Creating database in flash
Hi,
I want to find out how i could possibly create and database in flash. I have been trying to create a signup form and a signin form. I have created the design but am unable to link it to database. I do have the knowledge of php so can i link the flash file with php?
Thanks,
Abinash
Yes, you normally use a server-side scripting language such as PHP to act as a go between for Flash/DB interactions. If you search Google using "AS3 PHP MySQL tutorial" you should be able to find something that can outline the process for you (substitute AS2 if that's your intent)

Database Smart Flash Cache and Data Guard
We are on Oracle 11.2.0.2 on OEL 5 and our considering buying fusion io (PCIe flash drives) for our Production (Primary) database.
My question is; Can we use Physical Data Guard with the Primary side using Database Smart Flash Cache and keep-ing tables and/or partitions in the Flash Cache and have a Standby side that does not have Database Smart Flash Cache?Yes you can.
Data Guard will not check what type drive you are using. As long as you meet the database and network requirements it will work.

Check out these white papers if you have concerns

In addition here's an example of using two different file systems with Data Guard

Hi everybody
I need to create a database using Flash which gets the data
such as "name , last name..." from the user and stores it in a
database.
How can I do this jobHi
Flash directly has no Database functionality, you have to use
middleware to provide this function.
Google for 'Flash, PHP and MySQL' for more info. -
Creating Standby server ---- Flash archive/Alternate Boot Environment.
Dear All,
I want to patch upgrade the Centralized login server which holds more than 200 users. To avoid this production outage during the downtime of upgradation, we are planning to create all the logins and application in the alternate server manually. But i feel (lazy) hesitate to create logins and copy the applications in the statndby server. Since "chpasswd" is not in solaris, i can't copy the /etc/passwd & shadow file to standby server.
So i have the plan to achieve this by
i) creating flash archive of existing login server
ii) Creating Alternate boot environment in the standby server and flash restore the archive in it.
Whether the above mentioned plan is achievable, how to create the entire flash archive of solaris os?? and how to deploy it in the alternate boot environment.?
Regards,
SivaDone, I've given the same path in Standby Database [datafiles, controlfiles] as it has been given in the Primary Database.
MoreOver, I m manually switching logfiles at primary database [alter system switch logfile] they are copied and applied sucessfully at standby database. But the archived files that I have copied with cold backup are not applied yet. Infact they are not retrieved executing the below query.
select name, applied from v$archived_log;
How can I apply those archived logs? [archives that copied with cold backup]

