Creating Editabe Forms but saving as fixed non-form pdf

I am trying to create a PDF for a client that has 2 editable forms. They want to be able to open the pdf, add info to the 2 form fields but then save the pdf as a fixed, uneditable pdf (no text boxes, no purple bar at the top, etc)
What is the best way to do this?
Thanks.

i think i solved this by using text boxes instead of form fields.
Other users that get the file will still be able to edit them. Reader users cannot change that.
Provided they have acrobat, as long as they were altered to add reader rights they might be able to fill in new blancks they would be able to save the new information.  They could fill them and print them but nothing else.
Go to
Document > background choose add. click on color
choose white. the set opaciy to 1% apply.
Next go to adavnced > Print Production > Flatner Preview
click on apply
save as new file.
won't be able to add or take anything away or edit.

  • I have an 100 infopath forms, but next month all infopath forms certifications get expires.

    Hi All,
    i have an 100 infopath forms, but next month all infopath forms certifications get expires.
    For re-certification i want to re-publish all the infopath forms.
    Now, is there any way to re-certification all the forms with out re-publish.
    Thanks in advance!

    I think here is the simplest way I can think of.
    1. Open Infopath library in windows explorer.
    2. Renew all your certifications using this tool. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/8s9b9yaz(v=VS.80).aspx

  • Resize called form but maintain size of calling form

    Hi,
    From my main menu I call Form B.
    Form B has only 4 items and a menu (DEFAULT&SBAR) is attached to this form. The form B when called is about the size of a $1 bill or £5 note.
    The mdi window in which Form B is contained is about the same size. Just enough to "hug" Form B.
    The problem is that when I exit Form B the main form (Calling form (menu)) resizes to the same size as the called form (Form b).
    Not sure what is causing this. Does anyone know maybe ?
    Thanks.
    N.

    You can add a WHEN-FORM-NAVIGATE trigger to the calling form to resize it's window. This trigger will fire whn the called form is close and the calling for is re-activated.
    Here's an example of a trigger I used in a calling form.
    IF :global.maximize = 'Y'
    THEN SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, WINDOW_STATE, MAXIMIZE);
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('KING_CANVAS', WINDOW_STATE, MAXIMIZE);
    ELSE SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW, WINDOW_SIZE, 580, 365);
    SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY('KING_CANVAS', WINDOW_STATE, MAXIMIZE);
    END IF;

  • Adobe Acrobat form created and emailed but recipient cannot save the form in reader after filling it out

    When I purchased Acrobat today, the Adobe sales rep told me I could create fill-in forms that I could email to others, who could fill them out using Adobe Reader.  When the recipient tried to save the completed form, he was unable to save it to his computer, only able to print.  Is this correct, or is there a step we are unaware of?  He owns Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, but I'm using Acrobat 11 (purchased it today).  Acrobat Pro 9 cannot open the forms I sent...  now we are stuck.
    Solutions?

    Hi DMOliver,
    Please try saving the form as 'Reader Extended' and check.

  • Form once saved, data is disappearing on the offline form!

    Hello
    I am lauching my_form on IE browser on the 3/4 of the screen of GUI (Graphical User Interface of SAP), on the rest of the screen i put some GUI push buttons for SUBMIT (am not using Adobe's SUBMIT button). By chance if user forgets any mandatory field populating, then am throwing a GUI popup message, then the user closes this popup message, well, but
    1) User can see physically data presenting on the form, but when user SAVEs the form by pressing Adobe's SAVE button.....the SAVEd copy on the local PC does not holding any data! all the form is blank
    This is happening if popup comes up and user closes it
    Pls. let me know how can i fix this issue that the form must retail the entered data all the time irrespective of popups
    Thank you

