Creating Formula Key Figure in BEx 3.5 Query

Hello,
I'm trying to create a formula key figures that gives me the Absolute Value of the Difference of two quantities.  The calculation needs to happen at each plant/material level.  It works great as long as you drill down by plant/material.  The users, however, would like to see the results only by plant.
Is this possible in the query?
Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated!
Thanks!
Tina

Hello,
Please try the following steps:
In the query go to Hierarchieparameter and select expand till level and select secound level and check the results.
Thanks.
With regards,
Anand Kumar

  • Currency translation for key figure in bex not working.

    Hi friends,
i want to do currency translation for key figure(invoice value in local currency).
i have followed the steps as under:
1st Transferring Global Table Contents: Currencies from R/3 Systems
2nd than transfer exchange rate - from r/3 to bi
3 than In SPRO settings of BW there is option "consider translation ratios in translation"
4th than used transaction RSCUR for creating currency translation type: parameter(exchange rate:m, soure currency fom data records, target currency ISK, time ref: current date)
5th than in BEX query designer have sated this for key figure
but when i run query in RSRT, curreny amount not getting convert?
    am i missing any step?
    pl. guide.
    thanks dushyant.

    Hi Dushyant,
Are these steps followed in Query designer??
In the Query designer, for that particular key figure property, under Conversion tab >> Currency Translation >> Conversion Type, select the currency translation type you created in RSCUR.
And in the target currency, select accordingly.

  • Difference between Formula, Formula Key Figure & Formula Variable

    Hi Experts,
I have a basic question in my mind:
    1) What is the difference b/w Formula, Formula Variable, Formula Key Figure?
    2) What is the difference b/w Selection, Filter and Restriction?
Can you pls explain with some scenarios? That will be helpful.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
You are right, these are basic questions and can be learnt just by a little bit searching. So search the forum before posting such questions please.
    Nevertheless :
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BI/CalculatedKeyFigure+RestrictedkeyfigureFilter
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/61/d0b143aa26b849b4e79a859ea1d7d1/content.htm
    Scenario:
You want to see the revenue that you get from Product A,B,C in the country of D and E.You also want to calculate a bonus value that will be given to distributors and this revenue will be calculated based on the user's input.E.g user inputs 5 and you give 5% of the sales to distributors. Then here, to get the input 5  and TO USE IT IN THE FORMULA ,you must create a formula variable. You also  must a have key figure revenue to see the revenue of course and a calculated key figure(or a formula) called bonus value = formula variable*revenue/100 to calculate the bonus which will be given to distributors.
The other thing you must do is restricting product with A,B,C and country by D and E just by right clicking on them  in query designer. What remains is the selection.Let's say you also want to see the total sales of A and B.Then create a selection in the columns then restrict it by dragging and dropping A and B and the key figure revenue.
By the way, filter(tab) is used to restrict the data coming from cube and affects everything in the report(in contrast to the restricting  selection, because restricting selection affects only the selection, not other fields of the report)

  • Documentation for Formula Key Figure

    Hi BW Gurus,
I have a Formula Key Figure which has been defined in a local key figure structure. This key figure is based on a two standard Key figures which exist in the Cube.
How can I create Documentation for this formula key figure, so that user can see documentation after right click in the Key figure in the query result.
I have tried followings, but did not work.
    1) Go to Properities of the query and go to Documentation . In the next screen, create documentation directly using the technical name of the Formula key figure.
    2) Go to Documentation in RSA1 and create documentation using the same way(technical name).
In the query result, I am getting error " Query element does not exist in database".
    Thanks in advance.

    hi ,
Probably you should go for Cell definitions. But if you use Cell definitions, then query will slow down. But if you need the way which you described, it can be acheived by cell definitions.

  • How to create a key figure in SNP plannignbook which generate FA type order

    Hello
trying to create a Key Figure in SNP planning book which generates FA type orders
could kindly suggest how to do it?
    thanks
    elena

    Hi,
You would be having different key figures in SNP. The type of orders that you see in Key figure is driven by type of categories or category group that you assign in planning area to each key figure. You can modifiy these cateogry groups in IMG settings.
When you manually create a forecast through a report then automatically you will see those orders in key figures where you have assigned the category FA.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to show filter values of restricted key figures in BEx Analyzer?

