Creating DVDs with timeline

Is it possible to burn DVDs of clips with a working timeline so that others, not working with Final Cut can view the raw data and be able to discuss the material in reference to time? IE..."I think we should use Clip number 10.26.08.526 from 4:23 to 4:37.

You can make a QT movie file and that will contain the timecode and send just that or you can use the timecode reader effect and burn in the time code on the video then make the mpeg/ac3 files for the DVD.

  • Trying to create DVD with multiple tracks that automatically goes to a slug

I'm doing a DVD for a live show where video and live performance are going back and forth. I want to make a DVD with multiple tracks that plays a movie and returns to a looping black slug (while the live act is happening). Then when the tech person presses next chapter it goes to the next movie (or chapter). That chapter/movie then returns to a looping black slug at the end of the movie (while the next live act plays) and so on and so on. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I would think one of the easiest ways to do this is make each clip end jump to a black menu with a hidden button on it that links to the next clip. The menu can stay there as long as you like. Instead of pressing the next chapter button, get your tech to press the 'enter' or 'play' button... if there is only one button on each black menu, then this is what will activate. Have each button point to the next clip that you want. Use the title button to get back to a main menu, if you ahve created one for the disc.

  • Creating DVD with PDF files and web links

Hi all, first I'd like to say that these forums are a big help. I've spent DAYS scouring through topics learning. Of course, I know this opens it up for someone to post a link to a thread where my question has already been answered. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the specific help I need and would like to open a dialogue with experts.
I am creating a marketing DVD for a product. We produced a video for it, but the client also wants the audience to have access to a large amount of research in this specific field. This exists as PDF files and links to websites.
His previous Marketing CD was just that, a CD made with FileMaker and had the files and links and only worked in PC computers. I do not want to go back in that directions.
I want to make an informative DVD with the video and a few pages of selling points and cool tricks (I discovered multilayered menus working on this!) for those viewing on TV or Computer, and then an option for Computer users to click for more info.
How do I put PDF files on the disc and how do I put web links on there?
    Thanks,
    Byron

DVDSP uses a tool called DVD@Access. It enables a user to link to URL and call such documents as pdfs. The problem is that its never was reliable - especially on the PC side of things.
There have been many of posts in the last 2 days about its use. Do a search and you'll see.
DVD was not designed with the web in mind - it was conceived long before that time. linking to "outside" documents requires a third party tool to take over.
Just beware! - in fact if your client came to me I would refuse to do the job. I've seen the problems that exist doing work like this especially if your distributing to a large audience with different OS sets ups. If one of the users has Vista you can forget about it working at all.
My suggestion would be to design a menu that tells the user the file paths to your pdfs or URLs on the disc.

  • CREATING DVDs WITH RESCUE AND RECOVERY 4.3

I note an option "Create a backup to CDs/DVDs in RnR.  Does this option produce a set of bootable disks which is equivalent to factory rescue disks but which also contains my installed programs?  In other words, does it create an image of the fully installed HDD which can be restored in future?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
in case this is (as you said) directly in the RnR GUI, then this is the option, which will create a full backup of the current state of your system on CD/DVDs. To the answer is YES.
    Regarding your second question:
These DVD's that you will create will not behave like the original DVDs. In case you will recover the whole system using these newly created DVD's then the procedure will be a bit different then the one, that is used by the original Recovery DVD'.
However, the basic is still that same:
    - you bootup from the first DVD, make few "clicing" and the application will do the rest.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
    Cheers

  • CREATING DVD WITH SAME FRAME

Shot an HD video and imported to Final Cut Pro X. Edited my project. Now I want to burn a SD DVD of my project. My DVD comes out with loss of the original picture on the edges. The original frame is larger than what I am getting on my DVD.
The projects parameters are: 1080iHD,   Resolution 1920 x1080, rate 29.97i

I did a quick check and found that if I have an HD timeline, FCPx won't allow me to change it to SD. If that's the case then you'd need to create a new SD timeline and pull your clips into that (simple copy and paste, I think). Then be sure the Inspector Spacial Conform is set to Fit and you will see a black area above and below the film. There are probably ways to output the 16:9 ration in a letterbox from within Compressor  or using Compressor settings in FCPx but understand that your sweet HD is going to be pulled down to SD resolution so it will not look anything close to as sharp as the HD version was.

