Creating email folders

Can I make email folders ?

If it's an IMAP based account and you have iOS 5+ installed then yes you can create additional email folders - you should get an Edit button at the top of the list of your current folders. If it's a POP based account then you can't create additional folders.
In terms of photos do you mean copying photos that are already on the iPad into new albums ? If so then again you need iOS 5+ and you should have an Edit button at the top right of the Albums screen in the Photos app, and tapping that will give you a New Album button top left. You can only copy photos into albums that you've created on the iPad, you can't copy photos into albums that were synced from your computer. Also the new albums effectively just contain pointers to the photos - so if you delete the photo from its original folder, it will also be removed from all new albums that you've copied it into.

You can only have email folders on the iPhone if you have an IMAP or MS Exchange account. If you do have one of these account types the folders will be created automatically.

  • Creating email folders that sync with Outlook

I want to be able to organize my mail both on my computer and on my iphone by being able to place mail in different folders. I want to save messages on either computer or iphone and have them sync with each other so that I have the same folders and content in both places.
I created the folders in Outlook but couldn't get them into iphone mail. I then set up a Ymail account and it syncs with the folders and incoming mail but wont sync the content in the folders. My mail account is sbcglobal.net
    Can this be fixed?

You need an IMAP account which is specifically designed for this.
All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes on the server with each email client used to access the account with each mailbox kept synchronized with the server automatically. Send a message with the iPhone's mail client and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account automatically and vice-versa.
You can also create additional server stored mailboxes for the account with the email client used on your computer or via webmail access for the account using a browser to sort received and sent messages by category. Any additional server stored mailboxes created for the account with the email client on your computer will be available when checking the account with the iPhone's mail client automatically, and all server stored mailboxes for the account will be kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
This is not possible with a POP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. A sbcglobal account is a POP account only - it cannot be accessed as an IMAP account.

  • Creating App Folders

I am trying to organize my IPAD by using app folders. I read you can press down on the icon and it then shakes, then you can drag it to another icon and it will create a folder. When I do this it just rearranges the icons. Is there a way to create app folders? I would also like to create email folders if possible.
    Thanks,
    Dave

As was explained in the response to your other post on this issue, this will be possible when version iOS 4.2 comes out later this month. You can currently do it on the iPhone if you have iOS 4.0 or higher.

  • POP3 Email Folders

Is it possible to create email folders on the iPhone itself to manage email when using a POP3 email account?

OK. Then why can I edit, merge and delete folders with my PC and Outlook and not with my iPad or iPhone?
There is supposed to be an "edit" button to permit these features. From what I can find out, this feature is only available with the IMAP and not POP3. I am stuck with POP3 with my ISP.
    Help if you can.

  • HT201320 Does my email service provider have to provide the ability for me to create an IMAP email account in order for me to create Sub-folders within Apple Mail?

Hi, Apple Mail provides a function to create sub-folders within my mailbox so that I can group emails of similar subjects or from the same sender. My service provider only provides POP email protocol and the New Folder button does not appear in my Apple Mail account for that service provider. Icloud provides the opportunity for the iPad user to select between POP and IMAP. I can select IMAP and the New Folder button appears allowing me to create sub-folders within the icloud email account. Does this mean I cannot create sub-folders in my email account unless my service provider provides customers with the option of creating an IMAP email account?
This appears to be a problem for quite a few Apple Mail users, but service providers appear reticent to provide a response other than 'use Microsoft Exchange / Hotmail, Google GMail, or some other third party email service provider'. This is why I have chosen icloud as my email service provider. It is Apple and therefore Apple supports it. I have been a Telstra customer for over 15 years and they informed me today, strongly, that they support their own products and services, not Apple products, even though Telstra sell them. When I asked the Telstra Customer Support Manager whether they support Telstra customers, I was informed 'no, because the Telstra customer is not a Telstra product or service'. I have since cancelled my Telstra email account and am in the process of cancelling all of my Telstra services.

Yes. That is what it means. You need an IMAP account in order to create sub folders on the iPad.

How do I create new folders in mail on IPad and IPhone for saving emails?

You can't do it on the iPad you would need to do it on your computer and the folder will be seen by your account on the iPad and iPhone only if they are IMAP and Exchange accounts. POP accounts are not supported for folders.

  • Creating new folders in Mail

    Greetings..
How does one create new folders under the inbox for organizing purposes? I was expecting to be able to create a "new folder" within any other folder, but all I can find is smart folders, and some other strange option which results in this new folder under the heading "On My Mac"...strange...what's this "On My Mac" all about? Why can't I just create a new folder under my inbox, and organize the way I see fit? This is really odd..