    Hi,
    I have following report.
                         Quantity USA        Quantity China
    Product           100                        150
Quantity USA is a restricted key figure using key figure 'quantity' and a restriction on characteristic 'country' = USA
Quantity China is a restricted key figure using key figure 'quantity' and a restriction on characteristic 'country' = China
I notice that when I put only one of these resticted key figures into the query, there is a line in the filter area of the report in the BEx Analyzer that shows the characteristic 'country' and the value on which it's restricted in the restricted key figures.
    E.g.:
    Country          USA
                         Quantity USA
    Product           100
If I put both restricted key figures in the query, this line is not shown.
Does anyone of you know how I can display this line again when using multiple restricted key figures like this in the query?
    Thanks!

  • How to create Basic Key Figure, Key Figure and Characteristic

    Hello Gurus,
I have copied a standard layout of KP06, named it as a Z- layout and made changes to it, like defined the plan data upload field as Object Currency enabled.
However I want to add a Z-Field , tax holiday unit as a column to this layout which I am not being able to do. The reason is when I go to Insert a new element from Edit > Element > Insert Element and click on 'Key figure with Characteristics' I do not get the Z-Field as a key figure.
I want to define the Z-field as a key figure, so that I can add it as an element.
Would be really nice of you if you can let me know the t-code/menu path to do that.
    Regards.

    Hello Gurus,
I wanted to share this information with you, hoping this will help you to help me.
I also tried to create a Key Figure in t-code GS32. In the table I mention --> FAGLFLEXR and hit enter. It says no Key figure has been defined for FAGLFLEXR. Then I put the cursor on the 'Reference Entry'and click on copy. Then give the name of the Key Field I want to create.
'Create Key Figure' dialog box appears. When I input the 'Row Text' 'Column Text' and click enter, I am getting an error 'The basic key figure  entered for table FAGL is not defined'. I go back and do an F4 on 'Basic Key Figure' field, then I do not get any options.
I would be highly grateful if you can let me know how to create this 'Basic Key Figure' for table FAGLFLEXR.

  • Using Explorer with Calculated Key Figures from BEx (BW 7.31 / BI 4.1)

I'm looking for suggestions on how to leverage data from calculated and restricted key figures in BEx (from a BW 7.31 system) with Business Objects Explorer (from a BI 4.1 system).  Our current process involves some complicated workarounds and with the implementation of BI 4.1 and I'm hoping to streamline things a bit.
Here is what I had in mind...
An information space (indexed daily) sitting on a universe (hopefully UNX) that referred to a BEx query on a multiprovider in BW.  My understanding was that universes would be able to consume BEx queries (including their restricted and calculated key figures) in 4.1.  Based on a recent post (http://scn.sap.com/thread/3417905), it appears that the feature that I was hoping for may have not made it into the GA release.  Obviously, I could move the calculations and restrictions into BW ETL or maybe into the universe, but since that work has already been done and lives in the queries, I'm hoping to use them!  Also, we could use a different tool such as WebI, but at this point the user base is comfortable with Explorer and we would like to continue to use it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!
    -S

    Hi McDowell,
Regarding to the BEx connection in Explorer, SAP provide two solution
    1. BWA connection
    2. Unv on top of connection
For the UNV situation, you could use the calculated / restricted key figure in the system but please assgin the aggregation level for them (Database delegate is not supported if I am not wrong)
    Also plese consider two points
    1. Data size (UNV cannot support large data size)
    2. Scheduling (Explorer does not support event trigger? correct me if I am wrong)
    Best regards

  • Sorting a Key Figure by default in a query

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up a query with a key figure that is sorted in descending order by default everytime.  I tried creating the following condition:
    Key Figure - Sales Volume
    Operator - Top %
    Values - 100
This sorts the key figure in descending order to a point.  When I add a characteristic to the report (for example, sold to), the sorting is no longer active.  I would like this key figure to remain sorted in descending order regardless of the any manipulation to the report.  But, I'd still like the user to have the ability to change the sorting if they want to sort by another key figure (ascending or descending)
I'm using the BI 7.0 Query Designer.
    Thanks!!

    Check this:
Sort Key Figures and Maximum query result
Organising key figures in BEx Query Designer
    ordering display in a KF
    Hope it helps..