  • IDVD creates DVD with audio out of sync

    Hi All,
Just created a DVD using a quicktime .mov file. The .mov file, when played on my MacPro, stays in sync and works just fine.
However, I pressed it to DVD using iDVD and about 10 or 15 minutes in, the audio is suddenly out of sync with the video.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    i

Sounds like the video was shot with 12 bit audio. Please make certain your camera /camcorder is set properly to 16 bit audio (not 12 bit).

  • Create dvd with audio starting with Keynote

I've created a Keynote presentation with builds and timings set to a particular piece of audio track from garage band. It's roughly 20 mins with 160 slides.
What is the best way to convert it to be able to play on home dvd on TV or HD TV? I've tried export to QT then iDVD but presentation and audio didn't match worth a darn and I seem to lose the timings but didn't actually measure.

I recently created a 35 slide, 15 minute presentation to put on a DVD and just exported it as an interactive slideshow (quicktime) and then dropped the file into iDVD and it worked great. I didn't have any problems with timing, since I set everything up before I exported it.

  • Create DVD with DVD Studio Pro with Flash Content

I'd like to create a DVD that will run like usual on a DVD player and TV, but that could contain flash files that would run on a computer. Is there a way to do this?

Another app is Sonic eDVD if you want to be able to launch files from the interface. Both have a lot of cons though... You can just add ROM data for the user to browse if you want to too.
You can autorun the flash content if you want, so the user see's it on the PC and not the DVD-Video when the disc is put it,

  • Creating DVDs with "easter eggs"

Folks, has anyone used any of the tools in the FCP suite to create easter eggs/hidden features on their DVDs?
Is that even possible? I'm looking for things like a hidden "image" that if you click you would see a short "making of" or "blooper reel" type of thing.
I searched the forum but didn't find anything (or didn't know what keywords to use )
    Thanks,
    Ismenio

You really should post this over at the DVDSP forum.
Here's what I've done... but by no means is this a complete description...
Create a button on one of your menus without graphic. Change the arrow keys for all the other buttons so as not to 'get' to that button except for a very specific way... say... left button only on this 4th button of 8...
Then, just tie that button to it's own track.
NOW... you must also FORCE the other tracks and buttons for track control NOT to jump to that track EVER. The key to this is to add a black menu that all tracks jump to on end. Then, you script that menu to jump to main menu (or wherever) after 2 seconds.
That way there's no chance of people hitting the 'next track' button and jumping to your hidden track.
Again... much more complicated than that... maybe one of these days I'll do a tutorial on that. Good idea!!
    Good luck,

  • Creating DVDs with Rescue and Recovery 4.5 on Win7 64bit

Hi , I have a question reguarding the rescue and recovery DVD creation.
When I click the Q drive Lenovo_Recovery, the program will ask me if I want to create recovery media or reclaim disk space.
What I want to aks is, does making the DVD disks after patching the OS and re-Partition (the originally just one huge C drive which needed to repartition to smaller system drive) matter? or It doesn't matter at all?

The size of the C drive is really not important during the backup of the Q drive.
Test the backup medium (dvd set, USB) BEFORE you decide to delete Q drive. ie, boot the recovery set, then exit.   If you have plenty of space on your HDD, I would KEEP the q drive.
    ===
If you ever use the recovery set, and multiple partitions(c,d,e), you have considerations, ie will it wipe the whole HDD blank before starting.
    ==
If you are using DVD, disk 1 is the bootable, disk 2 and 3 are data disks. Just boot using disk 1, then exit.

