Creating dual monitor workspace

I found one ancient message from September with absolutely no responses, so let's try again.....
Bridge CS4. Dual monitors. HOW do I create and SAVE a workspace that takes advantage of both monitors? I want to put previews and some palettes on one monitor, and the rest on the other. But, I don't seem to be able to save the whole thing so it's the default setup.
How do I do this?

I don't believe you can. I do think the save workspaces feature is that
smart or goes that far. At least when I have tried creating a dual monitor
workspace and save it, it never comes up like a created it. I think what the
problem is that when you create that secondary window for the other monitor
it isn't just a window created by the main application but a second light
copy of Bridge loaded in to memory so when you close bridge that is lost.
This has been an issue since they added workspace capabilities to Bridge.
It certainly would be nice if this worked however.

  • Dual monitor workspace

CS3. I'm using two monitors. I have saved a workspace in which all pallets appear on the main (left) monitor and the main ID window appears on the right. Lately ID doesn't seem to remember this configuration, everything opens on the left and I have to move the main window to the right. Given that ID used to remember this setup, what has gone wrong with it and how do I get it back to working the way it used to?

I've worked with dual monitors in CS3 without any problems.
I suspect your workspace has become corrupted. (Hanging round street corners. Smoking cigarette. Playing pool.)
Create a new workspace. That should stay around for a while.

  • ID won't remember dual monitor workspace

ID CS3. I have a two monitor setup, with my application window on the right (secondary) monitor and all my palettes and toolbars on the left monitor. I've saved this workspace and ID has always opened up like this. But recently I installed a new plug-in from Rorohiko and ID won't remember the preferred workspace (it wants to open everything in the primary monitor). I've tried deleting the workspace and naming a new one, but that doesn't work. I don't want to remove the plug-in and I doubt if that would change anything. Any ideas on getting ID to behave?

Why not try removing the plug-in? If the problem goes away after that, you'll know that's the solution to your problem. If it doesn't, you can re-install the plug-in.

  • Dual Monitor Workspace Stopped Working

I used to have two Dell 19" monitors and the Workspace>Save Workspace worked in all CS3 applications.
I know have two Acer 22" monitors and the Save Workspace only works correctly in Photoshop.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Where did you find instructions for using two monitors? Thanks.

  • Workspace with Dual Monitors in Bridge

I'm operating with two monitors. On my main monitor I have the Preview Panel open at full screen size. On my secondary monitor I have the content panel open with thumbnails showing. I've tried several times to save this as a single workspace but to no avail. Saving the main monitor workspace is fine. But I then need to save the second monitor workspace as a separate workspace.
In doing so the second monitor workspace (thumbnails) jumps back to the first monitor & emulates what the main monitor shows. I'd like to be able to save dual monitor workspaces as unique workspaces. Hope this makes sense.

    Kevin,

<br /> You don't mention what versions of Bridge and the OS you're running.
    <br />
<br /> I have the Preview panel on my main monitor and everything else on the second monitor. This works for me in CS4 and in CS3 or CS2. No problem saving that as my default space. I'm running Tiger 10.4.11.

<br /> Start fresh, and this time do not attempt to move the
    <i>pods</i> around, rather move the

  • Separate workspaces on dual monitor setup?

Sorry if I leave out any details -- just ask if you need anymore.
A little background information before I begin: I am using 3.12-ck x86_64 kernel, using Cinnamon, and have a dual monitor setup via one graphics card, which is an NVIDIA 560 Ti, and I'm using nvidia-ck-bulldozer
I'm trying to have each monitor have its own Workspace instead of just being one large desktop, but I'm not exactly sure how. The only solution I've found so far is:
    1) Right click the panels on Monitor #1 and choose "New Panel" -- (This is where my problem lies; there is no "New Panel" option)
    2) Then hold Alt and click and drag the new panel to Monitor #2 -- (I also cannot even move my current panel from monitor via clicking + key combos; I have to change the primary monitor in Cinnamon System Settings)
But, as I said, this solution doesn't work for me. What exactly should I do?
    Edit:
Forgot to mention, I'm using Cinnamon version 2.0.14

I am using the same version as you right now, but I couldn't find out what you are searching for. I think this is because this feature doesn't exist yet. See https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/130

  • Bridge Dual Monitors CS3 Workspace Questions

I can't seem to figure out a few things regarding running dual monitors. Run windows XP, have the latest bridge/cs 3 updates. Sometimes everything works fine, other times it doesn't.
I like having my preview pane on monitor #1, directly in front of me. I also like opening the selected photo in RAW from monitor #1 and having the RAW window come up on monitor #1.
Most often the RAW window will open up on Monitor #2, which I do not want to happen. On Monitor #2, I have my content pane and my metadata & folders showing.
I've reversed 1:2 and 2:2 and can't get it to work right either. Could someone provide some guidance? Been searching options and can't figure it out.
Another topic that is not related to dual montiors. Sometimes my preview tab, will not show the selected photo in it. I usually reset Bridge on start up and it'll be there...but sometimes the photo disappears. The tab will still be there. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