Unable to Load Database/Unable to create database.
RoboHelp 6.0 on my PC is suddenly unable to open existing
projects or create new ones. The problem is not in the projects, as
other people can unzip the same set of files and open them with
RoboHelp on their PCs.
The Details:
When attempting to open an existing project (any project
whether in version control or not), I get the message " Open
project was cancelled or the application was unable to load
database for..."
I found the article that says to delete the CPD and XPJ files
and then to use the Edit option to open the HHP file so that
RoboHelp will recreate the two files. When I try that, I get the
message "Unable to create database. Check that the directory is not
read-only." It's
not read-only.
When I attempt to create a new project, the application acts
like it is going to create one, but it just creates a project
folder without the new first topic and then repeats the New Project
Wizard window that prompts for title, etc. It will keep creating
folders and returning to this window in a loop without ever really
creating a project.
RoboSource Control is functioning normally, by the way.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled RH 6 several times, and
have even uninstalled RH 6 and installed to RH 5 just to see if it
could open projects, which it does with no problems. After that
test, I uninstalled RH 5 and reinstalled RH 6, only to encounter
the same problem all over again.
This started happening after I uninstalled other unrelated
software and received a message that some Service Pack 2 files had
been changed and prompting me to insert the Service Pack 2 CD,
which I don't have. This is because our IT department pre-builds
our systems from an image and then distributes job-specific
applications over the network. IT tried repairing Service Pack 2,
but that didn't work. I'd like to uninstall and reinstall Service
Pack 2, but the IT person says it's too risky on a system that was
built from an image.
We would like to find out
which files RoboHelp is looking for when it launches a
project so we can replace those files manually. Does anyone
know what they are or have another suggestion that might fix the
problem?
Otherwise, I am stuck having to allow IT to rebuild my
system. That means reinstalling and reconfiguring everything on it,
just as if I were upgrading to a new PC. This can take a whole work
week. However, I have already spent close to a work week on this
problem, so maybe rebuilding would save time in the long
run.Problem Resolution = HHA.dll
For anyone who might be interested in the resolution to this
issue, we did rebuild my PC and reinstall all of my software. The
RoboHelp installation "complained" that I did not have HTML Help
Workshop on my system and told me to download version 1.4 from
Microsoft. I did have HTML Help Workshop..it's in my programs list.
(It's not listed in programs on my co-workers' PCs, and they were
not having problems, by the way.) But to make RH happy, I
uninstalled the workshop and tried to install the version from
Microsoft. But a message informed me that I already had a newer
version of the workshop on my system, and I was back where I
started. I could open projects, but there were weird problems.
Selecting Topic Properties was met with an error message, and when
the properties window opened, I could only see whatever template
was assigned (or none if the topic had lost its template), and
there was an extra section for Oracle help.
So I started dinking around in the registry to see if I could
get rid of any traces of the workshop so I could install the
version RH wanted or to find any other clues to my problem. Under
HTMLHelpAuthor, there was a reference to an HHA.dll file located in
C:\WINDOWS\system32...only the file did not exist on my system.
(Remember that my original problem was that some Service Pack 2
files were either modified or missing.) So I did a Google search on
that file name and found out that HTML Help Workshop is included in
newer Windows operating systems, but that people used to have to
get HTML Help Workshop from Microsoft, and that some people had
made the mistake of just putting the HHA.dll file into the
C:WINDOWS\system32 folder without also installing HTML Help
Workshop. At this point it was obvious that I needed the HHA.dll,
so I got it from a co-worker's PC. (Looking at the registry
entries, I can also see that my system was built with a slightly
different version of the operating system than my co-workers have.)
Adding the HHA file to my system solved the problem. All
projects but one were fine; one was still exhibiting the strange
behavior. I fixed it by going back to the RoboHelp 5 version of the
project and re-converting it to RoboHelp 6.
I suspect that if I had known about the HHA.dll file before
we rebuilt the PC, I could have solved the problem without going
through that painful process. That is why I thought I should post
the solution even though it was after the rebuild. -
Installation stuck at Create database schema Phase 13 of 27
Hi
I am installing the Netweaver 7.01 SP3 and have already removed it completely after getting stuck at the same installation step. Do not know what is going wrong. A small extract of the log is shown below. Any advice on how to proceed will be helpful. I know when einstalling it has to be removed completely which I did using uninstallation and then clean up tool. But again it is stooping at the same step. I had let it run more almost two days but of no use. My system configuration is good enough with 2GB RAM etc.

Thanks in advance
VikasGuess you are talking about sapinst.log file. Below are the last few lines after which it did not proceed
Do see the last step create DB schema....... The previos log was from sapinst_dev.log
Oliver I have a doubt could it be becuase of the host name.
The host name of my machine is "skumar278-1" with DNS domain name for SAP system "asiapac.globalcsc.net"
Could this be the reason for the problem i am facing i.e installation getting stuck at phase 13 Create DB schema.... Other than this I cannot see anything else which can go wrong.. Do have the DHCP server available..
The page file as per the ram settings i.e for 2 GB should be 3072 so I have set it to the same. Though
the prerequisite page shows
"For the selected services at least 7138 MB swap space are recommended. Current value: 2851 MB. (Updated 2005-06-24)"
Can this be the reason???
Also I just looked at the services file.. there are about about 4-5 different files with the name services .3 services.4 ... services.5 etc als there is no entry for port 3900 3600 & 8000.. .. do not know what to do... Please suggest..

By providing 113246208 bytes (as in default case) of
memory to SGA by setting sga_target value, Oracle gave
extra memory to shared_pool and buffer cache than in case
of default, thus helping create database statement to get
pass. Oracle always recommends to use automatic shared
memory management by setting sga_target parameter value.
Hope this experiment provides few clues about automatic
shared memory management feature of Oracle 10g. This case
was conducted on 32-bit Oracle. It is quite possible that
create database statement might get success in 64-bit
Platform as by default Oracle will provide 84 Mb to Shared
pool. But to confirm, it has to be experimented.

Unable to create database error
Hello all-
I've been working on a project in Robohelp7/HTML for about a
week. I come in today and try to open my project and receive the
error "Unable to create database. Check that the directory is not
read-only.". I've done the obvious of checking the folders and
files within and they are not marked read only. When I create a new
project, I receive the same error. I'm stuck at a standstill and
can't figure out why Robohelp has decided to deny me access to my
project or the ability to create new ones. I went so far as to
uninstall and reinstall, to no avail.
Has anyone encountered this? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
ThanksThere is a topic on Opening RoboHelp Projects on my site. Rh allows you to browse to either an XPJ or HHP file but that is only as good as the last time you generated an output.
When you open with an HHP you get an option to use the XPJ or not, in which case one is created. Either way there should be an XPJ. Not sure how you have lost it.
Backup?