    Thank you. Sorry my original question is confusing, i will put it in the below way instead,
    1st scenario:
    I am launching 2 pages my_form on the IE browser, am entering data on first page, at this point i saved it on my laptop, it saved properly and when i checked the saved copy (offline copy) its holding all the entered data, well.
    Now, the issue is,
    2nd scenario:
    I am launching my_form, am entering data on first page, at this point I SUBMITted the form (am not using Adobe's SUBMIT button, i have my own custom SUBMIT button outside of Adobe),
    2A) Say, there is some errors (example, formatting, madatory fields not fillled, cross-depenedency validations failed)..... my application (its not adobe, i have my own custom application) is throwing some message
    Now, user can see the entered data on the form physically....if user saves at this point, then, the saved offline form not holding any data
    2B) Say, its successfully submitted, then my aplication (its not adobe, i have my own custom application) is throwing a message saying that "Successfully submitted" via Popup
    Now, user can see the entered data on the form physically....if user saves at this point, then, the saved offline form not holding any data
    Issue is coming when messages are throwing...i guess at this point some stuff/memories/nodes/fields/variables are clearing/loosing its data
    Thank you

  • Compiled and trying to deploy a form - an error when calling the form

    Hi!
    I used to deal with Forms 6i and I'm quite new to 10g.
    Is it enough to just replace an .fmx file on the server?
    We have a software product written on Forms 10g which is running on our server.
    I found where working .fmx files are located on the server.
    I also found which seems to be the source files.
    My actions:
    1) Selected one of the forms and compiled it in Bulder 10g successfully.
    2) Replaced an .fmx file with one which I had comiled.
    3) In user interface, press the button which calls my form, but nothing happens. The form is not created. No error messages.
    4) Put the original .fmx back - and everyting works: after pressing the button the form starts.
    What's wrong? Improper way of compilation or deployment?
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanking in advance,
    Roman

    Thank you, Christian!
    You are right!
    According to my last test, when I try to call the form directly from the url (via parameter form=myform.fmx), I get the following:
    1) With the orginal myform.fmx, the form starts
    2) With the form compiled by me, I get error: "Cannot read form myform.fmx"
    Though the file names are identical, the file compiled on windows doesn't go.
    P. S.
    Nevertheless, that's weird for me: I supposed that since Forms 10g is based on Java, the compilation must be platform-independent.
    Edited by: Roman Churakov on 20.01.2012 1:58I think you have just a problem with upper/lowercase.
    .) ensure your fmx is exactly myform.fmx
    I am not sure but I think you get this message also if there is a wrong attached-library-name in the source.
    So if its still not working convert the fmb to text (file->convert...), check if the libraries are attached correctly (case sensitive on UX/LX) the libs are visible in the first lines, check if some libs are attached multiple times, correct that stuff, and convert back from text to fmb.
    Hope that helps!

  • Making the form "Unsecured" for advanced editing tools in PDF?

    I have a Comment Card or Customer Satiscation Survey form that I created through Adobe LiveCycle Designer and I need help... I want to use the "Submit By Email" button BUT I don't want it sent back to me in data form... There is a buttons they click for 1-5 satisfaction and a comment area at the bottom of the form but I want the full form back, not the xml data...
    So my plan was to use the Advanced Editing under the Tools tab on Adobe Acrobat Professional... Then use the Link Tool I believe it is to put a mask over top of the "Submit By Email" button and have it send me back the form filled out... I haven't tested this theory yet because the form is "Secured" while in PDF and I don't know how I can get my idea to work...
    Can anyone help?

    Hi,
    I suspect that the form is "secured" when viewed in Acrobat becuase you have set an open-password for when the formed is opened in LC Designer. This applies security to the form (which also prevents a user from printing to PDF).
    Even if the form does not have the security, you will not be able to use AcroForm tools on an LC Designer form. They are different animals!
    There is a solution, which is in plenty of posts to the forum. If you use a standard "button" instead of a "submit by email" button, you can have JavaScript in the click event which would look something like this:
    var vEmail = "[email protected]";
    var vSubject = "Customer Comments";
    var vBody = "Put some nice customer focused text in here and it will appear in the body of the email for the customer.";
    event.target.submitForm({cURL:"mailto: "+ vEmail +"?subject=" + vSubject +"&body=" + vBody, cSubmitAs:"PDF",cCharset:"utf-8"});
    The submit as PDF command will ensure you get the form and not just the XML.
    When developing in LC, it is best to do all of the scripting in LC, rather than trying to adapt parts of it in Acrobat (imho)  ;-)
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Form created but saved as pdf.

