Creating effects with a logo..

I don't know if this can be done in Motion or not and some may say I would need AE or Shake but I thought I'd ask. Is there a way I could take my company logo and alter the look to make it into a globe and have it rotate? The last part I definitely know I can do in Motion but just not sure if I can somehow make it into a globe. My logo looks like a strip of film.

Short answer, yes.
Longer answer, the results are probably not going to be what you want or expect.
You can distort your image with a sphere filter but that only creates a 2D image that looks like a sphere. You can eve layer sphere filters and get an illusion of depth. If you can break out your logotypes individual characters, you can place them on a path that actually curves in 3D space. There are many ways to convey this illusion with Motion's abilities but modeling a true 3D primitive requires a true 3D application or a plugin for Motion.

Looking to create effects with documents

I'm working on a video that uses a lot of documents. I already successfully edited in several documents and used various effects like motion, masks, image mattes etc...
Now my supervisor wants to add more since it turned out so well. I'm trying to avoid the same effects that I've already used, so I'm looking for ideas/links to see what else I can do.
The documents are basically jpegs, so I have a lot of control. Does anyone recommend a good site or link that I can visit to get more ideas on what to do with the documents?
I've used most of my tricks and I'm looking for a few new ones.

Others ideas to impart the origin of text on screen are
Shoot a pile of docs on a desk after someone dumps more on the pile, gaussian blur and overlay paraphrased excerpts.
Shoot someone thumbing through docs and repeat the above.
Shoot blank paper coming out of the photocopier and super the text onto it.
Have the actual doc with text highlighted on screen and scroll bigger versions of the text across the frame at varying sizes and transparency.
There are many variations on the theme . . . .

Creating Effects with C++

Hey guys,
I don't know what to do anymore, maybe you can help me.
A few hours ago I downloaded "dev-C++" from bludshed.
Now I tried to load effects from the SDK into the programm, but I don't know how to set the preferences for the project. If there are tips in the SDK-help just post the page number. Just in case I didn't found them.
PS: If you know an other good and free compliler for c++ just let me know. The big problem is just to set up the project and export it as an effect.
EDIT: I'm running Windows, so XCode won't work.

Report designer is used in BI 7.It is a seperate application used for formatting
the report.

It somewhat depends on what the effect is intended to acheive.
Here is a simple behavior script that can be applied to any bitmap. It wobbles, in the sense that it has a radom movement about its axis.
That is acheived with the random() statements. The amount of wobble can be controlled by changing the value added to each parameter on each iteration.
The last three statements keep the wobble from randomly walking off the frame. Again, wobble can be changed by setting the corrective value at which point the bitmap returns to its original state.

Boot from the original Install disc that came with the computer and then format the drive Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using the GUID partition. Then you can re-install OS X. If you no longer have the original media call AppleCare with the serial number of the machine (look on the bottom of the stand) and for a nominal fee they will ship you replacement media.
The chances are very good you will have fan problems if you used an off-the-shelf HD, beginning in 2009 Apple began using HD's from vendors that incorporated heat sensors into the HD. If you did not buy the same type of HD your computer will think the HD is overheating causing the fans to run at full speed.

Or if You want to elaborate a bit more You can first
• make a project where You set text
• Then Export this as full quality QuickTime .mov
• Import this new clip and start a new project where You apply Ken-Burns
OR MAY BE doing it the other way around will work better - don't think that Ken-Burns can be applied last
AnyHow - by Export and Import as a part of process one can make extreamly complex sceens.

Bevel effect with artifact

I have created a nice typographic logo encapsulated in two underlaying outline shapes, one of them has a bevel effect applied to it. It looks terribly nice, except for one spot on the entire length of the path. The path has no compound in it, and there only good curved anchor point around that area. So I do not understand why Illustrator creates a bugger right there.
Created from ground up in Illustrator CS4, no autotrace used.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a solution to this issue?

Examining the path does not reveal any oddities – none that catches my eye at least. I have tried expanding the effect, and it clearly shows that AI has chosen to make some sort of transition on that precise spot.
The peculiar thing is, that when I rotate the whole thing (non expanded effect), the artifact moves along the path, still keeping its position in the upper right corner. This implies to me, that this issue has nothing to do with a defective path.
I have attached a screen shot og the expanded effect.
What do you think?

Need an effect for our logo

For our Web videos, I need an effect for the logo similar to that used by Hulu for its intro. It's short and sweet. Any suggestions?

Thanks to all for these suggestions. I played around with various drop shadow options as suggested in that web page on blurring text. But this technique is aimed at blurring the text, not the image below the text, and none of the blending options for the drop shadow generate the ground-glass look I'm after.
The first suggestion above is intriguing, although I'm not entirely clear how it differs from the labor-intensive workaround I described in the OP. Is the idea to have both the sharp and blurred images in the same PSD as different layers? I'd still need to place that PSD in the layout multiple times, however--once for the background and again in a set of smaller frames to go under each text block in the layout.
Or is there some way to create a frame that contains both the blurred image and text, so that resizing the text frame automatically exposes the correct amount of blurred image? That wouldn't solve the alignment issue, but it would significantly cut down the number of frames needed. My impression is that a frame can contain text or graphics, but not both. But maybe I'm wrong about that.

Creating animations with transparent backgrounds?

I'm running into some problems when using After Effects to create animations with transparent backgrounds for Keynote...
I use animated gifs and short quicktime movies with uniform backgrounds as source files, use color keying to take out the backgrounds, preview them to see if they look OK, render the results as RGB+alpha, and... they don't show up as transparent in Keynote. They work in Powerpoint, however. I've tried outputting as .mov, as .gif, as premultiplied vs straight alpha... no joy. Can someone explain (or point me to an explanation) of how Keynote differs from other programs in its handling of transparency? What am I missing?

Using a TYPE_INT_ARGB BufferedImage worked beautifully. I had played around with Image for hours, but it never occurred to me that BufferedImage would be needed. :)

How to ... Generate PDF from BexWAD Application with company Logo in header

I read many theories (on-line help, sdn forum, google) about creating a PDF document with pictures, logos, texts and so on, but in each of them is some "...but, limitations, only if ..."
The easiest way, I guess is to create a BexWAD Application with item "REPORT" and "ANALYSIS ITEM".
In REPORT - a crystal report page, is saved company logo with text
ANALYSIS item includes data
Via Export (into PDF) those both items has to be exported. The only topic is, how to repeat the report item on each page of a PDF document? There is a possibility to repeat column names, but not a company logos as a header.
I will ask in general -> Does someone has a solution, how to export data from SAP BI into PDF including Logo and Text(Company Adress) in header (which will repeat on each page) ??

I have another idea to create a PDF file with company logo and hierarchical structure of data.
Via Report designer, it is not possible to display data in hierarchical structure, but it is possible to add logo (picture) into header.
Via WADWeb Application designer, it is possible to display data with a hierarchy, but a logo is not shown on each page.
Via InformationBroadcaster, there is a possibility to add into header a free text. There is an option <PR_ONLINE_LINK> . Can I create another element (new, own one), which will contain a picture? How can I edit this element <PR_ONLINE_LINK> ? Would it be possible to add there a picture?