  • Key Figure in a Input Ready Query

I have 9 key figures in my input ready query. 5 of them are not input ready and being loaded through a job and 4 are input ready. There is a problem with one key figure, I am able to see data for the key figure when i have START QUERY IN THE CHANGE MODE turned off. But once I turn it on it is not showing any data for the key figure. This is happening only wiht that key figure, all the other key figures are working fine. Could someone help fixing this
    Thanks
    Rashmi.

    Hi,
I do face this type problem during my BI IP implemenation project. Pls chk thoroughly the following points.
1.The planning mode of your real-time infocube should be on always on( you need change from load to planning mode, while inputting data).
2.The START QUERY IN THE CHANGE MODE , should be on.
3.In the planning tab of key figures, ensure you enable the button : Data can be changed using planning functions.
4.In the advanced tab of key figures, pls make sure to enable the right button( Master data).
5.Pls make sure  , the real time infocube, aggregation levels, filters etc, should be refreshed & active,if make any changes in planning model in between, in Aggregation levels, filters etc.
    6. Pls chk the locks( SM12) always, and delete all of them, if any.
    7. Log-off the  Server (BEX/DWWB) and restart the BEX ,then open your Input query, it should work .

  • Do i have to select all the key figures when i design a query off of a cube

Do i have to select all the key figures when i design a query off of a cube? i have three keyfigures on the top of the three keyfigures it says calculated keyfigure. kind of lost dont know what to do. please let me know.
    Thanks!
    York

No, you have to select at least one.
Calculated keyfigure (CKF) means it's a formula of two or more other keyfigures. You can select, right-mouse click, display properties and you see how it is composed.
Under calculated keyfigures you see all available keyfigures of the infoprovider you build the query on. Just move them by drag-and drop from the left to the right into the columns.
You can have also restricted keyfigures (RKF). This means a keyfigure is restricted by one or more characterstics and their values.
    Hope you got an idea.

  • Formatting Restrcited Key Figures in BEx

Hello - I am certain a lot of you experience this
Need to format an output that looks like the following:
    <blank>  Col1   Col2   Col3
    Text1    RK1    RK2    RK3
    Text2    RK4    RK5    RK6
             etc..
    where
    RK = Restricted Key figure
Col1 and Col2 Key Figures (RK1, RK2) are ZMOUNT1, ZAMOUNT2 restricted by same Commitment Item Range
    (e.g., 1000 - 2000)
Col1 and Col2 Key Figures (RK4, RK5) are ZMOUNT1, ZAMOUNT2 restricted by different Commitment Item Range
    (e.g., 4000 - 5000)
    Similarly,
Col3 Key Figures (RK3, RK6) are ZAMOUNT3 restricted by different GL Account Ranges
ZAMOUNT1, ZAMOUNT2, ZAMOUNT3 are base key figures in InfoCube
    end of example----
The result needs to be in Excel Output in batch - which I will do via Reporting Agent
    Is this possible without:
    a. Excel Macros
I could create an output that looks like
    RK1, RK2, RK3, RK4, RK5, RK6
and use Excel to place the key figures in particular cols.
    b. Without using the Table Interface Class
Not sure how this would work because the class methods run AFTER query is run
IS THERE BEx functionality / Query Designer / WAD functionality that can help me accomplish this??
    Many thanks
    -ap

    Hi AP,
    Welcome to SDN!!!
    Theorethically it should work:
Create a structure in rows with 2 selections, Text1 & Text2; a structure in columns with 3 selections, Col1, Col2 & Col3. All selections are just having provided descriptions, without any chars or KFs.
Using cell editor you can define all needed formulas and descriptions for particular cells.

  • Button for changing scaling of key figures in BEx?

    Hi everybody!
Does anybody know if it is possible to create a button in BEx Analyzer for changing the scaling of all/certain key figures?
Is it possible to use functions from the BEx API? I don't want to use Excel formulas like "divide by 1.000".
    Thanks in advance,
    Joerg

    Hi,
you cannot  create button in Bex analyzer....infact you can change it's properties at the local view level once the query is run in the key figure properties when you execute the query thorugh bex analyzer....you canot put a buttin justto change the scaling factor...aslo you can change this at the ewb template level...if you run the query on the web.....
