Creating graphs/charts in BEx Analyzer - BI 7.0

There is no design item for creating graphs / charts in BEx analyzer. We don't have web server/portal.
There is a chart button in default workbook, which switches table/charts views.
How do I create charts in custom workbook.
Also, how do I do precalculation of workbook w/o Broadcaster.
Thanks
Swati

  • Charts in BEx Analyzer - What are the Options in Excel 2007?

    Hi Gurus!
The client wants to generate Tables and Charts in BEx Analyzer and e-mail to users.
We are using BEx 3.5 queries with on BW 7.0 and Excel 2007.
We are not allowed to convert to 7.0 queries, but can convert Workbooks from 3.5 to 7.0 , leaving the embedded query as 3.5.
Basically, We'd like to run one query and set of selections and use various subsets of the data to generate five charts.
End user would not accept entering five sets of selections into five charts.
Do we have an option for using 3.5 query and 3.5 or 7.0 Workbook functionality to control the output of the chart?
( I have used Charts in BEx Web and WAD, but not the Excel front end.)
We could output the table in use Excel functionality to generate the graphs, but is there a better way?
    Thanks,
    John Hawk

The BEx 3.5 query in 7.0 works quite well. The Design icon Add-In features seem to work fime.
An Excel chart can easily be created from the data output, and the chart is refreshed as the data is refreshed.

  • Create local view with Bex Analyzer 7.0

    Hi,
with the Bex Analyzer 3.5 it was possible to create and use a local views based on a query in a workbook.
With this "workaround" it was possible to create just one Query for different views and charts.
Is there something similar in BI 7.0???
I know there is a query view, but this is not what i want.
    Thx a lot.
    Br
    Mike

I think the reference is to the BEx 3.x Change Query button. You had the option in a refreshed query or Workbook to Change Query Local View or global view.
With Change Query Local View it was easier for a user with no global change authorizations to drag and drop, rearrange and change properties of their query results as needed. Then they could save locally as a workbook and each time they open it the personalized version can be refeshed as such, all without having to change original query.
How do users do that in 7.0?

  • Variable assignment "Create" link opens up BEx Analyzer

In a portal environment we're testing with, we are running into an unusual issue:
In BEx Broadcaster, We open up a setting created for a particular query.  In the General Precalculation tab we are trying to create a variable assignment (Select VAR_01 from dropdown menu -->Create "link"), but when we click on the "Create" link, we're getting the BEx Analyzer instead of the variable screen for that query (doesn't work for any query, but for workbook settings, it works fine).  The following has been checked:
    ms/redirect_version is set to 1
BI Support Desk tool is all GREEN
Assertion ticket setup is correct (at least I think it is)
I can also pull up Information Broadcasting directly from the backend system (sap/bw/Bex) and the variable screen comes up okay.
Any ideas of some setting we're missing in the portal/backend?   Thanks for any help.
    (We're using NW SP 17 with BI-Java 17/23...BI Backend is NW SPS16)

UPDATE:  fixed by updating support pack to BI JAva 18 (from 17/23).  The solution doesn't make much sense, but we've learned to just accept these sort of things in faith

  • "How to create graphs in Reports"

    Hi All,
Please anybody help me how to create graphs in the BEx Analyzer and whenever the reports will be refreshed the graphs should also be refreshed with the updated data.
    Help much appreciated.
    I will assign points.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sunil Morwal.

    Hi Sunil,
You can get charts in Bex Analyzer. After you execute the report, from the Tools menu > Insert Chart. You can position and edit the chart as desired and save this as a workbook.
    Hope this helps...

  • Difference between Bex Analyzer and Bex WAD

    Hi Every one,
I am pretty new to SAP, and working on SAP BW Front end.
I am pretty aware of Bex Analyzer and also Browser, but i always have a doubt about Bex WAD.
In my present job i talk to the users and take the requirments and create queries in the Bex analyzer which i am comfortable doing it.
I also know all the features of Analyzer and created quries and also published it on web, and also created workbooks and inserting multiple quries in the workbook etc etc..
However i have zero knowledge on WAD and how it is useful to me, and as if now i haven't got any requirment from the client for me to create any report in WAD or do some thing in WAD.
I have gone through SAP SDN help etc but i am not understanding it at all.
So can any one explain me in a laymans terms what WAD is and how it will be useful to me?
and also if possible send me link which has got PDF screen shots of what WAD is?
    Points is for sure.
    Regards,
    Ram

    Raj,
Thanks for the reply, but i still did not get the understanding about WAD. i have studied the link which you sent me.
I am still not able to understand how it is helpful for people like me,
See i create my report in Query designer, and i can execute the query in Analyser. and if i want i can execute it in the Web from my query designer, and also i can create chart on the web if i want. And i can Broadcaste it in the Web.
and also if i want i can create it in the workbook and create chart in that work book.
Then what is the point of Web Application Designer (WAD).
See i have created the Query in Designer in Development say Sales report Query on the infoprovider for SD, now what should i do with it in WAD.
How can i get it in WAD, i went to start> all Programs>Bex> WAD and i logged in to development and a sereen opend. And from here what i can do, i mean how can i open my created query in WAD?
As you guys know i am new to SAP itself, but i dont see any advantage about WAD, i read all the articals and there i found that i can create Web Items, HTML etc etc, but i already have HTML, when i execute my query from the Designer i get it in Web Browser...
See my question is simple, i have a query which i have created in the Query Designer, now how can i get it to WAD and after getting it what can i do with it??
If any one has a screen shots of there pls send me.
And Sanjeev has sent me a PDF which i saw earlear and i done the same in my WAD but i am not about to get it to work.
I have given the points to every one but still what i need i did not get yet.
    Regards,
    Ram

