Creating an Adaptive RFC Connector in RAR

Hi ,
We are trying to add a new ECC 6.0 system to our RAR monitored systems. We use GRC RAR SP8 Patch1
In the connector  config, the config guide says:
"SAP GRC Access Control 5.3 gives you the option of setting up SAP JCO connections instead of Adaptive RFC connections. We
recommend that you use Adaptive RFC for your first 21 connectors because they are more efficient than SAP JCO connectors"
So we want to create the new connector based on Adaptive RFC type. We have maintained the back end system in the SLD and created the JCO destinations for Metadata and Model on the GRC system. But the newly created system is not getting listed when trying to create a new connector (RAR -> Configuration -> Connectors -Create) for the back end .
Does it need any further config/set-up for the system to be availalble in the list?
Thanks & Regards,
Anil

Registred the server in service file and restarted server?
RFC service user OK? No block, suffitient authorization ?
Cheers,
Vit

  • Error while creating a Adaptive RFC Model

    Hi all,
    I am trying to create a Model using a Adaptive RFC Model, I assign a Model name and the logical system names, enter the details in SAP Logon Information for the Single server,here it gives me a Gateway error. What could be the issue here?
    NB: In the Host Name , I tried with both the Host name of the r/3 server and also with the SAProuter string ( as we have the server at other place) ,still it doesnt work. and I am able to login to the R/3 system from the SAPLogon GUI from my desktop normally.
    Is there any issue of the firewall related to this, if so whats the port number that should be opened so that i can connect to the r/3 system get the list of BAPIs present there into my Webdynpro application .
    Need help on this
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Lohi n Gopi ,
    I have checked out with the your given suggestion of trying with the host name as well as  IP address and also typing all the details,without copy pasting the details . In both the cases it gave the " Connect to gateway failed " error mesg.
    But one intersting thing here that i observered when trying with hostname, IP address, or SAProuter string is as follows .
    <b>with IP address</b>
    <i>Connect to SAP gateway failed
    Connect_PM GWHOST="ipaddress",GWSERV=sapgw10,ASHOST="ipaddress",SYSNR=10
    LOCATION CPIC(TCP/IP) on local host
    ERROR      patner not reached(host "ipaddress",service=3310)</i>
    <b>with SAProuterString</b>
    <i>Connect to SAP gateway failed

    Is there any firewall port blocking issue here ?if so , whats the port that needs to be opened ?

  • Creating Adaptive RFC model without logon name and pwd?

    Hi All,
    I have this requirement where when I log on to an application I need to get a mapped user name and pwd from EP and then connect to the R/3 system.
    However, you cannot create a Adaptive RFC model without username and password. So i needed to know if this can be done in some other way.
    Thanks,
    Malita

    hi
      To my  understading , you need  user and pwd created  for your portal and  call the RFC or Bapi .
      Hope this is possible .
      Creating  the  users and pwd for the portal  for  your application  is possible , but parallelly
      calling the RFC with same user name and pwd  i hope its not , as you have to deploy the application
      which created the userid and pwd , then call the RFC ,
       and for more you can provide more information what exactly is your requirement .

    Hi ,
    I think SLD,s/w Catalog and Creating Logical Systems were Configured,
    Go through the Following Steps Like,
    -- General Data, Enter the Client of the System and Client No. (JCo Connection is Pointing to)
    --J2EE Cluster, Select the J2EE Cluster you wish the JCo destination to be assigned
    -- Select the Destination Type, Either Application/Dictionary data
    -- Appl.Server, You may only select Servers/Logon Groups From the Drop down list that have first been defined as technical Systems in SLD.
    -- Message Server, Application Data JCo destination is connected must have atleast one logon group.( if this is not done ,use SMLG transaction code to create in SAP System)
    --Security, If you have selected connection Type as Application Data , then in the Security Screen you would appear Authentication Techniques and select a appropriate one .
    if you have selected connection type as a Dictionary meta data then provide User Name and Password
    If this is useful to you ,don't forget to award Points

  • Importing adaptive RFC model in NWDS CE 7.1 doesn't work

    Dear all,
    I am unable to create an adaptive RFC model in my Web dynpro DC in NWDS CE 7.1.
    This is what happends:
    I select create model from the web dynpro, fill in name and jco destinations on the first page and move to the second page where I fill in SAP login information.
    After clicking next I come to "Select RFC modules", but I never see the studio logging in to the server system. The result is that I dont find any function modules when i click search.
    I am new to NWDS 7.1 so I suppose there is a setting that I have missed.
    Have anyone else experienced the same problem and solved it?
    I currently have an old SAP system (NW04) and a new system (NWCE7.1). On my PC I have installed NWDS 04 and NWDS CE7.1. The old studio can connect to both the new and old backend system just fine but the new studio cant connect to any of them.
    I am very grateful for any help or pointers in the right direction.
    Sincerely,
    Richard Linnander

