Creating An Audio CD in FCP

Can I create an audio CD by editing the sound in FCP?
History: A client was given an audio cd of his show, who in turn, has asked me to create copies. There is only one long track that fills up the entire CD. The client is wondering if "chapters" can be added so that a listener can go straight to a certain part of the CD without fast forwarding.
Is FCP the application to do this? I think if I import the audio into FCP, I can create and export separate audio files to iTunes, then create a CD. I am guessing to this process, since I've never done this.
Or can "track" breaks be added, similar to adding chapter breaks in video, without breaking up the large audio files into small ones?
Please let me know if there is another discussion area for this, since I am a bit stumped.
Thanks,
Gary

you could use FCP but i'd be more inclined to use Soundtrack or another audio editing application.
in fact you should be able to break the track up into mutliple segments just using QT player, by selecting smaller portions and exporting those as self-contained files

  • Don't wanna load audio plugin in FCP

I don't wanna load audio plugin in FCP 5 (audio plugin from Protools and Logic that sharing plugin)
Who know how to unload that third party audio plugin ?
    Thank you for every answer.

    Version is FCP-X 10.1 with OSX 10.7.2
I use the Ctl-Shift-S to detach the audio from the video, then I can create a single audio-only storyline for the whole project (grouping and using Cmd-G) and add transitions etc to it. It is sometimes difficult to get it to work because the usual "snap" function which works well for video doesn't always work accurately enough for audio (much shorter "frames") so you sometimes get a few samples overlap, a few samples gap between clips or a few samples of a spurious audio clip between clips which are invisible except at sample zoom - and the transition complains of "not enough media". I have had to learn various tricks to get this sorted out!
However, before I go any further - I have found the problem. If I replace the clips in the audio storyline from the original media then the transition works properly. It's something to do with what I was doing to the clips before I broke them apart.
Before I learnt this "separate audio storyline" procedure I was detaching every other audio clip, creating overlaps and using the fade handles. The projects where I used this technique originally, then converted to the "audio-only" storyline are the ones having the trouble. If I start from the raw audio/video storyline, detach the audio and make the separate "audio-only" storyline directly then the transitions work perfectly as they should. If I have previously fiddled with the fade handles, overlaps etc then some of the transitions don't work in the new storyline!

  • Is there a way to create an AUDIO alert when my MacBook Air (Mavericks) battery runs low (say 10%)?

Is there a way to create an AUDIO alert when my MacBook Air (Mavericks) battery runs low (say 10%)?  I often miss the visual power percentage in the top bar, so would like an audio alert as well.

    For global alerts, yes:
There is no need to do anything before the alert appears, and the MBA will not lose data should it go to sleep. If it goes to sleep at 0% you still have several hours to plug it in before it shuts down.
I wouldn't even bother displaying the percentage value.

  • How can I create an audio CD from the audio only portion of my iMovie?

Hello, I brought in about 50 min of Digital video into iMovie, I separated (split) the audio from the video, I unlocked the audio, I deleted the video, and now I want to just create an audio CD from the audio that is left.
Can I do this? and if yes how? If I can not, how can I create an Audio CD from on my G5 off a tape on my digital camcorder?
    Any help would be apprecaited.

    This is how:
    Go to:
    'File'
    'Share'
    'Quicktime'
    'Expert Settings'
'Audio as AIFF' or pick your brand of compression.
Drag and drop the resulting file into iTunes.
    Enjoy!
P.S. - You didn't need to delete the video but I think that'll be okay.

  • Stereo Audio in from FCP to DVDSP

I can't seem to figure out how to create stereo audio when compressing from FCP5.
    My workflow...
I export my timeline using compressor
I pick and export such as DVD 150 minutes best
I choose all so that I have MPEGS, AIFF and Dolby AC3
    I generally don't change settings
Once my files are compressed I drag the AC3 file into the timeline.
There is every possiblity that I am doing it wrong. I've winged my way through DVDSP with little training and a complete lack of understanding of the manual--dang that thing is hard to make sense of!
    Thanks for the help!

    michelle:
your export seems to be correct. when you create a track in DVDSP, you can include either the AIFF version of the audio or the AC3. AC3 takes up less space on the DVD, so you can use it to save space on the final output or just to lower your overall bit rate.
now that you've got your assets, create a new DVDSP project, and go to the Assets tab and click the Import... button. select all three media items. display the default track and you should then be able to drag the audio and video into its timeline.
however, if that's not working, why is that? does the audio appear (in green i think) in the track's timeline and when you play it back you just don't hear anything? or does the track reject the action of dragging the AC3 media into it?
also note that the upper portion of the track is for video, the lower parts are for the audio (primary audio, then going down the list for alternate languages).
if none of these are your problem, post more details so we can get you fixed up!
    later,

  • How to create a DVD from several FCP projects?

