Creating collages for printing.

Hi I'm new to Photoshop. My daughter gave me Elements 8 ages ago and I have only just downloaded it (was afraid to do so in case it pulled all my thousands of photos from my Windows Photo Pictures in their unedited form (as Picasa did to me ages ago). I have finally taken the plunge and I am now trying to get my head around the programme. The main thing I liked about Picasa was that I could create collages and manipulate the photos into different arrangements and could then print these off. I want to make some place mats with collages of my wildflower photos. Can Elements 8 create collages for printing, and can the photos  in the collages be rearranged?.

To answer your last questions... yes and yes!
PSE has tools for automatically creating collages. You can also manually create one by adding pictures to a blank template. In either case the pictures will appear on separate layers which you can then individually resize, rearrange, rotate, overlap, etc. You can crop them to whatever shape you like, add effects such as borders, frames, drop shadows, and add text inside or outside the pictures.
Here is an example I created.

  • Automator-creating actions for printing

    I would like to create an automator action for printing in preview. When printing, I have several print profiles set up based on black and white, color, etc. I also send those profiles to different trays when I print to my multifunction printer. For example, I will select a page in Preview, print in color to tray 1. Then perhaps I would select 2 pages and select black and white printing to tray 2 with a double sided copy. What I would like to do is create an automator action/script or whatever that would select the appropriate print settings so I don't need to keep clicking boxes and change settings every time I need to go through a document to print. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to create labels for printing?

    Hi, I am trying to find an automated way of creating a series of labels containing different information for printing purposes...

    Pages doesn't have any automated label function. If you do a search in the Pages forum you might get answer for workarounds. Thera are more label specific programs to get on the Internet like "Labels & Addresses"

    Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
    The Avery labels and business cards with which I have had experience come on standard 8.5 X 11 inch sheets.  Of course, there may well be something out there about which I am unaware.

  • Creating Formats for Printing

    I've created a report that the output is 66 x 110 and is only one page.  When printing this report, it is defaulted to 65x132 which prints it in Landscape.
    I'd like to create a format that will allow the 66x110 in Portrait and use a smaller font.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
    You should use transaction SPAD -> tab Device Types -> Format Types. Then, if the format that you wish doesn't exists, you can create it.

  • A part of an image frame is on other page as well, it is misplacing while creating PDF for print

    I am working on a design in which there is an image frame box with outline & shadow. This box is continuing from one page to other page as well. (80% on one page & 20% on the other) When I am previrewing it in InDesign Booklet SE, it's showing perfect but when I created new document in that and look at the design that image box is coming only on one page not on the other...I am trying to break the box into two, but the problem is outline...it creates outline on all the 4 sides on both parts of the broken image frame resulting in outline in between the image, which is where the page folds. I don't know how to solve this. Will highly apppreciate any response/ideas. Thanks!

    InBooklet SE had some problems with creating new documents and frames that crossed the spine, as you've discovered.
    This MIGHT work, though: copy the image and paste in place so you have two copies on top of each other, then crop them in opposite directions to stop at the spine. I surmise you've added a stroke to the frame, so use the direct select tool to select the frame edge along the spine on each one and delete that segment. This will probably be easier to do if you put the images on separate layers so you can hide one while trying to work on the other.

  • Can Adobe Flash be an alternate soft for Adobe Photoshop (for PRINT)? Is it possible to use Adobe Fl

    Is it possible to use Adobe Flash instead of adobe photoshop for generating images for PRINT???
    how about the CMYK settings? Will i have an issue with that? Please I need an expert at this too.

    No. Flash would be one of the worst applications to substitute for Photoshop for creating art for print output. If you must use something other than Photoshop, you could use Illustrator, it is specifically designed to create artwork for print.
    Flash has no direct method for outputting CMYK.

    Hi Soumya,
    It is normal way like how you create Tcode for executable programs.
    But in real time we never creates TCodes for Print Programs, which will get triggered when you print the layout.

  • Workflow for creating a very large collage for a wall paper

    I have a bunch of photos shot with a canon t4i. My plan is to blow up all the photos and make a collage to print out on wall paper for a wall. I shot all of these photos in RAW. The dimensions of the wall are 101h x 106w. Yes, this collage bogs down my computer to the max. Its ridiculous. But anyways, I am having trouble retaining sharpness in my photos on my collage. I am a beginner with editing raw photos so that might be a problem.
    This is what I did.
    Open new photoshop (101x106")
    Edit all photos in camera raw
    drag photos from bridge on to photoshop
    place and adjust size of each photo
    what would you do differently to retain sharpness? It is important that it looks as best as possible because it will be in a small room in the foyer of our office.
    Thanks,
    Riley