I discovered that with dual monitors if the window is maximized it has no preview image (default workspace), just a green pane. If you use the double headed arrow and pull back the dividing line between thumb/preview pane or preview/metadata pane it revels dozens of "copies" of underneath. The preview will only show up when the thumb window pane is moved quite a ways to the left. It is almost like the real workspace is on the bottom and the others are on top.
The solution I have found is to click RESTORE DOWN (middle window icon) and then everything works correctly, even if I enlarge the window to full monitor. If I maximize it reverts again. Am using Vista and 2 monitors. Can work with this now that I know what to do, but a little puzzling. For anyone not seeing a preview image, or metadata, might be worth while to see if maximize window mode is the problem.
Perhaps you could experiment with maximize - restore down and see if it helps with your problem.
Probably get a better response if you post questions in Bridge question forum rather than feature forum.

  • I3 bar: dual monitor, all workspace tabs on primary

First of i3 is Awesome (just switched)
    Question:
with named workspaces in a dual monitor setup I have i3 status bar set to display only on the external monitor, which works great, except for the fact that the only workspace tabs that display in the bar are those related to the external monitor.
If I show the bar on laptop monitor as well, of course the workspace tabs relevant to laptop display.
So, is there a way to get all workspace tabs displaying in status bar on a single monitor?
Also, have not been able to find out how to reverse alignment of status items and workspace tabs. Would prefer status items aligned left and workspace tabs right -- possible to pull this off with new JSON protocol?
    Thanks for ideas

This is due to your window manager treating the two monitors as a larger 'desktop' area - that combined with your specification of the pos=0x0 you are telling it to do this.
If you have only the VGA output on, the top left corner of the VGA monitor is 0x0.  If you open a window, and it is placed 10 pixels in and down from the top left, it is at coordinates 10x10 in the x session.  Then you turn on the laptop monitor and specify that the top left corner of the laptop monitor should now bo considered 0x0 - but nothing is done to move the windows, so the window with coordinates 10x10 is now near the top left of the laptop monitor.
I see 3 possible ways of acheiving what you want:
    1) swap the "pos" parameters in your xrandr commands so that the monitor on the left is always at 0x0 and the one on the right is always at 1920x0 (or whatever).  This will leave a large area of available X desktop that is not visible - I don't know how your window manager will treat this.  It might try to map windows on the laptop screen space even though that screen is not on.  I know openbox is easy to configure where it tries to place windows.
    2) Keep the VGA monitor always at 0x0, but place the laptop monitor at a negative offset when you want it on.  I don't actually know if X allows negative coordinates like that, but it's worth a shot.
    3) Configure your window manager, or use a different window manager, so that it is aware of the two screens and treats them reasonably (e.g. moves windows when the desktop area is changed).

  • Elements 11 Preview Window not visible in dual monitor mode

When I go to dual monitor mode the preview window is hidden. I can still hear the audio from the clip but I can't see the video window. It is still hidden when I switch back to single monitor mode. The only way to bring it back is to close out the program and reopen it. Does anyone know where it goes and how to make it visible?

    MAINEEDIT
I have just set up for Premiere Elements 11 Dual Monitor Mode in Windows 8 64 bit computer.
How do you have your monitors set up...Extend Across.. or other?
I am not having any problems keeping track of what I believe you are referring to as the "Preview Window". So please excuse
if I double check with you via the following screenshot.
Preview Window which can be brought up
    a. double clicking the file in Project Assets
    b. double clicking the file on the Expert workspace Timeline
I am going to go over this one more time with my Premiere Elements 11 and Windows 8 64 bt computer to see
if I can create the situation that I am interpreting that you have.
    Thanks.
    ATR
Add On...This especially makes me ask....
When I reopen the program the preview window appears in its normal position.
The Preview Window is going to close when you save/close the project. As you saying that you re-opened the project
to find the Preview Window opened?

  • Is LR 5.5 officially supported in a dual monitor environment?

    Hi,
My LR 5.5 on Win 8 x64 crashes after a few edits when using dual monitors.
Just came off the phone with Adobe Support and they tell me since it seems to be working with a single monitor, there are no problems with the software. The "solution" is to use only one monitor. This only makes sence to me if dual monitors isn't officially supported.  Any thoughts on that?
BTW: LR5.4 works fine with two monitors.

I am having a similar problem, but my workspaces swap monitors whenever I create a virtual copy. When I begin entering a keyword string, both my monitors black out a couple of times in quick succession and then come back. When I crop, the image resizes itself and the crop frame jumps around a couple of times before it settles back to the crop I had selected. A scan for 'dual monitors' on the Lightroom boards shows a number of similar reports about odd dual monitor behaviour. I am running LR 5.6 64 bit.

  • How do I set-up my TV as a dual monitor for my MacBook Pro?

