Creating browser shortcuts on the playbook desktop

Is it possible to create a browser shortcut to a web page on the playbook desktop (in the All, Favorites section etc).  From the browser on my BB Torch, I can click the menu button, and select   "Add to home screen", but I don't see this functionality on the playbook.
I also noticed that when creating a bookmark in the browser on the playbook, I can't see to find how you can rename the bookmark before saving it.  Just an example,  if you go to http://www.cnet.com and save the bookmark, the bookmark shows up on the bookmark screen with the text "Product reviews amd p.."   This is not very helpful, RIM please fix this.

I probably should have phrased it differently.  On my Blackberry Torch, I can go to a web page in the the browser, click on the menu button, then select "Add to home screen" which puts an icon on my home screen which points directly to the website.    I could save the page as a bookmark on my phone instead of creating an icon on my home screen, but I find it a lot easier just to click on the icon on my home screen which takes me to the page.
Instead of having to search through a lot of bookmarks in the browser, it would be a lot easier if RIM added the above functionality  to the playbook, similar to the way it is on the BB Torch and other Blackberries.

Make absolutely certain that FireFox is designated as your default browser.
Do this: Tools / Options / Advanced / Check Now / correct the setting
OR right click on any shortcut icon / Open With / Choose Default Program / select desired Browser / check Always... box / OK

  • How do I create a shortcut of the Macintosh HD onto my desktop

I have been trying to create a shortcut/ dragging icon onto desktop of the internal hardrive so it permantely on my desktop.  ...it keeps telling me that the folder "Macintosh HD" can't be moved into one of its subfolders???  But my last mac I could....I have nothing on my desktop so cannot understand why..help please!!!

Go to Finder - Preferences - General and check the boxes of everything you want to be shown on your Desktop.
The Desktop itself is a Folder that is on the 'Macintosh HD' and therefor you cannot drag the Macintosh HD icon onto the desktop.

    Hi there
This post may be under the wrong section, if you are a new Mac user, then you most likely have an Intel based Mac, not a PPC. And also, you may want to not write IN CAPS as it usually indicates yelling in a forum environment
    1. You cannot Cut & Paste on a Mac, you may Copy & Paste, if you want to Cut & Paste (CMD + X) you can download MoveAddict from the Mac App Store.
    2. EDIT: Sorry, I thought you meant Application shortcut - do what he said \/ \/ \/
    Hope that helps

  • Creating a Shortcut on a Mac Desktop

Hi everyone. I'm sure this has a very simple answer, but me being a newbie to using a
Mac computer, I need some help.  I've set up a server for my home network with a
    Static IP of 192.168.2.10 .
It was simple to create shortcuts for my computer and my sister's, because I've used
Microsoft since it was DOS, and my sister's is Windows XP.  I simply created a shortcut
and then typed in the network address, it being "\\192.168.2.10\Music" in Windows.
But my mom has a Mac, and I need to create an alias (I think it's called) that would lead
to the server from it.  I've searched all through the internet, and all I can find is something
    to the effect of this:
    1. Launch your Finder and look for the program that you want to create the alias for.
    2. Highlight this file and select "Make Alias".
    3. Drag the Alias to the desktop.
My problem is that there is not an icon displayed that links to the server.
Is there some kind of Properties box where I can manually enter the network path?

    Hi,
First off, putting stuff (links/aliases, files, folders) on a Mac Desktop is not good practice, because it leads to some extra work on the CPU, since the Desktop is a folder like others, OS X will index all its content every time your Mom starts her Mac.
This said, the best way to make an alias easy to use is to place it in the Dock via drag-n-drop, not on the Desktop. If placed in the Dock, your alias will always be within reach. All you have to do is locate the server folder you want to share in the Finder, and drag it to rightmost part of the Dock, where there are already some folders such as Applications, Documents, Downloads, etc...
Alternately, you can also create a new Shared item in the left pane of your main Finder window. In the Finder preferences, you can also choose to show all connected servers on the Desktop, which can come in handy too.
You may have to restart the Finder (or reboot the Mac, or just log out and back in) for the latter to take effect.
Oh, I almost forgot: you can also copy and paste the folder in question in the Desktop folder (left pane in the Finder main window), and it'll appear on the Desktop itself.

  • Creating titles (shortcuts) within the DVD menu

    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this post.
I recently made a DVD for a client, the dvd was 9mins long and contained 6 different titles within the 1 sequence (main video body). The client has come back asking whether or not i can create a DVD with the 6 titles as options on the main DVD menu for their convenience.
I moderately new to editing/ mac as everything this entails. At the moment i am thinking that i will need to restructure the footage so that the 6 titles have their own sequences which i can then import into idvd individual and burn onto 1 dvd... Is there a much easier way without having to restructure the footage?
    Hope this makes sense,
    Thanks

You will need to make those 6 different videos into chapters using iMovie, then create a new iDVD project.