    Never mind. I solved this myself.
    It was caused by DLL-hell. I was running an old version of librfc32.dll that was for NWDS 04. Works fine with the version that comes fresh with install of NWDS CE 7.1

  • Changing the default logical system names for adaptive RFC models

    Hello,
    When I create an Adaptive RFC model the dialog that asks me to specify the model name, package, source folder, etc. has default values in the "Default logical system name for model instances" and "... RFC metadata".
    I know I can type in another name there but I'd like to change the default name to something that fits our naming conventions. Can I change that? If so, can someone tell me where?
    Thanks in advance!
    David.

    Suresh,
    Thank you for your response. However, that is not what I was looking for. Sorry if my post was not clear.
    I knew that I could change it AFTER the import. I also know that I can type in something else besides the default DURING the import.
    What I am asking is if there is a way to change some configuration setting so that the 'default' that comes up in the drop down DURING the import is something different than what comes 'out-of-the-box' with NWDS.
    Hope that clears up what I'm looking for.
    David.

  • Exception with Adaptive RFC Model: WDDynamicRFCExecuteException

    Hi All,
    I have created an Adaptive RFC Model and called the RFC in my Coding the standard approach that used to work before. Now, I keep receiving the following exception when executing the modelObject.execute() Method.
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.modelimpl.dynamicrfc.WDDynamicRFCExecuteException
    Does anybody know what going on? I am calling an RFC that works well and has been able to be called as an RFC before...
    Is this somemthing related to the framework? Do I need a supprt package or so? Am I doing soemthing wrong?
    Thanks, Johannes

    Hi,
    Place a break point in the BAPI in SAP and try to execute the application and see if the break point is triggered and check what is the output value passed back to  the application.  If this works fine then there should be no issue in the RFC side, else need to find out what is happening in the webdynpro application side.

  • Problem with Adaptive RFC Model.

    Hi.
    I have a problem with creating an Adaptive RFC Model.
    When i choose a function from function list, that appears, and click next, the model wizard display log information with following text:
    <b>[Warning]:     Creating a connection with Metamodel language <en> failed.  Continuing with language <ru>
    [Fatal]:     com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: Missing R3NAME=... or ASHOST=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx
    [Info]: .................</b>
    The SLD server and SLD bridge is running.
    How this can be fixed?
    Thank you.

    Hi
    Open SAPLogon. Select the server profile say "Dev" and click on groups. In the window that appears enter the 3 letter id as System id. This you would get when you logon to SAP and see the right hand bottom corner. It would be a 3 letter "XXX". If not ask your basis administrator.
    In the Message server space enter the Hostname or ip address (try both in case one of them doesnt work) of your R/3 server. Click on Generate List. You should get some groups appearing in the view below.
    If it works then your message server is working fine. Let me know if that helps you.

  • One adaptive RFC Model and Multi Backend System.

    Hi All,
    I am trying to fetch data from multi backend system by using an adaptive RFC model.
    It is not tidy to create multi model for a RFC function to fetch data from multi SAP system, because we have dozens of SAP systems.(over 40)
    So, I would like to switch to multiple SAP systems with an adaptive RFC model at runtime.
      1 model(Same Function) -
    > System A
    > System B
    > System C
    Is there any sample or tutorial about this sort of senario?
    Thanks in advance.

    JeongEog,
    You may use SAP java Connector for doing that. Refer the following links for the step-by-step approach.

  • Dynamic JCo Connection with Adaptive RFC Model 2

    Hi gurus,
    I'm trying to dinamically change a model data connector inside my web dynpro. I'm using an Adaptive RFC Model 2 to communicate with the R/3 backend. I've found that is possible to change the connector modifiyng the code inside the web dynpro. In detail I've found this example:
    IWDDynamicRFCModel model1 = (IWDDynamicRFCModel) WDModelFactory.getModelInstance(Model1.class);
    I put this code into wdDoInit method but I get the following error:
    "<comp_name>.wdDoInit failed to create or init instance of model 'model_name' in scope NO_SCOPE with instanceId 'null'"
    Furthermore I've used the deprecated Adaptive RFC Model and when I instantiate a model, ModelName m=new ModelName(), I see that the methods m.setJcoClient(client) and m.setSystemName(systemName) are visible, while when I try to do the same with Adaptive RFC Model 2, with my model m, the methods before there aren't.
    So this is my question: is it possible to change data connector dinamically with Adaptive RFC Model 2?
    Thanks a lot

