Creating business cards in Photoshop CS4

I have a design, but I can't figure out how to print it. Help please.

Resize your design to the correct size for a standard business card.
Make a new file the size of a standard sheet (A4 or Letter)
Make guides on the sheet and drag copies of your resized design on to the sheet.
Print the file on suitable stock and cut out the cards.
(In fact this is better done in a layout program or even Word!)

  • How to create Business cards in Iphoto

    Hi There:
Would anybody know if it is possible to create business cards in Iphoto. If not any ideas. Thank you.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
You need a layout program like pages or pagemaker or InDesign

  • Info on creating business cards in pages

In creating business cards using pages, how do copy and paste? Doesn't seem to work as normal.

    Fruhulda,
I was too impatient to wait for your solution and finally figured it out for myself.  But I came up with a different method of dragging the one master card to the other blocks and that was by using the "option" key on the Apple key board. Apparently, it does the same as Cm + D.  It's strange that we can't just copy and paste as normal.
It's a shame too that we don't have a "how to do things" directory for our keyboard.
But I want to say thanks for being a good Samaritan out there willing to help people like me and Samdelrussi.
    Have a good Holiday Season.

It is easy. Go to http://www.iworkcommunity.com and key in "business card" to find a template.

  • Creating Business Cards in PSE 5.0

I have been making some Business Cards in PSE for about the past couple of months. It has been quite a learning process along the way. I am by no means an expert at this. Either with PSE and in making business cards.
Basically I am making the core of my card or many times all of it within PSE, and then going to Publisher and inserting my PSE created file, formatted as a TIFF normally, right into a Blank Publisher Business Card template.
My question is regarding the original resolution of my card in PSE. Because when you use any Type within PSE, it's size is tied to the resolution of your image. I have been creating my images as 300 ppi. But when I add the text for the card on there, it's always too small. And if I try and enlarge the text size to make it look normal, then it seems I can't get things to fit within the safe printing zone. I can't seem to get a middle ground here.
Should I not create my basic image with a resolution of 300 ppi? Should I go lower so that the Text (type) will be more in line with a 72 ppi image? I am afraid to go too low with the resolution fearing that the graphics and text won't look to good when printed. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Lee

Thanks so much! I am actually in the middle of still reading your book Photoshop Elements 5 - The Missing Manual. What prompted me to put this out to the forum was the section you have in the chapter for using Type in PSE where you explain very well about how the resolution of your image effects the size of your text. Before reading that I was kind of stumped as to why things looked different.
That makes better sense then to do all the main graphic stuff in PSE and then go to Publisher for all the rest.
The book is great by the way.

  • Creating business cards in Pages with background image

I am trying to use the Pages business card template and background image function of pages to create a business card that has an image on every business card on the sheet. I can't seem to find out how to do that. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Here is the basic method of having white text on a colored background: Insert a shape. While selected go to the Graphic Inspector and select a Fill color. Re-proportion the shape as needed. Insert a text box (or boxes) and type your text. Drag it (them) over the shape and change the color of the text to white (or any other color you desire). Select all and group. Duplicate as needed. Apply this procedure to your business cards or anywhere else.
Another method for applying a colored background to a text box: select the text box and Fill it from the Graphics Inspector and adjust the Inset Margin in the Text Inspector.

  • Creating .swf's in Photoshop CS4?

I have PS CS4, I found a tutorial for PS CS2 (Creative COW) that said you could export animations created in Photoshop as .swf's using Imageready through Photoshop. But I can't seem to find a similar tutorial, or anything, to export Flash files from Photoshop CS4?! Is it possible. I would really like to create my animated buttons for my Nav Bar with PS.
I guess I could fumble around in Flash, but I Iike the animation window in PS CS4, it's very similar to AfterEffects, which I love to use. Flash seems so clunky and you have to type in code and all that. Anyone have any tips?
    Thanks all,
    Aza

No, to my knowledge PS does not spit out any form of Flash animation. If it would, it would be just rasterized image sequences such as you can create from within After Effects when you directly export an SWF. Still, speaking of that, since you have AE, why not do the animation there, combined with flash? Check out the requirements and workflow for exporting XFL files from AE, and you're already much closer...

  • Can I migrate tags and keywords created in Elements, to Photoshop CS4?

I have used Elements 11 for cataloguing a lot of photos but I want to use Photoshop CS4 for other purposes. The tags and keywords I created in Elements disappear in PS. How can I migrate them? Does CS4 have a similar cataloguing ability?

