Creating Data Source from MSsql system

Dear all,
I have created a connection between mssql server and my bi system, connection check is ok, when i create a data source and enter a table name in the db, from application server, system does not provide "proposal data" for given table.
When itry to add the column names in db, system deletes the names in the table.
Anything i am missing? Thanks

also when i try to F4 on table field on extraction tab, it gives me error message RSDS_ACCESS034 that is table names ar invalid in db, however it is not.
Diagnosis
The name of the table or view either
contains invalid character(s) or
its length is invalid or
it contains lowercase character(s).
System Response
Invalid names of tables and views are automatically removed from the selection.
Procedure
Table/view names that contain invalid characters such as @ # $ % are not supported. Furthermore, a maximum of 30 characters is allowed in table names. Lowercase characters are not supported.
If the name of the table/view you selected is not supported, create a new valid name for the table/view.

Since your are using process order, I would like to know whether you are using process management function or not.
(Especially your are following GMP scenario ? This guide line is basically used pharmaceutical industry.
If you work with GMP scenario, before your are archiving your process order, you need to create electronic batch creation and archiving.
Then you can archive your process order and delete it completely from your system.
You can check whether your are using GMP scenario or not in your process order type.
(T-CD COR4).
If you are not. All you need to do is set deletion flag and deletion indicator to your process order and then archive your process order (you can use program PRARCHP1) by using archiving object PR_ORDER (you can call this object from t-cd sara or COAC).

Go for the generic data sources.
1. first create the view on all the tables.
        You can only use join conditions but not Union.
        you can specify one table as primary table based on your requirement.
2. build the data source based on the view.

Error in generating data source from planning area

Hi experts! I have an error while making data source from planning area:
after the screen when i fill in the data source name (Window name: Generate export data source) i have the SYNTAX_ERROR Message:
Syntax error in program /sapapo/cl_im_extract_ex======cp
the main reason: the type /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD is unknown
what you can suggest to solve this problem?

The reason is the program is trying to use the datatype '/BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD' which does not exist in the system.
Go SE11 to cross check if it exists. Check dataelement radiobutton -> enter /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD -> Choose display option. You would need to create this datatype in the system. I feel there must some OSS Note related to this.
Search for an OSS Note. Raise one if you cannot find the relevant notes.

while creating data source in BI 7.0 , ( from flat file data)
under extraction tab:
character set settings : default and direct entry is there
if i select direct entry i am getting character set and replacement character.
what scenerio we use direct entry and what scenerio we use default. if i select direct entry what is effect for my output.

System Default or Fixed Entry
If you choose Default Setting for the character set, in Unicode systems a file in UTF-8 format is expected, in non-Unicode systems a file in the format of the system code page is expected.
If you choose Direct Input for the character set, you can select an SAP character set and determine a replacement character, in case errors occur while converting to the system character set.
SAP Character Set ID
The 4-character name of an SAP character set as defined in SAP character set maintenance.
The following explains the naming convention in more detail:
First digit: Code
0 EBCDIC character sets
1 ASCII character sets
2 mixed single byte / double byte character sets
4 double-byte character sets
6 mixed character sets
8 double byte and multibyte character sets
9 reserved for code pages you define
Second digit: Country
1-3 countries that use the Latin alphabet (Western Europe, North and South America, Australia, Africa)

How to replicate Generic data source from R/3 to BI

I have created generic datasource in r/3 using view. I replicated to BI.
I selected for DataSource (RSDS) instead of selecting 3.x DataSouce.
Now what r the steps to load data into cube.
Please help me in this regard. Please give me detail steps to proceed further.

In Sometimes the Standard Extraction Does not Satisfy the Customers Needs that time We have to use Generic Extraction.
generic extraction is also classified in to three types
using
1. View
2.Infoset query
3.Function module.
Procedure:
-->Go to Tcode : RSo2,
-->There give the name of data source which you want to create like
transaction data source or master data attribue or Text data source.
-->enter
-->again in the next screen you need to give application like SD or MM
etc
-->in the same screen need to select table/view or infosetquery or
function module. these are different ways of creating data sources.
-->Give the name for the same like if u r creating data source on table
give the name of table.
-->click on Generic delta which will there in application tool bar and

How to do basic LO extraction for SAP-R3-BW
1. Go to transaction code RSA3 and see if any data is available related to your DataSource. If data is there in RSA3 then go to transaction code LBWG (Delete Setup data) and delete the data by entering the application name.
2. Go to transaction SBIW --> Settings for Application Specific Datasource --> Logistics --> Managing extract structures --> Initialization --> Filling the Setup table --> Application specific setup of statistical data --> perform setup (relevant application)
3. In OLI*** (for example OLI7BW for Statistical setup for old documents : Orders) give the name of the run and execute. Now all the available records from R/3 will be loaded to setup tables.
4. Go to transaction RSA3 and check the data.
5. Go to transaction LBWE and make sure the update mode for the corresponding DataSource is serialized V3 update.
6. Go to BW system and create infopackage and under the update tab select the initialize delta process. And schedule the package. Now all the data available in the setup tables are now loaded into the data target.
7.Now for the delta records go to LBWE in R/3 and change the update mode for the corresponding DataSource to Direct/Queue delta. By doing this record will bypass SM13 and directly go to RSA7. Go to transaction code RSA7 there you can see green light # Once the new records are added immediately you can see the record in RSA7.
8.Go to BW system and create a new infopackage for delta loads. Double click on new infopackage. Under update tab you can see the delta update radio button.
9.Now you can go to your data target and see the delta record.

RSA1 -> source systems -> right click on your source system -> replicate
then activate your BC:

Replication of Data Source from APO to External BI

I want to create a data source on DP/SNP planning area & replicate it directly to External BI instead of APO BW. Is it possible to replicate data source from APO to directly External BI? If yes then How?

