Creating Flash/Html Website Front Page

HI, i hope someone can help clear up my confusion.
Im creating a website in flash at the moment. I want the
first page of the site to be am HTML page where people without
flash can view the page (download flash if they havent got it) then
enter the site. Is this initial HTML page which will link to the
main flash site created within flash somehow or is it created in a
programme such as dreamweaver then links to the flash movie?
Thanks so much for any help (im new to flash so a bit unsure
of the complete process off making the site accessable for people
withouth flash and publishing to the web)
Adam

if ur using front page it easy...you don't link to individual
flash files but to html pages with flash embedded in them. you
create your flash website...and make sure you publish it by
selecting HTML and Flash in the publish settings..you embed the swf
file into a html page by opening the published html in notepad
copying the html and pasting it into front page. this html allows
the flash site to be seen. within that html there is a line of code
for an alternate page which will lead people without flash to a
different page..you can change this if u wish to one that you have
created allowing people to download flash player.

  • Want to create flash design websites using creative suite cs5.5/beginner

    Hello everyone! I would really like to learn how to create a great flash design website. I already have website hosting with 2 different companies for two different websites that I have not added content to yet. But I want to add my own templates and and custom feel , design and graphics to and I want it to be great! I have downloaded the dreamweaver free trial and I am seriously considering purchasing Adobe creative suite cs5.5 like tomorrow along with the tutorial that has to be purchased separately. I am a beginner to creating websites and I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or let me know if I am already headed there by purchasing the complete tutorial for cs5.5. Does any one know if I will be making a smart move?

    I suggest a visit to Lynda.com. Check out the video training there. This link will get you a one week trial. http://bit.ly/fcGpiI

  • FLASH CMS websites - secured pages

    Hi,
    I’m looking for a way to build FLASH websites, which the user will be able to edit and control its content himself. You know, a CMS website, but then totally build in FLASH. I already started Googling on this a bit and came across these 2 things
    -          www.flashcontentmanager.com
    -          www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/fcmspro/
    especially that last one looks interesting, but it does cost a 300 dollars for 1 website, which maybe isn’t that expensive, given it’s apparent completeness and easy to use interface, but I still want to explore other potential possibilities.
    What is needed on the website, is the possibility to add text, pictures , videos and extra pages by the user himself. Also, and maybe this is the most important / difficult, there has to be the possibility to make secured pages where the client can view his pictures without downloading them à the man that’s needs this website is a photographer that wants to offer his albums to the respective client for which he made the pictures, online. 1 client should be able to watch his pictures on 1 secured page of the site, another client should be able to watch his pics on another secured page of the site, without being able to download them... I hope you know what I mean, I’m sure you know what I mean.
    I believe this is possible with FCMSPRO on the flashloaded website (between the keyfeatures list on the website I see: ‘Allows for multiple users with different file upload permissions’ – so I assume that the man will be able to provide costumers a password with which they can watch their pics online, without down- or uploading something themselves?)
    Is there someone that can help me on this? Is there anyone that has had some experience with FCMSPRO, Flashcontentmanager or other CMS systems already? I’m curious if I’m going to get out of this. If it will be worth deepening myself in this, or if it will be best to tell the photographer to find someone else for this job.
    Thanks

    The method i showed above does have a front end and a back end. The code i posted above would be part of the image module in the back end for deleting images.
    1. You don't put images and files in the database, you create an uploader that uploads the files (pictures, whatever) onto the server and then writes an entry into the database telling it where the picture is stored, what the name of the file is, what type it is, whatever you need. Then when your website connects to the database and downloads the info and stuffs it into arrays, it iterates through the photo array and downloads the photos as needed using the URL you stored.
    2. Loading into the database is covered with the above tutorial but i'll post my database retrieval code anyway.
    This connects to a database and stuffs each column of a database into an Array. Then if i wanted to actually download the photos i mentioned by the urls just retrieved i'd use:
    3. Some people put them in seperate swfs at password protected URLs because its more secure but you don't necessarily have to.
    flash CMS isn't well covered, i spent a long time looking for tutorials and i definitely didnt find any that worked well. If you're still working through the basics like AS3 tweens, loaders, and loops, then you're going to want to figure those out first. Those are supported well online, though.
    Finally, here's a good example of some flash CMS: http://group94.com/#/flash94/
    Good luck.
    EDIT: Sorry for retracting my code, the client i did it for wasn't happy.

