Creating big reports in bi publisher

hi,
I am new to bipublisher and need help regarding creating big reports in bipublisher. reports with like 1 lakh and above rows. I am connect to target database using jdbc connection and from there I am query's the target table on another database using dblink. The table over dblink has more than 1 lakh rows.
when i run the query in sqlplus prompt, I get the records almost within a second, it starts scrolling over my screen. However when I run it from bi-publisher, it shows processing for much time and then displays error as " error retriving data xml"
Please help.

Set to TRUE: Enable scalable feature of XSLT processor

This will help you run the report regardless the number of rows being returned.
Though be warned it will consume most of your server resources.

Unable to create a report in bi publisher. When we tried to create a report abcd, then it is giving the below error.
Operation failed: /abcd/abcd.xdo.
When we tried to create a report with the existing name, it is saying
An object with the same name already exists: /crm/crm.xdo
I can say this is not any permissions problem, I have logged inwith Administrator user.

I would think you can in most cases - but there is no automated tool.
Steps I would take is
1) create a new report with the parameters shown in the dashboard.
2) Add a query with the logical SQL from each answer report.
3) Add where conditions based on parameters
4) create a BI Publisher report in the word template based on this data.

Creating pdf report from xml publisher report

Hi,
I'm newbie to xmlpublisher env.
We've a report in Oracle 11i developed in unix shell script and run as concurrent program generating check details which will be printed on checks.
I was asked to migrate this report into R12 in pdf format.They provided rtf template and xml data.I installed xml publisher desktop.I would like to know how I can create pdf template,if necessary changing the position of fields on the template.

Hi Kiran,
Sorry to say, but no you can not use the desktop or standalone edition for integration with EBS.
In your case there are 2 alternatives for you:
1) Update the Unix shell script so it's ok for R12 (it did a good job for a long time on 11i)
2) Leave the unix script and redesign for BI Publisher (ebs edition)
Both are taking the same effort in my opinion, only since you moved to R12 it's a good learning moment to get to know the strength of BIP.
Since you task is to modify the standard Oracle solution, which i guess is an rtf template provided download the MS Word plugin and adjust the template

BI Publisher Javascript error when creating a report

Hello,
I am trying to create a report in BI Publisher and the following comes up:
Message JavaScript Error: Failed to load: io/catalog/read-report
Supplemental Detail fileName: http://<hostname>/xmlpserver/js/xdo_rel.js?cacheBuster=53
lineNumber: 1
I am stuck with this error and cannot find anything about it in the internet. I used to be able to create a Report in BI Publisher. On the other hand when I try to edit an existing report, I can do so without any issues.

Ok, so...
The funny thing is that it didn't work the first time I tried to change the name of my column, and now it works !
So it's right that 2 columns can't have the same alias, I'm sorry, I'm new even with the SQL, it's a long story...

If you are referring to the data templates or format templates in Oracle Apps 11i you can not delete them. You can only "end date" them.

check in your Report definition if there's a parameter defined as Type MENU but without a corresponding LOV.

Adding a pivot table while creating report in BI publisher

Hi all,
I have been working on OBIEE and i need to create a multipage report. I have created a report in BI Dashboard using pivot table and i like to create the same pivot table (as pdf report) by using BI publisher.
But i am unable to add pivot table in the rtf file that is used as template.
When i am creating a template in rtf format, it has only three option either you can add table or form or Cross tab. I have tried to add the pivot table but i didn't find any way to add that.
Pls suggest me to solve this.

Creating Dependent Valueset in BI Publisher Report

Hi,
I need to make dependent valueset for ex: there are 2 parameters called Supplier name and Supplier site code. As Supplier name is the first parameter then I want to display supplier_site_code related to selected supplier. In Oracle Apps this task was achieved by using :$FLEX$ function, how can i achieve this in BI Publisher? Please suggest.
Also in order to make a LOV, can i use the same LOV for both the parameters (Supplier name and Supplier site code)? The query for the LOV will be
select vendor_name, vendor_site_code from po_vendors a, po_vendor_sites b
where a.vendor_id = b.vendor_id
Now if i attach this LOV with both the parameters (Supplier name and Supplier site code) and expecting the correct values. How can i achieve it?

Hi,
OK..I will try to do that. But here i am facing another problem. When i complete creating report and click on view to see the result, the data model from report is automatically deleted and hence parameters, LOVs everything. the only that remains is report name!!! i have already created few reports but they are working fine. suddenly it started acting this way. Please suggest.
