Creating executable including run time and drivers windows 7

Hi
Using version 8.5.1 and need to include the runtime version, and drivers for connecting to scope into an executable. Have found so much information on the subject of creating an executable but would like to know if anyone has some step by step for version 8.5.1 to create an executable.   Also, has anyone had any issues with drivers and installing/creating exe. while running windows 7.

Hi!
I remember running the compiler at home on Windows 7 64bit using 32bit LabVIEW and I did not have any problems.  The exe built just fine.
You have to have your code in a project in order to build an executable.  Once you have created a project and included your source files, right click on Build Specifications and choose "New->Application (exe)".  Go through each section of the Application (exe) dialog and input the appropriate settings you need.
You can include the runtime and device drivers by creating an Installer.  Once you have your executable built, you can right click on Build Specifications and choose "New->Installer".  Same thing, go through each part of the dialog box selecting appropriate settings.  Under "Additional Installers" you can include NI drivers and the LabVIEW runtime.  If you have never done this before, it may ask for you to insert LabVIEW/NI Driver discs so it can include what it needs to for your installer.
My users tend to groan whenever I do this, however, as it creates installers >400MB (which seems silly to them for what appears to be a simple program).  Ah well.

  • How to drag and drop a picture at run time in a window displaying pictures?

How to drag and drop a picture at run time in a window displaying pictures on the front panel. The main thing is that the window is displaying frames continuously?

    vivman,
So from your description you have a picture control where you've already created an image and you'd like to drag an image around inside of the picture control. This can be done although it is going to take a significant amount of research and programming on your behalf. You can use the drag event in the event handler to find out when the drag occurs and where the cursor is. Then edit the picture as you move your mouse so that when you drop the picture gets updated.
The even structure is a somewhat advanced topic and the drag and drop feature is one of the more advanced uses of this structure. I would search the example finder (help>>find examples) for "event" and "drag" to see how to use these events. Also you'll want to look at the examples for the picture control.
Sounds like a cool project! Check out Darren's Weekly Nugget 10/30/2006 this topic (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=212920). It might prove useful.

  • Pick a subject area at run time and create an analysis on this subject area.

We have a requirement wherein we need to create analyses at run time. We want to give the flexibility to users to pick up a subject area on which they wish to create an analysis. This will be done through a dashboard prompt. Once the user picks up a subject area from the prompt, we will create the analyses at run time based on the selected subject area.
The problem that we are facing at this point is how to create a dynamic 'FROM' clause for the analysis. As an example, consider the following scenario:
    1. There is a dashboard prompt called 'Select a DataStore'. The possible values are all the subject areas in the RPD. For simplicity, lets assume there are two values DS1 and DS2.
    2. If the user selects DS1, the analysis sql should be:
    select <colgroup1>, <colgroup2>
    from DS1;
However, if the user selects DS2, the analysis sql should be:
    select <colgroup1>, <colgroup2>
    from DS2;
Hence the requirement for a dynamic FROM clause.
I tried using a presentation variable in the from clause but I get the sql syntax error.
Is there a way of implementing this requirement?

To work around the license issue, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article LICREQST.EXE Requesting a License Key from an Object and download licreqst.exe. Run licreqst.exe and find "CWUIControlsLib.CWSlide.1" under the registered controls section and click on it. The license string at the top can be passed to Licenses.Add and then you should be able to dynamically create the Measurement Studio controls. For example:
    Private Sub Form_Load()
Licenses.Add "CWUIControlsLib.CWSlide.1", "[Add license string from licreqst here]"
    Dim slide
    Set slide = Controls.Add("CWUIControlsLib.CWSlide.1", "slide")
    With slide
    .Top = 120
    .Width = 1215
    .Visible = True
    End With
    End Sub
Creating controls like this would have an impact on performance since all calls are late bound. If you are using the Measurement Studio controls in a UserControl, though, you should not need to do this since the license would get compiled into the binary that contains the control. I don't think that you would have any problems creating your control since it would not be licensed.

because aparrently if you clic on the tab advanced in the installer

I guess it is not possible so Is there anonther way to do that?

LabVIEW 8 is only supported for Win2000 and XP. If you need Win98 support you need to stay with LabVIEW 7.x.

  • Creating alert at run time

Our current forms use the MESSAGE built-in to display
error messages. When people are doing data entry and a message
comes up, they might hit the enter key as part of their
processing and never see the message. What we want is
an alert-type screen that has more than one button so that
we can place the focus on something other than OK in order
to make it more difficult for them to miss the error message.
    Something like this:
    while key pressed != 'OK'
    loop
    display message
    end loop
With this scheme they would have to change the focus from the
non-OK button, ensuring that they have seen the message.
An alert would work just fine for this. In order to make
the integration of this new message processing easier we had hoped
to put the creation of the alert and the loop in a .PLL file so
the only change to the application would be to change MESSAGE to
    NEW_MESSAGE in the application's code.
I can't find any documentation on creating alerts at run time.
Is there a way to do that, or some other ideas on how to handle
    this situation?
The applications run in a noisy environment, so having the
application make a different sound might not work.

You just need one alert created in each form, rather you can reference one alert from a template and change the alert text runtime.
    Look at set_alert_property.