  • Create a Traffic Website Check Page

    Hi everybody,
    I was wondering how I could create a page that will retrieve the data from all the counter on my website because the .Mac personal page only provides the top 5 or 6.
    I am very bad at website design
    Thank you

    StatCounter really is the way to go if you are at all interested in your web traffic stats. It's a free account and there is a DashBoard widget for easy access. The counter itself is so much more configurable than .Mac's simple counter and provides a wealth of information about your visitors and their habits on your site. Amazing really. Flipside is that you'll have to get your hands a little dirty editing your html files. But an app called iComment can help you automate things. Lots of threads here about doing this if you are interested.

  • How do I create an HTML newsletter using pages?

    I browsed pages and really liked the different templates in there. I then created a newsletter and uploaded to my server, sent me the message using newsletter manager basic, and all I got was a bunch of giberish and could not see the pics. Not sure what i need to do, so the newsletter I created in pages becomes an html message. I've done it with word by saving as *.html, but how do I do that in pages?

    Get a copy of Pages '05. It will turn your newletter into HTML. It does not work properly with Leopard (it works fine with Panther, don't know about Tiger), but it is still usable for exporting to HTML. Here is what I do:(1) create my page in Pages '08 ('09 will probably work in this, but have not yet tried it), (2) when you are ready for HTML, select all, copy, then paste into a blank Pages '05 window. If your doc is more than one page long, only the first page will show. All the rest of the pages will show up on your screen as battleship gray. DON'T WORRY. Just go ahead and export into HTML and ALL of your pages will be rendered into HTML. It is messy code and you will have to clean it up a bit, but it sure beats starting from scratch with an HTML editor.

  • Is there a way to import existing front page website to expression web?

    My Husband can't do any programming. He can do his website with his old FrontPage only.
    However we now have Windows 7 on a new 64 bit system and front page 2000 isn't working properly.
    Is there any way to import his Front Page web into Expression Web easily? Or is there a later version of Front Page that would work on Windows 7 64 bit?

    What you do is make a copy of your current website. Then make sure that you are not using any shared borders. Be aware that the only webbot still supported in "include files" because EW will handle that in the local copy and update the contents
    when you save then publish pages. If you are using FPSE to publish you may want to find out how to use FTP because if your host hasn't already discontinued them they will be doing so since they were discontinued in 2005.
    Once you have made sure that you aren't using shared borders make another copy on flash drive, usb, dvd or home network to your new computer. Then simply open the folder you have copied using Site > Open Site and navigating to the location of the website
    folder. You can then enable meta data to keep track of changes. If you husband is used to FrontPage 2000 there will be a learning curve. Had he been using FP 2003 it wouldn't be as great since it supported DWTs. If you go to
    http://by-expression.com/page/EW-Video-Basic-Website-tutorial and download the asset file then work along with the tutorial to learn how to use Expression Web. The tutorial was created
    with people migrating from FrontPage in mind. It does use version 2 instead of the current v4 but at the basic level the only real difference between the two is in the interface where all site functions have been moved to the Site from the File menu so you
    don't do File > New > Website but Site > New Site. There are other tutorials on the site and in the resources sticky at the top of this forum to help in the transition. Frankly, I think EW is easier to use properly than FP was.