  • Creating a shortcut in the appbar. windows phone 8

    Hi
I have created a simple button that takes the user to the phones settings so he can disable/enable location.
    settings.xaml.cs:
private void buttonGps_click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
                Windows.System.Launcher.LaunchUriAsync(new Uri("ms-settings-location:"));
I have an appbar that is working tried it with a simple link to another page I created.
    app.xaml.cs:
private void Settings_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
                (Application.Current.RootVisual as PhoneApplicationFrame).Navigate(new Uri("/settings.xaml", UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute));
so now to my question I wanna have the user moved to the location settings when they press the appbars button, any advice on this?

You should be able to put your LaunchUriAsync call in the Settings_Click event instead of the Navigate call.   Is that not working?

  • How do i create keyboard shortcuts for the different markup colours?

I want to be able to quickly highlight with different colours in the preview app.

You didn't read my post. You merely read your preconceived notion of what I posted.
If you want to pop up menus and type letters, turn on the functions to activate the menus in the Keyboard & Text Input of Keyboard Shortcuts.
You can then activate the menus, type letters of the menu to select the one you want, then type letters for the menu items to select those. Once selected, arrow down or space to drop the menu or activate a hierarchical submenu.
These items allow you to activate the various menus, Dock, toolbars, etc.
They are default to Function keys (in order), but I changed mine to things that make sense.

  • Creating Shortcuts on Windows Public Desktop

    Hi all,
I believe this has been discussed before, but I'm after some advice.
When I create a virtual app (using ZAV), I use ZCM11 to copy the virtual app to the user's computer, so it can be used when they are away from the network. The way I want to do this is to create a shortcut in the "C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop\Virtual Applications".
This is proving to be a real pain in ZCM (11.3.1).
    If I do this:
Create a local shortcut to the virtual.exe
(In a CMD Window) rename the shortcut from *.lnk to *.aaa
(Using ZCM) Install the *.aaa file to a temp folder on the users computer
Copy the *.aaa file to "C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop\Virtual Applications" (as System User)
Rename the file to *.lnk (as System User)
    ... it works.
I can't believe this is the best way for a package like ZCM11 to create a shortcut.
Has anyone managed to do this, in a way that I can optimise for many bundles.
    Cheers.

You can install a shortcut, when you browse for it you have to change the
filetype to *.*, if i remember correctly. And then select the shortcut.

  • How to change the icon for a shortcut on the desktop

I created a shortcut on the Desktop (dragging a safari url-icon to the desktop) but the icon showing is a safari icon.
The website has a specific icon, as displayed as the first item (icon) on the url bar in front of the website-URL.
I located the specific icon on the website (favicon.ico), opened it and copied the icon (copy paste).
Then I opened the properties screen for my shortcut (at the Desktop) (control click on link) .
Now I am supposed to copy the new icon (from my Clipboard)  into the properties of the Desktop URL, but how do I do that?

You can change the favicon for a folder but not  a specific Safari url.
Click a clear space on your desktop then go to the Finder menu and click File > New Folder
Move Safari url shortcuts to that folder.
Then copy and paste the icon for the folder.

  • Creating a Custom Event Log View Shortcut on a server desktop for an admin

    Good morning,
We have a new admin starting and I would like to create custom event log view shortcut on there desktop for each server they need to check. Is there a way to do this in Server 2012 and Server 2008?
I have figured out how to create a shortcut of the Application and System log, but not Custom Views. Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my research, you can create a custom view like
this. However, I tried miltiple ways to create a shortcut of the custom view of the event viewer and no result. I can only create a shortcut of the event viewer. You may need a script can achieve that.

  • Place Outlook shortcut on All Users' desktops via Group policy

Hello I am looking for a way to deploy a desktop shortcut to all of our Windows 7 machines for Microsoft Outlook. The difficulty I am running into is that we have x86 and x64 versions of Microsoft Office installed on the machines, and no easy way to identify
    which is which.
Does anyone have a suggestion of how to create a single Group Policy that could place an Outlook shortcut on the public desktop which would work regardless of what version is installed?

If all of Office suite (e.g. Office 15) installed in default path, please deploy the following script and run it locally:
    Set objShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    strDesktopFolder = objShell.SpecialFolders("Desktop")
    Set objShortCut = objShell.CreateShortcut(strDesktopFolder & _
    "\Outlook.lnk")
    objShortCut.TargetPath = chr(34) & "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\OUTLOOK.EXE" & chr(34)
    ObjShortCut.IconLocation = "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\OUTLOOK.EXE, 0"
    objShortCut.Save
The following application path is also ok in this vbs
    %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office 2013\Outlook 2013.lnk
    Thanks.