Hi Sujay,
If you would like to replciate a particular Data source then Go to BW -> TCode RSDS ( Data source Repository)
Data Source = ( specify which you would like to replciate )
Source system = Specify source system name.
Go to Menu option Data Source -> Replicate Data source or you can use CTRL + SHIFT + F2
These steps will replicate only the data source which you would like to replicate.

Newbie Question: Creating Data Sources

Our current Hyperion setup consists of the Hyperion 9.3 client that users access via a terminal server. We are trying to get the web version of Hyperion running.
I installed some base components of the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System (11.1.1.2.0.940). It all starts fine and I can login with admin, but I do not see how to create data sources or load .bqy query files. If I create a new interactive reporting document, it makes me choose a Data Source from the virtual directory in which I do not have one. if I try to import one, or import a .bqy file, I browse to the file, select it, then always get a "File path is wrong." error. I also found how to create Data Sources using the CMC, but I do not see how to reference these. What am I doing wrong?.

What version of Hyperion planning are you using version 9.3 or epm11.1?
Because they have different ways of creating datasources.
In version 9.3 you can create datsource in the configuration utility.
While in version 11 you need to create planning application first before creating datasource either by classince planning application or epm.

Data load from Legacy system to BW Server through BAPI

Requirements: We have different kind of legacy systems and SAP BW server. We want to load all legacy system data into SAP BW server using BAPI. Before loading we have to validate all data. If there are bad data, data missing we have to let the legacy system user/ operator knows to fix the data into their system with detail explanation. When it is fixed, we have to load the data again.
Load Scenario: We have two options to load data from legacy systems to BW Server.
1. We need to load data directly from legacy system to BW Server using BAPI program.
2. Legacy Systems data would be in workstations or flash drive as .txt (one line separated by comma) or .csv file. Need to load from .txt /.csv file to BW Server using BAPI program.
What we want in the BAPI program code?
It will Read / Retrieve data from text / csv file and will put into the Internal table. Internal table structure would be based on BAPI InfoObject structure.
Call BAPI InfoObject function module BAPI_IOBJ_CREATE to create InfoObject, include all necessary / default components, do the error check, load the data and return the status.
Could some one help me with the sample code please? I am new in ABAP / BAPI coding.
Is there any other better idea to load data from legacy system to BW server? BTW we are using BW 3.10. Is there any better option with BI 7.0 to resolve the issue? I appreciate your help.

1. this is a scendario for a data push into SAP BW. You can only use SOAP-Based Transfer of Data.

In this scenario you'll have an RFC dinamically created for every Infosource you need to transfer data.
2. You can make a chain for each data load, so you can call the RFC "RSPC_API_CHAIN_START" to start the chain from external.
the second solution is more simply and available on every release.

I am abap developer. i don't know much about crm.
our requirement is :
i need to create one infoset in sap r/3.
we want to use that infoset in crm server to create data source.
we use transaction code : CRMD_MKTDS
We specify these values.
Origin Type
RFC Destination
InfoSet
Description
businee pastner
But we are not getting any infoset from r/3 server.
we are getting only crm infoset.
I check RFC Destination. Its working fine.
It gives me error : InfoSet ztest either does not exist or has not yet been generated

RSA1 Data source has old system entry even after BDLS

Hi Experts,
Our BW system is on SAP_BW 701. Recently Our ECC system got replaced by a new upgraded system. So I ran BDLS from old system to new system. It went successfully and data sources were active.
Later we found there is one data source that had two entires. One with old logical system and one with new logical system.Could anyone please advise how I can find why old logical system name entry still appears there even after BDLS.

We checked that BDLS run has been fine and there were no errors or warnings. Also all the data sources ahve a soirce system as the new logical system name. But for many data sources; old logical system name's entry is still there. Old system is now not active but we are not getting how we got the old logical system names entries as well alon with new ones. When we try to manually delete those data source entries by right clicking on that; it gives an 'X Fatal error' and does not delete. Looks like its not getting deleted because the old logical system name is not active now. Please advise how can we get rid of these data source entries along with old logical system name and we do not want to re run BDLS.

1.Create connection pool for the RMI driver by specfiying URL as

comes the problem.. what do put in properties text area? I am
talking about key/value pairs required?
2. Having done step 1 ( which I was not able to do) , create a new DataSource
mapping to the connection pool created from step 1.
How to accomplish step 1 ? I want to finally connect to Oracle
database. Please help me.

DataSource will internally do that for you (It will use RMI internaly) . You
dont have to worry about the details of using RMI driver. Thats what is a
DataSource is for.

driver. So use a thin driver or the WebLogic jDriver for Oracle to setup
your connection pool. Once the connection pool is created you can create

Yes you need to create one DSN connection and you have to use DSN name and login details at the time of building/loading of the outline.
Create DSN
Goto Administrative tools -> DataSources (ODBC) and add the DSN name and specify the Server name of SQL and login details and database.
goto data prep editor and click on File Menu and Click on Open SQL option Next window opens.
There you have to enter the details of the DSN connection and SQL query to build/load.

We have been working on Solution Manager .We have managed with successfull installation,Uploaded required support packages,configured the system according to SAP Solution Manager Guide.
Faced with some problem regarding support desk,we are not able to create a message from satellite system to Solution Manager.
Note : Error Message related to this problem is ....

Hi, you need to check the number ranges for the notifications and make sure they are correct. Look in the IMG of the SAP Solution Manager system for the instructions. You also need to make sure that the Service Desk BC Sets are activated if you are NOT on 4.0 and SP Stack 09+. In the later SPs much of this configuration from the IMG is automated in the wizard.