  • Creating Links for other Web pages within Flash C23

    Hello Everyone,
    First of all, I'm sure you're tired of answering the
    questions regarding "Links". Although, I'm having a very
    difficult time with this issue. I just purchased Flash C23,
    taken all the tutorials from www.lynda.com, but
    I do not find answers for linking one web page to another
    within Flash C23. I have read all the answers
    on this forum and still can not get my buttons to link up to
    my other web pages.
    I have figured out how to create the buttons, although, I'm
    not doing something right when I try to link up my web
    pages. You have to realize I'm coming from Adobe Golive (no
    need for codes or scripts). I do not want to stop
    using Flash... Can someone help?
    Thank you so much, it's appreciated.

    replace 'siteName' with whatever you use to target your site
    in a browser. 'FranchelleDesigns' is what you named your page in
    GoLive.
    function loadPage(event:MouseEvent):void{
    var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("
    http://www.siteName.com/FranchelleDesigns.html");
    navigateToURL(myURL,"_blank");
    my_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadPage);
    EX: my website is
    http://www.damonedwards.net
    lets say I create some HTML page that I want to link to, and I save
    it as, ContactMe.html... this is what I would use in flash to link
    to it
    function loadPage(event:MouseEvent):void{
    var myURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("
    http://www.damonedwards.net/ContactMe.html");
    navigateToURL(myURL,"_blank");
    my_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, loadPage);

  • HTML website, SWF do a load animation only once. Same file used on all pages?

    Hey all,
    Just going through some thinking here. My HTML website is
    going to using a flash header and navigation. Now I will be using
    the same swf's on all of the pages across the site. I would like to
    play a loading animation only on the first time the swfs are
    loaded. Is there a way to do this? Or because I am using the same
    swf's will it be okay to just tell my mc to go sit on a specific
    frame and because it is in the cache each page will be using the
    same file so the mc will still be at that frame or???
    And help would be nice...

    While Breqent is right that server side includes are the best way of doing this if you aren't up on
    server side coding then you can use Dreamweaver to manage you menu.
    You do this by simply ensuring you never edit the menu area on any individual page.
    It should therefore be identical on all page and as such you can just use find and replace across the entire site or folder to edit all occurances of your menu.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can a web site created in Front Page be imported into iWeb?

    Our company's current web site was created in Front Page, and needs updating. I would like to try doing this in iWeb. Is this possible? I haven't had any luck searching for answers. Thanks.

    iWeb cannot import or edit html. You will have to recreate the site in iWeb.

  • How can I get Firefox to use Front Page 2003 as an editor for my website?

    I have a website called www.gethsemanechurch.net. I use Front Page 2003 to update and maintain the site. Currently this was all being done using IE. However, my IE is now updated to IE10 and I am having problems with IE10. I figured I would try to use Firefox at this time.
    My OS is Win 7 and I am on a desktop.

    How do you use FrontPage now: do you edit your web locally and then upload it? Or do you edit the pages "live" on the site? Whichever browser you use, your workflow does not need to change. The main difference would be when you preview local files: FrontPage is likely to launch the local pages in your default browser.
    With respect to editing ''inside'' Firefox, you can switch your source code viewer from the built-in window to an external program such as FrontPage. However, the file that opens in FrontPage in that scenario will be a local copy in a temp folder, it won't be your live website. For best results, I suggest continuing to do your edits directly in FrontPage.
    Also... if you find that FrontPage is not creating pages compatible with Firefox, you may be able to adjust the settings, or you have the option to change to a completely different editor. One free one I've seen suggested is [http://www.bluegriffon.org/ BlueGriffon].

  • How to create a html page

    Hello,i am very new to dreamweaver 8,and i have searched
    everwhere possible on how to create a html page.My website has a
    navegation bar.And on the navegation bar it has links,like
    forums,your accounts,and etc,but thats already integrated with the
    website.Now i have an option in the admin area,wher i can create a
    new category so that it would show up in the navegation bar,and i
    have a drop down menu where i cans select what to put in that
    category.But also i have an option to put a external url,so that
    when they click on it,it will take them to where that link is
    directed.The point is that i asnt to make a category in the
    navigation menu that says Lirics.So that i can put lirics of songs
    and etc,and that when users click on that link it will take them to
    the lirics page..Do you guys understand?Sorry for the bad english,i
    am now quite good with it..

    The most eloquent description will do nothing for us. To get
    a solution to
    your problem, we must see your code. Can you upload the file
    and post a
    link to it, please?

  • Templates: Is it impossible to create a template-based website with pages in multiple sub-folders?