You can accomplish this by creating a new mailbox ( *plus sign* in the bottom left corner of the main window). I think this should say folder, but I didn't make this choice. It acts like a folder. Just click and drag emails from your inbox to these other mailboxes you created. The "On My Mac" just refers to where the emails get stored (/Users/yourshortname/Library/Mail)
    D.
Edit: the funny thing is the icon for the new mailboxes is a folder, go figure.

  • Is there any way to enable rSAP, use the iPhone as a modem, create sms folders, and show the day's calender on the home screen?

    Hi folks
Had iPhone for a while and generally happy, but it seems I still need to keep my old nokia E72 because I cannot seem to use the iPhone as a modem, nor does it support rSAP.
Also, while I like the threaded sms view, I'd also like the option to create sms folders to stash away my banking sms info, all of which comes from different numbers, and filled the sms inbox with hundreds of messages.
Lastly, having the meeting for the day diplayed somewhere on the home screen would be great if there were a way to do it. Yes, I can go into calender easy enough, but unless I develop the habit of checking it all the time, I often forget about a meeting whereas on the old nokia, it was always displayed.
What gives with the lack of flash support? Maybe ol Steve dislikes adobe, but it seems like a serious lack to me. Even the old nokia has some flash support.
Given that, I must say I love the seperate calenders and contacts. It's great to be able to keep home contacts seperate from work ones, but still have them on the same phone. Email is great two - full html support seems like a given but it works really well.

rSAP has largely been supplanted by ABAP, which the iPhone supports. Most modern smartphones, including the iPhone do NOT store any information on the SIM.
SMS inboxes. Not much to say. I've never had a desire to do this. I understand it could be useful, but it's unlikely to change.
As for meetings on the home screen... Wait for iOS 5
Flash: it's not JUST that Steve doesn't like flash. Adobe has failed to produce a workable version of Flash for iOS. Blame has to go to both sides.  I say good riddance to it.

    1. Account Type is IMAP.
    2. The email account is hosted through my hosting package with domains.co.za. What details do your require?

  • Just got a new imac, my email set up fine on it, but I need to get the email folders from comcast transferred to the new imac...how do I do this?

How do I transfer my email folders on comcast over to my new imac?  I am getting email but need the folders which have all my old/saved items.

BTW if this is your first Mac or you're not familiar with how to create folders and rules I'd recommend watching the following Mail tutorials:

  • Creating New Folders

Is there some way to create new folders in the Mail app on the iPhone? I can see where there is the folder at the bottom with the option to move emails to different folders besides Inbox; however, I can't find a way to create for example a "Hold" folder. I have several folders on my desktop's Mail program, but none got transferred to the iPhone when I did the sync.
    Thanks!

if I use IMAP within Mail on my desktop, will my mail "rules" (filters) still function?
Yes. If you have another e-mail client sorting things for you. All of your mail will be sorted when you get it on your iPhone (including de-spammed if your other e-mail program does that too).
Only mail left in your InBox will be automatically downloaded to your phone. If you want to see mail filtered to somewhere else, you will have to touch that folder on the phone.

  • Creating file folders in iPad mail

Is it possible to create mail folders in iPad mail, or is there an app that let's you organize mail into folders

It depends on what email provider your using to make a new folder. For example I use gmail and coustum folders in gmail are called labels. Don't ask me why they are called labels... You can add a folder from the iPad and here is how to do it with gmail.
Open a new browser window in Safari...
Type in google.com in the URL address bar...
Click on Gmail in the menu...
Type in your user name and password...
When Gmail loads, look at the bottom of the page and click on basic HTML...
You can add folder (labels) in two places. From the settings (top right), label tab. Or from the  left hand column, labels, edit labels...
Add the a new label with a name...
You can add as many folders (labels) to you liking.
Click on the email icon app. If the new folder doesn't show up hit the home button and click on the email app again, the new folder should show up.
Once you have done this a few times you'll get a good workflow.
I'm sure you can do this with other email providers that let's you access your email by way of a bowser page.

  • Cannot create new folders in Outlook

I just bought a new PC computer.  I installed MSFT Office Professional Plus 2010.  I opened Outlook and added in (i) the pst folder I had set up from my previous Vista
computer (also with Outlook 2010), (ii) my hotmail account, (iii) my at&t/yahoo account and (iv) my gmail account.  I cannot create new folders in any of them.
When I right click anywhere in the navigation pane and select "New Folder..." I get the following error message:
"Outlook cannot read the registry information.
    -Close and restart Outlook.
    -Reinstall Outlook
-Reinstall Microsoft Exchange or other e-mail system."
I tried all three, including removing and reinstalling Office and removing all of the email accounts/pst files and re-adding and still have the problem.
If I try to right-click properties on any of the accounts, I get the same error message, with the following additional language first:
"Cannot display 'General' page. This page will remain visible, but is not available."
Not sure what is left to try.
    Appreciate any ideas.

    Hi
    Thank you for using

    1.
Start the Outlook in safe mode,
Press and hold the CTRL key,