    I see two problem.  On the print size exceed all the printers I know of.  The widest printers that Epson make can only print 64" wide.  Even if you cut your collage into two with some overlap for alignment.  It would be a nightmare applying 54" wide wallpaper to a wall.  There might be a third problem with cost a Epson printers that can print 54" wide rolls starting price is $10,000.00 and go up to $25,000.00. Expensive wallpaper. And you still need the paper and ink.
    For a collage that large you do not need to print at 300 DPI for you will not be viewing the wall that is big and over your height up close where the human eye can resolve down to 300 dpi. In you collage you also show only three image across the top row. Some wider the others. Look at your Cannot T4I the would mean some image would be printed  between 35" to 40" wide. without interpolation your 18MP images printed that size would meant they would print in the 130 to 150 DPI range.  To interpolate from 130-150 to 300  would requite increasing the pixel count in the range of 400 to 500 percent.  That is a lot of interpolation.  I would not do that. I would actually create the collage at 150 DPI.  That resolution should be good for an image that large.  That Collage would not tax Photoshop as much. The 300DPI collage image would be 106x300x101x300=963,540,000  at 150DPI the same image would be 106x150x101x150=.240,885,000  the is 1/4 the number of pixels.
    I would flatten the collage and cut it into 7 ovelaping stripts around 16" wide

  • How do i create a collage to print as a poster

    I want to create a collage to print as a poster of an album of say 30 photos.
    How can i do this?

    As Larry said 3rd party software is what you need.  One of the best and easiest to use I've found is Pages.  Just create a custom page the size of your poster, drag photos from the iPhoto window into the Pages window, resize as desired and drag to where you want it.
    Another app, OmniGraffle, is one that I used to create this 96 photo poster:
    It's somewhat expensive but the demo version will let you work with up to 10 photos on a page.
    Otherwise go to MacUpdate.com and search for "collage" to get a list of potential candidates.

  • Creating your own theme-templates for printing?

    Can I create my own theme-templates for printing?
    /BonneSwe

    No, iTunes printing is quite simple and only works off it's own templates. If you want to customise templates you'd be better advised to look at on of the specialised cover printing programs that are available. DiskLabel is one that springs to mind.

  • Creating new graphics object from a existing one and sending it for print

    Hello,
    i have a graphics object which is big in size, I am creating a new graphics object from the existing one as given below
    //map is a graphic object
    Graphic g1 = (Graphic)map.create(x,y,width,height);
    Graphic g2 = (Graphic)map.create(x,y,width1,height1);
    Graphic g3 = (Graphic)map.create(x,y,width2,height2);
    arrayList.add(g1);
    arrayList.add(g2);
    arrayList.add(g3);
    Now I want to send the graphic object g1,g2,g3 for print in the method
    public int print (Graphics g, PageFormat pf, int idx) throws PrinterException {
    // Printable's method implementation
    if (curPageFormat != pf) {
    curPageFormat = pf;
    pages = repaginate (pf);
    if (idx >= 3)) {
    return Printable.NO_SUCH_PAGE;
    g = (Graphics) arrayList.get(idx);
    return Printable.PAGE_EXISTS;
    This is not working... what is wrong. can anybody suggest..
    I tried standardprint.java to print a object inside a scrollpane, it is not printing the entire diagram. so I am thinking of something like this.... Please let me know what to do....
    Thanks

    The easy way to do this is create a copy using Windows Explorer.
    Open the project and go to File > Rename.
    Then you have your 2013 ready made project.

  • Want to create an oval vignette in photoshop elements 10 with transparent background for printing w

    I am fairly new to PSE and I want to create an oval vignette in Photoshop Elements 10 with transparent background for printing on white paper using MS Publisher. Using the white background on inverse selection makes a slight line impression and either it should have a defined "frame" or nothing.
    Appreciate any guidance.

    Try with the Elliptical marquee tool:
    On the tool's option bar set feather 25-40 px (experiment)
    Drag out the Ellipse to embrace the object
    Go to Layer>new>layer via copy, or CTRL+J
    Your selection should fade out as a vignette and be surrounded by transparency
    Save this layer via File>save for web, select PNG-24, and tick "Transparency"

  • I want to create a document in Illustrator that i can use for Print and Web - using 2 different colourspaces.

    Is it possible to do this?  I need to create a document so that I can export as a high quality CMYK for print and export the same file as RGB jpeg / pdf for web and email use.  Do I have to create the document with 2 different colourspaces, or can I change / convert the colourspace after I have created and finished the document?  or is there some simple way to select an RGB / CMYK option when saving/exporting?
    look forward to your reply!
    Tom

    Tom,
    In addition to what Monika said, the document can be either CMYK or RGB Colr Mode, but not both.
    And you are right in starting with the CMYK because that will ensure (to the degree possible) that the CMYK and RGB versions match in colour (gamut, the CMYK gamut being the more linited and almost entirely included in the RGB gamut); this will prevent more vivid RGB colours which will make the CMYK colours seem duller.