    Dear Lukinho,
    You may try this ;
    try {
    IWDJCOClientConnection clientCon =  WDSystemLandscape.getJCOClientConnection("<name of the JCO connection>");
    String clientName      = clientCon.getClientName();
    String lang          = clientCon.getLanguage();
    String passowrd          = clientCon.getPassword();
    String sysID          = clientCon.getSystemIdentifier();
    String user          = clientCon.getUser();
    //etc...
    } catch (WDSystemLandscapeException e1) {
    // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    e1.printStackTrace();
    I got this code from the thread   [Multiple Client Logon in JCO   |Re: Multiple Client Logon in JCO;

  • Using an Adaptive RFC Model from JSP

    I'm trying to use an Adaptive RFC Model I created for use in our Web Dynpros from a Portal Application project. I've created 2 DCs:
    1. A Web Dynpro DC, only containing the imported Adaptive RFC Model. The model has been added to the public parts.
    2. A Portal Application DC, with the model DC added as a DC usage (along with the other required DCs)
    Now, everything appears to work from inside NWDS. The dot operator works while editing my JSPDynPage class, and everything builds fine, but when I deploy and test in the portal, I get "package not found" errors on the actual JSP. I assume this is because the JSP is compiled at run-time. How do I expose these classes to the JSP compiler?
    It's seems like using the same method to call BAPIs in Web Dynpros and Java iViews would be a good practice following SAP's "reusable code" policy, so there must be a way to do it...

    Jonathan,
    Adaptive RFC Model works correctly only when running inside WebDynpro container. JSP runs outside container (in regular J2EE WebApplication container).
    The error you receive is due to missing run-time references to container classes.
    Actually, what you are trying to do is dead end, sorry.
    Use SAP Enterprise Connector instead of Adaptive RFC model. Generated connector classes works from any environment. Also they are sooo similar to Adaptive RFC that you'll even not mention a difference.

  • Creating multiple connection factories from deployed RAR

    Hi
              I'm using WL Server V8.1 sp4 and have successfully deployed my Connector
              Module (RAR) using the Builder tool.
              Within the Builder I can specify default connection properties in the
              deployment descriptor. What I want though is the ability to define
              multiple connection factories with different properties without having
              to deploy/redeploy the RAR for every different connection configuration.
              I can't believe there is a 1-to-1 mapping between the RAR and connection
              factory settings. I've seen that there's a <ra-link-ref> tag available
              in the weblogic-ra.xml but I can't see how to use this?
              Any advice on how to get this working would be greatly appreciated.
              Cheers
              Chris

    Hi
              I've had some success but am still confused by the way WLS requires
              second and subsequent connection factories to be created.
              It appears you create a CF within the weblogic-ra.xml deployment
              descriptor using the <map-config-property> tags. All other properties
              are inherited from the settings within ra.xml (we have them set blank).
              If there is no weblogic-ra.xml then a default is created at RAR deploy
              time. We can modify settings and redeploy the resource adapter using the
              supplied Builder tool. There appears to be a limit on what is possible
              with this tool to create CF instances though. It doesn?t seem possible
              to enter config properties here to appear within the weblogic-ra.xml.
              There are fields to allow entry of the CF name and the RA link reference
              though. (This seems strange that it doesn?t provide full flexibility).
              In order to create a CF a certain amount of manual work is required. You
              need to hand modify the weblogic-ra.xml to specify the connection
              properties you want. Then the file has to be added to RAR file for
              deployment using the jar command.
              A second or subsequent CF must also be prepared in a similar way ? the
              properties are defined in weblogic-ra.xml but this time there is no need
              to redeploy a complete RAR file. We can link to the defaults and classes
              provided in the original deployment. This is done using the
              <ra-link-ref> and specifying the connection-factory-name of the original
              RAR. This new RAR only needs ra.xml and weblogic-ra.xml to deploy so we
              can remove any jar files containing code. However, this cannot be done,
              it seems, from the Builder tool.
              I am concerned it seem to be a lot of manual work and, in particular,
              editing of the rar files we provide to our customers. Does anyone know
              of a better way of achieving multiple CF instances without going through
              this process?
              Regards
              Chris

  • Adaptive RFC 2 gives error: com/sap/ide/jco/service/internal/R3Service

    Hi,
    I've run into the following problem about NWDS. This happens as I create a Model. It appears there is a new version of the Adaptive RFC Model, which is called Adaptive RFC 2 Model.
    1. Right click on Models, and select Create.
    2. Double Click on Adaptive RFC 2 Model
    3. The error pops up. It says "An error has occurred. See error log for more details. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError". Then if you click details you get "An error has occurred. See error log for more details. com/sap/ide/jco/service/internal/R3Service "
    If you know which log to have a look, or what this error is about please let me know urgently. Any help if much appreciated.