    When creating html files from a Dreamweaver template, any subsequent update to the .dwt file resets all paths within the document's uneditable regions, undoing the initial "update links" option prompted on first save. This "update links" option, if available after each save of the template file, would be very handy for maintaining link integrity throughout a multi-level site's components (navigation, for instance). However, the option is only available when creating a new file from the template.
    For example, if I create "file1.html" in "folder1" from the "template.dwt" template in "/Templates" , I am prompted on save to update the links in that file. This option would change a link (in an uneditable region) in "file1.html" from "css/style.css" to "../css/style.css" to accommodate the location of "file1.html" within "folder1". Good stuff.
    However, when I save the .dwt file again, with any sort of update, this "../ " is removed from "file1.html" 's links, breaking every link in that file. When using Dreamweaver to create a multi-page site in several folders, I am saddened at the thought of hand-coding and copying/pasting navigation instead of using templates. Is there any workaround?  Thanks for reading.

    Nancy,
    I tried your suggestion and recreated the site cache each time I saved or modified anything, but the same problem persists. Here's what I did:
    I created /template-test1.html in the site root, from the template (the "update page when template updates" option was checked).
    This file included <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css">, as the template did.
    I recreated the cache.
    Then, I did a Save-As to /folder, so the file is now at /folder/template-test1.html
    I was prompted to update links, and I clicked yes.
    This updated the file to include <link rel="stylesheet" href="../css/style.css">, correctly modified from the original template.
    I recreated the cache.
    I updated and re-saved the template file.
    It reset the link to <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css"> to match the original template's, breaking my link.
    Possible Solution:
    Should I switch to setting absolute site-relative links instead of relative links? I've only ever used relative links in my sites, and don't want to have to worry about the issues that arise from that. (The website I'm working on is being constantly restructured, so folder names may change a few times before the site goes live.) However, with all pages relative to the root, I wouldn't have any pathing problems when I update the template.

  • Create new HTML page with white background.

    When I create a new HTML page the background color in Design view is yellow. Dreamweaver Preferences and Page Properties do not show yellow. What to do?
    FredF

    I'm totally stumped as to why the default color is yellow. I do know that
    the website where I'm the webmaster, all the pages have a yellow background
    ( http://281st.com ).  But what that has to do with a new HTML default
    background page color in Dreamweaver I'm not knowingŠŠŠ
    The reason is the background color is hard wired in the body like this:
    <body bgcolor="#FFFFCC" style="text-align: center">
    Now if you are relying on your styles then you are going to be totally stumped because you won't be looking at your HTML code.  In fact most people won't remember to look at HTML code because they assume that because your work is quite proficient, you are not likely to embed styles in your HTML code.

  • Why the HTML copy when creating Flash?

    Just started working with Flash and I noticed when I publish
    a page that I'm working on Flash creates a HTML version as well.
    What I am working on will be placed within an existing site which
    is all html. Not sure the reason for the additional html page and
    what to do with it. Sorry if I'm a bit dense about this but ya
    gotta start somewhere.

    as to what would be used for? the HTML? It provides the tags
    for proper display of the SWF. From the
    help docs:
    To display a SWF file in a web browser, an HTML document must
    use the object and embed tags with the
    proper parameters.
    Playing Flash content in a web browser requires an HTML
    document that activates the SWF file and
    specifies browser settings. The Publish command automatically
    generates this document, from HTML
    parameters in a template document.
    The template document can be any text file that contains the
    appropriate template
    variables—including a plain HTML file, a
    file that includes code for special interpreters such as
    ColdFusion or Active Server Pages (ASP), or a template
    included with Flash.
    To manually enter HTML parameters for Flash or customize a
    built‑in template, use an HTML editor.
    HTML parameters determine where the content appears in the
    window, the background color, the size of
    the SWF file, and so on, and set attributes for the object
    and embed tags. Change these and other
    settings in the HTML panel of the Publish Settings dialog
    box. Changing these settings overrides
    options you’ve set in the SWF file.
    just search help docs (F1) for "Using object and embed tags"