Can I create MacOS on flash drive to run broken Imac?
So I've got an Imac that's all brokedy. Won't start up. I tried reinstalling Snow Leopard 10.6.7 on it from a boot disk, but got referred to Disk Utility. Disk Utility told me that the GB 500 drive was so fricked up that Disk Utility can't do a thing with it, I have to take it to a repair shop. But the Apple MacIntosh HD that's INSIDE the GB500 drive checks out OK according to Disk Utility.
It occurred to me that I could maybe install the Snow Leopard software into a flash drive and run the computer off of it, accessing the data and software on the MacIntosh HD via the flash drive, and at least being able to salvage important files that way. I'll need at least a 16 Gig flahs drive for that, no biggie, but my question is: is this feasible or some mad fantasy I've created out of an absurd desire not to get my wallet hijacked by Apple?I think you'll find that your Hard Drive is failing, I hope you have some form of backup.
Your idea of creating a bootable flash drive could work but it will be useless if your HDD fails which according to your SMART status could happen soon.
I would make a full backup of your hard drive onto an external hard drive using Time Machine or another preferred backup method.
Then I would look into replacing the drive by myself or taking it to an Apple Store.
Good Luck! -
Can't create database using ASM (SOLVED)
Hi all
I'm trying to use ASM for the first time, on Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Solaris x64.
I have installed the ASM instance into /opt/oracle/asm/10.2.0 and created disk groups. I have cssd running OK. I am able to start and stop the ASM instance without problems, and I can select from v$asm_diskgroup to confirm that disks are mounted OK.
I have then installed Oracle EE separately into /opt/oracle/server/10.2.0. I first did a software only install, and now I am trying to create a DB.
The problems come when I try to use this ASM instance to host a new database. I first tried to use DBCA to create a new database, but on database creation I got the following errors:
ORA-00200: control file could not be created
ORA-00202: control file: '+DBLIVE1'
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +DBLIVE1
ORA-15001: diskgroup "DBLIVE1" does not exist or is not mounted
ORA-15055: Message 15055 not found; No message file for product=RDBMS, facility=ORA
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I then told DBCA just to create the DB creation scripts, and I tried manually running these with SQL*Plus.
When doing it with SQL*PLus, I initially got the same error as shown above. But then something changed (sorry, not sure what), and now the error I get is:
CREATE DATABASE "NEONREL1"
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-00349: failure obtaining block size for '+DBLIVE1'
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I've put some debug info below, showing me succesfully connecting to the ASM instance and then attempting to create the DB using the db creation scripts, showing the error at the end. You can see that the oracle OS user is able to connect fine to ASM, then I swithc ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME to the EE install and try to create the DB, at which point it apparently can't connect to ASM any more.
I've tried the DB creation many times, and in between attempts I completely empty $ORACLE_HOME/admin/<dbname> and delete the files related to the attempted install from $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ . I've also stopping/starting ASM, rebooting, and I've done the install of ASM and EE a couple of times over in case I made any mistakes in my earlier attempts.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Tom

tjobbinsUpdate: I've worked out the difference between the two sets of errors I get.
The basic error is this:
ORA-00200: control file could not be created
ORA-00202: control file: '+DBLIVE1'
ORA-17502: ksfdcre:4 Failed to create file +DBLIVE1
ORA-15001: diskgroup "DBLIVE1" does not exist or is not mounted
ORA-15055: Message 15055 not found; No message file for product=RDBMS, facility=ORA
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
However if my init.ora contains the line:
control_files=/opt/oracle/server/10.2.0/dbs/cntrlNEONREL1.dbf
then I instead get the second error:
CREATE DATABASE "NEONREL1"
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-00349: failure obtaining block size for '+DBLIVE1'
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
So basically these must be the same error, just in the second case I'm not trying to put the control file on the ASM so it fails at a different point.
But both errors must be because of the same cause, I suppose. -