  • Custom Installer with Inno Setup (reduce size of Run-Time and VISA RT)

    Hi,
we are using Inno Setup to install our Application. Up to now i include the full LabView 2009 SP1 Run-Time and the full VISA-RT

    p7 LabVIEW_Web_Server_RTE_90\
    p8 LabVIEW_WebServices_RTE_90\
    p9 mDNS_Responder\
    1. Is it allows to do that also using Inno Setup? I mean, am I allowd to do that? The license from
NI etc. are all included. I want to save disc space...
    2. Is that wise? If not, why?
    Thanks

    Hello sjunge,
basically there should be no problem installing the software with Inno Setup as long as you do not violate the License Agreements.
But keep in mind that there could be dependencies between the installers you install and those you don't and you may run into trouble with the software later on
    Kind regards

I want to create item at run time
    is it Possible ???
    thank you

    Hi,
As mentioned several times above, you cannot use Forms for displaying dynamic columns. So, you have two options (AFAIK).
    1. Create maximum number of items and set their visibility off based on the user input.
    2. Create a PJC (may be by extending JTable), and display dynamic columns (i feel it is a bit complicated and not straight forward as it sounds). Here is a [simple howto|http://sheikyerbouti.developpez.com/forms-pjc-bean/first-bean/first_bean.pdf] to build the PJC.

  • How To Include Current Time and Date in Form

Does anyone know how I can include the time and date in the
body of a form mailer? Our system allows the receiver of each
submitted form to copy the body of the form entries and paste them
into either Excel or FileMaker for database building. They would
like to have the time and date also appear somewhere in the
submitted body so they will not have to do a seperate copy/paste of

Can you not use when the email's timestamp?
Also, in z7's script, beware the common mistakes, if you try
to retype it - .getDate() gives the day of the month (1-31), but
.getDay() gets the day of the week (1-7). To make it more
confusing, .getMonth() gets the month (0-11), so you have to add
one to make it human-readable. The script posted is correct, but I

  • How to know last run time and who ran the query

    Hi
I am doing the analysis for all the queries , their last run time and who ran the query
Since there are almost 6000 queries , is there any way to find out last run time and who ran the query
in one step or through any transaction else It would huge effort taking task to check the data in BW statistics
    table for each query
    Regards,
    Vivek

    Hi,
Statistics should be switched ON for all the queries first. You can check this in RSDDSTAT.
Statistics data is stored in BW for a specific period only. This setting can be maintained in table RSADMIN (Field : TCT_KEEP_OLAP_DM_DATA_N_DAYS). If the value for the field is 30, then 30 days old statistics will be available at any point.
Not all the queries will be ran daily. Some are ran daily, monthly and yearly depending upon User requirement.
    1. You can check in RSDDSTAT_OLAP for the details you needed.
    2. You can install the BI Technical Content and run the respective query for the details you needed.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,

  • DSC 8.6.1 run-time and LV2009 executable are they working together ?

    Hi All,
In my application  I first deploy shared variables and when they all have depleoyed the main application starts. My deployment procedure is something like that:
    0. Select first library
    1. check if  library is already running on SVE
    2. if not deploy it
    3. check next library
Most of my variables in libraries are connected to OPC variables. OPC server is located in other computer and there is a LAN network between computers. I have noticed that when I execute my application exe only few of libraries are deployed to SVE. Eg. If I remove all processes(libraries) from SVE and start my application only 7/28 libraries are deployded. If I deploy those libraries manually from LV2009 project everything is okay.
On my computer is installed LV2009 development and DSC 8.6.1 run-time. Our target is remove LV2009 immediately after we have edited and tested  all our variables and libraries. Is there a potential risk that application which is made on LV2009 don't work with DSC run-time 8.6.1?  Have anyone else noticed problem when deploying variables from application exe?

    Meg K. B. ,
It sounds like you are experiencing Time Stamp Counter (TSC) Drift as mentioned in the KB's for the AMD Multi-Core processors. However, according to this wikipedia article on TSC's, the Intel Core 2 Duo's "time-stamp counter increments at a constant rate.......Constant TSC behavior ensures that the duration of each clock tick is
uniform and supports the use of the TSC as a wall clock timer even if
the processor core changes frequency." This seems to suggest that it would be not be the case that you are seeing the issue mentioned in the KBs.
Can you provide the exact modle of the Core 2 Duo processor that you are using?

  • ImaqDisplayImage hangs when running .exe and the window can't be moved when in Debug mode

I am running a multi threaded application with multiple windows, two of which display images but only one is open all the time.  The window displaying the image (using imaqDisplayImage(myImage, 1, TRUE)) can not be moved or resized, the image continually updates though, when I run the app in debug mode.
If I run an executable, either debug or release the following happens:
Everything looks good right when the app starts, all windows are displayed and the live image window is continually updated.
If I click on any window in my program or not in my program, the imaqDisplayImage window freezes and will not udate its image, it will allow me to move it though, and it has (Not Responding) in the title bar.  The main window of my program does not freeze and behaves normally.
I know that an acquisition is still taking place because I have a button on my main window that copies the last grabbed image that should be displayed in the imaqDisplayImage window and displayes it on a canvas (using imaqImageToArray etc . . .) and this image changes everytime I click the button.
Anyone have any tips with dealing with imaqDisplayImage windows??  Thanks!

At this point we want to pinpoint exactly where in your code this behavior is originating from. Try running the included examples which can be found here:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio\CVI\samples\IMAQ\Display
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio\CVI\samples\Vision\1.GettingStarted
and see if you experience the same behavior. If we still experience this, then we know that it is a setting within the functions that we need to change. If not, we know that it is somewhere else in the code of the bigger project which is the culprit.
