Creating and ordering photo book

I would like to use my ipad photos to create a photo book for my mother for Christmas. I need to have an app that walks me through this.  Last year I used my PC and Walgreens but this year I have no pc and Walgreens does not support nonflash.  What do I do?  Can anyone help? I looked at the iPhoto app but it talks about using a Mac and not Ipad.  My mother is 83 and needs to hold the book in her hands.  Thanks bunches!  Sallie

Hi Dear Salt,
You have lots of free apps for that.
However you will have to put time and
effort if you really want a cool result.....
Here there is a small example of a video
explaining how to create your desired album !!

really hope your Mum will enjoy your work - and Merry Christmas !!

  • How can i import and order photo books from older iPhoto versions?

I have made a photobook which i have not ordered at apple yet. It's on another macbook still running iphoto 07 (unable to update iphoto, because to old for Mavericks)... Somehow i can't import this album on my laptop running iphoto 9.5.1 and order it from here...
    Does anyone have solution?

Read again - the word "import" does not appear in either answeer - you never ever import one iPhoto library into another one
books do not actually exist - they are simply database entries - so you have to move the entire iphoto library
1 - rename it on the source machine
2 - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled)
3 -  drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac
4 - depress the opeion key and launch iPhoto on the new mac
5 -  select the library with the book, convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward
    - be sure to
Before ordering your book preview it using this method -http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
there may be differences in the book due to a new system

  • Can I make and order photo books using iPhoto on my iPad?

I would like to make photo books for family and friends, but all I have is an iPad. Will it do the same thing?

No idea - this is the iPhoto for Mac forum - read the Apple info on iPhoto for the iPad and ask questions in the iPhoto for IOS forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/app_store/iphoto_for_ios

  • Ordering photo books

I'm interested in upgrading to iPhoto11, mainly for the ability to create and print photo books, calendars, etc.  Does anyone know who handles the printing?  In other words, how is using iPhoto any different from creating a photo book on Shutterfly's site, or Kodak gallery's site, etc?
    Thanks for your help.
    Shelly

No - I think Kodak does but that is not information Apple shares  --  and it might be different tomorrow
As to how it is different - it is Apple, not ShutterFly or Kodak Gallery - you should use the one that fits your need the best and is the easiest for you to use

  • Create / order photo books

Just received my photo book from Mpix. Looks fantastic. Sure would be a
lot easier if I could create and order these photo books from within LR
(similar to creating a web gallery) without having to export and use another
application. I look forward to the eminent release of the LR SDK so that LR
can be extended with this and many other useful enhancements.
    Best,
    Christopher

    > Am I missing something here?
Yes, I think so. You claim every print company has it's own requirements.
I do not disagree. That's why the SDK is needed, so that each print company
may supply their own LR plugin. To create my Mpix photo book, I downloaded
the Mpix photo book application and used that. After the LR SDK is
released, rather than use company-specific applications, companies will have
the opportunity to develop company-specific plugins, thus allowing us to
    work within LR.
Think about the vast number plugins for AE and Photoshop. Many of them are
fanctastic, and seemlessly extend the AE / Photoshop architectures. That is
why I eagerly await the release of the LR SDK. It will allow third-party
developers to extend the LR architecture, and each of us can pick and choose
which extensions / plugins we want to use.
    Best,
    Christopher

Mac OS X does not offer a Clean install option.    If by clean install you mean erasing the system, that is not recommended unless:
    1. You bought a used/refurbished Mac and there is software on it without any accompanying discs, and it is older than July 20, 2011 in model release:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
Or if it is at or newer, then erase it if it has applications installed that would not have been prebundled with it and you have no CDs for those applications.
You don't want someone else's software keys, or accounts, or to be running unlicensed software.  At and newer Macs offer a built-in internet restore for their software with a command-R boot that lets you erase the system with Disk Utility, and then install from the internet the latest operating system.
    2. You have a hardware issue and want to eliminate possible software issues as the cause when troubleshooting a problem all at once.
Issues affecting a new install have to be isolated before you attempt it.   Unless you know it is software or hardware, erasing may only mask other problems.

  • I am very new to Macs and iPhoto so this may be an idiot's question, but I have just created my first photo book and want to buy it, but the "buy book" button is not highlighted and when I click it nothing happens. Is there some step I am missing? Thanks!

Is there some step I am missing or some connection I need? I am on the internet. Thanks!

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.
Have a look at Edgar's graphical enhanced manuals, the explain very detailed how things work and why. You can buy them as iBooks from the iBook store or directly from the page:

  • Is it possible to reorder an iPhoto book 2 years later? My hard drive crashed and the photo book is no longer in my iPhoto but Apple printed it for me before the crash.  Would Apple still be able to print another copy?

For future books you might consider doing what I do:  create a separate library for each book andcopy the photos for the book from your working library to the book library with iPhoto Library Manager.
When the book is completed and ordered burn the library package to a CD, DVD or external HD to archive it so it's available for editing and reordering at a later date if needed.