When you add keywords to images in Photoshop Elements Orgainzer, they are added to the catalog not to the file directly. You can save the keywords to the file directly by using File  > Save Metadata to Files.
If you use the Edit with Photoshop feature of the Organizer, the file does get sent to Photoshop with metadata attached (without having to use the above steps). But in order to see this data you have to go to File > File Info in Photoshop.
Beyond that, not all file formats support metadata or keywords, and not all application have a way of displaying or reading keywords.
Photoshop doesn't have any cataloging abilities. The closest it has is the Bridge companion app. This does not catalog your files, but simply allows you to view the files on your hard drive (similar to Windows Explorer or Mac Finder) with more information displayed.

  • Creating business cards

Using the business card template, I have created one perfect card with text, photo etc. How do I duplicate this card to fill out the rest of the template?

    Hi chemise,
Welcome to Apple Discussions and the Pages '09 forum.
    Here's an alternate method:
Select all placeholder items in the other 7 cards on the page.
Press delete to remove them, leaving only your one perfect card.
Select all of the items making up your card, using the method in ibookmaster's post.
Press command-D to duplicate all items.
Press shift-command-up arrow once to vertically align the copy with the original.
Press shift-command-right arrow repeatedly to quickly move the copy into the card space at the top of the right column.
Press command-right arrow (and/or command-left arrow) to nudge the copy into its final position.
Select the copy and the original.
Repeat the steps above using shift-command-left arrow once, then shift-command-down arrow and command-down arrow to move the two new copies into the second row.
    Select all four copies.
Repeat the steps above to align these horizontally, then move them into rows three and four.
    Save. Print.

  • Version Set is not created when editing with Photoshop CS4?

Last week I was working in PSE7 and opening files into PS CS4 for editing. I open the files by clicking the Open with link and choose Photoshop. I edited several dozen photos and when I closed them from PS CS4 Version Sets were created in PSE7 like they should be. At some point that stopped happening. Now when I do as before and open the files into PS CS4, edit them, and then close them the Version Set is not being created in PSE7. I look in the folder containing the files and the file has a new modified date but it still has the same file name instead of being saved with the - edited name as before. Does anyone know why the version sets are no longer being created when editing with PS CS4? I can edit the files with the PSE7 editor and the version sets are created as they should be. Thanks!

Okay so tha there is no misunderstanding here is exactly what I'm doing. From the PSE7 Organizer I select a photo (file name Tetons & Jenny Lake 026.jpg) and click the Fix tab. I then click More Options and select Photoshop. The photo opens in into PS CS4. I make my edits click the x on the tab to close the image and I'm asked "Save changes to the Adobe Photoshop document "Tetons & Jenny Lake 026_edited-1.jpg" before closing?" I click Yes then click OK to save the image at maximum quality. I go back to the PSE 7 Organizer and there is no version set. I check the folder the original image was in and see the original file Tetons & Jenny Lake 026.jpg with a new modified date and time. I can even choose Save As from PS CS4 and it asks me if I want to overwrite Tetons & Jenny Lake 026_edited-1.jpg and I select Yes, but I get the exact same results. Thanks!

  • Can Anyone Tell Me How to Create Greeting Cards with Photoshop Elements 7 or 8?

I need a 7x10 page setup so that when the card is folded to a 5x7 my photo is landscape on the outside of the card.  Currently I can only find a 8 1/2 x 11 paper size.

In Photoshop Elements 8 Editor, go to the Create tab, and you will see Greeting card, with 5x7 page size.

  • Creating a .pdf in photoshop cs4 different than earlier versions

    Hi. In PS CS4.
I am trying to make a .pdf to send to a printer. I do not know if the printer as CS4. Eventually I will ask, but..
I made a pdf in Photoshop, basically using the High Quality print settings.
Normally, when I open a pdf in Photoshop that was made in Photoshop I am able to see the layers, adjustment layers..etc..
I tried opening this .pdf in Photoshop 7.0 & it had asked me to rasterize it with that dialog screen, although I did have Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities checked. I am not sure why it did that.
What do you do for people that have earlier versions?
    Thank you.

not much you can do about it, the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities only works when opening it in Photoshop CS2 or newer

  • Creating '3D-Crosswords' in Photoshop CS4/5

How does one create 3D-crosswords similiar to those seen in the link below? A complete step-by-step isn't expected, but rather the main steps involved in the creating images such as those. I haven't had any luck searching for tutorials on this subject, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    http://www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=file&lightboxID=6526100&refnum=3DStock

    Do you have Photoshop Extended?
Because then the 3D feature might help. (I don’t have CS5 yet, so I don’t know if the new extrusion capabilities are any good, though.)
But personally I might in this case consider using Illustrator’s 3D-feature and just transforming the letters onto the objects’ surfaces as Smart Objects.
And the shadows one could create from a mixture of transformed/filtered masks and painting.