    Hi
I have a mid-2009 MacBook Pro running (OS X 10.8.2) Mountain Lion, and recently I rearranged my home workspace so that I can view my TV from my desk while I work.
I would like to set-up my TV as a dual monitor for my MacBook Pro, so I can stream videos on my TV screen and have the whole screen to do work on my MacBook Pro at the same time.
Is this possible? I've seen people use TVs as a mirror display (where it works as their main and only monitor), but never as a fully operational dual display.
As an example, I would like to have my MacBook screen showing a desktop with the whole screen devoted to Photoshop, while I have another desktop running on my TV, which shows an internet browser or other application.
If this is possible, what cords/hardware would I need, and what are the settings that will enable me to do this?
    - My TV is a modern flatscreen LCD, and it has two HDMI ports in the back.
    - It's about 9-10 feet from my desk.
If anyone could help, that'd be awesome!
    Thanks.

    Yes, you can do that.
You'll need a mini displayport to HDMI adaptor:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/moshi-mini-dp-to-hdmi-adapter-with-a udio-support
and an HDMI cable long enough to reach your TV
(look on Amazon or Monoprice for the best price on any of those parts)
In your display options, you will just choose extended desktop vs mirrored display.

  • How do I move an entire app to a dual monitor? Not just a window?

How do I move an entire app to a dual monitor? Not just a window? I can drag single windows, but if I move a window to the second monitor and hit a button, like 'New', that opens a new window, then it opens the window in the first monitor. I want it to open in the second monitor instead.

Right. Mail remembers as well. I have the menubar set on my larger display, and the main Mail window on the MBP display. When I create a new message, it displays the composition window on whichever display I used the last time for composition. So after the first time I moved the composition window to the larger display, it always opens on that display. I can't remember if it remembers that behavior after taking the MBP on the road, where I use only its display, and then reconnect the second display back at home.

  • Dual Monitor Support

Not sure if this one can be anwsered yet, but curious to know if there is a way to hook up dual monitors on the new Mac Pro cylinders?  I don't mean just mirroring either. I have worked with dual monitors for a very longtime. One I use for my workspace and the other I use for tool palettes. I see that there is only one HDMI port on the new computers and I use DVI monitors. I really don't want to have to buy new monitors if I get one of these.

DVI can be converted to/from HDMI with a simple "all wires" adapter or cable.
Mini DisplayPort can fall back to DVI mode by asserting a control lead on the Interface, so another simple adapter.
ThunderBolt display mode is fully compatible with Mini DisplayPort.
So with the right adapters, you should be able to get six displays working.

  • Dual monitor possible on G3 Beige 300?

I would like to be able to use a dual monitor set up, one for all my menus, and the other for workspace in each program. I am running OS 9.2 now but will be upgrading to OS X shortly after the holidays. Is this possible? What kind of hardware/software would I need. I already have 2 monitors, both 15 pin traditional PC monitors, one already being used by the G3. Any help would be great.

The Mac has been able to support multiple monitors arranged into an "Extended desktop" since the Mac-II days. Every well-behaved Mac Application can be used with it, and the monitors can be completely different and it still works great. The left half of a window can be shown on the left screen in 32-bit color, the right half can be on the right screen in Black-and-White. When you scroll it, they move together. There is no additional software needed.
Each display needs a Video card for its screen buffer. There is one built into the Beige G3 motherboard. Its 2 MB VRAM standard can be expanded to 6 MB VRAM. The built-in had a "two-row" connector -- you need a VGA adapter or Multiple Scan adapter to change to three-row "VGA" connector AND provide the right code so that the right resolutions can be supported.
Additional display adapters can be plugged into an available PCI slot. Mac-specific ATI cards with 16 MB VRAM or more and VGA connector are popular, and well-supported into Mac OS X. Allan Jones recommended a list on a post nearby:

  • Dual Monitor problem and an idea

Hey everyone. I use two monitors and when i have iTunes open on the primary one(the laptob monitor) i am able to scroll through my music in iTunes using my mouse wheel. However, when iTunes is opened on the other monitor, scrolling through songs with the mouse wheel doesnt work and i have to do it using the scroll bar. Other applications such as firefox scroll just fine on both monitors. Any ideas??
Also, I couldnt find anywhere to post suggestions so im just gonna do it here. I think it would be nice to be able to save playlists and then be able to load them if you ever have to reinstall itunes or there is some other issue. I know you can just put the music into categorized folders in windows explorer, but that doesnt allow you to have the same song in more than one playlist unless you copy the music file. I dont think it would be very hard to do, just save to some file that stores the file name and location of each song. then upon importing the playlist, it could scan the saved location for that file and add it to the playlist if its there, and if not it could ask you what other folder it should scan in for that song. I think this would be very beneficial for people that create many large playlists that would take hours to recreate.
    Thanks for your help,
    Adam

I assume you have installed the latest drivers for the card? I have that
card and dual monitors with no problems. By the way, go to the NVIDA
site and download the drivers, not the Sony site as some do. There was a
new version of the driver just last month.
