Creating .gif pictures?

Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this, but does anyone know of any software that is easy to use for creating gif files? I am not sure if any of the software that came with Leopard is capable of doing this or not.
Thanks in advance?

The Mac OS X program Preview offers limited GIF image support and editing. iPhoto* does too. For more full editing features see:
http://www.lemkesoft.com/ 's GraphicConverter
and for animation, see:

- * iPhoto does not come with Leopard, but rather comes with Macs that ship with Leopard. It is a part of iLife. To learn which Macs have iPhoto bundled with them, see this user tip:

    A good program for making animated gif files is iDraw.
    It's free, easy to use and you get it here:

  • Animated gif picture support for iphone 4s or iphoto app

    i love it to use animated gif pictures in the imessage chat, but it is still not possible to view these pictures in the camera roll or in iphoto.
    would bw great if apple would make it work to play gif pictures in original size.
    ether in iphoto or in the iphone camera roll
    editing gif in iphoto would be freakin awesome

    It's not likely that Apple will add gif animation support into iPhoto, not even the desktop application supports it.
    As far as viewing animated gifs saved in your camera roll, there has been a work around to select the gif and share it using the "Email Photo" option. The gif will play while in the email compose box and when you're done viewing it you can simply press cancel to quit the compose email mode.
    Search the app store there are lots of apps that allow you create animated gifs and you may even find some that will let you view them more easily.

  • GIF pictures in iphoto

    Today i downloaded some GIF pictures and i dragged them into iphoto and GIF pictures are supposed play like movies but pictures. On the website they played but not iphoto and also played in preview. any ideas what is happening?

    I believe that you are confusing gif as an image format with the ability to use gifs to create animations. I don't believe that iPhoto has the ability to play gif animations, so all that you will see is the 1st gif in the file.
    You will need another app for running the animations. You already know that you can run them with preview.

  • .gif Picture not appearing in design panel

    I have a .gif picture not appearing in design panel but it
    appears in the browser preview.
    <div id="footerPanvalid">
    <image src="images/valid-xhtml10-blue.gif" alt="Valid
    XHTML 1.0 Strict" height="31" width="88" />
    </div>
    #footerPanvalid {
    position: relative;
    right: 200px;
    padding-left: 300px;
    z-index: 23;
    valid-xhtml10-blue.gif also appears in the assets panel
    Any ideas whats going on?

    Put a border around #footerPanvalid to make sure that you can
    see it in
    Design view.

  • How to create a picture presentation with text ?

    I need to create a 2 minutes video of a Bus rental company, the video has to be created with pictures text and voiceover, the text will be the subtitle of the voiceover so that the video can also be used without audio...
    I would like to make it in FCPX but I never worked with pictures in video, is there any cool plugin that you know or any particular method to create nice slideshows in FCPX ??
    Any other suggestion is welcome.
    Thanks a lot !

    I'm not familiar with any slideshow plug-ins compatible with FCPX and a quick search didn't turn up anything very promising.
    But FCP itself has plenty of capability for creating multimedia projects like this. Keyframing is pretty straight forward (easier than the old FCP) and gives you plenty of control over timing of moves and effects. And you should be able to use the stock titling tools to do your sub titling.
    Another approach would be to use iPhoto or Aperture (or some third party photo editor) to make your slideshow. (You could use one of the photo editor slideshow templates if one of them appeals to you.) Then export the slideshow as a Quick Time movie and bring that into FCP to edit your audio and subtitles into the presentation. Keynote could also be used like this.)
    Finally, if you are (or can get) comfortable working in Motion, you can create compositions that will be both and impressive and unique to your client.
    Good luck.

  • Has anyone created a PICTURE BOOK in iBooks Author?

    I am coming up against an issue that I wish I had known about before investing my time in iBooks Author and that is the the apparant inability to create our picture book and not give away the plot of the entire book on the second page in the TOC that shows all the pictures (our pages) for our book. My question is, has anyone been able to eliminate the TOC with the row of pictures at the bottom of the TOC for your picture book and still get your book published? If so, can you tell me your title so I can see it? Thanks!

    We are building a video ebook, using text, filmed video clips of the characters, still pics and audio and want to have it released in this IBA format according to what we think is proper as far as presentation is, to our audience. The problem of incorrect formatting for a children's picture book in IBA is very much there. Part of this issue is creative control and the other part is unnecessarily revealing the visual storyline on the first page of the book. Thanks for your input though.
    Again, has anyone produced a children's picturebook throuh IBA that has made it through the vetting process, and is for sale in the iBookstore? Would love to see it and how you formatted it and, I  just might be a customer!

  • Can I create a picture in picture overlay?

    Can I create a "picture in picture" overlay?
    I have 5 articles. When I'm on a page in one article, can I have another article show up on the page in a box? Kinda like picture in picture TV?
    My instinct is no, but thought I would ask the experts..
    I guess it would be similar to having a external webpage overlay in your folio, but what about different articles..

    Not directly a different article. You can mimic it using scrollable frames and/or a web overlay, but you can't get it to contain another DPS article.

  • If I create a picture in Photoshop on my Mac will I be able to show it on a windows computer?

    f I create a picture in Photoshop on my Mac will I be able to show it on a windows computer?