I'm strugeling to create a DVD. I feel like a fool because it used to go so easy with my old computer but with my new Mac it doesn't seem to work.....
    What I'm doing:
    - Footage MTS 1920x1080, 24Mbps .MOD files
    - I upload them from my camera into FCP
    - I make projects (let say 20 different ones)
    - I want to put all the projects on 1 DVD as seperate 'chapters/ icons'
    - With FCP I can only put one project at the time on a DVD, so that doesn't work
    - I bought DVD creater to put the exports of FCP on a DVD, problem I can not create a export out of FCP that will be recognised by dvd creater.
I know that I will be able to convert my FCP export into something else by some programme. But this is a work around, I don't really want to do such a extra step because the quality will be lower.
Ik hope someone has a solution for me!

    Hello T,
I have just exported the slideshow from iPhoto to the iPhoto Slideshow Folder, opening iDVD.
I selected create a new project as EJ3 in MoMs folder hit CREATE and iDVD quit, disappears,
THE iDVD icon is still active on the doc but how ever it is simply GONE,
this is the second time i tried this. I will restart the computer and come back and try it again.
OK. I restarted the Mac, opened iDVD, selected MAGIC iDVD and in the movie section EJ3 was no where to be found.
I will now close iDVD and try create a new project, saved MY GREAT DVD to the desktop.
Cannot find EJ3 or the other exported iPHOTO slide shows under Elizabeth.....
    they are here
but I can't select, or import, or open in iDVD.
I am totally lost and thinking that this can't be done for some unknown reason.
I am thinking if iMOVIE is the way to go OR if I should delete iDVD and reinstall it from the iLIFE disk.
I am sorry for all this failure.
    at a loss right now.

  • How to create an audio role for any library in FCPX

Does anyone know if there is a way to create an audio role in one library and have it as a saved preference that you can use in any library?
Or do you have to re-create the roles for every library?

Looks like this has been resolved in the latest update of FCPX 10.2

  • Creating Alternate Audio Streams

    Hi guys,
I've worked with DVD Studio Pro before and I'm currently working on this project where I'm supposed to make a DVD that will play the film in either standard or dolby 5.1 audio. I've been trying to figure out how to make it use alternate video streams without just making two sets of the film in its entirety and I just can't understand the manual at all with all the talk about stories and whatnot. Can anybody tell me in simpler terms how I can create a dvd menu that will allow the viewer to choose to play the film in either normal stereo audio or dolby 5.1 audio?

Create both audio streams. Drop them into tracks 1 and 2. Now you have 1 video track with 2 audio tracks the user will be able to choose from while the video is playing. When you create a menu button, the button Inspector allows you to not only set a buttons target but will also allow you to set which stream to play.

  • Phantom audio pops in FCP 7

I'm a working on an FCP 7 project with 10 audio tracks and am experiencing a phantom pop at a specific place in the timeline.
Here's the weird part: I can not isolate the pop. When I turn off any one of the tracks, the pop disappears. It doesn't matter which track I turn off, the pop is gone. The pop also does not appear on any of the original tracks. I've tried replacing each and every one from the viewer to no effect.
Also, if I play 15 frames before the pop, I don't hear it.
When I output there's a colossal sound explosion at the pop point in the timeline.
I've done the obvious things, trashed preferences. Deleted audio waveform cash and render files. But nothing works.
I'm losing my mind and have to finish on Tuesday. Any help would be very much appreciated.
FCP 7 and 10.6 both up to date. Quad-core MacPro with 16G RAM

    The likely cause is either:
    A) you have audio sources with different sampling rates mixed in the timeline. If this is the case, resample everything to 48khz/16bit.
    or
    B) You have overwhelmed the ability of FCP to mixdown the audio in Real Time. If this is the case, do an audio mixdown (look it up in FCP help) and/or increase the number of audio tracks for real time audio mixing in FCP's preferences. With 10 tracks used, I'd increase it to 12 or more. The setting can be found in the User Preferences>General section.

  • Premiere CS5 Captures .mov on mac but creates four Audio lines in Timeline...

    Hello,
when I capture a video from my sony camera it captures it in the *.mov format on my mac. Thats ok, but when I insert the captured video in the timeline, it does not use the Audio line directly below the video line for the audio track, but creates 4 audio lines (audio 4, 5, 6, 7) and puts the tracks on them.
What do I have to do to make Premiere inserting the audio track just like in other formats as AVI, MP4, MPG etc. into the audio 1 directly below the video 1 track?
I woukld be very thankful if anyone could help me
    greets
    Alex

    Thanks
You're right, it records 4 Mono Tracks.
I captured it right now on a Win7 PC and found out that there it shows one Video Track and one Stereo Audio Track on Audio 1.
    I have made two screenshots:
This is how it looks like on my mac, when I capture something and put it into the timeline:

This is a screenshot from my PC:
