Creating Equal Size Wedges in a Circle

I need to create a circle with 32 different "wedges" in Illustrator.
Can someone help me... please?

Maybe the OP is enjoying a thread like in the days of the fair forums, and is anxious not to ruin the possibility that it may keep growing. So far, only 3 ways have been presented. Is that not an absolute minimum of options?
Or maybe the OP has left the building. That would not have stopped us back then, at least not on the Windows side.

  • Creating a circle with 100 equal spaced, equal sized wedges within it.

    I need to create a 100 wedges 'spinning wheel' graphic (like a pie chart but does not require pie chart functionality) with each wedge of equal size and spacing but can't seem to find a process that works. Any help greatly ppreciated.

    Welcome to the forum
    As mentioned above you can try using the "polar" grid tool: width/height = desired, concentric dividers = 0, radial dividers = 100
    Another approach would be the following:
    1.) Draw your circle at the desired size
    2.) With the line segment tool draw from the center of your circle out past the top edge
    3.) Select the newly drawn line only
    4.) Effect (menu) > Transform, Copies = 100, registration point = bottom, rotation = 3.6 (360/100)
    5.) Expand appearance on the line that has the Transform Effect applied to it
    6.) With all the lines and circle selected: Pathfinder > Divide
    7.) Ungroup
    8.) Do whatever you want now with the 100 individual wedges
    Hope something proves useful to your efforts, again welcome to the forum.

  • How do I create Equal Height Columns with my Background Images?

    Hi there,
    here is my page http://www.allthingsprintuk.co.uk/ATPHome.html
    My problem is that the side bar HTML list is coming off the page in IE. & also the html  in the header can look awful due to browser settings.
    My question is how do I create Equal Height Columns with my Background Images so that they fit with the HTML text? Is there a good link you can point me to, or a tutorial?
    The only way I can see by doing it is slicing my images up into 3 (top middle & bottom) & then setting the middle to repeat y????
    Or does anyone know of a way to create rounded corners WITH drop shadows in CSS that will work on all browsers?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to Re org the SQL 2008 database to have equal size data files

    Hello everyone -
    I have I/O issue with our production system (SAP ECC 6.0 on Windows 2008 and MSSQL 2008).
    Following are my I/0 stats in DB02 (since DB Start)
    ECPDATA1     E:     Data       25.779     28.053     4.689     1,056.68     36.297     23.326     2.515     45.301     14.43
    ECPDATA2     E:     Data       23.143     24.979     4.68     593.297     17.971     12.448     1.238     47.663     14.518
    ECPDATA3     G:     Data   9.17     9.807     3.477     1,018.69     36.144     21.938     2.457     46.434     14.712
    ECPDATA4     F:     Data  10.985     11.788     2.69     148.512     4.777     3.248     0.314     45.722     15.201
    ECPDATA5     F:     Data       14.746     16.164     2.676     162.39     6.693     3.679     0.432     44.139     15.491
    ECPLOG1      D:     Log        5.337     27.081     4.916     26.962     26.264     0.037     1.919     726.928     13.688
    ECPLOG2      F:     Log     0.755     17.582     0.487     35.472     35.161     0.042     2.637     845.998     13.334
    The fourth column is ms/op which is very high and also asymmetrical for all the data files.
    Also, The data files are not of equal size
    ECPDATA1     106,173
    ECPDATA2     59,588
    ECPDATA3     105,036
    ECPDATA4     14,992
    ECPDATA5     16,491
    ECPLOG1       1,025
    ECPLOG2             3,199
    So ECPdata1 and ECPdata3 are about 105 GB while #4 and #5 are 14 GB and 16 GB each. As per SQL best practices, all the Data files should be of equal size to get the best performance.
    How do I make the data files with equal sizes ?
    Your help is very much appreciated.
    Thank you
    -TSB

    Hi dudes!
    The key here is that you manually grow your datafiles before the autogrown mechanism comes to play; in fact, SAP recommends setting the autogrow just to avoid the hypothetical case that should never arrive in which the DB administrator forgot about the database size and it ran out of space.
    Otherwise, if you properly monitor and manage your DB you should always grant that at least 30% (to say) of free space is allocated in your datafiles. If you do so, the SQL Server engine should do the rest, as it follows a proportional filling strategy as you can read in SAP note 1238993.
    In case your database is not still proportional, my advise is that you just manually grow the datafiles so that all them are the same size, and so SQL Server will do the rest. If you however need to addresss that immediately, you will need to reorganize your database, which is not just more sensitive and complicate, but also which involves some I/O intensive operations (check SAP note 159316).
    Cheers!!

  • Do I have any function/way to divide the rows into un-equal size buckets?

    Just like the function NTILE divides the rows into almost equal size buckets, do we have any way to divide the rows into un-equal (randomly decide) buckets so that eg. I can get 4 rows in bucket_1, 38 rows in bucket_2, 17 in bucket_3, ..... Only things is that each bucket should have rows from 1 to 50. (fixed limit).

    with source_table as (select object_type, object_name from all_objects where rownum <= 100),
         t            as (select rownum as rn, s.* from source_table s),
         cnt          as (select count(*) cnt from t),
         bucket       as
         ( select bucket_id, bucket_width,
               sum(bucket_width) over (order by bucket_id) - bucket_width + 1 as rn_start
             from
             ( select level as bucket_id, ceil(dbms_random.value(0, 50)) as bucket_width
                 from cnt
                 connect by level <= cnt
    select bucket_id, object_type, object_name from t, bucket
      where rn between rn_start and rn_start + bucket_width - 1
      order by bucket_id

  • After Leopard install I have 2 volumes of equal size

    After Leopard install I have 2 volumes of equal size. One has Leopard and the other has Tiger. How can I delete, remove, or get rid of the volume with Tiger on it? As I have upgraded to Leopard how can tell which one I have, i.e., 10.5 or 10.5.X?
    Thanks for your help.

    For some reason the Leopard installer kept your old Tiger partition instead of deleting it. It's probably your fault, but that doesn't matter...
    Before you do this, back up any data you still want from the Tiger partition. Also rename it to something that will differentiate it from your other volume(s?). Also back up your Leopard partition before any of this.
    Take your Leopard install disk, pop it in, reboot while holding C (or just click Install Leopard), choose a language, then from the menubar click Utilities, then Disk Utility. Once there, click your hard drive (not your Leopard or Tiger volumes) in the sidebar, go to the Partition tab on the right, click your Tiger volume's square (NOT YOUR LEOPARD VOLUME!!!), click the minus sign under that little graph, and click Partition. Then once that's done, drag the little resize line thingy on the bottom-left of your Leopard volume's square so that it fills up the entire area there.
    If you can't make the Leopard volume take up the entire drive, you'll have to wipe the entire hard drive and restore from a backup. Yes, you will have to unless you're okay with having less space then you can. (Why can't GParted resize HFS+?!?! WHY?!!?!?!!??!)

  • How to Create Page Regions of Equal Size

    Can someone please help on how I can Create the page regions with equal HEIGHT blocks organized along the x-axis_ - as in the apex IDE tool menu path (and many areas of apex IDE ): "*Administration -> Dashboard -> Users*" tab (apex 4.0 version)
    You'll notice that irrespective of the report data contained in each of the region blocks on that page, the height of all the regions are well organized along the horizontal x axis and with same heights (row 2 specifically) :).
    I'm having 3 regions on my page with Lists of links. But each region has different number of list-entries, thus my regions are not displaying the same height. I'm using Template 20 and region template as: "Borderless Region". Applying ReportRegiont template also doesn't help.
    To summarize, irrespective of the height of the list-entries shown in each of my 3 regions on the page - Display Point: Page Template Body (1) - columns 1,2&3 - ", the surrounding region x-y height should be same - potentially equal to the y-axis height of the region containing the maximum list entries.
    Thx in advance,
    SV

    Hello SV,
    you can fix the height of region by this way..
    Edit the region
    In Region Header section put
    <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="1" align="left">
    <tr height="350px" width="450px" align="left" valign="top"> //you can set height and width according to you
    <td>
    In Region Footer section put
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    put the above code in all region of your page...this make your all region same height and width.
    Hope this will helps you.
    Thanks,

  • How do I create equal space between multiple tabs in Pages?

    I am trying to create four center tabs with equal space between each but can not fiqure out how to achieve this.  I owuld like to avoid using tables becuase I am trying to make sure the document is fully cross-paltform (Word, Pages, Open Office, etc.). Any ideas?

    K or C,
    The Text Inspector, "Tabs" tab has a box where you create tab stops. Click the plus sign to add a stop. When you are done, make a Paragraph Style to preserve the settings. As for regular spacing, you may have to use some arithmetic to achieve that.
    These settings should be respected by any normal word processor.

    Any ideas?

    I have the following code
    public static int createZip (String directory)
    throws IOException {
    File path = new File( directory );
    File outZip = new
    = new File("c:\\wip\\sams9dbExport.zip");
    boolean boo = outZip.createNewFile();So these two lines will create sams9dbExport.zip with size 0 bytes, if file didn't exist.
    No need to do that....
    try {
    // Create the ZIP file
    String outFilename = "sams9dbExport.zip";
    ZipOutputStream out = new ZipOutputStream(
    tStream( new FileOutputStream( outFilename ) );Probably you are looking a wrong "sams9dbExport.zip" -file. Your application will create two "sams9dbExport.zip"-files, one into wip-folder with 0 bytes, and other into default directory.

  • How to create small size PDFs with reasonable quality images?