  • HT204364 Help on Ordering Photo Book

I submitted a 62 page photo book for publication and after paying and, thereafter, gathering done, the order seems to get stuck in download at about the 1/2 way mark (according to Apple's completion bar graph; I know not necessarily accurate).  Left it going 2x overnight and still stuck in the morning.  Checked for updates to software.  Turned compueter off and tried again.  My internet speed is good.  I have ordered photo books in past and orders were completed without a problem.  Thoughts?
By the way, it seems ridiculous that I can't ask Apple these questions for free when I am spending money to purchase products from them (I have three books for holidays lined up).  Is there a way when the problem is a purchase problem and not a computer problem?

Here are a some other tricks that helped users get their books ordered. Maybe one will work for you:

    Re: book upload fails
    Nov 30, 2013 3:02 PM (in response to pablo123)
Just got off the phone with apple support.  If the photo book completes the assembly process but fails during the upload process the problem is in their overloaded servers. They just started a free shipping promotion for the holidays which has increased the traffic dramatically. I bought a calendar a week ago and it went right through. I'm going to try again during less peak times.
    Next:
Here's a fix that worked for some users:
Make sure this checkbox is checked in the System/Sharing preference pane:
If it is, uncheck it and then recheck and try ordering again.
    And lastly:
    Quit iPhoto.
From the Finder menu bar, choose Go > Utilities to access your Utilities folder (or press Shift-Command-U).
In your Utilities folder, open Keychain Access.
Find the "NetServices" entry in your Keychain Access window.
Select the "NetServices" entry and press the delete key.
Reopen iPhoto and attempt to place your order again.
You should be prompted to enter your account information if you deleted the Keychain entry successfully.
After entering your account information, you should be able to complete your order.
    Happy Holidays

  • Iphoto won't  transfer to order photo book

I get a fault trying to order a photo book. It says "An export error occured while finalizing the photo book." Error: (null)

Preview your book. One of the photos may not be printable. See this for how to make a preview:
iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
If making a preview should fail, try to identify and remove any photo that is causing problems.
Then boot into  Safe Mode, and order the book while still in Safe Mode.
Keep the Preview for reference, until the book has been delivered.

  • How do I create and move photos to a new folder on the iphone4?

How do I create and move photos to a new folder on the iphone4?

The way I do it is through iTunes.  First you have to have to import or already have the photos in your computer where you have iTunes and sync your phone.  When you have your phone connected and iTunes open click on the iphone under "devices" in the left sidebar list - then over to the right select Photos then Sync Photos and probably best to check selected folders unless you want them all, then choose the photo folders you want.  You have to have your photos in folders for multiple folders to be created in your phone, the names will be the same as the folders in your computer.  Alternately you can sync from one of your photo programs if they are listed as options and they will go to the phone in the structure you have your photos in in that program.
Hope this helps... There may be other ways and other third-party programs for doing this but I haven't looked...

  • Problem ordering photo books and calanders???

every time i try setting up an i photo account to order a book or calendar it doesnt let me go past the 3rd step. the step after i enter my credit card info. Error comes up saying it won't let me conect and to check my network conection??? I have internet conection and tried to set up at 3 different locations...
    Anyone one know the problem????
    Thanks
    <edited by host>

I have been trying to upload my calendar since last week - I've tried so many times that my credit card company blocked by account because Apple received so many authorizations on my account. I got my credit card unblocked - I had AT&T check my internet service - I reviewed each and every page, each and every photo, reduced all file sizes, and even tried a different layout and I cannot get the calendar to upload......I get to about 5 mb of my 24 mb calendar and it says to retry. It mentions an error with uploading a photo once in awhile, but I cannot find what it would be and I even deleted each unused photo from the calendar's library. I printed each layout to a pdf files so that I have a backup and I guess I may end up at Kinko's. I have NEVER had these problems in past years and as the Dec. 18th deadline approaches, I'm totally stressed with this project because I had planned to change birthday/anniv entries and do at least 3 more calendars!! ANY suggestions would be much appreciated!!

  • Text disappears when previewing/ordering photo books - help!

I've made a photo book in iPhoto but when I try to preview it or convert to a pdf it gives me an error message and then creates the book without any text. I'm afraid to order it in case the problem appears in the final edition - the text is very important. Any ideas how to solve the problem?
I've ordered several photo books in the past and never had this problem.

Sorry to string out this thread but I have the answer. Apple provided me this information and it works. hope it helps your problem, too:
    1) Open iPhoto.
    2) Select the book from the Source list on the left.
    3) Choose Print from the File menu.
    4) Click the Preview button on the bottom left. This will create a portable document format (PDF) file and display the file using the Preview application.
    5) Verify that the text is displayed.
    6) If the text is displayed correctly, and if you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. You may skip the rest of these steps.
    7) If the text is not displayed, close the PDF file and quit iPhoto.
    8) While in the Finder, choose Home from the Go menu. Open the Library folder, then open the Preferences folder. Locate the file called "com.apple.iphoto.plist" and drag it to the desktop. This will reset the iPhoto preferences to the default settings.
(Please note that if the Library is located on a separate partition or hard disk, you may need to point iPhoto to the Library location when you reopen iPhoto. You can do this by holding Option while opening iPhoto.)
    9) Reopen iPhoto and preview the book using steps 2 through 5 above. If you are satisfied with the book, close the PDF file, return to iPhoto, and click the Buy Book button. Then drag com.apple.iphoto.plist to the trash, as it may have been causing the issue.
