Creating an itunes account for my 9 year old so he can facetime

My 9 year old just got an ipod touch and wants to do facetime. I realize I need to set up his own apple id. I tried to do this and it says he does not meet the minimum age. Is it best to just lie about his age in order to set up his facetime account or is there a better way?
Currently his ipod is set up under my account but I also have facetime and hew wants to chat with me. Please advise.

You do not need an Apple ID. You can use any valid email address. If it is not your Apple ID you will have to verify the email address by replying to an email they send you.

Just what do you want to do?
In iTunes you can go to Store and sing out of existing account and sing into your account.
You can sync music and videos from the other computer if you sync by the manual method.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. You have to enter a birthdate that results in an age of at least 13 years.

Why can't I set up an account for my 7 year old to redeem his gift card? Is there a way I can put it on my account but NOT use it for my purchases?

If I want to purchase a song now, it will use HIS gift card to do it. I can't see any way to sidestep it so that I can charge my credit card until the credit on my account is all used up. I would like him to have his own account with the gift card so that I do not end up using it. Any way to do this?