    Help me Obiwan Adobe!
    There seem to be several utilities around the web that claim to do this, but I figured I'd ask the experts first. There must be some sort of step by step technique outlined somewhere that enables you to create PDFs that have reasonable image quality but don't come with such extreme weight that they can't be emailed.
    I have seen suggestions ranging from using the Print to PDF function in InDesign (sometimes that works, sometimes not), to exporting out of InDesign using the PDF/X1a preset (used to work ok, but now does not seem to crunch the files down as much as they used to) to adjusting preferences to a lower screen resolution—not in the export or save as dialog box—then saving as reduced size. I've tried almost every technique I have seen but to no avail.
    So I assume there is something I am missing. In builiding an InDesign file that you want to severely compress, is it better to use JPEGs or other PDFs or something else for placed images?
    I know it is alot to ask, and clearly native Acrobat functions are not much help, but I have several uses for this. I do a lot of book design and prefer to send drafts to clients that are at least good enough for them to look at without fuzzy images. I also would like to put together a portfolio PDF document that does not require sending through FTP. In fact most places that ask for my portfolio PDF want it smaller than 1.5 MB. That seems to be impossible.
    So there you go. Somebody needs to write a book. In fact, if I get some good direction, maybe I'll do it.
    Thanks

    If your PDF will be printed to any kind of quality requirement, it's best to stick with Adobe's own PDF tools for creation and slimming, rather than third-party.
    Whatever choices you make for processing multiple PDFs, full Acrobat offers batch operations.
    Depending on your clients' needs, you could consider providing several file sizes. For example, a small one with marginal graphic quality for email, and links to larger files of better quality. If bandwidth and download time are issues for clients, perhaps create a link from each marginal-quaity graphic in your small PDF to a single better-quality downloadable graphic.
    An option for reducing file size instead of lowering resolution or using lossier compression, is to consider creating images with fewer bits-per-pixel. This would affect color more than detail. Just a thought.

  • Create a object in form of circle, line, triangle or other shapes

    i am trying to make a program that creates simple objects, its just a hobby. the problem is i am trying to make an object that is only a line(for now). i mean i want to have an object that can be in a shape of anything in any angle. i like to be able to create a straight line from top left corner to bottom right corner, but i do not want to draw it, i want it to be an object like JButton but in different shapes. how ever i cannot do that. i have already wrote a little test program to show every one what i have, it s not my actual code just a sample.

    }if u see the code, the problem is each of the lines are covering the hole frame not just the green line, and i have to use the contains() method to limit the function but i do not want to do that. i just want it to be an object with out need of drawing any lines. just creating and object with the background color. so for example a JPanel in circular form that is only a circle no extra area around it.
    if u run the application and run it u will see the JPanel behind the green lines is not accessible by the mouse, the status JLabel shows the name of object can be reached by mouse at the moment and canvas(JPanel) will never be invoked. if the mouse is still on line objects the status name will stay on Polygon and it never changes to canvas.
    thanks everyone in advance

  • Create equal grid in illustrator using grid tool

    Hi
    Getting very frustrated, want to translate my vector illustrations to charts for cross stitch kits. Using the grid tool, but the lines aren't equally spaced? I have a 100cm x 100cm document at the moment, with 1 cm making a 'stitch'. I want a grid that is 100cm x 100cm, made up of 1cm x 1cm squares for simplicity. Then be able to print the design out on the grid.
    Is this possible please? Thanks

    AdobeAddict,
    To get actual saquares to align to, and to avoid any funny things that grids may present you with, you may:
    1) Create one 1x1cm square,
    2) Effect>Distort&Transform>Transform, set Move Horizontal to 1cm with 99 Copies,
    3) Effect>Distort&Transform>Transform, set Move Vertical to 1cm (or -1cm) with 99 Copies,
    That will create a set of 100x100 squares that are 1x1cm, then:
    4) Object>Expand Appearance to get selectable squares; you may Ungroup them.

  • Create equal columns in Pages

    Hello all,
    Well once again I find myself turning to the greatest forum on the internet. HELP.....
    I am trying to create columns in Pages, but when I do, they are not equal (refer to image). Whatever I do just does not work, how do I get them to be the same?
    Thanks in advance.

    ************  UPDATE  *************
    I found out that when the uneven column on the right was created, all I had to do was create a dummy bullet line above and then delete it. This allowed the formating of a new line to remain in place and therefore create even columns. It seems a bit silly that an additional step like this is required, maybe I did something wrong setting it up, if anyone has a solution to my original problem, please let me know.
    Cheers

    Hi Daniel,
    Page 50 of the Number'09 User Guide explains how to define columns. Download the Guide from the Help Menu in Pages. Inspector > Layout Tab > Layout Button shows details of the columns.
    To see the column margins, View > Show Layout:
    The blue upside-down triangles on the ruler show left and right margins for Column 1 (the active column where the cursor is). If you thought they were the left margins of both columns, I can see why the columns appeared unequal.
    When setting columns, the default is that they are equal. Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Ian.

    Hi! In the LP8 manual the key cmd. for "undo" is claimed to be exchangeable by the user, but it is not (dimmed). I used to set it to <cmd.-y) - similar to protools, because <cmd.-z> is a rel cripple grip. it still works with importing my old LP7 pref
