PC. I select the info (in this case, text and graphics) with the mouse, and can copy it to the clipboard with either Command-C (Mac equivalent of ctrl-C), or by right-clicking on the highlighted info and choosing "copy" from the pop-up window.  I do not have to use Print Screen in conjunction with this procedure. If I use Print Screen, it copies everything that my monitor displays and the results of a paste are an image.
Is there something I am missing about getting the web page parts wanted to the clipboard? If you clip the items into a graphics packages, does the graphics show up as desired?
No, you are not missing anything. All of the web page parts are in the clipboard. The problem is that only the text is showing up when I use the create PDF from clipboard option in AA XI. I do not have a graphics package installed; however, if I paste the clipboard contents into Word, both the text and graphics show up.
I checked the PDF created with my AA XI and found the text as text and the the graphic as graphic, not simply a graphic as you suggested. Is it possible the graphic is shown with a place holder or just space for the graphic. If that is the case, check the preferences that you have "view large images" turned on.
As I explained ad nauseum, the PDF I try to create with AA XI using create PDF from clipboard does not include the graphics; it only has the text. I just checked the preferences and "view large images" is turned on. I could not find any other preference settings that would seem to help with the problem I am having.
I can paste the clipboard contents directly into Word and print the document to a PDF. When I do that, though, I usually have to spend a lot of time editing the Word document, because the contents are not in the same format. The paragraphs are usually squashed together, or the photos are too large and I have to change the size. This just takes up more time than I have to spend.
The bottom line is that it seems to me Adobe must have changed something in the Mac version of AA XI that causes it to not work the same way it does in AA X. The PC version is obviously okay, because you are able to get the feature to work.
I guess I am going to have to give up on this problem and stick with using AA X.
Thanks again for all your help.

  • I added a photo from camera roll to a created album, how can I delete that photo from camera roll and still keep photo in album

I added a photo from camera roll to a created album, how can I delete that photo from camera roll and still keep same photo in album?

You can't. It doesn't work that way.
the new album that you created doesn't contain a copy of the actual photo. It contains a pointer to that photo. If you delete it from the camera roll, you will delete it from the album that you created as well. Albums that you create on the iPad in the Photos app are for local organization only and cannot be transfer or imported to your computer, because there really are no photos in those albums