  • How do i burn a iMovie onto a DVD WITH OUT iDVD

There has to be a way to do this i need some help!!!!  I made a movie in imove and exsported it to my desktop and its in a flie .m4v but now i need to burn it onto a DVD,  i am so lost nothing is working PLEASE HELP ME.  lol

trying to burn a iMovie project to DVD
Purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, DVD Creator, Wondershare, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie.
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.

  • How can i author a DVD with multiple timelines so that "previous chapter" actually works?

I am trying to burn a DVD with multiple short films. i used a timeline for each film and a playlist for the "play all" button that includes all timelines. Problem is when you press previous chapter it only takes you to the beginning of the current film youre watching, no amount of double or triple clicking back will work. How do I get around this?

To mix the footage, you should be able to go back to PrPro, and create a 16:9 Sequence. Bring the 4:3 material into that, allowing the black bars to exist, and then Export that 16:9 Sequence as 16:9, for Import into En. You will have the pillarboxing with that 4:3 material, but that is what you want, correct?
    Good luck,

  • How to create a DVD with 2 separate movies?

I'm a coach - and as I break down game film for my team, I'd like to distribute a single DVD with an Offensive film and a Defensive film, on a single DVD.  Once I edit the original clips, I usually have about 20 minutes of offense, and 25 minutes of defense.  Is it possible to open a DVD menu, in PE and just drag/drop my two films into the menu?  I've already made the separate films - just can't find a way to put them on the same DVD - with separate launch buttons.
    Please advise - thanks.
    Coach B.

    Coach B
In Premiere Elements, it is the placement of the menu markers at the Timeline level in Edit that is going to be the important first step. There placement at the Timeline level will determine how they are represented (linked to) the buttons in the menu(s). The menu markers for this are going to be main menu markers and stop markers as per details.
    1. Setting up the Timeline.
Place a main menu marker at the start of the first file of Offense Section.
Place a stop marker at the end of the last file of Offense Section.
Leave a few frames gap between the end of the Offense and the start of the Defense.
(You cannot sit one marker on top of another)
Place a main menu marker at the start of the first file of Defense Section.
DO NOT place a stop marker at the end of the last file of Defense Section.
    2. As shown in the blog post to which I referred you for background information, there are two types of buttons we could use for Offense button and Defense button on the main menu. Let us start with using just the thumbnail type button.
For now we will be assuming the end product as DVD-VIDEO Standard (4:3) on DVD disc.We will use the Sports/(AV)Extreme theme and do some file switching.
    a. You need to get copies of the following files from the Program Data
    sportchannel_pal_s_sm.psd
    sportchannel_pal_s_mm.psd
They are copied at their saved located
    Local Disk C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
    Online
    DVD Templates
    All_Lang
    Sports
and in the Sports Folder are those two files cited above which you copy and paste to an empty folder that you created on the computer desktop.
    b. Switch the file names so that the main menu has the scene menu design and vice versa. And, modify the names so that you do not mix up these modified files with anything else.
So, you want to end up with a folder name mysportchannel on the computer desktop
and in that folder are the two files who names you switched and changed.
    sportchannel_pal_s_sm.psd is changed to mysportchannel_pal_s_mm.psd
    and
    sportchannel_pal_s_mm.psd is changed to mysportchannel_pal_s_sm.psd
Take the desktop mysportchannel folder with these modified files and place it in the following spot in the following path...
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
    DVD Templates
    Common
and in the Common Folder place the mysportchannel folder.
When you go to select this theme in the Movie Menu customization of the opened project, look under the Slideshow catagory.
You should be looking at something like this in the Movie Menu customization area
Lots ot fine tuning yet to be done, detail wise.
    1. Is your end product, DVD-VIDEO standard 4:3 or widescreen 16:9.
    2. Do you want the music background that comes with the original main menu?
    3. Do you want a Play All opportunity? This one allows for pick one or the other then return to the
    main menu.
Please review the above. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thanks.