How to Create a Bootable Flash Drive to do a clean install of Lion. I have tried to use the InstallESD.dmg but it still will not do a clean install so that I do not have to do a reinstall from the Recovery (That just re downloads and takes over 6 hours)?
The system I'm have is a Mac-mini that had SL on it and no SuperDrive. I have also call Apple Support and they have really have not been to much help over 1st did my up grade to Lion and Installed the Lion Server.... it lost my SSL that I paid for and kill almost on of my server setting, plus kill all my web servers (using apache vhosts), and not to say the LDAP will even let remote users login to your laptops.
PS: There is no way that I'm going to buy a Install USB from Apple... They have over billed me over $300.00 because the Apps Store still has bugs (Glad I did not write that App/Service)
If there is anyone that can give in the information to create a USB install stick, I would be very thinkful. Here you are bro, courtesy of "softpedia.com"....brilliant site!!!
If you ever had problems with your Mac OS X installation you know that the first thing you should do is to check the startup volume using Disk Utility.
After the check has ended and, if the errors exceed a certain level of seriousness, the Disk Utility application will require you to restart your Mac and use its Mac OS X Install disc counterpart.
Other users may have to reinstall OS X altogether, but will find, or already know, that their SuperDrive (a CD/DVD reader and write combo drive) is not functioning properly and it will not be able to read the Install disc.
Although this might happen to Mac OS X Leopard users due to faultyhardware, the vast majority of problematic SuperDrives will be encountered inside Snow Leopard running Macs.
This is due to the updated SuperDrive firmware included in either the Install disc or the software updates one has to install to reach the latest version of OS X, namely 10.6.6.
This can be fixed by flashing the SuperDrive’s stock firmware using free command line tools that one can find for free online (I will write about this process also, but at a later time because this article only focuses on allowing you to create your own alternative USB boot disc).
If you are reading this last bit of information with skepticism, than you should know that it happened to me too. Despite all my tries to make it work properly, the SuperDrive kept on munching any inserted DVDs and just popped them out in about twenty seconds.
The workaround to this issue was to create my own Leopard bootable USB memory stick. I am not suggesting a Snow Leopard bootable stick mainly because there are lots of users that have decided to buy the cheaper, Upgrade version, which I have not tested and, therefore, I’m not sure if it will work properly once written to a USB disk.
And now, here are the exact steps you should follow in order to obtain a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) Install disc.
Step 1 (If you already have the Leopard install disc DMG file you can skip to Step 2)
Launch Disk Utility (you can find it inside /Applications/Utilities). Here select the Leopard Install disc in the list of drives on the left and click on the New Image menu entry at the top of the window. A save message will appear where you will have to select the Desktop as a destination.
Step 2
After Disk Utility has finished creating the Leopard DMG, insert your USB stick and erase all data and reformat the disk. To do this select the USB in the list of drives on the left and, after clicking on the Erase tab on the right side of the window, choose the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and click the Erase button beneath.
Step 3
After the USB has been reformatted, download the SuperDuper app from HERE and launch it. Once SuperDuper starts, you will only have to select the DMG in the Copy drop-down menu, your USB memory stick on the right and hit the “Copy Now” button.
One can also use Disk Utility for this task but creating a bootable USB stick failed 2 out 4 times when copying the DMG to the stick (with the exact same settings each time). Creating the bootable stick using SuperDuper proved to be the perfect way to do it because it worked each of the 4 times I tested it.
The steps above can also be used to create a bootable Mac OS X Lion USB by using the InstallESD.dmg image you can find inside the Lion installer (named “Install Mac OS X Lion.app”) downloaded from the Mac App Store in the /Applications folder.
To locate the InstallESD.dmg right click the Lion installer, select the “Show Package Contents” entry, go inside the “Contents” folder, and from there into the “SharedSupport” folder. Inside this folder you can find the InstallESD.dmg you can use to create your own bootable Mac OS X Lion USB stick. To do so, go to the third step described above and use the InstallESD.dmg as the DMG to be copied to your USB disc.
That’s it! Once the process ends you will have a fully bootable Leopard (or Lion) USB disk that you can use as an alternative to the Apple’s DVD Install disc that comes bundled with all Macs.
To use your newly created bootable disk you will have to restart the Mac, press and hold the OPTION key until the StartupManager appears. Here, select the Mac OS X Install disk using your keyboard arrows and press return to start from the selected drive. -

ORA-12154 TNS:could not resolve service name
*Cause: The service name specified is not defined correctly in the TNSNAMES.ORA file
*Action: Make the following checks and correct the error:
- Verify that a TNSNAMES.ORA file exists on your repository server
in the proper place and is accessible. See the operating
system specific manual for details on the required name and location.
- Check to see that the service name exists in one of the
TNSNAMES.ORA files and add it if necessary.
- Make sure there are no syntax errors in the file.
Particularly look for unmatched parentheses or stray characters.
Any error in a TNSNAMES.ORA file makes it unusable. See
Chapter 4 in the SQL*Net V2 Administrator's Guide. If possible,
regenerate the configuration files using the Oracle Network Manager.
Is there anything wrong in my configuration. Please help me in getting out of this problem.
Thanks in advance