    I originally created a form using forms central, saved it as a pdf to test knowing I needed to go back and correct typos etc.  Unfortunately it is no longer in the forms central section!  I tried importing it but get the message that it has already been distributed.  It wouldn't be that big of a deal but it's a 7 page long form with multiple questions-lots of entry!  Please help.
    This is my 2 form I created so I learned a valuable lesson. Thank you in advance for anyone's help.

    Are you saying that you deleted the original form in FormsCentral? Were you the author of that original FormsCentral form?
    You can't import a FormsCentral PDF form back into FormsCentral. You wouldn't be able to fix any typo anyway since it would be an imported PDF and not a be a form designed in FormsCentral anymore.
    If the issue is only a few typo in the static text then you can make the changes directly in Acrobat.

  • On a tabbed panel, I am trying to create a form, but...

    On a tabbed panel I am trying to create a form, but I am having a couple of issues.
    The coding on my form is yellow - I can't figure out what is wrong. Also, I can't see the tab on the browser, only in live view. I haven't loaded it to my site as I haven't finished it yet. I don't want to go any further, until I solve the issues I have now. Any ideas?

    Gramps, you are always coming to my rescue.
    Okay, I loaded the page under a different name http://abilityaxis.com/test.html. Viewing the source code doesn't show the yellow.
    For demonstration purposes I copied a small amount of the text and changed the colour of what is yellow in Dreamweaver to this pinkish colour (I tried yellow but you couldn't read it)

  • How to create a unique file name each time the form is saved?

    I've got a form with several data items. When the user saves the form, it saves it as an .xml file. So far so good. But then I want the user to be able to start over and put in a new data set. I used the reset form button and this clears out the old data. But when the user goes to save the form for the second set of data, the default name of the .xml file is the same as the last record set. How do I get LCD to create a unique data name each time the form is saved? I know that the user can enter a new name, but I do not want them to have to think that much.
    Alternatively, is there a way that a user can enter several forms of data and save all of the data in one XML file that my PDF can scroll through or that I can import into excel and keep all of the data sets separate?

    Thanks Paul for the post. It sounds like this program is simply not designed for one user to keypunch a batch of forms. It would appear to limit the program's use to users who only need to key in one record/form. While a good solution for multiple users who need to enter just one set of data, the limitation would explain why this program is not widely used.

    I had a similar problem, and i found that the photo was of very low resoluton. As a test I resized the image to a lrager resolution using photoshop CS4 and re saved it as JPG. I imported the new saved image and it seem to have fixed the problem.

  • Form content saved but no longer visible

    I am having an issue similar to a previously reported issue with form content, but not the same.
    I have created a form in Acrobat 10.  I filled it out in Acrobat 10.   I saved from Acrobat 10
    I have viewed it several times in Acrobat 10.   I printed it from Acrobat 10.
    Today, the content is gone, but not really.
    In the privew of Windows File Manager, I can clearly see all the fields are filled.  But if I try to print, the content doesn't print.  If I open in Acrobat, it acts like any other BLANK form in Acrobat.
    Doesn't matter if I'm in Preview or Edit or even in Acrobat Reader.
    I have tried exporting the content and re-importing... no luck
    I have tried selecting all, and changing font settings or visibility... no luck
    As I stated above, I can see the content is saved as it's visible with file explorer, but not in Acrobat or Reader.

    Ok this is strange..  I couldn't find Page Properties - Actions - Page Open under Pages Panel but under Javascript... is "Set Document Actions" and has
    Document Will Close, Will Save, Did Save, Will Print, Did Print which I assume are  default possible actions that are all blank... HOWEVER... when I click  EDIT ALL...
    I get a lot of XML all having to do with clearing and not saving and such in different scenarios..   I highlighted some lines of interest...

  • I have created a form but it won't let me 'save as PDF Form'

    Hi there,
    I have created a form but it won't let me 'save as PDF Form'.
    When I click the button a timer appears then disappears without creating the pdf form.
    I have created forms previously and not had this problem before.
    Thanks

    Are you using the FormsCentral desktop application or FormsCentral in a web browser?
    I would try the things recommended in this FAQ, the issue is different but the fix is likely similar:
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4141
    You can also try sharing your form with me to see if I can save PDF, that would tell us if it is a (very rare) issue with the form or on your system.  If you'd like, share with [email protected] and please include a reference to this Forum post so I know what we are looking for, instructions for sharing your form: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2462
    Thanks,