    You will be able to show it on a Windows computer without any problem. Photoshop uses the same file format on Windows and OS X, so you can see pictures created by Photoshop on computers with OS X or Windows

  • Creating new picture albums

    Simple question: How can I create another picture album?
    Whine: The iPhone only has "CameraRoll" as the only store for pictures. How can I create another album? Since I want to use the iPhone for presentations (but it only shows videos and pictures in the camera roll on slideshow mode, but showing every picture of my daughter in the mean time), there must be a way to create a new album, so I can use that for presentations (since I can't use the iPhone for displaying powerpoint).

    You cannot create albums on the iPhone. You must create them on your computer, wherever you are syncing the pics from. On a Mac, that's iPhoto. On Windows, that's by creating subfolders in the folder you select for syncing pics.

  • I've lost my photos (crashed hdd, iPhoto library on Time Machine corrupt too).  Is there a way to create a picture from the thumbnail that remains in iPhoto?  The quality is obviously poor, but better than nothing.

    Time machine should have a good copy - how are you determining that it is corrupt
    If you want the thumbnails as photos right click on the iPhoto library and make a copy of the data folder and then import it into a new iPhoto library - it contains your thumbnails

  • Moving gif Picture on the desktop

    On my old pc, I had a gif picture on the desktop that moved. It was an American flag waving in the wind. I would like to have that on my iMac. Is there a way I can do this? Help is appreciated.

    This might solve your problem: Open IPhoto and click on Share, select Desktop. Then go to System preferences, select the Desktop and Screensaver, then select Choose Folder, then select IPhoto, and a new folder called IPhoto should appear along with the other background folders (e.g. Plants, Pictures Folder). Click the new IPhoto and select the photo you want. In my case, I like to select the feature that allows random changes every 15 minutes. Hope this works.

  • What to use to create a picture and video slideshow/presentation?

    I was curious as to what someone would use in order to create a picture and video presentation/slideshow?
    I think that iPhoto does a good job with getting all your pictures in order, and then using the templates and choosing your music to create a slideshow. However, if one wanted to include some video and narration into the slideshow, I imagine that they would need to use iMovie as well.
    I know that you can drop images into iMovie as well, and I think they are automatically given Ken Burns effect, but if you have a lot of images, I think it gets pretty tedious working with all those photos, when iPhoto will already do all of that for you.
    So, long story short. I would like to make a presentation with video and images. I would like to use multiple songs, and possible trim the amount of each particular song down, so there is some sort of mix/flow from one song to the other. I would also like to be able to record a narration and include it in the slideshow. I know that iMovie does a lot of that...I saw the narration feature, and the ability to trim the songs back some, and include more than one song. It also has the ability to choose only the portion of video that I want. So would you pre-create the photo portion of your slideshow in iPhoto, convert it to a movie, and dump it into iMovie? That seems clunky.
    What process would you use? In my mind, I picture using a program that had some sort of timeline in order to be able to fine tune the audio and video, and iMovie has a timeline of sorts.
    Currently running iLife '09.

    I've been working for the last three weeks on a project like the one you describe. It turns out to be far beyond my limited competence, but I'm committed and have to trudge on.
    Mine may be a little different from yours in that it has the equivalent of 106 "slides." There are twenty video. The "stills" are either text I've made in Word and saved to iPhoto as a pdf doc or photos. I've engaged actors to read the text that goes with most of still-slides. I thought I could create individual slides with the sound 'attached,' string them together and then make a movie out of the Power Point or Keynote slide show.
    Nothing has worked so far.
    iMovie has been a special heartbreaker. I've had at least a half-dozen chats with Apple Care and a couple of trips to an Apple Store to solve one challenge after another.
    I can help with  Ken Burns. Tedious is not a strong enough word, and the 'help' menu is not helpful, because it is Wrong., The controls are NOT the least bit intuitive. In fact, they make no sense - at least to me.
    [I gave up on iMovie the first time because of Ken and the absence of intelligible instructions to make him leave.]
    (1) Not finding the control. "Help" says to click on the crop icon on the tool bar (between mic and i) or to type "C". All I get is the crop function - Ken is nowhere to be seen.
    (2) Finding it. The crop icon that should have been designated is accessible when you select a still photo. The hand icon appears; on the left side there is column of three icons. On top is Crop; the middle is the duration for the still - the default default is "4 s" // the bottom icon is the gear. Click the gear; there are four rows of choices; click the one at the bottom  "cropping, Ken Burns & Rotation". At the top left corner there are three boxes "fit | crop | Ken Burns"// select "Fit" and Ken Burns is turned off. Why is "fit" is the opposite of "Ken Burns"? I don't know.
    Here's a warning and a sad tale. I spent about three days getting the first 64 still/videos/transitions and audio clips assembled the way I wanted them.The audio for 65 went in okay and it looked okay, but nothing would make it play. 66 was okay but not 67 or any subsequent attempt - although the videos after 67 were okay.
    During my final Apple Care conversation the diagnosis was: "corruption." Start over again with a new project!
    I could select, copy and paste the visuals in those three moves, but the audios had to go over one at a time. Since you can't have two projects going at the same time, I'd have to copy one audio clip from the old project, select the new project and wait for it to come up, make the paste, and then wait for the old project to come up.
    So watch out. I gave up on iMovie because the recreation of a new project would be so agonizing and with such a big project, I don't know how to avoid "corruption" for sure, and neither did the guy at Applecare.  I switched to iPhoto, but after a day I realize that it's audio capability requires a process as tedious as trying to redo the iMovie.
    Final Cut Pro is probably the right program but that's a whole other thing.