  • Bex broadcaster in bex analyzer

    Dear all,
I have created a report in bex analyzer. I want to add this report to portal, therefore  i need to select bex broadcasting from excel bex analyzer menu.
    My questions are as follows:
    1) As i read in document, i can put analyzer reports in portal. Is it correct?
    2) In excel bex analyzer menu, my bex broadcaster menu item is in display mode. Why can it be like this?
    Thanks

You can directly add the BEx query to the portal. While creating iview there is an option for BEx query also. Just select your query there and you can access this query through portal. For that Broadcaster option present in BEx analyzer I m still searching how to use it.

  • Bex Analyzer Calculation of Results

    Hello,
I have created a query using Bex Analyzer. In the query I am also <b>using a formula to calculate forecast accuracy.</b> When I execute the query the <b>formula works fine in the rows.</b>
The <b>problem is the (yellow) overall result row</b>. Here the result is not correct because it is supposed to be calculated differently. In the query properties the settings for "Calculate result as.." are limited and do not serve my purpose.
<b>Is there a way (workaround) to calculate the result in the overall result row differently, maybe using VBA (does anyone have sample code in this case) or is there any other option?</b>
Thank you very much for your help.
    Christian

    Hi Heike,
First of all thank you very much.
When I use "leaf(xyz)yourformulaforsinglevalues + not leaf(xyz) yourforumulaforresultrows" what should I include in the brackets where you mention (xyz)?
Does this "leaf-function" work for all drilldown levels, meaning I define the formula using the formula editor, execute the query and make a drilldown according to another characteristic and have the correct result for the single values and the result rows at that level of detail too.
Thank you very much for your help again. I really appreciate that.

  • Creating Chart in BeX Report

I have few questions regarding creating Chart in BW Report. One thing I need to make it clear it's a simple BeX Report not a WAD report.
    (1) How should I create a chart in the Report?? Should I have to create it in the Excel Sheet once I run the report?
    (2) Do I need to create the chart everytime manually once I run the report or is there any way we can save it and everytime we open the Report it should display the chart automatically !!
    (3) When users drill up/ drill down or group data in different views, the Chart should be dynamically changed follow the change in data set. Is it possible to do that??
    Thanks,

    hi,
you can add a chart to your report. it is possible.check out these links for details..

  • How to create a new column in BEx Analyzer

    Hello,
I have 12 characteristics and 7 Key figures in my Query. This includes RKF and CKF.
I'm executing the query in BEx Analyzer.
Now I want to include a new column which will be a replica of another Key figure column.
    How to do this?
    Regards,
    Arif

    Hello Arif,
You can do the setting in BEx QD and view it in Analyzer.
You can create a new formula and include the keyfigure in that formula.
This will be displayed as a new column on execution.

  • Is it possible to create an interactive graph/chart using Report Builder 3.0?

    Hi All,
I am using Report Builder for the first time. Here is what I am trying to accomplish. The data I plan to use in Report Builder is coming from SQL Server and in the Report Builder I want to create an interactive graph(chart).
For example, The table in SQL Server consists of Hospital Name, Measure name, and Scores for each measures for different quarters.
The idea is to create a graph that will allow the user to pick the measure name(from a drop down list or something similar) and Hospital name, then the graph will display the measure scores for different quarters and corresponding target scores for that
    particular Hospital.
The data in SQL server looks like this :
    measure
    MC_NM
         q112
        q212
       q312
    XXY
    TARGET
    0.9

    0.9
    XXY
    REGION

    0.848934
    0.865714
    XXY
    Hospital 1
    0.875
    0.916084
    0.92
    XXY
    Hospital 2

Is this is possible to do in Report Builder 3.0? Please share your thoughts.

Thanks a lot for your response.
I was able to create the parameters and now able to select the measure and facility and display that data in the table and chart.
Now I am trying to see if I can add a line(target values) on top of the column chart to show the whether the scores of each measures, for each quarters are how far from the target values.
Please let me know if this is possible.

  • Create report on hierarchies using Bex Analyzer

    Hi sir/mam,
can any one tell me how to create report on hierarchy in BEx Analyzer .
Basically i have an info object which is kept under Rows.what i did wasi simply dragged from Dimensions and dropped that info Object into Rows in Rows/Column pane. But that info object has hierarchy in Dimensions. when i dragged and dropped i only get that info object not with the Hierarchy. Now i have to create a report on that info object with the same Hierarchy as it is in the dimensions .
please tell me the steps how to create hierarchy .

Dolly, welcome to developing in BW.
A hierarchy is considered a 'Property' of a characteristic. You can just right-click on the characteristic and select the hierarchy from the tab titled "Hierarchy" in the properties section. Select "Activate Hierarchy Display" and choose the hierarchy you want to show. You can also use a variable to allow the user to select from all available hierarchies for that characteristic.
(Note that this is for BI 7. BW 3.x involves a similar process, but the interface is a bit different.
